Chapter 15- Stoic being nosey

Its been few a weeks since this happened and Astrid barely left Hiccup side since, not because it was His choice but she didn't want to she was always was found near him or Sindri at all times and during these past few weeks the trio fell into a comfortable routine in the morning they would lounge around the clearing they called home, after deciding Astrid wanted to live near them Hiccup made some additions to his hut with two extra small rooms which held one for Hiccup and Astrid and one for Sindri and surprisingly enough Toothless witch was a funny sight walking into seeing Sindri fast asleep on his bed and Toothless curled up at the foot of it snoring away after that they would walk to the village and spend most of their time there as Sindri now being Gobber's Apprentice would be learning away at the forge and Astrid got a job as teaching the kids in dragon training since when Astrid was engaged to Snot she had to decline the job at first. Then there was Hiccup and Toothless

They would mainly spend time off Island they had a life before Astrid And Sindri and neither of them would bother to ask much about what they did but Astrid started to worry after a while noticing that when he did return he was always exhausted and sometimes had bruises or wounds that he would 'Attempt' to hide from her but she always found soon and brushed off questions about them which left the blonde frustrated but let him as she didn't want to anger him

As during the nights thing started to push her concerns further as during raids she would always help the village while Sindri helped Gobber, she tried to stay as far away as possible from Snotlout, she didn't want something else to happen, people now knew she and Snotlout didn't get engaged but instead of being mad they just tried to convince her it would be a good idea the villagers would come up to her and say such like

He would make such a wonderful husband

Or

That man is a perfect Viking you should be lucky to be sought after by him

She never really minded it always brushing it off with a grunt or not even acknowledge their presence as she fought the scaley beasts, but the worst person was Stoick he wouldn't leave her Alone at all even if she was standing near Sindri or even Hiccup and she hated it especially when Hiccup was near she always held his hand when she did she could feel him shaking with rage but with his mask there was no telling but during raids he usually stayed away and did his duties. The only issue besides that was she always wondered where Hiccup disappeared to she never saw him and it confused her she never thought to ask him because she was to focused on the dragons but tonight that was going to change

Astrids POV

Tonight was bad, they were raided and it was terrible, this raid left them with almost no food left for the winter and many injured Poor Multch got hit on the head by a Groncle's tail and Mr. Ingerman was hit by a Nadder spike many houses were burned to the ground as well and she was tired she could feel her limbs aching to relax and her arms almost felt numb from swinging around her axe wich she could tell needed a good Sharpening as the medals edge seemed to be dulled but that could wait right now she needed to Pick up Sindri and go Home to find her nowhere to be found boyfriend...

She still liked saying it, after that incident they agreed they were not Engaged and she was fine with that but they did agree on Dating which was frowned Apon by Viking as the seen it as not committed enough to be together but she didn't care she got to be with Hiccup that's all she wants and Sindri didn't seem to mind either and still seen them as their parental figures and she adored that boy and so did Hiccup. As she approached the Forge she started to hear some shouting and a conversation she didn't think was for her ears

Aye Stoick leave the lad alone he has nothin te do with this and you know it-it was definitely Gobber as she can tell by his thick accent

Gobber you know I don't care but he seems close with that man and I want to know who he is

She could here Gobber groan out in frustration, what man? Who is he talking about?

look Stoick it don't care yer not messing with my apprentice and go away he wont know anything besides why do yer care?

Stoick? What is he doing now..and why does he need Sindri?

Because we need to get Astrid back and Snotlout wont stop moanin and groanin about it so if I can get rid of her new suitor I can fix this besides it's the best for her

So he wants to get rid of Hiccup? To re-engage me to Snotlout?!

