"This scenery," Peyton mused, "Reminds me of Paris in the real world."
"It would be alot better without," Jordan said before singing, "Puppets~" She used a microphone-amplified Hyper Voice that hit several teal Inkling puppets.
"I suppose you are right," Peyton agreed before landing a Peach Bomber on a Morton Koopa puppet. She followed up with a Vegetable Pick, getting a Bomb-Omb and threw it. The living explosive exploded on contact, turning the puppet into a Murch spirit.
Yen's mouth wiggled and wormed before the prehistoric host regurgitated a Mii Brawler dressed as Spring Man. Scraping his tongue in a haste, Yen fired a blast of rainbow that reverted the puppet into its corporeal form.
A light blue R.O.B. fired lasers at Violet. The kid carefully dodged them before landing a Lliod Rocket. She followed up with swinging her ax into the chassis of the robot and reverted it back into a Morita puppet.
Just as they thought they were in the clear, two giant hands grabbed Kyle and began to squeeze him.
"Kyle!"
Jordan was about to intervene when another set of hands extended and tried to pummel her. The popstar dodged left and right before inflating herself.
Yen was prepared to intervene when a reddish-brown furred Donkey Kong came charging out and plowed a Giant Punch into the Chinese. Violet was ready to dual the ape, putting up her guard with her boxing gloves. The ape looked cockily at his opponent and pounded his fist together.
Peyton was quick to help, using Therapy to heal Yen from the surprise attack when another R.O.B. appeared with a Dr. Mario puppet.
Kyle struggled to escape the crushing grasp of his assailant. Squirming around, the pink-haired boy managed to use Stone Change into a Thwomp causing the hands to release him. Once freed, the hands retreated before the owner appeared.
The hands belonged to a flexible woman in a blue tee and black yoga pants. Her gray dyed hair was in the form of a ponytail. On the blue tee, the words "Wii Fit" were bolded in white.
Tisa, the host of the female Wii Fit Trainer, huffed at losing her target. "You just can't keep still, can you?"
Kyle huffed at the claim. "Drop out of my friend's body and maybe I will."
Tisa's face grew a sickly smile. "I think not. I'll be sure to work up a sweat beating you."
"And like the puppets from before, I doubt it," Kyle muttered to himself, tired of hearing the same speech over and over again from Galeem's army.
Tisa stretched herself before using Sun Salutation to blast Kyle. The pinkette Inhaled it and spat it back but the flexible woman avoided it by extending her arms to Lumiose Tower. Rebounding off it, Tisa threw her left foot out and attempted to flatten the pink host but Kyle grabbed it and pulled her forward. He responded with a Rising Break, effectively nailing the female yoga enthusiast.
Jordan, on the other hand, was dealing with a flexible man with gray hair in a gray tee and black yoga pants similar to Tisa.
William, the host of the male Wii Fit Trainer, extended his arms nonstop, trying to grab the popstar like his partner did mere moments ago. Jordan threw several Hidden Powers, causing the flexible male to cringe. Retracting them, he shook off the pain as he glared.
Jordan used a Psywave but William managed to avoid it. Using his momentum, William extended his arms and got enough to land a Dancer Pose on the popstar and followed up with a Warrior Pose. The host of Jigglypuff sprawled across the ground and winced. With her palm forward, she conjured a Reflect to protect herself from the flexible man's Lunge combo.
Peyton and Yen tag teamed them as the princess host wailed her frying pan into the Dr. Mario puppet while the dinosaur host landed a Yoshi Bomb onto the giant R.O.B. The host of Princess Peach used Sleepy Time causing their enemies to sleep/power down. The finishing move was Peyton using her Anger Vibe and slammed her parasol fiercely against the doctor puppet, resulting in the Hal Emmerich spirit being freed.
"On our wa-" Yen started but was blindsided by a Jolt Haymaker. The thrower was a medium height boy with black hair. He had on a black A-frame shirt, green shorts, and black Converses. On his hands, he wore green boxing gloves.
