A New Fox
By Tea Ghost Disclaimer, I don't own Naruto, obviously. I have also not read every Naruto fanfiction, nor do I know every Fannon Jutsu ever made, so I apologise for any toes accidentally stepped on. Obviously if someone made a Fannon Jutsu I mistakenly used, know that doing so was not intended, nor do I lay claim to it.
Chapter 3: Invasion!

Four large, thousand foot long pythons poofed into existence in the forest outside the Leaf Village. Slithering quickly toward the wall of the village, no one could stop their advance as they crushed the first lines of defence for the Great Ninja Village. An army of Sand and Sound Ninja flooded behind the serpents. They steamrolled past whatever Leaf Ninja stood in their way.
Back in the stadium any Ninja still awake fended off the hoards of enemy Ninja as they appeared from the sleeping crowd. Most of the Leaf Genin rookies all gathered around and tried to assist their Jonin sensei. Kankuro and Temari rushed to evacuate their brother. Baki gave them orders to stabilise Gaara until he could release the One Tail. Genma fought Baki as Sasuke and Shino followed the Sabaku siblings.
On the top of the arena the Kazekage revealed himself to be Orochimaru and his four guards put up a barrier and isolated the Hokage from any reinforcements. Naruto, seeing this from the ground, leaped up to the ANBU surrounding the barrier.
'Hey, mom, do you think you could tag in for a bit and open the barrier?' Naruto asked his mother.
Kushina, having studied the situation through Naruto's scenes, agreed hastily.
Briefly taking control of her son's body, Kushina laid a hand on the ground near the barrier, and using her chakra as a medium, she formed a complex sealing formula.
Once the seal finished forming Kushina did several hand signs, "Uzumaki Sealing Jutsu: Barrier Override!" she shouted out, the voice emanating from her son's body being Naruto's with her's being a ghostly echo.
A doorway shaped hole formed in the wall of the barrier, and Kushina/Naruto walked though. ANBU tried to follow but the seal was temporary, the doorway collapsed and the wall was made solid once more. Once inside the barrier Kushina gave control back to Naruto. Once back in control, Naruto called enough of his mom's chakra to form a chakra cloak. Naruto also took position next to Hiruzen.
Hiruzen tore away the elegant Hokage robes and hat, revealing that he was wearing full battle armour underneath, "While it's good to have backup Naruto, I would appreciate it more to have the opportunity to face my student on my own."
Naruto nodded, "Sure thing Old Man, but here, take this." After speaking, Naruto placed his hand on Hiruzen's shoulder, the result being Hiruzen developing a One Tailed red chakra cloak, "This will give you a bit of extra energy."
Hiruzen nodded, "Thanks Naruto, I feel ten years younger."
Orochimaru just chuckled, "You think the two of you alone will take me out? How laughably pathetic." With that Orochimaru also tore away the Kazekage robes and hat he'd stolen, "I see you were waiting for this moment too, Sarutobi-sensei, no matter though."
"You're not going to defeat me that easily." Hiruzen spoke with conviction, "Naruto, hold my hat for me will you. With the power you now possess and with Kushina backing you up, I feel like you can hold onto it until I've defeated my former pupil."
Naruto nodded and picked up the Hokage's hat while the master and student stared down. Hiruzen Sarutobi, and Orochimaru.
Back in the stadium the Genin Rookies huddled together and fended off attackers. When one looked like he might break through, Kakashi shimmered into view and jabbed a Kunai into the man's throat.
"Sakura, Shkamaru, Tenten. I want you three to follow Sasuke and Shino and back them up. They could be in serious trouble with those Sand siblings, not to mention whichever enemy ninja are also out there." Kakashi ordered as he used a second Kunai to cut along his finger, doing a group of hand signs, "Summoning Jutsu!" He cried.
Out of the smoke came a small pug, "Yo, what's up Kakashi." It asked in a surprisingly deep voice.
"Pakun, I need you to track Sasuke and lead these three Gennin to his location. Go!" Kakashi ordered.
The dog nodded and led Tenten, Shikamaru, and Sakura out of the area.
Kakashi then turned toward the remaining Genin, "Ino, Choji, Hinata, Kiba. Take Lee and evacuate the arena now, regroup with any other Genin at the civilian shelters."
The four Genin nodded and leaped off the side of the stands and rocketed toward the nearest evacuation route.
Back on the roof of the main stands, Naruto had Gathered Hiruzen's Hokage uniform, as the former teammates of the second generation squad seven stared down. At an intangible que only they understood, Hiruzen and Orochimaru rushed forward.
The Hokage immediately did a string of hand signs before shouting, "Ninja Art: Tile Shuriken." Hiruzen shouted as several of the yellow ceramic tiles that adorned the roof shot out to attack Orochimaru.
Avoiding the onslaught by leaping high into the air, Orochimaru did some hand signs of his own, 'this is too easy. Striking Shadow Snake!' He mentally cried as his already inhumanly long tongue extended out of his head and turned into a snake. The snake then shot off toward Hiruzen, biting around the old man's neck, "With a weak Jutsu like that, there's no way you can beat me Sarutobi-sensei!"
