I woke up screaming. The Prayer's disgusting face hovering over mine, a sharp object stabbing my chest...A dream. All a dream.

I was sweating heavily, and I felt a slight chill. a deep sense of foreboding.

After slipping on some clothes, I walked downstairs. There was no one the hotel lobby. I let out a deep sigh. Maybe I was just being paranoid.

Suddenly, a clerk appeared out of nowhere. No side door, no corridor, nothing. Zip, Nada, Zilch.

Now I'm not too sure, but I don't think teleportation powers are standard procedure for hotel clerks. "Where..."

I trailed off. There was a look in the clerks eyes. The clerk's bright red eyes. Like a demon-clerk.

He grinned. "We've been waiting for you, Daniel."

I scowled, picturing the one weapon I could think of.

I gripped my baseball bat.
The Demon-Clerk laughed. "You think that will stop us, Daniel? Then you're wrong. Dead wrong."

I shuddered. I didn't think his emphasis on the word "dead" was a mistake. "I'm the Alien Hunter! I'll defeat all of you! Who are you?" I said, sounding braver than I felt. This guy had RED EYES, for goodness sake!

The clerk grinned even wider.

"Answer me! Who. Are. You?"
The clerk cackled. "I'm nobody, little Daniel. Just a messenger. A messenger of war. My message for you is this. He's coming for you."

I stepped forward. "Who?"

"Why, the Prayer of course."

And with that, he was gone.

I let go of the bat. Instantly. it dissipated into nothingness. The Prayer was coming. For me. I fell to my knees.

I needed my friends, my family, I needed...Dana.

As soon as I thought that, I felt her hand on my shoulder.

I looked up. There she was, as beautiful as ever. " Daniel, it's Ok."

" How can it be OK! " I lashed out at her for no reason. "My worst enemy...he's coming. Coming for me."

"Shh. It's OK. He's out there. But we'll stop him. we always do."

I looked out the lobby window. " Yes." But that's what I always said.

But inside, I was scared. Scared of...dying.
