Making plans
When Liv and Luke showed up, she and Kol moved with them to the office so they can discuss this plan of Kol's. in the meantime, they are leaving Klaus and Elijah to go through the last details of how to deal with Freya. When they left them, the suggestion was to allow her to use Rebekah's home which is currently empty and to please Klaus someone should always be there to keep an eye on her. She just hopes that they can come to a decision without too much arguing.
Trying to put those thoughts to the side she put her focus on Kol's plan and the explanation she is getting from the twins of how their coven works, specifically a ritual that she must admit sounds horrible. Why does every ritual have to include a sacrifice of life can't they have one where you only have to bleed a little or something or is that too much to ask?
But from what she understands, the plan is that she will change the ritual so that instead of dying one of them will be left as a human. Which, if she succeeds, great, it's just that she has no idea of how it's going to work.
After having heard all, they have to say she is looking slightly confused at them. "I really hope there's an explanation of how I'm supposed to do this."
"Imagine that it's like what you did to Elena, just bigger." Kol tries to explain it. "You have to force your magic through them at the same time that they are doing the merge, so it becomes a part of the ritual." He puts it like it's the simplest thing in the world.
A sigh leaves her. "You're aware that I had no idea of what I did with Elena, right? I only tried to stop her from harming anyone and possibly bringing back her humanity, which lead to me erasing her memories."
"But you used the power after your will." Right, because their attempts at giving her some control with Bonnie's spells have worked wonders.
"This is sounding promising," Luke comments with a tone that says the complete opposite. "Can I ask how you are planning on getting her close to the ritual, it's not like our coven is going to allow her to just wander in?"
"Our coven doesn't actually need to be there." Liv points out so maybe it's not as big of a problem as the rest of them. "If we can find a way to get away from them and do it ourselves." She is looking slightly uncertain. "I mean, 22 is the number the coven has the merge at, I know I said that we had to wait, but that is more that I'm not about to have one of us walk into an even earlier grave if this goes wrong."
"Even if we theoretically could do it tomorrow, I need to figure out a way to work my magic, it has always just been instincts." Even curing Tyler, she only did what felt right, this time nature should scream at her that this is wrong.
"So, we find a state of mind that is going to work for you," Kol says. "You said that with Elena it was to focus on her humanity, here it might be to save a life, and if you succeed you might also be saving Kaiden. We aren't short on motivation." No, they are not, but that doesn't mean that it will be easy.
Something that might make it easier for her is if she had something or someone to focus on instead of spreading her magic through the whole ritual. It's just that it leads to a somewhat sensitive question. "You don't happen to know who is most likely to lose?" she asks the twins. "If I can focus my magic on that, one to keep alive…" it might help.
The siblings are exchanging glances with one another. It takes a while before Liv gives her an answer. "Luke has always felt stronger than me." But they can't be sure.
"Give me your hands." She asks them. "Maybe I can feel something, and if nothing else I should at least get a feeling for the magic I'm supposed to mix with." She wants as much information as she can get.
Since Kol and Caroline had gotten occupied by the Gemini-twins and leaving her alone with Klaus wasn't an option the decision of whom to take the first guard had rather easily fallen on Elijah. It has at least become his responsibility to bring her to the second property the family owns in Mystic Falls.
She might have expected too much when she hoped that they would welcome and trust her, but this is better than nothing. And from what she has noticed, Elijah appears to be the one most willing to let her in.
She sighs as she steps into the mansion that is supposed to belong to Rebekah. "I thought you all resided in the same home here in Mystic Falls?"
"There were some difficulties between Niklaus and Rebekah," Elijah explains. "I can't say that she has used it much." It barely looks lived in.
But it is at least a place for her to stay. "Klaus doesn't appear to put much faith in me." with everything she has shared, how can he not see that she doesn't want to harm his son? She only wants her freedom from Dahlia.
