"This is the first time I actually scored higher than you did!" Lily remarked with a grin. Severus crossed his arms. "Are you surprised? You're incredibly bright." Lily sighed. "Sev, you can't just say "well of course!" be at least a little bitter about it, otherwise there's no reward!" But how could Severus not smile when she succeeded? It made his heart flutter.
"Well fine then. I think you cut the roots too thin to have done better than I did, but I suppose that extra leftward stroke might have something to do with it."