Orochimaru's pleased face turned to shock as Hiruzen turned to mud and washed away. Upon landing the Snake Sannin was immediately on guard as he retracted his snake and it turned back into his tongue.
"Earth Style: Great Mud River!" Hiruzen called from behind his former apprentice.
The tile beneath Orochimaru's feet turned into mud and washed the Sannin down the angled roof and toward the wall of the barrier.
Using chakra to hold himself in place, Orochimaru taunted his former teacher, "Is that all you've got?!"
"Far from it." Hiruzen assured his old student as he ran through more hand signs, "Earth Style: Earth Dragon Bomb!" Out of the base of the mudslide rose the head of a dragon made of mud. It opened its mouth and shot several globs of liquid earth. Still continuing to do hand signs, Hiruzen called out again, "Fire Dragon Bomb." With that Hiruzen breathed out a stream of fire.
The fire collided with the mud balls mid air and transformed them into flame covered boiling mud projectiles. The barrage impacted the snake Sannin and with a scream Orochimaru was blown back at the combined might of three point blank Jutsu.
Not letting his guard down for even a second the Third spoke, "You can stop your little act Orochimaru."
With a sickening chuckle Orochimaru rose from the roof in a distortion of light, "Alright then, but fair's fair, it's foolish to underestimate me. Did you seriously think you could kill me with such pitiful Jutsu?"
"Falling back on taunts since you could never beat me?" Hiruzen asked.
"Don't blame me, difficult students are always more fun to teach, aren't they Sarutobi-sensei?" Orochimaru shot back.
In the forest outside the Leaf, Shino had separated Kankuro from his siblings. Shikamaru had fallen behind to stop a contingent of Sound Ninja. Tenten and Sakura had drawn Temari off. All of this led to Sasuke continuing his fight with Gaara.
Back on the roof, Orochimaru and Hiruzen got back to staring down.
"As much as I enjoy playing with you, I think this Jutsu will end things nicely." Orochimaru said as he started a chain of hand signs.
Hiruzen bit back a laugh, "Well depending on how good your Jutsu is I may just have to send you back to the academy!"
"Summoning Jutsu: Reanimation!" Slamming his palm onto the ground, a seal formed under Orochimaru's hand and three coffins rose up. Out of the three wooden burial boxes stepped the First, Second and Fourth Hokages, "I do think these will do nicely."
"It's been awhile, Saru." Tobirama Senju, The Second Hokage, said.
"Where are we?" Hashirama Senju, The First Hokage, asked.
"Naruto, glad to see you awake this time." Minato said, slightly happy.
'They are just like I remember!' Hiruzen thought, "It has been too long, Sensei's. Lord First, Lord Second, Lord Fourth, I'm sorry I couldn't do away with my wayward student before now. As it is, Orochimaru there, has used a forbidden Jutsu to revive you to fight us."
"As touching as this reunion is, it's time we get back to the fight." Orochimaru cooed.
Out of his sleeves Orochimaru pulled two sealing tags and placed them into the heads of the first two Kage while Naruto and Hiruzen were still shocked. As Orochimaru pulled a third tag out, he was stopped by a barrage of Shuriken from his former teacher. Naruto leaped forward and captured the fourth with a tail from his cloak.
"Naruto, listen to me! This is no longer a place for you, the First was famous for his Wood Style Jutsu. The First used Wood Style against most of the Tailed Beasts, including the Nine Tails. You are no longer suitable for this kind of battle!" Hiruzen ordered.
Naruto nodded, "Understood, Old Man. Just promise me you'll take your hat back after the battle."
Hiruzen chuckled slightly, "Will do, but if I don't just give it to Jiraiya or Kakashi. Now, once out of the barrier, I want you to deal with that Gaara kid. Intel says that he's the Hidden Sand's Jinchuriki, he can't be allowed to unleash his Tailed Beast inside the village!"
Naruto nodded again and rushed the barrier. As he got close, he slammed his Tailed Beast chakra cloaked hand into the wall of the barrier, shattering it for a few seconds.
'Mom, do you think we can use that negative emotion sensing thing to track Gaara?' Naruto asked as he leaped rooftop to rooftop in the direction he'd last seen the Sand siblings headed.
"It will be hard with all the rage, hate, betrayal, and distrust laced about through the area, but we should be able to do it as the One Tail should be storing mass amounts of hatred and rage, like all Tailed Beasts besides myself." Kushina informed her son, "Now...keep heading in the direction you're going. You should get there in the next five minutes tops."
Naruto mentally nodded as he turned his attention to his father, who was still wrapped in one of his chakra tails, "So, dad, since you're here, not going to disappear, and I'm awake, shall we talk?"
Minato smiled, "Sure. There's one thing I always wanted to ask if I got the chance to meet you again."
