I don't own BNHA.
Finally finishing the sheet before him, Izuku dropped his worn-out pencil onto the piece of paper, stretched his arms behind him, and sighed when he felt the tension in his shoulders ease. The final exams were coming up soon, and much to the dismay of many of his classmates, Aizawa didn't let up on the homework. When a few of them (mainly Kaminari and Mina), tried to 'subtly' convince their homeroom teacher to lessen the workload so they can focus more on their exams, Aizawa bluntly told them to consider their homework as free study guides.
No one protested further when Aizawa finished that sentence with a glare.
Luckily, Izuku didn't mind, he liked learning and thanks to his good work ethic throughout the year, the homework wasn't overly difficult for him. Having said that though, Izuku could use a little break before he started on his other assignments.
As his eyes roamed around his desk, idly thinking about what he should do, his eyes caught his phone, that he had placed beside him. He turned the screen on and saw it was now 9:30, still leaving him plenty of time to finish his homework not just for tonight, but for the next couple of days.
Suddenly, he heard All Might declaring, 'I am here!' from his phone while a message from his mom popped up. Sitting up straighter, Izuku quickly opened his phone and read the message.
'Goodnight sweetie! Remember, it won't do you any good to stay up all night studying! Oh, and be sure to drink lots of milk! Your bones need it :) 3
Izuku smiled at his mom's words, and it was then that he knew what he was going to do for his little break.
'Don't worry Mom, I'll be in bed before midnight and I'm gonna drink some milk right now for a little studying break. Goodnight 3
The first-year then stood up and after he put the phone in his pocket, he left his room and headed downstairs to the kitchen. He remembered there being a decent amount of milk in the fridge this morning, so it shouldn't take long for him to just have one glass before going back up to study. With a pep in his steps, Izuku arrived in the common area after a few minutes, finding that several classmates were congregated there.
"My brain hurts," Mina groaned with her face planted against several crumpled papers that were sprawled all over the living room table. Then she turned her head to face Jiro, who was sitting right beside her on the ground. "Jiro, if I die, can you please make sure my epithet is something cool? Like something along the lines of…at least I wasn't afraid to like pink. Ugh…"
"Sure, sure," Jiro comforted her nonchalantly as she patted the pink girl's back with a small smile.
"Ashido, do you want me to go get recovery girl?" Todoroki offered with a calm yet concerned expression.
"Huh? Oh, no, it's not that bad…" Mina rejected kindly as she picked her head up to look at Todoroki, who was sitting at the table with them. "And I think Momo had some Ibuprofen in her purse so if it gets worse, I can ask her."
"Good luck with that," Kaminari said as he leaned over the top of the couch while looking down at Momo, who was currently lying on her back. "She's out cold."
"Hey, Midoriya! Do you want some grape juice?" Mineta asked him when Izuku reached the kitchen counter.
"Oh um...thank you but I was actually going to go get some milk," Izuku nervously replied, not wanting to hurt Mineta but not wanting to break his promise to his mother either.
"Sato used the last of it to make some kind of cake," Kaminari informed him over his shoulder while still leaning on the couch.
"Really? Oh," Izuku said as he turned his face towards the fridge, and saw that milk was now on the 'Need to Buy' list. Well, at least he tried. Then he turned to Mineta. "Ah, I'll take some grape juice after all, please."
"You got it!" Mineta exclaimed as he poured the juice (the bottle was almost as big as his body) into an empty glass. He then handed the glass to Izuku, who gladly accepted it and took a sip as he sat down on a stool. Izuku looked at his classmates, who were either relaxing or busy doing their homework. Despite their final exams arriving in a few weeks, Izuku smiled contently at the peaceful scene.
After everything they had been through this year, it was nice to have moments like this.
Then the peace ended.
"Out of my way, Glasses!" Izuku heard Bakugou yell as he came around the corner, his hands in his pocket, to be quickly followed by Iida.
"Bakugou! I must say that there was no need for you to be so rude!" Iida criticized him with his usual excited hand-chops. "Also, it is almost ten, you need to keep your voice down!"
"Eh?!" Bakugou responded angrily as he stopped in his tracks and glared at Iida. When he opened his mouth, Izuku sighed, quickly got off the stool, and headed towards them. He was going to try to pacify the situation, even though the only reward he was going to get was Bakugou yelling at him instead.
Heroes shouldn't be afraid to put their lives on the line right?
But before Izuku could interject, someone else did.
"Yeah, Momo's sleeping!" Jiro harshly whispered as she pointed to the sleeping girl, causing Bakugou to turn his attention to the girls instead.
"And she needs it, she-"
"Hey, Ponytail!" Bakugou suddenly shouted, interrupting Mina as he walked towards Momo, stopping when he was towering over her. "Wake up and sleep in your own bed! Don't go hogging the whole couch! It's not that comfortable anyway!"
"Bakugou!" Mina cried as she stood up, enraged for her friend. "She had a really bad headache earlier! How-"
Then Mina broke off, her angry expression slowly morphing into one of perturbed realization. Concerned, Izuku looked at Momo and with no small amount of dread, quickly saw the problem.
"Could you..."
Momo was still fast asleep. And as far as he could tell, she hadn't even moved. He hadn't heard her make any sort of sound either.
"Do that," Mina finished quietly as Jirou went around her to get to Momo's side.
"Momo?" she called out softly, pure worry edging her words as she shook Momo's arm. No one, from Bakugou, who was still towering over her, to Mineta, who had followed him out of the kitchen, made a sound as they stared at Momo. When Momo failed to move, Jiro shook her arm again, harder this time.
Momo still didn't wake up.
"Well that's not good," Todoroki said.
You're right Todoroki. You're absolutely right.
So what did you guys think? So this is my first attempt at writing a BHNA fanfic, so I hope the characters are not OOC (at least, not too much so). And while I do have other projects to work on, if I get enough reviews maybe I can find the motivation to push myself to update within two weeks;)
So till then, have a good day/night and stay safe!
