This is the first text of a complete serie of Adele's songs or covers.

You should listen to I can't make you love me the cover of Adele while reading it. I know I cheated a bit, and only kept the lyrics that worked with my story but... that's the way it is!

Enjoy dears xoxoxo

I Can't Make You Love Me

Way before Voldemort's downfall. Bellatrix is 18 years old.

Bellatrix felt a soft kiss on her head. She was so sleepy; she didn't even open her eyes. All she did was to let out a quiet moan. A cold hand was gently stroking her hair, but she didn't really care. She could hear him, but couldn't quite understand what he was saying. He was slowly leaving the bed, but Bella was too tired to try and convince him to stay a little longer.

The morning came, and she woke up when the lights invaded the room. Even though it was a magnificent day, she didn't want to get out of his bed. She turned around, and closed her eyes again. She hoped she could sleep through all of this. She hated it when he had to leave her in the middle of the night. Without him, the bed was far too big and far too cold. A single tear escaped her eye. He was so close, and yet so far away from her. She hated him, but loved him more.

At age 18, Bellatrix already understood that when a heart wouldn't feel something, you couldn't force it to – let alone when you were not sure that the loved one had even a heart under his thick armour. However, she embraced this pain, in order to receive attention from the one she was so in love with.

Then, she suddenly could smell his perfume on the pillow. He smelled like a mix of lavender, vanilla and mint. His perfume somehow always transferred to Bella's hair. She would carry his scent on her all day long; it tortured her just a little bit more, but at the same time it made her feel safe.

She wanted to leave him, but simply couldn't. She wanted to give up this fight, to finally stop this excruciating pain she felt every time he left the bed in the middle of the night like he had just done. However, he would never let her go. She was his.

She wished he could just hold her tight. She ached for his calming touch.

She wished that all the questions in her head would just disappear, so she could eventually be happy. Just happy, with no patronizing involved. If only for a minute they could simply be themselves. Not a master and a servant. Only lovers. She would give anything to stop the course of time when she was with him, lying in bed, chest to chest.

The love she had for him was invading her mind, even if she didn't want to. She would have done anything to make him feel for her what she felt for him, but he could never love her.

This is, my friends, the first text of a complete series of songfic on Adele's song. I am a fan of her work, she is such a great artist and human being.

Hope you liked it xoxo

I love this song because it is so beautiful and touching xoxo

P.s. Adele's version is better than Bonny Raitt. End of the story. Adele should be queen. End of the story.

Parts of the song that inspired me...

Turn down these voices inside my head
Lay down with me, tell me no lies
Just hold me close, don't patronize

Cause I can't make you love me if you don't
You can't make your heart feel something it won't

I'll close my eyes, then I won't see
The love you don't feel when you're holdin me

Morning will come and I'll do what's right
Just give me till then to give up this fight

And thx to my dear beta Inkfire xoxox
