grow." Thorin struggles to breathe, and says.

"If more people valued home above gold this world would be a merrier place." Thorin

Thorin shows his affection to Faron, and says.

"I will always...watch over you...I love you. Little dove." Thorin

"I love you papa." Faron

Faron watches as her father dies, and cries out her anguish at the loss of her father. When the Dwarves arrive Faron seeks comfort from Dwalin until she remembers Kili, and goes looking for him. When Faron reaches the last place that Kili was seen she sees Legolas, and says.

"Legolas, my brother, where is he?" Faron

"He is in there. Your father?" Legolas

"He is dead." Faron

Legolas looks down for a moment before walking over, and pulling Faron into an embrace. Faron wraps her arms around Legolas obviously glad for the comfort, and Legolas says.

"I am sorry." Legolas

"Are you leaving?" Faron

"Yes. What will you do now?" Legolas

"I do not know, but I was hoping that you could tarry in Dale for awhile, because I would like to explore what is between us." Faron

"I would be happy to spend more time with you. I will stay in Dale as long as you need me to." Legolas

"Thank you Legolas."

Faron watches Legolas leave for a moment, and then runs into the tower looking for her brother. We follow Thranduil's voice until we see Tauriel kneeling next to Kili's dead body. Faron breathes out her brother's name saying.

"Kili..." Faron

Faron does not notice the eyes on her or Tauriel calling her name as she strides over to her brother with tears pouring down her face. Faron kneels next to her brother, and says.

"No, no, no, Kili!" Faron

Tauriel comforts Faron, and then says.

"What will you do with him? Will you bury him?" Tauriel

"No. He will be taken into the mountain. Along with his uncle and brother...they will rest in their own tombs." Faron

Tauriel nods her head, and says.

"Faron, I am sorry I could not save him." Tauriel

"You have nothing to apologize for. You tried to save him, I know this...and I think that it would be for the best if you came with me when I go to bring Dis back to the mountain." Faron

"Why Faron?" Tauriel

"My nephew should be raised among Dwarrows, but it is not safe here Dain will feel threatened by his existence. So please come with me?" Faron

"What about the half of my child that is elven?" Tauriel

"There is an elven settlement near Ered Luin he could spend some time there." Faron

Tauriel takes some time to seriously consider her options, and when she has made a decision Tauriel says.

"Alright I will come with you. When do we leave?" Tauriel

"When Gandalf and Bilbo leave after Dain's coronation." Faron

"I will have all of the companies possessions ready to be returned by then so Tauriel can return them when she meets you at the gates of Erebor." Thranduil

"Thank you Thranduil." Faron

We give him the traditional elven farewell, and then he leaves Charlotte walks away from her friend giving them some time to grieve privately.

Then Charlotte and Bilbo are walking alone where no one can overhear what they are talking about. Charlotte takes out a red pouch, and shows the contents to Bilbo. Bilbo looks at the stone in Charlotte's hand, and says.

"Charlotte what is that stone, and why does it look similar to the Arkenstone?" Bilbo

"This my friend is the heart of a stone giant, and while I have no answer to your second question I have a plan to use it to protect all future Durin Kings from the Dragon Sickness." Charlotte

"That's good. What's the plan, and how can I help?" Bilbo

"We will go to Lothlorien, and ask the Lady Galadriel to fill this Jewel with the light of Earendil. The silmaril's light will protect all that look upon it from any kind of darkness that may try to take hold of them." Charlotte

"Wow that's quite a plan, but if it will help my friends I'll be more than happy to go on another adventure." Bilbo

"Good we leave now so that we can be back in time for Dain's coronation." Charlotte

Bilbo nods, and they leave for Lothlorien, but along the way Elros joins them. When they get to Lothlorien Haldir takes them to see Lady Galadriel, and when they get there Charlotte says.

"Grandmother Bilbo and I need your help." Charlotte

"What do you need Charlotte?" Galadriel

Charlotte takes the Heart Stone out of her pocket, and says.