"What is it dad?" Naruto asked.
"How much, how much did my decision to seal the Nine Tails inside you, affect you?" Minato questioned. Naruto sighed, a few tears fell from his eyes, and he began to explain his life up until then.
At the Emergency Shelters.
Chunin, Iruka Umino found himself coordinating the defence of the different underground bunkers underneath the Hokage mountain. Directing Chunin and ordering Genin to defend said bunkers and direct the incoming civilians to various shelters.
"Genin squads Alpha, Beta, Gamma, and Delta, guard shelters one and two. General civilians are in those, so don't betray any information about how bad the situation is. Chunin squads Alpha and Beta, the academy students are in bunker ten, do your best to reassure them it's all just a drill and that everything's fine. Genin squads Epsilon, Zeta, Eta, Theta, and Chunin squads Gamma and Delta, bunkers three through nine are for clan civilians, defend them, if they ask about anything, tell them honestly, but no more than they need to know. We're one squad short so I'm going to close off the entrance with an Earth Jutsu once everyone's inside." Iruka said to the group of ninja.
"Wait! Iruka-sensei!" Ino called as her group ran up to the gathered Genin and Chunin.
Iruka sighed with some relief, "Ino, Choji, Kiba, Hinata. Boy am I glad to see you guys. Listen I'm one squad short for defending the shelters, so you're now Genin squad Iota. you guys will be guarding bunker nine."
The four capable genin nodded while Lee slipped into the crowd of civilians that were still entering the shelters.
In a small forest clearing outside the Leaf Village.
Sasuke stood, panting, on buckling knees, holding his limp right arm. Black flame-like marks covered his whole body, and his Sharingan was active. Across from him was gaara, mostly covered in sand, eyes half way insane. The sand formed a large singular tail, and the sand formed this strange racoon looking monster around him. Even his face was morphed by the shaped sand into some sort of monstrous form. Gaara's eyes had shifted to have a black sclera, yellow irises, and cross shaped pupils. Gaara's left arm was outstretched and extended by sand. His sand clawed hand pinning an unconscious Sakura, who'd switched opponents to help Sasuke, to a tree.
'What the hell is this guy.' Sasuke thought.
"ARE YOU REALLY SO WEAK!? UCHIHA!" Gaara screamed, "If you can't prove my existence, then DIE!"
Gaara's sand covered appendage squeezed to crush Sakura. His attempt to immediately kill the girl was stopped when a golden light blurred out of the trees and cut the clawed hand at the wrist. Gaara's arm retracted and reformed its hand, while the original clawed hand stayed in place.
"YOU! NINE TAILS JINCHURIKI YOU WILL PROVE MY EXISTENCE OR THEY DIE!" Gaara roared maniacally.
"If it's a fight you want Gaara, then I have no choice but to oblige." Naruto responded, "Sasuke, try and free Sakura. Leaf Ninja don't leave fellow comrades behind. I'll handle Gaara."
Sasuke nodded and hobbled his way over to the still trapped sakura.
Minato watched the whole scene from his wrapped position, smiling slightly at Naruto's belief in the village's ideals.
Naruto rushed forward and slammed his fist into Gaara's face, sending the sand covered Jinchuriki back and into the forest. Naruto moved to follow, but was halted in his immediate pursuit by waves and walls of sand that spread out and wailed at him.
Gaara got back to his feet and continued to lob sand based attacks at his opponent, "You will not defeat me! Sand Shuriken!" He screamed.
Gaara stretched his arm and spinning globs of sand shot out from the limb and toward Naruto. The sand projectiles slammed into Naruto. Gaara's manic smile turned into a frown when "Naruto" burst into a smoke puff and a tree log fell to the ground. The next thing Gaara felt was Naruto's fist impacting the side of his face, sending the rabid Jinchuriki flying.
Minato casually observed the battle, not hiding the pride he felt for his son, 'I'm proud of how far you've come, Naruto. Your life may have been harder than I would have hoped, but you've truly started down the path toward being the best man I could have hoped for.'
With Orochimaru and the Hokage
Hiruzen stared at his predecessors and his wayward student, "Are you really so incapable of killing me yourself, that you need to revive three dead Hokage's to carry your weight?"
"You always did preach teamwork, Sarutobi-sensei." Orochimaru countered.
The verbal spar ended as the First and Second Hokages rushed toward Hiruzen. A brief exchange of Taijutsu was exchanged before the first two Hokage were pushed back. While the Hokage fought, Orochimaru decided to stand off to the side.
Once they were far enough away, Hiruzen shot through some hand signs and shouted, "let it begin! Fire Style: Dragon Flame Bombs!"
The Third Hokage deeply inhaled before blowing a hot and powerful stream of fire from his mouth. The flames rushed toward his two opponents.
Before they could reach them, the Second Hokage made a string of hand signs, "Water Style: Water Wall!" A torrent of water made from the ambient humidity formed a strong barrier of liquid between the Senju brothers and the flames.