It don't matter let the lass be happy you can tell she enjoys that man, plus if you do care don't rip her away from that beside you know how shes been since Hi-

Dont go there Gobber! He is a traitor an he is to never be spoken of-she could hear the audible slam of his fists against a table

Then there was a few moments of silence

Soon she decided that was enough and walked into the forge which shocked both of the men and had Stoick wide eyed and embarrassed as he watched her figure drift to Gobber

"Hey Gobber just came her to Pick up My Son"-she emphasized as he shook his head and directed her to a Familiar looking back room she walked in she was greeted by Sindri looking through a small notebook that had a leather front and some runes sewn into it, he looking engrossed not even sparing her a glance when she walked up to see what he was reading she only smiled, she saw a sketch of Her Siting on a log while sharpening her Axe where what looked like to be the cove she could see the small river and their favorite tree in the background she could also see the detail that Hiccup always added to his sketches that made them so beautiful, Hiccup owned many of these but this one she could tell was his last one, the one before he left, that was the day he lost to the nightmare

"Mom is that you?"

She nodded not being able to get rid of the goofy grin on her face

"Why yes it is your Dad drew that of me when we were kids"

He smiled and his eyes went wide

"so does that mean Dad worked here to?"

"Oh yea he spent all of his free time here when he wasn't watching me train"-she giggled thinking back to when he would sit near by as she trained giving her encouragement that she didn't need but loved hearing

Then she heard Stoick enter and clear his throat

"aye listen lass I would like to talk to yer eh new man sometime if there would be a chance hadn't seen him around lately"

She was going to answer but Sindri interrupted her

"he doesn't like you so I don't think he would"-Sindri was wearing the biggest grin she had ever seen and Gobber was stifling laughs with a beet red Angry Stoick almost shaking with Anger

"Now lad I don't think yer dad hates meh but"-"No he does, if you want to get him on his good side maybe be a little nicer to Mom and Me"

Gobber was laughing now and even she was giggling at how nonchalant he was about the situation at hand But Stoick didn't see the irony in it at all his usual "Stoic" green eyes were burning with rage

"Now yer shouldn't talk to yer Chief like that and she aint yer mother! she is the Future Chieftess of Berk she aint stupid enough to marry that armored idiot!"-the room went silent and Astrid was pissed, She was not the future Cheiftess unless Hiccup became chief she had no reason to be and he didn't not just call her boyfriend an Idiot!

"Don't let dad hear that one, he's kind of protective of her"-Sindri Giggled out, he seemed to not care about what was going on only having a Smirk that reminded her a great deal of Hiccups and a very mischievous glint to his Brown pools but as soon as he said that the room went quiet, the looming form of the chief stooped low to come face to face with Sindri

"Well...Your "Father" wouldn't be able to do much to me now would eh? He don't seem like much, bet all those fancy tricks he used in the ring with Snotlout wouldn't be any use against meh..."-Sindri seemed flabbergasted, sure he was use to being insulted he always brushed it off but not his family, his new family, he was getting ready to give a grade A sarcastic response, but this time Astrid decided to step in

"Alright Sindri I think that enough sweetie I think its time to go home..."

"Home?"

Rats! She was not supposed to say that Infront of him, Stoic Stood to his full height again and turned his stern and frankly frustrated face to her his green looking into her calculatingly, they almost reminded her of Hiccup's but his were duller and cold not as vibrant and caring as her boyfriend's...soon he spoke and his venom dripped from his lips

"Where is this home you speak of..? You don't live in the Hofferson hall anymore so where do you live?"-he took a step closer and she took a step back

"Its somewhere...I-I live with Vidar of course..."

"Where does he live?"

"Why do you want to know?"-she was getting frustrated he was backing her into a corner and she did not like the look plastered on his face

"I am your Chief I should know everything that goes on around this island, My Island"

"so? It doesn't matter he lives in the woods he doesn't bother you"

"No..But he is interfering with issues with in my village and that brings in my interests"

Now she was angry what problems? Hiccup hasn't done anything wrong! Besides fighting for her hand and protecting Sindri only very Noble things, nothing wrong about it all he has done was save her from Snot!...oh that's what he means...