"Could you fill this with the light of Earendil? I would like to give it to the Dwarves as a guiding light." Charlotte

"I will do this for you, but what are you going to do with the original Arkenstone?" Galadriel

"I will take it with me to Númenor." Charlotte

"I see. Pass me the Heart Stone." Galadriel

Charlotte gives the Heart Stone to her grand mother who walks away, and as soon as she is gone Bilbo gives Charlotte the Arkenstone. After receiving the Arkenstone Charlotte steps away from the Hobbit to stand next to Elros, and after much time Lady Galadriel returns with the Heart Stone that is glowing with a soothing and exceedingly beautiful light. Charlotte watches Lady Galadriel hand the new Arkenstone to Bilbo who then puts it in the same pocket where he kept the original. Charlotte takes Bilbo back to Dale as discreetly as she can so no one will suspect that anything is amiss. They arrive back at the mountain a little bit before Dain's coronation, and Bilbo puts the new Arkenstone above the Throne of the King Under the Mountain where the original one sat long ago. The two of them watch as Faron struggles to hold back her tears while Dain is crowned King Under the Mountain. Awhile later Charlotte is walking by Faron's apartment when she sees Dain walk in, and say to Faron.

"I thought I might find ye here." Dain

"Dain...you startled me." Faron

"Sorry Lass, I didn't mean to startle ye." Dain

"It's alright. Is there something I can do for you?" Faron

"Actually, I'm here to see if there's something I can do for you?" Dain

"Listen lass, I know this isn't the way you imagined being home, with your father and the lads dead and with me being King. I wanna know if there's anything I can do to make it easier for ye here." Dain

"That is very kind of you, Dain, and I do thank you, but...I can't stay. Not yet the time will come for me to live here with my kin, but until then can you have the Company keep my home aired out, clean, and ready for when that day comes?" Faron

"Aye lass that shouldn't be a problem. I'll have a spare key made right away. I will also have your share of the treasure put aside for your return to the mountain." Dain

"Thank you Dain. By law Kili's share of the treasure belongs to his widow. Can you have one fifteenth of the treasure packed so it can be given to Tauriel." Faron

"Kili was married before he died? The only way I can think of for that to have happened is with the War Time Exemption. Who did the paperwork for the marriage?" Dain

"Balin did the paperwork." Faron

Dain goes to the door, and instructs a page to bring Balin to Faron's apartment. When Balin arrives at the apartment, and as soon as he is inside Dain says.

"Faron tells me that you did the paperwork for the War Time Marriage Kili son of Dis. Is this true?" Dain

"Yes it is King Dain. I did draw up the paperwork for that marriage." Balin

"Then you can oversee the matters pertaining to his widows inheritance." Dain

"Yes my King. I'll see to it immediately." Balin

Balin leaves to do as he was bidden, and when Balin is gone, but before Dain can turn to leave Faron says.

"There is one more thing I want to ask you." Faron

Charlotte sees Dain nod, and Faron continues saying.

"I know how you feel about Thranduil and the elves, but I was wondering if it's about time for us to end the rift between both races and become allies once more?" Faron

"Faron, you know better than most what they did. You were there when he refused to help, when he turned his back." Dain

"I know that, and I could never forgive him for that, but I also know that Lord Elrond did help us when we came to him after Thranduil's betrayal. I also know that he could have done the same thing now when we were fighting Azog and Bolg, but he did not he stayed to fight by our side. I just want peace between us once more." Faron

Charlotte can see Dain think about what Faron said, and when he has reached a decision Dain says.

"Tell Thranduil that we will have peace." Dain

"Thank you, Dain. I appreciate it." Faron

"Don't thank me. It's one way to help make things easier for you when you return. What will you do now?" Dain

"There is healing to be had in Rivendell, but first I'll make sure Bilbo gets home safely and then go back to the Blue Mountains. I'll escort everyone who wants to come here." Faron

"Well I hope you find the healing you need so you can come back home where you belong, and if you need anything in the mean time just send a Raven, and I'll come even to Rivendell to help you." Dain

"Thank you Dain." Faron

Charlotte sees Dain smile at Faron, and leaves before they see her. Once Charlotte is out of Erebor Charlotte leaves headed for Lothlorien.