As the fire died down, the Second Hokage strung more hand signs,"Water Style: Water Shockwave!" He cried.
A giant tornado of water formed out of the ambient humidity around the Second Hokage. The swirling wave of water formed into a wave that shot straight toward Hiruzen.
The Third Hokage made his counter as the water rushed him, "Earth Style: Mud Wall!"
With his call, a large rock barrier formed in front of Hiruzen. The new ocean however was relentless and splashed around the side of its barrier, forcing the elderly Kage to leap to the top of his wall. The torrent of water stilled as the liquid filled a large section of the contained roof.
Using the water surface walking technique, Hashirama ran full tilt toward Hiruzen who had jumped down to the water surface. The red chakra around Hiruzen causing the water around his feet to bubble and boil, creating small rises of steam beneath the old Kage.
As his enemy approached Hiruzen prepared another Jutsu, "Fire Style: Flaming Bolt Barrage!"
Several shots of fire flew toward the fast approaching first Hokage, who blocked the attacks with ease using his wrist guards as shields. Hashirama was now upon Hiruzen and a quick Taijutsu exchange was made that left the Third Hokage face down in the water.
"As quick and strong as ever I see." Hiruzen said as he struggled back to his feet.
While the third recovered, he didn't notice the bubbles rise up behind him, when he finally did notice however, it was too late. Five streams of water burst forth, and grabbed him, rapidly dragging him beneath the water surface, barely giving him enough time to scream.
'Fighting the two of you at once is quite a challenge.' Hiruzen thought to himself as Tobirama continued to drag him down.
Somehow managing to break free, Hiruzen torpedoed out of the water and rushed up his still standing earth wall. Once on top of the wall however, jet-like streams of water shot him, missing, but destabilising the top of the wall and causing a collapse. To slow his descent, Hiruzen leaped up the falling debris. As the chunks of rock fell, Tobirama allowed the water to recede, ensuring that there would be no soft landing for his opponent. Hiruzen made one final leap to the ground and landed in a crouch, breathing heavily.
As he looked at the ground, Hiruzen noticed some plant life beginning to emerge from between the roofing tiles, 'No, Lord First's Kekkei Genkai.' He thought.
"Wood Style; Deep Forest Creation!" Hashirama spoke as massive trees erupted forth and shaped themselves around him.
Hiruzen tried to dodge, but was quickly wrapped up in the winding branches. The nine tails chakra rapidly waning the longer he was held in the trees.
The two resurrected Hokage converged with Orochimaru before the trapped Third Hokage.
"Well Sarutobi-sensei, it looks like this fight is over, doesn't it?" Orochimaru mocked.
Having bitten his thumb earlier and done some hand signs while dodging, Hiruzen struggled valiantly to place his hand on the closest branch, "Ninja Art: Summoning Jutsu: Monkey King Enma!" He shouted as a large mass of smoke appeared.
Enma walked out of the dispersing smoke and stared down Orochimaru. Without missing a beat Orochimaru ordered the first two Hokage to rush the summon animal. However the Senju brothers were little match against the pure strength and Taijutsu of the Monkey King.
"Monkey Ninja Art: Transform: Adamantine Staff!" Enma shouted as formed into a bo staff beneath a vale of smoke.
Enma's staff form shot out at the wooden binds holding Hiruzen, and shattered them like glass. Hiruzen landed between the recovering Senju brothers as he caught Enma.
"Well, at least this is interesting now." Orochimaru said before he pulled his sword out of his mouth.
"Sarutobi, we must end this as quickly as possible. I recognise Orochimaru's blade, The Grass Longsword. Even in this form I will be unable to take even a single hit from it." Enma informed the elderly Kage.
"Agreed. I have a plan, but to do it would require that we get Orochimaru's sword out of his reach. Having Naruto and Kushina here right about now would be opportune. The chakra they've given me is out, and their Sealing Jutsu skills would be most handy in this endeavour." Hiruzen stated as the red chakra cloak finally receded.
With Naruto
Gaara smiled maniacally as he got back up, "You are a worthy opponent Uzumaki, but now you will die to prove my existence! Ninja Art: Play Possum Jutsu!"
Gaara's head fell forward as all the sand in the area rushed toward him. The glob of sand continued to grow larger and larger until it was half the size of the Hokage monument. Once at that size the glob started to take shape and become recognisable as the great and mighty One Tailed Tanuki, Shukaku.
"Aaaahhh, FREEDOM AT LAST! FACE MY WRATH HUMANS! AH HAHAHAHAHA!" Shukaku roared.
"Ah, Son, do we have a plan to do anything about that? I mean, Orochimaru still has control over me, and it's not like I can pledge my soul to the Reaper twice." Minato asked his son.
"Naruto, we are going to have to do a full transformation to combat the One Tail. I'll give you some more of my chakra, mould it into my fox form." Kushina spoke through the mind link.
'Understood mom, let's just hope the villagers don't get any heart attacks.' Naruto acknowledged.
