Chapter 13: A Shocking Event

That night, Gregory and Anya were tired from exploring and had fallen asleep on the couch in the living room. Yor smiled. "I think exploring the farm today was a welcome distraction for them," she said.

"For all of us, I'd say," Chica said.

"It certainly was an eventful day," Sun said.

Kayla just barely managed to hold back a yawn, but Moon noticed. "You're exhausted, Kayla," he said, his voice gentle.

"Just a little," she said.

He shook his head. "Nope, not just a little," he said, going over to her and resting a hand on her shoulder. "You've been running yourself ragged in getting us to safety and you didn't get much sleep the past two days on the road."

James nodded. "He's right, kiddo," he said. "I may be used to staying up for two days, but even that's not good for me to keep doing."

Vanessa felt her eyes start to droop and Sun noticed. "You're tired too, Vanessa," he said softly.

"It's understandable," Misterioso said, his tone gentle. "The past few days have been hectic for them and the rest of us."

"Not to mention Vanny is still out there and looking for us," Kayla said, covering her mouth as a yawn escaped her. "I have to check with Charles and see if the info Misterioso gathered for us will suffice against Fazbear Corp. and stop the sale they are pushing for."

"I'm sure it will be," Freddy said soothingly. "But I do agree with the others. You all need rest."

DJ Music Man nodded. "I'll keep guard," he said.

"I'll patrol on a regular basis tonight," Moon said, his security protocol kicking in.

Loid nodded. "Let's all get some sleep," he said.

Freddy scooped up Gregory and Roxy picked up Anya while Sonar hugged Kayla before Sun scooped her up. "I'll help DJ and Moon keep guard tonight," he said.

She nodded before Sun walked down the hallway and Monty scooped up Vanessa, following them. Loid and Yor brought up the rear and James showed them where they all could rest and it wasn't long before the kids were tucked into bed and the adults were as well. Some of the animatronics powered down while a few stayed awake, keeping watch.

Moon patrolled around the farm every two hours, looking for anything amiss. The animals stirred a bit as he walked by, but he made sure not to scare them. He was walking by the two horses that were in their stalls when one of them woke up and snorted, shifting uneasily.

The nighttime animatronic went up to the stall. "What is it, boy?" He asked softly, doing a scan around, but he didn't see anything.

Inside the house, Kayla woke up suddenly and sat up, sensing something was wrong. "Shamrock," she said, getting up and looking out the window.

Sure enough, she saw Shamrock, the gelding that had been in the family since she could remember. And beside him was Moon. The animatronic was following the gelding and she could tell that something was wrong.

"Kayla?" Chica asked as the girl turned to her. "Is something wrong?"

"I think so," the teen said. "Shamrock is leading Moon somewhere and he only does that if there's danger."

She got on her boots and quickly headed outside, passing by Sonar and DJ, who looked at her. "Scan the perimeter and beyond," she said. "Shamrock's on alert. Something or someone is either here or has been here."

"An intruder?" Sonar asked.

"Possibly."

The two went to scan the perimeter while Kayla caught up to Moon and Shamrock. The nighttime animatronic turned to her and she saw him about to scold her for not being in bed. "Something's wrong," she said. "Shamrock wouldn't be leading you out here otherwise."

"Shamrock?" Moon asked curiously.

She gestured to the horse. "That's his name," she said. "He won a lot of races back in his day. He won his first race on St. Patrick's Day, hence his name, Shamrock."

The gelding then stopped and looked around before leaning his nose down to the ground. "Has someone been here, Shamrock?" Kayla asked.

The horse suddenly grunted and began pawing at the ground in front of him. Kayla pulled out a flashlight she had grabbed and shined it on the ground. "Moon, do you see anything?" She asked.

He scanned the area before freezing. "A footprint," he said. "And it looks similar to one from a rabbit."

Kayla froze too and looked at the print, noticing it was fresh in the mud. She then looked up and saw a flash of metal in the moonlight nearby and Shamrock snorted again before a laugh rang through the night.

