Inuyasha hadn't slept a wink all night. He had spent the evening wandering around the city trying to wrap his head around the events of last night.

What had he done? He did not understand how he had treated Kagome that way. He had just been so angry when he got to her apartment. He could hardly believe how he had behaved.

He knew she was going to be mad at him, possibly even hate him. He was desperate to know what to do. He wanted to fix this so bad. But he just couldn't tell her the truth. He couldn't get her involved.

Little had he known when he woke up yesterday morning he would be thrown into such an angered frenzy. He was finally starting to feel comfortable again. He and Kagome were doing ok and so was his job. Things were looking up.

That morning he had been on his way to work, he was stopped at a light lazily looking around his surroundings. He was looking at the patrons of an outdoor café when he saw them.

Kikyo and Naraku! They were sitting outside at a small table, probably eating breakfast. Inuyasha noticed Kikyo leaning into Naraku smiling and laughing. Naraku had his arm around her shoulder possessively.

Inuyasha had always known Kikyo wanted her archeology partner Naraku, but it didn't hurt any less seeing them together. Kikyo suddenly looked Inuyasha directly in the face as if she had felt his stare.

She started to lunge forward as if coming towards him but the light had turned green. Inuyasha pulled forward so fast his tires squealed in the process. He couldn't believe she would have the nerve to try to talk to him.

She had tortured him so much over the years. Acting like she loved him then telling him she didn't. She hated his demon side. She was always very vocal about it. She felt he was an embarrassment.

However she loved having sex with him and his demon side. She loved his stamina, she even rubbed his ears occasionally. But she would only go out in public with him on his human nights once a month.

If she had money raising events to attend she would only invite him to go if they fell on a human night. The rest of the time she went with Naraku. Stating that he had to be there anyway.

When she did take him she would cling to him and make him meet hundreds of people he didn't care about in this life or the next. He would play the perfect boyfriend. Never speaking, only smiling. He would laugh at all her jokes and run his hand along her back lovingly. She would eat it up.

Those nights she would always give him amazing mind blowing sex. She would push him in a closet or empty room and give him blowjobs. Expertly working his member to complete satisfaction.

When they went to his place she would take complete control over him. Riding him while touching him everywhere. She would scream his name and kiss him passionately. It was those nights he found it hard to believe she didn't love him.

But in the morning she would remind him she would never love him. Well that was unless there was a way for him to become only human. He would cringe whenever she would state that as her feelings.

Then one day over dinner, during his human period, she asked him a heartbreaking question. "Inuyasha, if it were possible for you to become human would you be willing to do it?" She smiled at him almost lovingly.

"I guess, if that is what it would take to make you love me, but since that is not possible I suppose it doesn't really matter." She was smiling even more now. "You would do that for me? Well, what if I told you I may have discovered a way to make you human?" She was caressing his cheek with the back of her hand.

"What are you talking about? Have you lost your mind?" He was frowning at her now. He thought she was just torturing him like she always did. Sometimes she could be a real bitch.

"Naraku and I have made a very important discovery. We uncovered it last week. Some very ancient Japanese ruins. A shrine and an burial tomb. It is believed to have belonged to a powerful priestess." She looked very serious now.

"So how is that going to turn me into a human?" He was getting angrier by the minute. He hated it when she discussed wanting him to be a human.

"According to legend this priestess died protecting something called the Shikon jewel. It has been rumored to grant the owner of it any wish." She tried to reach forward and grab his hand across the table.

He pulled it back, he had come to the realization what she was plotting. "Kikyo that is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. Like you are ever going to find this thing, and then if you did it's going to grant wishes?"

"Actually Inuyasha we did find it. It was in the hands of the priestess' perfectly preserved body. That is why I asked you the question I did. I want to wish for you to be human." She was smiling at him again.

"Keh, this is so stupid. I can't believe we are even having this discussion. Kikyo nothing is going to make me human. Nothing. I am who I am and nothing will change that. You have to accept it." He was raising his voice now. He was so angry at her and this dumb conversation.

"Please Inuyasha, I could love you so easily if you were a man. Not some abomination. You know how my family feels about you being a half demon. I could never be with you otherwise." She actually had tears in her eyes.

How he hated women's tears. "So that's it I have to become human to be with you? What if it doesn't grant you your precious wish? What if I am still me after everything? What then?" He had gone from anger to hurt now.

"I am afraid I will have to let you go. I will always want and need you, but I will never love you as you are now." Her face had no expression, it was just blank and icy cold.

He got up, threw a $100 bill on the table and said "I will think about it." With that he walked out of the restaurant leaving her to find her own way home.

Over the next few weeks Kikyo harassed him endlessly over the wish. He had never seen such a gleam in her eyes before. She joked with him and laughed. She touched him all the time, even when he wasn't human.

He was finding the idea more and more appealing. She was constantly cooking and baking various foods for him. She would bring them over to his place and seductively feed them to him. Then give him a massage and a bath.

He had never been loved by anyone like this. Well, maybe his mother but that was mom love not sexy hot girlfriend love. Kikyo had stayed at his place every night for a week. Something she had never done before.

She always left him after sex saying she liked to sleep in her own bed. She would never let him come to her place, what if someone saw him coming out of her apartment. It could taint her professional career.

But now she hardly let him out of her site all the while showering him with extreme affection. He was so happy it had become easy to finally agree to making the wish with her.

She was so happy she practically knocked him over when she jumped into his arms. He knew this had to be the right decision. He couldn't feel this happy if it was wrong.

She told him to come to her place first thing in the morning, right when the sun came up. It would be the perfect time to wish and to start their life together anew.

Inuyasha didn't sleep a wink that night. He was actually really scared. 'What if it hurt, what if it didn't work? Was she really going to leave him after all of the love they had shared over the past few weeks?' His mind kept racing with wild thoughts.

Finally he had given up, he decided to go over to her place and see if she could ease his thoughts. Maybe they could just get it over with. Then he wouldn't have to suffer from the 'What if's' anymore.

He took a deep breath and jumped onto her balcony. He knew her sliding glass door would be open because it was so hot. He slid it open and then heard voices, one was a male. Naraku.

"You are sure he is going to do it. I mean I could always do it you know" Inuyasha heard Naraku say.

"Oh I know he will do it. I have been giving him so much affection it almost made me sick." She laughed harshly.

"Besides the wish, according to legend, has to made selflessly. You couldn't make a selfless wish if your life depended on it. You know there also is a possibility I could love him if he were human".

He laughed and said "What about me? I thought you loved me?" She was laughing now. "Oh baby I do love you, it's just Inuyasha is kinda special. I don't know how to explain it."

"Well all I know is he had better make that wish tomorrow or all of our research will go down the drain. We will have nothing to show the world if we can't show the power of the jewel." His voice was a little harsh and it made Inuyasha's blood run cold.

"He will, darling, he will. He loves me, he has told me a thousand times. Once he has made his selfless act of love and devotion we will have all the answers to our research we need. I can smell the grants now."

That was all Inuyasha had to hear, he was ready to leave. Forget her and the stupid wish, being human and doing it all for love. He swore to himself right then and there he would never give away his heart again.

As he turned to make his way back to the balcony something shiny on the dining room table caught his eye. It was a small necklace with a huge round jewel hanging from it. 'Could it be?'

It was nestled in a box full of a cottony substance, obviously to protect it. He couldn't believe it was just sitting there waiting for anyone to take it. 'Anyone? Even him?'

With that thought and nothing else, Inuyasha grabbed the box and headed out the door.