"They've got bigger problems y'know!" Kushina shouted back. Though her son could not see it, she held a small smile at his antics.
The goldish red chakra around Naruto exploded into the massive form of the full Nine Tailed fox. Though unlike the form of the previous fox, this new form was just shaped golden chakra with black markings. The form was transparent with Naruto at its centre, at the heart of the beast. Minato was no longer wrapped up by the fox tails, instead he was floating in the Nine Tails chakra, just a few feet behind his son.
"IF YOU WANT TO DESTROY MY HOME AND MY FRIENDS, YOU'RE GOING TO HAVE TO GET PASSED ME FIRST! BELIEVE IT!" Naruto strained his vocal chords to shout so loud, ensuring his message was heard by all.
"DON'T COUNT ME OUT EITHER Y'KNOW, I DIED ONCE TO PROTECT THE LEAF AND MY SON! I WILL GLADLY STAND AND FACE DOWN YET ANOTHER TAILED BEAST FOR THEM AGAIN!" Kushina shouted through the Nine Tails chakra Construct's mouth.
All the Sand, Sound, and Leaf Ninja all stopped momentarily upon seeing the two titanus Tailed Beasts appear. Even Orochimaru and Hiruzen temporarily stopped their battle to observe the massive struggle. The Sound Ninja were overcome with profound dread at the feeling of two powerful forces about to collide. The Sand Ninja now had doubts about whether or not to continue the invasion, it would all hinge on Gaara and Shukaku now. For the Leaf Ninja, reactions were split. The younger ones were both slightly awed and slightly scared at the same time. Those old enough to remember the original fox attack, but not in the know of who Kushina was, were very much on edge. The few who were both old enough to remember the fox attack, and knew Kushina very instantly recognized her presence and were quite excited to see the tide turn.
At an invisible signal Kushina and Naruto charged forward and Shukaku unleashed waves and tendrils of sand at them. Kushina used her tails to bat away the sand without much effort.
"WIND STYLE: DRILLING AIR BULLETS!" Shukaku raved as he inhaled massive amounts of air.
Once his breath was full, Shukaku slammed his fist into his gut, releasing several bolts of air. Kushina used her tails to block the shots. As she reached Shukaku, Kushina embedded her claws into Shukaku's arms, pinning him. She then concentrated her chakra to make chakra chains appear out from all over her body. They wrapped around Shukaku, preventing the Tailed Beast from moving.
"Naruto! We need to wake Gaara up. I think his seal is reliant on his willpower and concentration to keep Shukaku at bay. But as long as he is unconscious, his seal is ineffective." Kushina spoke.
"Got it Mom. I have an Idea, push me out of this chakra fox thing. I'll punch Gaara awake before his sand defence can shield him." Naruto said.
"Ok, but two things, one I won't be able to keep this up without you in here, second, Your father will be free again. It will be up to you to stop him because I still need to learn how to use my chakra. This took way too much effort to do something I should have been able to do in my sleep. I'm about at my limit already." Kushina told her son before pushing him with her chakra.
Naruto shot out of the fox construct's chest, rocketing straight toward Gaara. Kushina's golden fox from faded away and Minato dropped to the ground. Fist cocked back, Naruto rapidly approached Gaara before his sand could react.
Fist met face and with Naruto's cry of "Wakey wakey Gaara!" The Sand's Jinchuriki was awoken.
The form of Shukaku collapsed into a massive pile of sand, cushioning Naruto and Gaara's fall. Once on the ground, Naruto, limping, dragged a shocked silent Gaara clear from the pile of sand.
"Stay here, if you don't move, I'll be able to fix your seal. Mom and I might even be able to subdue Shukaku for you." Naruto told the Sand Jinchuriki as he walked off.
Naruto walked for about five minutes before entering a forest clearing. On the opposite side of the clearing, Minato revealed his presence.
"Orochimaru still controls me, as long as we see each other we will be forced to fight. But I was able to prepare this for you." Minato said.
"I see, you truly were a master, I don't even understand ninety percent of this, I assume the only hand sign I need is a ram seal?" Naruto responded.
Minato smiled as two tears fell from his eyes, "Yes." He whispered, "I don't have time to explain what this seal formula does, but what I can tell you is that this will one hundred percent guarantee my soul will be in the hands of the Reaper. Goodbye Naruto... Son."
Naruto nodded, "Goodbye Dad. Ninja Art: Foreign Seal Activation!"
The whole clearing lit up as seal script written on the ground glowed blue and red. In a flash of light, Minato was gone, all that remained was a rapidly disintegrating seal array, dust, and the corpse of the man Orochimaru sacrificed to raise Minato.
Gaara laid down, not moving, silently watching Naruto reenter the small break in the forest where he'd been left. Naruto rolled Gaara over onto his back when seven shadows entered on both sides, a group of five and a group of two.