Micah, the host of Little Mac, had a smug look to compliment his red eyes. Yen massaged his jaw then shot the boxer a glare. "Seriously?!"
"Watch your six." Micah responded and charged with a Straight Lunge. Yen formed his egg shield, tanking the hit and retaliated with a tail slap.
Violet had managed to trick the Donkey Kong puppet and defeat him before running to aid Yen. Unfortunately, she felt herself caught in some psychic grasp and was hurled to the top of a building with Peyton. Getting up, the kid saw the culprit.
A teal Squirtle puppet held his head in pain while an Isabelle puppet in pink comforted it. Peyton responded with Vegetable Pick and threw a turnip at the clone secretary while Violet fired a few pebbles from her slingshot.
Back with the fitness duo, Jordan and Kyle went back to back as Tisa and William stretched their limbs.
"They seem way more adapted this time." Kyle commented.
"And slippery." Jordan added. "What are you thinking?"
"They basically grab and constrict us." Kyle noticed, "And if we get free, we get a yoga move to the face."
"Well, it's not like we can deal a solid hit." Jordan reminded him. "They are flexible."
"And we are inflatable." Kyle said with a wink. The popstar realized what he meant and was ready.
"Give up yet?" Tisa called out.
"Ready to submit?" William chided.
Both pink-colored hosts didn't back down, causing the two trainers to sigh. "Too bad." The hosts of the Wii Fit Trainers threw out their hands, ready to crush the pink hosts.
"Now!" Kyle shouted and ducked while Jordan used her unique balloon physiology to deflate. This caused Tisa and William to miss and get their fingers tangled together.
"Get them!" Kyle used his Cutter Copy Ability and threw several blades. Each struck Tisa until the host of Kirby landed Cleaving Cutter then a Hyper Cutter, hitting several times until she was sent flying.
Jordan inflated herself and ran in with Rollout, scoring a hit. She followed up with Wake-Up Slap and a Fire Punch, resulting in the male yoga trainer colliding with Tisa. The hosts of Wii Fit Trainers slumped down, defeated.
Back with Yen, the Chinese slammed a headbutt into Micah. The boxer skidded across the ground but picked himself up. Yen fired a ray of rainbow but the little host dodged it and went for a right hook. Yen was hit then received more jabs afterwards. Micah threw a meaty uppercut, juggling Yen in the air but the foodie dropped with Yoshi Bomb.
Micah was hit and shot with a rainbow blast from Yen. The host of Yoshi then spat his tongue out before heaving the boxer around several times then slammed into the ground. Micah fell unconscious after that and Yen wiped his tongue off from that.
A few minutes later, Tisa and William had woken up. "Hey, what hit me?" Tisa questioned.
"That would be me." Kyle reluctantly said. The two yoga enthusiasts got to their feet and stretched diligently.
"I'm guessing we have to save the world?" William responded, touching his toes.
"Pretty much." Jordan confirmed. "Just need to wait for Micah to wake up." No sooner as that was said, the boxer himself rose up. Placing his glove to his head, Micah shook himself awake.
"Anyone want to tell me why it felt like I got hit by a rock?" Micah quizzed. Yen whistled innocently, not wanting to indulge the boxer in his source of freedom.
"Save that for after we save the world." Violet answered, floating down with Peyton. The two had saved the Psyduck and Harriet spirits.
"I think that should be all of them." Kyle said, dusting his hands off. Jerking his thumb over, the host of Kirby continued. "One more sweep?" Everyone nodded and raced off. Soon, after a few more spirit fights, Micah came across a blue staircase.
"Yo! Anyone notice the stairs?" The boxer shouted, bringing the team over.
"I don't recall seeing it." Jordan admitted.
"No time like the present to see." Kyle shrugged and headed down with the others in tow.
"Geez, it's so dark in here," Brian said immediately as they entered the power plant.
"Hang on," Phil said before using Flash to bring some brightness. "Better?"
