Everything goes wrong
4 hours later the team was at the meeting place for the drug deal. Kono stood as inconspicuously as possible on the side of the road and waited. Chin and Lou were seated a little further away in their surveillance van, but close enough to see what was happening.
It took about 10 minutes for a black car to drive down the street and stop in front of Kono. Chin and Lou watched closely, waiting for the car driver to hand the drugs over to Kono. However, that didn't happen. But Kono put his hands up and got into the car. Then they drove off quickly. Chin and Lou followed immediately, simply too slow in their van, which wasn't designed for car chases either. After two minutes they had already lost the car. Chin cursed himself for not wiring Kono because now they had no idea where Kono was or why she had been taken in the first place. But Chin and Lou were sure they needed help. Steve and Danny fell out, of course, but at least they could get Catherine to help, because they would need as much of that as possible.
That's how Chin called her. "Hey Chin, what's up?"
"Am I on speakers?"
"No, everything's fine here."
Catherine understood immediately what Chin wanted from her and tried to keep her voice calm as well, so that Steve wouldn't become suspicious.
"Okay, listen. Something went wrong and we need your help. But just pretend everything is normal. We don't want Steve to see any of this. He should rest."
"Yes, Steve is fine so far and Danny should be waking up soon."
"Well, you should come to HQ as soon as possible, I'll explain everything to you there."
"Of course, see you soon."
Then Catherine turned to Steve.
"It looks like I have to go. I'm sorry."
"No problem, just go."
Catherine gave Steve a quick kiss and then made her way to headquarters as quickly as possible because from the way Chin sounded it seemed serious. When Catherine met Chin and Lou at HQ, she didn't like the look on their faces at all. She finally wanted to know what was going on, which is why she now turned to Chin.
"So, what's up ?"
"Kono was kidnapped."
"What ?! How did this happen ?"
"Long story. Anyway, we wanted to get a dealer and then suddenly he kidnapped Kono. We don't know why, but we have to find them as soon as possible."
When Kono woke up, she had a headache and could hardly move. She quickly realized why: she was lying in a trunk. She remembered being held at gunpoint and forced to get into the car. Then they had driven a little and then stopped. After that everything was black. Kono tried to get her cell phone, which luckily was still in her pocket. When she finally got there, she called Chin directly. It took a few seconds before he answered the call.
"Kono?"
"Yes it's me. Those idiots didn't take my phone from me. Unfortunately, I can't say where we are, I'm lying in this damn trunk."
"No problem. It's already our turn to locate your phone. Do you know why these people kidnapped you? Did you notice anything ?"
"No, I was surprised myself when it happened. And they hardly spoke at all."
"Okay, just hold on, we should have your location in a moment."
At that moment Kono felt the car slow down and finally stop. "Chin, we're stopping. I believeā¦"
The trunk was opened and when the two men saw Kono with her cell phone, one of the two took the cell phone, threw it on the ground and stepped on it.
At HQ:
"Kono?! Hey, Kono, are you there?!" No response. But the location had worked. The three immediately set off.
Kono:
After one man destroyed her cell phone, he pulled her out of the car. She couldn't defend herself because the second man was standing about two meters in front of her and was pointing a gun at her. But Kono wasn't intimidated by that.
"What do you want from me ?"
She didn't get an answer, but the man who had destroyed her mobile phone grabbed her arm and pulled her a bit through the hall where they were. Then they went through a door into a small room with a wooden chair in the middle. Kono was forced to sit on it and her wrists and ankles were tied to the chair.
"Will you finally tell me what's going on here?"
"You don't recognize me, do you?"
"Should I ?"
"It would be an advantage. I am what you have been looking for."
"Liam Hayden."
"Correct. Smart girl. Well, I know for a fact you're from Five-0. And I would now like to know how much you know about me and my, shall we say, business."
Kono didn't say anything and just looked at Liam fearlessly. In truth, of course, Kono was afraid that she wouldn't survive this, but she didn't show it in any way.