The group of five was Shino, his father Shibi, Sasuke, an unconscious Sakura over Sasuke's shoulder, and Tenten. The group of two was Gaara's siblings, Temari and Kankuro Sabaku. Everyone in both groups was heavily exhausted.
Temari was the first to speak, "Back...back away...from...him...or die." She breathlessly spoke.
"What...what she...she said." Kankuro said, equally exhausted.
"Like...like you... could. My...my insects have...have taken nearly...all your...your chakra." Shino responded.
"My...my poison...it still runs in your veins." Kankuro countered.
"But not mine." Shibi spoke coldly.
While Kankuro, Shino and Shibi had their play, so did Temari and Tenten.
"You...will not touch...touch him...Sand...Sand Girl." Tenten said.
"You're...you're all out...of weapons...Bun Girl." Temari spat back.
Tenten smirked, "All...all but one." She said as she unsealed a katana.
"What do you...think is faster...my Wind Scythe Jutsu, or...or you're...you're sword arm." Temari smirked back.
Naruto growled, fed up with their pointless bickering, "Will all of you stop! The only two of us who can fight are Shibi and I. Now, I am not going to hurt Gaara, Mom and I are going to subdue Shukaku and fix Gaara's seal. So will everyone just calm down."
Temari and Kankuro hesitantly relaxed, backing down. Shibi, Shino, Sasuke, and Tenten also backed down. Naruto nodded and got to work making a better seal for Gaara.
-In the Leaf Village.
Upon seeing their jinchuriki collapse, the Sand Shinobi surrendered. Some even turned on their sound allies, hoping that by assassinating a few 'enemy' shinobi their old allies would show favour.
Seeing his plan rapidly collapsing, Orochimaru released his Jutsu on the First and Second Hokage. Their forms collapsed into dust and dead bodies.
"All Sound forces! RETREAT!" Orochimaru said as he and his forces abandoned their assault on the Leaf Village.
Back in the forest
Naruto huffed as he finished painting the new seal on Gaara's back. He was also out of breath from lecturing Gaara on the importance of loving those around you and being strong so you can protect them.
Naruto smiled as he looked at his work before speaking "Alright Now Gaara, your seal is ready, now you, Mom, and I are going to have to go inside your mindscape and force Shukaku into his new cage, the Five Point Star Seal. A seal that uses the principle of Uzumaki Chakra Chains and the five basic chakra natures to fully counter the beast inside."
Gaara struggled to nod, still in pain. Naruto nodded as well before putting his fist in front of Gaara. Gaara shakelly met Naruto's fist with his own.
In an instant Naruto, Gaara, and Kushina appeared in Gaara's mindscape. Sand surrounded them for miles. The air was golden, and it was night, with a bright glowing crescent moon illuminating a bright gold topped, limestone pyramid. The entrance to the fortress was styled after a skull, with flaming eyes. A staircase came out of the skull's mouth and the gateway was just at the back of the jaw. Off to the side of the entrance was guarded by large black dog statues on large block bases.
"Damn Gaara, this is one hell of a mind scape, though I wonder why we're all the way out here, usually when we enter it's just outside the cage for our Tailed Beast." Naruto awed.
"Let's just go. I assume Shukaku's old and new prison cells are in there." Gara droned.
Naruto nodded, "Yeah lets go. You lead the way, mom will provide sealing experience, and you and I will fight Shukaku and push him into his new home."
Kushina and Gaara nodded to Naruto's plan, and the three of them walked up the stairs and through the gates. Inside the walls of the pyramid, light was made by flaming torches. The corridors were all made of stone, sand coating every inch of the rooms and passageways.
Eventually the trio entered a main chamber, with an old rusty iron cage that barely fit the raving Shukaku. As they got closer to the Tailed Beast, they noticed his form become increasingly unstable. The titan was rambling to itself in a harsh whisper. Shukaku shrunk to half his size and the sand from off him formed into a gargantuan woman with slight tanuki features.
"Hey Gaara, any idea what's going on?" Naruto asked.
"It shouldn't be possible, but that woman, I think she's my mom. It's hard to tell because of Shukaku's features bleeding onto her." Gaara responded simply.
"Your mother who supposedly died to give birth to you? Who still had you inside her when your father sealed the One Tail inside you?" Kushina questioned?
Gaara turned to her, "How...how do you know?"
Kushina smiled, "I have access to most of Naruto's memories."
"Uh, Mom, can we talk about that total privacy invasion later, please?" Naruto begged.
Kushina turned to her son, "Sure Son, we can discuss boundaries later." Kushina's smile turned into a frown, "Now though, let's get to the bottom of this."
Naruto and Gaara both nodded and the trio moved towards the cage.
As the three got closer to the cage, Gaara's mom seemed to win the battle against Shukaku and her body shrunk to normal size. Sand fell all around her. As Gaara, Naruto, and Kushina finally made their way to the front of the cage, Gaara's mom met them at the gate. She had light brown hair, blue eyes. She wore a dark brown ankle length long sleeve dress and a light tan scarf.