Brian grumbled a quick thanks while Irene was more outgoing, "Thank you, Mr. Phil!"
"No problem."
Finn and Steven lead the group, keeping their guard while Diego sniffed the ground for any of their captured allies. The hunter was on all fours while his duck partner was taking aerial surveillance.
Sniffing around, Diego got a smell. "I got something!" He exclaimed.
"What is it?" Steven asked once everyone gathered around.
"It's… It's…" Diego continued to sniff before colliding with a stand that housed a yellow fish emitting electricity.
"What is that?" Brian voiced everyone's thoughts.
'Hey, it's one of those fishes from where those squid kids are!' Bowser explained to his host. 'A Zapfish! I think.'
"I think it's a powersource for this place." Phil thought. He reached out and took it, the voltage doing nothing since he absorbed it.
"Are we holding onto it for safekeeping?" Finn questioned. Phil shrugged, "We can't just leave it in the hands of Galeem." And the hosts left.
From a ventilation shaft, red eyes glared as it watched them leave. The possessed host quickly crawled through the vents to meet her commanding officer of the Power Plant.
Once the hosts left, Diego found something else, a gap between them. "Oh great."
"How the hell are we supposed to get across?" Brian shouted.
"Language." Irene scolded the bully.
Phil saw a port of some sort and the Zapfish in his hands. Thinking about it, he tested a theory and placed the Zapfish on the port, causing a platform to appear.
"How did you do that?" Finn asked.
"I get it now." Phil realized. "These Zapfish help with generating power and these ports allow us to access them.
Steven was the first to cross but a light blue Mega Man and Doctor Mario duo stood in their way. "Have at thee!" The swordsman responded and used Power Thrust to engage them.
From there on out, the hosts came across more and more Zapfish and puppets alike. Eventually, they came across a generator with tons of voltage escaping it.
"I take it that's our target." Brian haughty said and was prepared to interfere when a Shock Wave hit him.
On top of the generator, a captured host landed on all fours. It was a girl with outgoing yellow hair that gave off the impression of Albert Einstein. She had a yellow shirt with short black sleeve and black joggers. She had a short black zig-zag tail behind her.
'Seems you are snooping too close for Galeem's liking.' Phoebe, the host of Pichu, snarled. Her hair generated static to go along with her threat.
Phil, seeing his little sister under Galeem's influence, crouched on all fours, emitting sparks and responding. "Is she ruffled?"
Phoebe's eyes narrowed, 'Very.'
"Then I think we won't stop." The electrician replied and fired a Thunderbolt.
Phoebe avoided with Quick Attack and threw a Thunder Wave that caught Brian in his tracks. She tucked in and nailed a Skull Bash into the bully. After she was done with him, Diego took point, firing his NES Zapper.
The young electrician zipped all over the place, dodging the hunter's aim nonstop. She eventually tried to close in but a Gunman was summoned and blasted her. Steven swung a Gale Strike, picking up the host of Pichu and hit her with Skyward Slash Dash. At close range, however, Phoebe used Charm, lowering Steven's defense then unleashed Thunder.
After charring the swordsman, Phoebe threw a Thunder Jolt that was Pocketed by Irene. Finn tagged her with a shot from his blaster -having it on stun- then threw a roundhouse. Phoebe's tail sparked before throwing an Electroweb across the floor, zapping a majority of the hosts. Phil used Iron Tail, conducting the electricity and sent it back in the form of Charge Beam.
Phoebe threw up a Protect but Brian unleashed his Fire Breath combined with the Charge Beam and weakened it. Phoebe split herself using Double Team, three clones and went for a Thunder Punch at Brian. The host of Bowser blocked them all, taking minimal damage then spun around with Whirling Fortress, striking all three.
Phoebe was thrown in the air and Phil struck downard with Rock Smash, directly in the gut. This took the young electrician out of commission.
"Since when did your little sister get strong?" Finn asked, walking over.