"Okay, listen to me. We give you ten minutes to think of a good answer. If you still don't have one, the friendly conversation ends."
So both men left the room and Kono tried to come up with an escape plan. Catherine, Chin and Lou arrived after about a ten minute drive. They were now standing in front of a warehouse about the size of a football field. They quickly ran in and found only one car. As they walked on, they stood in front of a door. From there they heard the voices of probably two men. Chin positioned himself to open the door and Catherine stood ready with Lou to go in and secure the room. Chin gave the two a short sign and opened the door. Catherine and Lou immediately ran inside.
"Five 0! Hands up!"
One of the men followed the instructions. The other grabbed his hand behind his back, probably wanted to quickly draw his gun. But Lou made him reconsider the whole thing.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you! Believe me, before you even pointed your gun at us, I pulled the trigger long ago. So if you want to survive, put your hands up now."
So the man did as he was told. While Lou and Catherine handcuffed the two men, Chin looked around and spotted another room in the warehouse. He quickly ran towards it and carefully opened the door. What he saw relieved him greatly. Kono sat on a chair and looked happily at Chin.
"It took you long enough."
"First of all, how about a thank you for saving me?"
"Thanks."
"Better."
Chin approached Kono and removed the bindings. At the same time he became serious again.
"Are you all right ?"
"Yes, nothing happens. You were here in time. And please tell me you have the two men."
"Just arrested."
"Well, I'd like to tell them something."
With that, Kono was already out of the room and ran to Catherine and Lou, who were just about to put the two men into the cars. When they saw Kono, they stopped their action and Catherine went to hug Kono but didn't get around to it as she went straight for Liam Hayden and right hooked him.
"Next time, think more clearly before you kidnap someone."
Lou put the two in the car and Catherine hugged Kono.
"I'm glad you're okay."
"Me too and my mood will be even better when these two idiots are behind bars."
It was already 8pm, so the team decided to drop the two men off at HPD and interrogate them tomorrow. So everyone went home after completing this task.
Only Catherine wanted to stop by the hospital first. This time she went to Danny's room first since she hadn't spoken to him after the rescue. However, she couldn't speak to him because he was asleep. So Catherine quietly left Danny's room and went to Steve.
When Catherine entered Steve's room, she stopped in shock. The bed was empty. Panic set in, but Catherine forced herself to remain calm and went back down the hall to find doctor Kahale. She was lucky because he was just coming out of another room into the hallway. Catherine immediately ran towards him.
"Doctor Kahale !"
"Catherine, nice to see you. But you look very upset. So what's going on ?"
Catherine already had a bad feeling, because if Steve might have dismissed himself, Doctor Kahale would already know.
"Do you know where Steve is?"
"Actually, he should be in his room. I just checked on him an hour ago. And nobody else seems to have noticed anything either, like he just left. Because then I would have already been informed."
"I was hoping you would know something. Because his bed is empty and if you don't know anything either then...he was exposed here, maybe someone kidnapped him or worse..."
Doctor Kahale noticed immediately how stressed Catherine was suddenly and was afraid that she would start hyperventilating as her breathing became faster and faster.
"Catherine, calm down. Breathe in and out slowly. We're going back to his room now, maybe there's a clue that will tell us where he is."
Catherine tried the advice of doctor Kahale, but she couldn't really calm down. When the two entered Steve's room, doctor Kahale continued to calm Catherine down.
"Try calling Steve and don't just assume something bad has happened."
"OK."
Catherine pulled out her cell phone and called Steve. And that made things even worse. Because they heard the ringing, it came from Steve's bed. Catherine walked over to his bed and picked up Steve's cell phone.
"That is not good at all. Steve never goes anywhere without a cell phone. It is important to him that you can reach him whenever possible."
"Okay, take a look around here and see if you can find anything else that will help clear things up. I'll check the security cameras in this hallway."
Doctor Kahale left the room and Catherine looked around. Then her eyes fell on a sheet of paper lying on the chair next to Steve's bed. Her name was on it. Catherine picked it up, turned it over, and began to read...