"Hello Gaara, you've grown up strong, well stronger than when I last saw you. You were barely too big to fit in my palm." The woman spoke, tears filling her eyes.
Gaara's eyes were wide, "How? Why?"
Gaara's mom smiled gently, "The why is rather simple, I couldn't let them put that monster inside you, they wanted me to die. I made a Jutsu that would super impose my soul onto Shukaku. I underestimated my own will and the power of my Jutsu. Shukaku and I are now sharing a body, it's why our actions appear insane, we're both fighting for control and are stuck in a stalemate. I don't have much time, you need to separate Shukaku from me then I can answer all your questions."
The three nodded and backed away from the cage for a private conversation.
Naruto was the first to speak, "Well it looks like she tried to do what you and Dad did, Mom. The only issue is she didn't have a way to get rid of Shukaku's soul, any Ideas Mom?"
Kushina concentrated for a few minutes, "She's only going to be in control for a few more minutes, so we are going to need a chakra absorption seal to drain Shukaku of his power. We'll put the drained chakra into the new seal. Once she and Shukaku are drained of just about all their energy we can work on some sort of soul separation seal. Then we can place her consciousness and the rest of Shukaku's chakra into the new seal. She'll then absorb Shukaku's Chakra as her own, and become the new One Tail. With Shukaku's soul so weakened, the failing Three Side Seal should be able to hold him. Then all we have to do is remove the old seal from Gaara's back and Shukaku's soul will be released. With no physical body, his soul will be lost forever, until the Reaper gets it anyway. Then he's the afterlife's problem."
"Are there any possible risks or complications we could encounter?" Gaara asked.
Kushina nodded, "Yes, this may give Shukaku a chance to fully possess you. There is also the issue of the chakra rejecting your mother. Then there is the fact that no one has ever in the history of ever separated two souls sharing a body other than the Reaper Death Seal. Since no one, I Repeat NO ONE is going to use that seal here today, we're going to have to make a seal that fits our purpose from scratch."
Naruto smirked, "Let's do this, we'll wait here until you need us Mom."
Kushina walked back up to Gaara's mom, "Hi my Name is Kushina Uzumaki, y'know, I'm the Nine Tailed Fox and I was human just like you. Now we're going to make you like me. So lift up your dress so I can write on your stomach and we'll start the process."
Gaara's mom nodded with a blush, "Karura Sabaku." Karura slipped up her dress nervously.
Kushina pulled out her sealing supplies from a seal on her sleeve. Karura got as close to the bars as she could without pressing against them and Kushina started to paint against her abdomen.
Kushina could all but sense Karura's embarrassment, "How about you tell me about how you got into this mess while I work?" She asked.
Karura looked pissed, "My husband was a real bastard. I outlived my usefulness to him. I bore him a powerful heir in my middle child Kankuro. A strong, beautiful, and smart maiden he could marry off for political gain in my first, Temari. Finally I bore what he found most valuable, a weapon he could turn into a monster, my youngest son Gaara. He couldn't just kill me, that would have drawn too much attention. So he destroyed my body by sealing Shukaku into Gaara before he was born. This action led to Gaara's premature birth, and my death. But I was always smarter than people gave me credit for. I dropped out of the Shinobi Academy in the Hidden Sand because I failed the practical parts of the curriculum. But the academic stuff and the theory was what I excelled in. I became the Kazekage's secretary and later married Rasa. One thing no one knew though was my hobby of studying all kinds of Jutsu. No one suspects the ex- secretary, housewife of knowing how to use Jutsu. I made the Jutsu to save my life and hopefully raise Gaara right. It's my power that controls the sand to protect him, and Shukaku who makes it kill."
As Karura talked Kushina finished her seal, "Ok, we're done here you can drop your dress Karura. I'm sorry about your husband by the way. Funny thing is my situation is born of similar circumstances. I gave birth, had the original Nine Tails ripped out of me by some psycho, hubby and I fought and subdued both the man and the fox, were going to seal it in Naruto, were made into a claw nail shish kabob by the fox, Minato came up with a better plan to make me the new fox, gave up his life twice over for me and our son y'know. The seal I placed on you should drain your's and shukaku's chakra so we can split the beast from you. Just stay strong."
Karura tearilly smiled as Kushina pulled back from the cage. Kushina, Naruto, and Gaara stood off to the side and conversed while Kushina worked on the Soul Splitting Seal. The three waited for what felt like nearly an hour, watching Karura and Shukaku switch back and forth nearly a dozen times. Once she had an Idea of how to make a working seal, Kushina pulled out a large scroll and got to work making a tag.
"Ok, the seal is ready. I think. Our friends are also looking pretty drained, so I think it's time." Kushina spoke, breaking the comfortable conversation, "Gaara, Naruto I'm going to need you two to keep Shukaku busy until I can place the seal tag. Once Karura and Shukaku are separated, you two need to keep him inside the seal while I lead Karura into the new seal." Kushina ordered.