"Training on her own." Phil explained. Leaning down to her level, he picked up the Light Orb in her pocket. "Plus that. Gives a boost to Electric attacks in our spirits evolution line."
"Well, I hate to admit it, but she did improve." Brian begrudgingly admitted. A few minutes later, Phoebe came to, clutching her stomach.
"Why do I feel my stomach churning?" Phoebe groaned in pain.
"I may have hit you with Rock Smash." Phil sheepishly admitted before being tackled by her.
"Phil!" Phoebe squealed in joy at seeing her older brother. After releasing him, she shook herself. "What happened? And where's Perri?"
"Galeem used you and almost everyone else for her conquest. It's up to us to fix it. And she's okay. Just with another group." Phil explained. Phoebe nodded, understanding the stakes.
"Now that's settled, let's bust up this generator." Finn said.
"I d-d-d-d-d-don't think so!" A voice said.
From above the generator, a UFO like aircraft descended, green rave lights emitting from it. DJ Octavio spun his discs, playing EDM music. "GYAH HA HA! You must be the hosts I've heard about! Talk about some party fowls!"
"What's up with MC tentacles?" Brian snarked.
"The n-n-n-n-name is DJ Octavio! Leader of the Octolings! And defender of the Great Zapfish power source for Galeem's rule!" The Octoling commander stated. He spun his discs more.
"Something tells us that you aren't just gonna let us stop that generator are you?" Phil plainly stated.
"Nope!" DJ Octavio shot back. Spinning his discs once more, the green lights reached the ends of his aircraft and allowed a set of fists on the ends to appear. "Time to remix your faces!" With a spin, the fists launched at the hosts, who prepared to engage the Octorian.
"That boat ride was eerily calm," Mason said. Matt's group had a peaceful ride to the airport that they had spotted earlier and decided to investigate it. It seemed ordinary, even having an airplane stationed outside but it didn't calm their nerves since everything they encountered was out to get them.
Opening the doors of the building, the lobby was pitch black. Matt provided some light with a fireball in his palm and the group began to wander around. Soon, an odd sight greeted them. "Is that an arcade game?" Daniel said aloud.
Sure enough, a blue arcade game had been positioned in the middle of the airport.
Each host carefully observed the paint and machine as a whole, careful not to try any tricks.
Carlos, on the other hand, looked rather impatient. "Well, this is boring."
"Carlos, instead of standing around and doing nothing, maybe you should help?" Lewis offered.
The hotshot racer scoffed at the suggestion. "Look, while we are here, who knows what Galeem is doing. We are basically giving her prep time."
The veteran hosts rolled their eyes. Matt read the name of the game aloud. "Street Fighter."
'Street Fighter?!' Mario exclaimed.
"You know this game?" Matt asked his spirit.
'That's what the Announcer called the universe Ryu and Ken came from!' Mario remembered.
"It's apparently the universe or rather game where Ryder and Kevin's spirits come from." Matt relayed to his friends.
"So, what you are saying is Ryder or Kevin could potentially be in there?" Victor realized.
"That's the working theory."
Carlos cracked his knuckles, "Then let's get smashing." He winded up a Falcon Punch before the arcade game began to shake and the screen came to life. "What the-!"
The screen began to emit a beam that digitize multiple hosts. Once it stopped, the game said. "STREET FIGHTER!"
Mason was the remaining host. He was stunned at what happened. His moment of shock ended when the glass of the airport was shattered, causing him to grab his Falchion.
A black robed King Dedede whirled his hammer threateningly. Four Kirby puppets wielding Star Rods glared at the Royal. And a magenta Inkling smirked as she had the hosts right where they were.
Matt, Stephanie, Carlos, Luke, Daniel, Lewis, Victor, and Perri found themselves bound by blue bands, much like before.
"Not again…" Matt groaned.
"Welcome lucky fighters…" An eerie voice said before a purple mist appeared. It manifested into a man in a red general outfit. His cape bellowed in behind him. His eyes lacked pupils, only white irises. And a confident smile was present on his face.
