Young Justice: Prayer to the Stars

Chapter one: Magic Trails

My name is Caster Rageheart, I come from a planet called Chrystallin. My world is being attacked by our enemies, the Hargons. Both kinds use magic but the people of Hargon are suffering from magic deterioration due to the destruction of their magic core and in 6 months time, magic will cease to exist in their world. The only way they think they can continue using magic is to invade our planet and steal our core. The Hargons are gaining the upper hand in the war. My people are starting to lose hope. My parents decide to divide the core and give one half to me and the other to my older brother Crimson, but he objected.

"This is absurd! You know if you divide the core our people might die!" a dark haired boy yelled at the older man.

My father answered, "It is the only way we can protect it and the future of our planet."

Just as Crimson was about to reply, his body started swaying and fell into my mother's arms.

"We have no time my son, come Caster," my mother urged me to follow her.

We were running down the halls, past guards, sorcerers, magicians and all the kinds of magic users who are going to the war outside the palace. I felt a horrible sense of guilt in me, while they were going to war, we were leaving. But there was no other way out, was there? I shook my head a bit to clear my mind off these thoughts.

My parents lead us to a room where there were two capsules waiting for us. One for me and one for my brother.

"The coordinates are set to a planet called Earth. You will be safe there," father said.

Mother placed the core my brother's coat pocket and kissed his forehead before putting him down inside the capsule. She walked over to me and cupped my cheek with her hand.

"Remember Caster, your father and I love the both of you so much," she hugged me tight.

I tried my best not to cry, but luckily, only a few tears fell as I hugged her back.

"I know mum."

"Take care of each other and keep the core safe. The both of you are the future of this planet, and we leave our lives in your hands."

I nod in understandly, but to be honest, that was a lot to take in. Leaving this huge responsibility on a boy's shoulder's was too much, but I had to do this, for them and the planet. I go in the capsule and my parents faces were the last things I saw before passing out.

When I woke up, I felt that something was not right. Something was very different.

I wasn't in the capsule anymore, no, I was on a grassy field, somewhat like a park and I don't see my brother beside me. There were a few eyes staring at me, but I didn't mind, this must be earth. My clothes are dirty from the soil, and I feel for my pocket to make sure the half of the core was still there. I was greatly relieved to find it there. The scene was peaceful, and I felt like I could sleep again. I laid my head back down on the grass as the stares went away. I looked at the sky and hoped that my parents were okay, but then I realize something. Without Crimson here, there was only one thing that could describe me.

I was lost.
