After everything that Commander Shepard had seen and done, after all the sacrifice and suffering he and his loved ones had gone through to get this far, he'd hoped- no, prayed that using the Crucible and sacrificing his life in an effort to accomplish what the Illusive Man couldn't would finally bring some semblance of peace to the galaxy.

So why was it that he was waking up in what appeared to be a hospital room, instead of wherever it is humans ended up after death?

The next month goes by in a blur, so many new and incredible things that are explained, so many horrors and tragedies that needed to be heard.

Once he's well enough to do more than just walk around, the people who had found him give him a choice.

He can either leave and find some random quiet planet to spend the rest of his days in relative peace, no strings attached, or he can join the Republic Army, and see just for himself why they oppose the Sith.

It's no choice at all, not really, not when there's an entirely new galaxy in desperate need of saving.

And so it is that Commander Shepard once again finds himself embroiled in a war to decide the fate of an entire galaxy.