"I have hear of those that have wished to rid Galeem's rule." M. Bison, leader of Shadowloo, said, "Frankly, I am not impressed."
"Oh, and you're doing any better?" Perri sharply replied.
"Galeem had set this trap for you." The general revealed. "While she didn't know who it would capture, it proved fruitful. I have several puppets that shall defeat, including myself. And once we have done so, you will be apart of Galeem's reign once more."
"And done with the monologue. Like geez!" Carlos exasperated.
"A volunteer? Great." M. Bison smiled as the racer realized what was next. The general snapped his fingers and Carlos was taken to a stage.
Landing on his feet, Carlos noticed he was on top of Onett in its omega form. A flash of light occurred and from it a dark blue Zero Suit Samus appeared without her Paralyzer. Eyes gleaming red, she quickly went first.
The rest of the hosts watched from a screen as M. Bison had a triumphant look on his face.
The puppet started with a roundhouse kick, getting Carlos' face before doing a split kick. The hotshot did a backspring and got back up. The huntress unleashed a flurry of kicks but Carlos sidestepped them. He threw a roundhouse of his own, igniting it with fire and scored a hit. He proceeded to follow up with jabs and kicks, giving the puppet quite a pummeling. Once he was finished, Zero Suit Samus was dazed and left her open to Falcon Punch.
The defeated puppet returned to Chun Li, who floated away.
"If that was the best to offer, I'm glad I'm no longer on Galeem's team." Carlos said, wiping his hands in satisfaction. After he said that, he was warped away.
The other hosts looked beside them but they didn't see Carlos. "Where did he go?" Daniel asked.
M. Bison hovered ominously and scowled. "A lucky win. The next one wouldn't be so lucky." The Leader of Shadoloo eyed them before choosing his next victim. "You."
Perri raised an eyebrow before getting pumped. "Alright. Bring it on!"
She vanished and landed on the Jungle Japes stage and her opponent was a green-furred Donkey Kong. The ape emitted a few sparks of electricity before charging forward. Perri blitzed with a Quick Attack then a Thunder Punch.
From here on out, M. Bison chose host after host to fall to his army only to lose and his anger become more present.
The Incineroar who housed Zangief was formidable but Daniel outsmarted him and gave him quite a zap.
Thinking it would be an easy win, M. Bison chose Victor to take on the Little Mac puppet. However, the kid was more crafty and with a Timber saved Balrog.
Stephanie took on a dark-masked Meta Knight, proving to be somewhat difficult. However, the Sheikah managed to come out on top with a Bouncing Fish and set Vega's spirit free.
Lewis calmly dealt with the Ryu puppet, landing a Force Palm and a Flash Cannon that defeated Sagat.
All that was left was Matt and Luke. Every defeat made M. Bison's scowl got deeper and deeper.
"Looks like you are all out of puppets." Matt remarked as Luke bore a grin.
M. Bison composed himself and started chuckling before laughing heartily. The two hosts shared a look before raising at the general's delusion.
"You seem to be forgetting that I, myself, am quite the fighter." M. Bison boasted. "My Psycho Powers are fair better than yours."
"I create fire, have access to multiple items that give me a boost, and my friend over here has a legendary sword and a device that creates bombs, stops time and other things." Matt explained. "What makes you think your stats are better than ours?"
Bison snapped his fingers and they were taken to Suzaku Castle Omega form. When they got there, the general floated next to his ally: a muscular teenager with black hair in a white gi with a black karate belt and red headband.
Ryder, the host of Ryu, fixed his red combat gloves and pounded his fists together. Cracking his neck, the martial artist glared, got in a fighting stance while Bison floated ominously.
"Well, it seems you have one more." Luke noted and pulled out the Royal Claymore to combat the dictator and free their friend.
The black belt fired an Hadoken which Matt dodged. The Italian ignited his fists with fire, throwing a punch that Ryder blocked with his own. He then threw a Solar Plexus Strike and continued with an Ax Kick into a Jodan Sanengeki. The hits disoriented Matt and left him open to a grab into Somersault Throw.