"What's issues? He hasn't done anything wrong!"

"He has dishonored my heir! My Son!"

"Adopted Son!"-Gobber chimed in not looking too pleased with that

everyone new that once Hiccup 'Died' to make Snotlout Stoics Heir, Stoic had to adopt him and even though it was very unethical Spitelout jumped at the chance to allow his son to become heir so they basically split custody but no one calls him a Haddock everyone knows he isn't one and Spitelout always considered him the 'Pride of the Jorgenson's' so it mainly stuck to that but during Island Meetings and such everyone used 'Haddock' just to seem professional Gobber though

He never spoke of him as the chiefs son in his mind that was Hiccups Position his birth right nobody else's and Stoic never liked that Stoic shoved Hiccup out his mind when his Supposed death came Ary and that was confirmed with the death glare that was sent at him

"Gobber Shut up!"

"No Stoic! Yer need to leave this is gone to far!"-"No this is my village I want my Answers and I have the right to-!"

"What do ya want to Know Chief?"

A very familiar and slightly nasaly voice spoke up from outside soon everyone turned to the door to so none other then Hiccup or 'Vidar' as everyone calls him standing in the door way dawning his mask and Infernos hilt clutched in his left hand Sindri ran passed everyone and stood near Hiccup

"Ah the man of the Hour! Where have ya been? Not around the village much are ye?"

"No no not much, to be frank I have other matters I attend to"

"Such as?"

"Business"

Why does he keep saying that?!, she had heard him say this many times and it was starting to frustrate her she wanted answers now as well as Stoic

"What kind of..Business?"

He glanced over to her and she gave a pointed glare that easily said, Yea what kind?, He stood straighter and cleared his throat

"Nothing that concerns you But I want to know why your bothering my family?"

Stoic stood taller trying to look more intimidating he wanted his answers and that meant he would get them nothing was stopping that even Hiccups expert tip toeing he will soon pry it from him and if he doesn't she will when they get home

"well bothering is a strong word I was just curious of why Miss Astrid here was doing with this...Runt"-Astrid shot a death glare to Stoic and Hiccup was glaring behind his mask, he put his arm around the back of the boy and noticed his slight shake in his body, which only infuriated him more

"Well Chief if you must know I was just picking him up for Vidar since I am in a relationship with him he is sort of a Son to me as well"-she replied very diplomatically while also bearing venom in her words, she threw a wink to Sindri and Hiccup which made Hiccup Shiver and SIndri giggle

"Hm I see but you are in no relationship with Him your with my Son and Heir"

Your real Son and Heir Yes

Snotlout? No

"I believe the moment where Snotlout Forcibly Kissed me and basically dragged me to the hall was not a declaration of love I can assure you that"

Stoic tried to retort speaking on How "It was meant to be" or "Think of the tribe" But it fell on deaf ears and soon a small yawn broke through the air from Sindri who was leaning on his dads legs to stay up right clearly exhausted, Gobber spoke

"Listen if you've got so many Issues go deal with them somewhere else I'm tired I'm sure the lad is as well how about yall go home for the nigh"

They all agreed though Stoic grumbled about it and they headed off, they made their way through the woods, Hiccup ended up carrying Sindri halfway, the poor kid could barely

walk, and arrived at their home Toothless napping on the doorstep peeking up to see his Rider and little buddy and followed them in as Hiccup laid Sindri in his bed and toothless laying at the foot of it to watch over him

Astrid walked into her and Hiccups room and began to shed her armor, This room was a lot bigger then the one she had with snot it had a larger closet space which she loved, granted she wasn't one for many clothes or dresses, but she liked having somewhere to store her stuff, not just a tiny cabinet in the corner the room had a very large custom bed that Hiccup made for them though she normal sleeps cuddled up to him with no space in between, Tonight though she wants some answers from her dear old boyfriend and Astrid Hofferson gets what she wants