Moon quickly jumped up on Shamrock's back and grabbed Kayla before the gelding began to run back to the house. The animatronic set Kayla behind him and she hugged him tightly, holding on as he grabbed onto the reigns that he had had the forethought to put on Shamrock before leading him outside and he was thankful for that.

"Shamrock, barn," Kayla said, her voice level despite being terrified.

The faithful horse headed for the barn as DJ sounded the alarm and Sonar took off after Vanny, who had been hiding nearby and she snarled as the animatronic chased after her. The others came outside, Yor and Loid with their weapons drawn and the animatronics keeping the kids safe.

Vanny saw the kids and snarled. "Gregory!" She spat out and raced towards him, the knife held up to strike.

A sword intercepted her and she looked to see Yor standing between her and Gregory. "You harm that child and I can't guarantee I'll be civil," the assassin said warningly.

"That goes double for me," Loid said, his gun pointed at the rabbit.

Vanny snarled again, but then grunted as a rope encirled her waist and chains followed next, knocking her to the ground and she snarled and struggled, but the bonds held as everyone looked to see Moon and Kayla riding Shamrock and the nighttime animatronic was holding the end of a chain while Kayla was holding the end of a rope.

The rabbit struggled again before suddenly falling partially into a puddle of water nearby and Shamrock reared up, forcing Moon and Kayla to let go of the chain and rope and hold on as a bright flash lit up the area and crackling was soon heard before the night was quiet again.

Shamrock settled down, but Kayla clung tightly to Moon, shaking a bit. The animatronic looked back at her. "Kayla? Are you alright?" He asked.

She nodded. "Yes," she said, but her voice was shaky. "If Shamrock hadn't reared up, we all would have gotten a nasty shock."

"He's a good horse," James said, patting Shamrock's nose gently. "You're getting all the carrots and apples you want, buddy."

"I'd say he's earned them," Vanessa said.

Freddy scanned Vanny. "She's animatronic, just like us," he said.

Monty dragged the rabbit out of the water and Kayla put on some rubber gloves and examined Vanny's system, shaking her head after a moment. "It's a wonder her system didn't fry earlier," she said. "Shoddy welding and exposed wires and circuits."

"In short, she's gone," Monty said.

"Yup," the teen said. "Her system is completely shot."

"Is there a way to get the information she had, despite her system being down?" Yor asked.

Kayla shook her head. "Not unless the information got wireless sent somewhere else," she said. "Any information she had is essentially gone."

Anya then noticed Gregory's watch glowing. "Gregory, your watch," she said.

"Huh?" He asked, looking down at it and his eyes widened as he saw what he vaguely recognized as files. "Kayla, I think the info Vanny had is in my watch."

"That it is," Misterioso said with a smile. "Glad to know my personal internet works."

"Personal internet?" Sun asked.

James chuckled. "I was hoping that would work," he said.

Kayla looked at her uncle in confusion. "Uncle James?" She asked.

He nodded. "My uncle created Misterioso and left me the plans and schematics for him when he passed on. I uploaded them all to Misterioso's database and was surprised to find he was still online. It was only a matter of moments to give him all the information he needed, and just in time when I got word of Fazbear's dirty dealings and that my oldest niece was being held hostage, along with the young boy she was watching over."

"James asked me to get you both out, but when I saw Kayla was already working on the plan to get the animatronics out, along with Gregory and Anya and Anya's parents, I got the information on Fazbear Corp and went to save Vanessa," Misterioso said.

"So that's how you knew about us," Kayla said.

He nodded and smiled before looking at James, who nodded. "I think tomorrow morning, we ought to send Fazbear Corp a message," he said.

"A message?" Vanessa asked.

"That's right," her uncle said. "It's time to stop that sale from going through, convince Fazbear Corp to give the animatronics to us, and to get those families with children who have passed on the closure they've been denied for so long."

Vanny is gone and now it's time to take Fazbear Corp down. Can they do it? And will the owners of Fazbear Corp agree to James' terms? We shall see. :)