Luke held up his Hylian Shield, blocking several Psycho Shots, and threw a Tri-Lizal Boomerang. M. Bison avoided to the left and dove with Psycho Crusher. Luke pulled out the Sheikah Slate and activated the Stasis rune. Stopped in place, the leader of Shadoloo was hit with Great Spin and brought out the Thunderblade, landing several electrifying hits. By the time the Stasis wore off, M. Bison was sent flying but he caught himself, levitating menacingly. Descending down, he went for Head Drop then a Devil Reserve. The combination of attacks left the courageous host dazed.
Matt had picked himself up and dodged a Collarbone Breaker from Ryder. In retaliation, the Italian planned to use his Ultra Hammer, swinging but the martial artist soaked up the hit with Focus Attack, stunning Matt into a Tatsumaki Senpukyaku then a Jodan Nirengaki. Ryder glared at his opponent, annoyed how Matt wasn't being much of a challenge. With his mind focused on the fight, he was rather silent. Matt got up and pulled out a Super Bell. Turning into Cat Matt, he flashed his claws, jumped and landed a double claw swipe before darting around and pummeling Ryder.
Luke got staggered from M. Bison's Shadow Axe into Double Knee Press. However, the courageous host held on, using Daruk's Protection when the general tried to land a Psycho Inferno. With Bison disoriented from making contact with the forcefield, Luke pulled out the Savage Lynel Crusher and heaved it, landing three strikes against his opponent then clobbered him with an overhead strike. M. Bison bounced back but got a faceful of Flurry Rush from Luke's Ancient Buzzsaw then fired a precise shot from his Ancient Bow and Arrow. The arrow blasted M. Bison away and he landed with a thud.
Matt's fight had changed for the freed host. Landing various swipes and his agile now doubled with feline grace, Matt was outpacing Ryder. In an act of finality, Ryder prepared a Shoryuken only to miss and was hit with Matt's Ultra Hammer, slamming him into the ground. The martial artist cratered into the stage about to rise but Matt used a Drill Spin, taking him out and freeing his control from Galeem.
Luke ran over to his friend, "Everything good?"
"All good on my end." Matt remarked, standing up triumphantly, "Yours?" Luke jerked his head to wear the leader of Shadoloo was, eliciting a 'ah' from the Italian.
"So… you managed to best me…" M. Bison said, weakly, drawing eyes on him. He coughed before his body began to flicker. "But you won't succeed… in defeating… Galeem."
"I think we have a shot." Matt said, his tone confident and not cocky.
M. Bison let out an amused snort. "So be it. Just because you beat me and saved your ally, doesn't mean… you have won the war. And plus… Galeem's not the only threat…"
Both Original Twelve hosts rose an eyebrow and were about to ask but M. Bison flickered into a spirit depicting himself. The spirit hovered over to them and they all left Suzaku Castle.
After defeating M. Bison, Matt, Luke, and an unconscious Ryder appeared out of the arcade game and saw the rest of the other hosts. The arcade game proceeded to fade away from existence.
"Glad that's over." Matt mused, rolling his arms. "Anything troublesome on your end, Mason?"
Mason nodded, "Had to deal with some puppets while you were trapped. However when Carlos got out, the odds turned to my favor. I've been waiting since."
Matt nodded. "Well, let's take five everyone. Wait for Ryder."
Five minutes later, the martial artist stirred. "Wha-?"
"Short version: world ended. Up to us to save it." Carlos bluntly stated as he helped Ryder up.
"I see." Ryder mused, cracking his knuckles. "I take it that whatever attacked us is responsible?"
"A." Carlos said, holding up an 'OK' sign.
"Well, now-a that you are up and active. Let's get out of this airport." Matt said. "There was another piece of land on the opposite side. But we saw this structure and wondered what was in it. Good thing we did."
"Now let's get out of here." Luke declared and the hosts left the airport.