"Niklaus is well known for his paranoia and inability to let people in." it's not like she has missed that, but she is still family. "I would say that Miss Forbes has been a welcomed surprise in that regard, so some advice, you want him to if not necessarily trust you but accept your presence, ask her."
Kaiden's mother did act more open and showed a will to listen and understand. But as the embodiment of nature maybe it should be expected. They do also have a sort of connection as witches. At the same time, she doesn't understand what answers they are hoping to gain from Esther.
It's not like she got any information of their plans, not more than they want to go against the spirits something that sounds bad. If they are warning Caroline of the danger,v if everything she is a creation of is telling her no, shouldn't she listen? It's also not like Esther should hold any information that they can't get from Freya herself.
But she doesn't think arguing against them will get her anything, instead, she can prepare for when Dahlia inevitably arrives, and to help in case their plan goes wrong. If she can prove that she is of use, maybe it can help get them on her side.
"What's important is that we defeat Dahlia." She says with a slight smile. "What comes after we can deal with then." She hopes for the family she's always dreamed of, because what would it be worth to be free from Dahlia if she is only left all alone?
Travelling around to their allies hasn't given much. At best she has been given a, it's not impossible for a witch to keep themselves alive for over a thousand years, something they already knew if not only from Freya, then previously Cyrena and their own mother's resurrection did point to the possibilities.
There has been little luck when it comes to any useful information about Dahlia. Their aunt appears to be as secretive if not more so than Cyrena. She really misses the witch; she wouldn't be surprised if the one ally with the answers is the one that she can't reach.
Her brothers had given her their updates on the meeting with Freya. From what she understood, the two witches are immortal and for the moment their best chance at taking down Dahlia is to work with Freya. Listening to Klaus, it was quite obvious that he isn't happy about the situation.
Elijah had sounded more willing to let her in and Kol seemed focused on the much more interesting and fun task of disobeying the spirits to have an opinion on the matter. It is at least comforting that they do have an idea of how Caroline can speak with their mother, it's also scary that the two people they can turn to for information they either know nothing about or have wanted them dead.
She sighs and tries to focus on her own conundrum, is it better to give up this hunt for information and return home or should she give it a little more time? "It's obvious that things aren't going as you have hoped." She rolls her eyes at Enzo's words.
The vampire had offered to tag along, he fought she might enjoy the company and it gave him a chance to see more of how the world had evolved outside of Mystic Falls. She will admit that he was right about his first thought.
"I'm not sure what I hoped, but not receiving anything is still under my expectations." She says and gets up to leave the café they are sitting in. "So, I'm starting to think it's time to give up on this and start planning on how we defend ourselves instead."
"And how does one defend themselves against an ancient and from what it sounds immortal witch that is willing to kill everything in her way?"
She shrugs. "Last time this happened we sent Caroline on him, and I tore out his heart, so we are hoping that miss Nature can figure out a way to slow down Dahlia, and hopefully Freya knows how we kill her. Then all we can do is pray that everything doesn't go wrong."
"A lot of hoping in that plan." Unfortunately, that is all they have at the moment. "And are you guys in a habit of attracting the ancient and immortals?"
"We are the ancient and immortals, it sort of comes with the territory." She says as she steps out on the street and freezes. All around them are dark red almost black flowers blooming and they were definitely not there when they went inside the café. "Are you seeing what I'm seeing?"
"You mean the flowers surrounding us?" she nods, so she isn't going crazy. "I'm going to assume this is bad."
"They're Dahlias," she says and swallows. "Maybe time to get home."
When she starts moving towards her car Enzo grips her arm. "Unless that's the point here." He says and keeps a watchful eye around them. "You had a way of making it harder for the witch to find the little one, right?" she nods and starts to understand what he means.
"Bloody hell." She swears. "If Dahlia has found us, if she doesn't know where the family is yet, we could lead her right to Kaiden." She picks up her phone, her brothers need to know what has happened, and they need to decide if she should stay away, leaving them one less to fight Dahlia or risk leading her right to her target.