Naruto and Gaara nodded, and the three walked up to the cage. Gaara opened the rusty lock, and the gates opened wide. Kushina made a hand seal and turned off the Chakra Draining Seal
"Bring it on you filthy mortals! I will not be caged any more! I will slaughter you all!" Shukaku roared.
Gaara used his sand to push against Shukaku's sand. Naruto unleashed his hoard of Shadow Clones and Chakra Chains. Once the great beast was bound and countered, Kushina snuck around and slapped a large scroll across Shukaku's back. She pushed some chakra into it and it unfurled. The black ink on the paper turned green, tendrils of pure white chakra emerged from a swirl in the centre of the seal. The tendrils stabbed through various points along Shukaku's body.
"Naruto let go!" Kushina shouted.
Naruto recalled his chains, the white chakra then ripped Shukaku in half. Each half turned into a half sized Shukaku, and a normal sized Karura. Kushina led Karura to the new seal while Gaara and Naruto held off Shukaku.
Kushina and Karura eventually made their way to the new seal, "I know it's not super luxurious, but you will be able to alter it when it's all said and done. Just get in and it should take about a week for you to settle in with all that chakra. Maybe sooner because that's how long it took me, and the Nine Tails is a lot more powerful than the One Tail." Kushina informed the soon to be Tailed Beast.
"Thank you, Mrs. Uzumaki. For all you've done." Karura tearily said as she hugged her redheaded companion.
Kushina hugged Karura back, "Don't thank me yet, there's still a chance this could go wrong. If we get through this, how bout you and I get together and try to figure out how to use our Tailed Beast powers with our sons?"
Karura and Kushina ended their hug and Karura smiled, "Lets. With what the Sand has done to me and my family, I won't let my children go back."
"It's agreed then. I can call in a few favours through my son, with Gaara's red hair we can easily claim he and his siblings are Uzumaki and that they belong with their clan." Kushina said with a mischievous smirk.
Karura gave a small laugh as she walked into the Five Point Star Seal. Kushina shut the gate as Karura felt the influx of power and blacked out. Kushina ran back the way she came toward Gaara and Naruto.
For Naruto and Gaara, containing Shukaku was rather trivial with Shadow Clones, Sand, and Chakra Chains. They held the crippled Tailed Beast with ease until Kushina returned to reapply the Chakra Draining Seal. Once the seal was on the Beast, it was a simple matter of waiting a few minutes for Shukaku to be completely drained. After Shukaku was drained, the rusty cage around him was closed and Naruto, Gaara, and Kushina gathered for a last minute talk.
"Alright Gaara, I'll see you back in the waking world." Naruto said with a smile.
Gaara tried to smile back, not having done it before and being slightly awkward, "See you there, Uzumaki."
Kushina was the last to speak, "Oh, and Gaara, one last thing. Karura wants you and your siblings to defect to the leaf. She'd tell you herself, but according to my experience at least, she's going out cold for a little while."
"I'll tell my siblings." Gaara responded.
Kushina and Naruto nodded and in a flash of light, both were gone.
Naruto jolted away from Gaara and everyone's eyes were on them, "It's ok now, we're all done. I just need to remove the old seal."
"Temari, Kankuro. When Uzumaki is done, I need to talk to you." Gaara spoke, still slightly exhausted.
Naruto removed the Three Side Seal, and just like that Shukaku's soul was released. Without chakra, Shukaku's body dematerialised, his soul was ejected from the material world. All of this culminated in the guarantee of Karura becoming the new One Tail.
"Old seal is gone, and Shukaku's soul with it. Karura will be the new One Tail." Naruto whispered into Gaara's ear.
Naruto walked over to the Leaf Ninja while the Sabaku siblings conversed, "Guys, two things you need to know. One, Gaara's mom had her soul half merged onto Shukaku's and mom and I fixed this so now Gaara's mom replaced Shukaku as the One Tail. Two, Gaara's mom wants her children to defect to the leaf because the Kazekage and the Sand betrayed her and is the reason she died."
Shibi, being the highest ranking member of the group, nodded, "It would be logical for her to wish that. For the Leaf It would also be logical to possess another Jinchuriki. I take it you could also claim they're Uzumaki because of Gaara's red hair. With the Sand's betrayal, we could demand anything we want too. Their citizenship to the village has my vote."
"Be polite Naruto. Shibi is being very generous with his offer. Tell him the Uzumaki clan is grateful." Kushina lectured
Naruto smiled in gratitude, "Thank you, Lord Aburame. Mom says to tell you that the Uzumaki clan is greatful"
Shibi was rather unresponsive, barely giving a nod to the boy. As Naruto and Shibi finished their conversation, so did the Sabaku Siblings.
"I-impossible." Temari spoke reverently.
"Wow." Kankuro said awed.
"You guys ready to come to your new home?" Naruto asked.
Gaara turned his head slowly, "Take us away, Uzumaki."
Naruto walked over and picked Gaara up. The group then turned toward their old and new homes.
