Sesshomaru was sitting behind his desk, fingers laced in front and elbows on his armrests. He was feeling quite pleased with himself for the moment.
Things were going very well between Kagome and himself. It had been two weeks since their first date at the pizza parlor and he was enjoying her company a lot.
They had gone to the ballet and Harmony (the most exclusive restaurant in town). To the park and Tokyo Disneyland with Rin. It was like they were a family.

Inuyasha had shown up in court the first time with no lawyer. The judge told him he had three weeks to obtain one. Inuyasha argued and the judge threatened to hold him in contempt.
Two weeks later and Inuyasha had done nothing. Sesshomaru was furious. He called one of his college roommates to see if he could help. He agreed to meet Inuyasha tomorrow morning at ten.
Sesshomaru picked up his phone and dialed his little brothers cell. "Inuyasha you are to be at my place tomorrow at ten a.m. sharp. No Buts! I have a lawyer friend coming to help you. BE THERE!" He hung up the phone before Inuyasha could even respond..
Next he decided to call Kagome " Hello" He was taken reminded how lovely her voice always sounded. "Good afternoon beautiful. How are you today?"

After an extensive tour of the mansion. Rin and Kagome returned to the kitchen to help finish dinner. Sesshomaru asked the girls to set the table while he finished up.
Dinner was simple but good. Kagome was completely happy enjoying being around Rin and Sesshomaru in a family like setting. They finished up, did the dishes together then grabbed dessert and snacks for the movie.
Half way through the movie Rin was out cold. Sesshomaru picked her up and whispered to Kagome that he would be right back. Kagome smiled and settled back into the sofa.

Kagome turned and looked at the clock 9:15. She had better hurry she wouldn't want Sesshomaru to think she was a lazy person who slept until noon.
She quickly showered and dressed, hurrying down to the kitchen for breakfast. She was so happy, she didn't think she could remember ever being this happy.
She was so excited to see Rin's face first thing in the morning. She was sure it was probably as close to sunshine as one could get. Of course seeing Sesshomaru first thing in the morning would be even better.
With that thought she walked into the kitchen with a huge smile on her face, ready to meet the new
happiness in her life. As she came into the kitchen she heard Sesshomaru say "Well why don't you ask her yourself Inuyasha?"
Barely audible but still heard by everyone was a softly whispered "Kagome." Inuyasha had uttered it and immediately looked down at his breakfast.
Kagome's heart stopped. She had been so happy. She hadn't thought about him once all night. But there the rat bastard was and all she wanted to do was touch him.
She wanted to ease his pain tell him she loved him and that everything would be all right. 'No! That is not right. I don't still love this asshole. I have a chance at happiness. Possibly someone who will love me back. No, no more Inuyasha. He can take care of himself.'
With that thought she put on her best smile, bent over and kissed Rin on the cheek. "Good morning everyone. What is it that Inuyasha needed to ask me?" She tried to keep her voice light and airy as if there was no turmoil going on inside her head.
"He just wanted to know if you were happy. Can I get you some coffee Kagome?" Sesshomaru was already pulling out a coffee cup as he said this. Kagome nodded and uttered a sweet "please" and turned to Inuyasha.
Inuyasha got up and stood in front of her not leaving any space between them. Running the back of his finger along her face. She smiled and looked over at Sesshomaru eyeing them unpleasantly.
Inuyasha leaned in so his mouth was close to her ear and whispered so only she could hear "Happiness looks good on you Kag's. I wish I had made you look like that. Even just one time. I am so sorry and I was wrong, I do love you."
He slammed his hands into his pockets walking away from her down the hallway to the den. She felt her knees start to buckle and she brought her hand up to her chest.
'Damn him. Damn Inuyasha.'