As soon as she gets back to Lothlorien Charlotte and Elros go to the bank of the Andúin to spend a year in Númenor, and when it is over Charlotte will return to her previous routine.

Charlotte and Elros are standing on the bank of the Andúin about to go on their trip to Númenor, and Charlotte puts the air bubble around Elros' head then they both jump into the river holding hands. A year later they return to Land Elros returns to Mirkwood, and Charlotte returns to Erebor to see how things are going with her friends, but on the way there Charlotte spends some time with her family in Lothlorien. After her visit with her family Charlotte arrives in Erebor, and her friends are very happy to see her again. Charlotte sees the Arkenstone in it's place above the throne of the King, and is happy with the positive effect that the light of Earendil is having on the Dwarves of Erebor. Charlotte visits with her friends, and then returns home to spend time with her family. When she gets there Haldir welcomes her home with a hug, and says.

"Charlotte I am so glad you are back home where you belong. Come tell me all about your adventures beyond our borders." Haldir

"Yes father." Charlotte

Charlotte tells her father about every thing she has done and the people she has met on her adventures. After their talk Charlotte thinks about how happy her father was when he married Krystal Frost daughter of Arwen Undomiel. Charlotte loves the mother she has now as much as she loved the mother she had on Earth, and Charlotte hopes that nothing will happen to ruin their happiness.

Charlotte arrives in Imladris on her way to visit Bilbo, and sees Faron and an ellon arriving. Charlotte walks up to them, and says.

"Faron my friend how have you been?" Charlotte

"I have been better, but enough of that. I would like you to meet my soul-mate Legolas Thranduilion." Faron

"You are destined for the Son of Thranduil! This is going to be difficult. What are you planning to do about this?" Charlotte

"I plan to court and marry Faron." Legolas

"Are you agreeable to this plan Faron?" Charlotte

"I am." Faron

"Then you must contact Dain, and negotiations must be had between your senior most male relative and an elven ruler willing to sanction the marriage." Charlotte

"My Father would never agree to this. He has his own ideas about whom I should marry ideas that do not in anyway match mine." Legolas

"It doesn't necessarily have to be Thranduil. We are after all in Imladris." Charlotte

Faron and Legolas look at each other with smiles on their faces, and Faron says.

"I'll send a raven to Dain carrying a letter explaining what I need his help with." Faron

"While you are doing that I will speak with Lord Elrond." Legolas

"Faron in your letter tell Dain that Charlotte Dwarrow-Friend will be acting as intermediary for the negotiations." Charlotte

Faron nods, and the two of them go to make the necessary arrangements.

Two weeks later Dain arrives in Imladris, and is taken to Lord Elrond's study where the negotiations are to be taking place. When Dain enters the study he sees his cousin, a male elf, Lord Elrond, and Charlotte Dwarrow-Friend. Dain sits down in the only empty chair, and says.

"So you are the elf who wishes to marry my cousin?" Dain

"I am Legolas of the Woodland Realm, and I love Faron very much King Dain." Legolas

"That is good to know Legolas, however my cousin is a Lady of Durin, and so Dwarrow Courtship Traditions must be followed." Dain

"Legolas is an elf so elven courtship traditions must also be followed." Elrond

"Very well, but I must insist that Legolas follow every single courtship tradition no matter how ancient." Dain

"I will do what ever I must for the joy of marrying Lady Faron." Legolas

Dain smiles at the respect this elf is showing to his family, and says.

"That's an agreement. Now let's talk about the Dowry and the Bride Price. As Lady Faron's senior most male relative I will pay one quarter of my personal wealth in the Iron Hills for my cousins happiness" Dain

"Agreed." Legolas

Faron's eyes go wide at the large Dowry being offered, and is deeply touched by the value Dain places on her happiness, and as she is thinking this Legolas takes a bundle out of an inner pocket saying while unwrapping it in front of everyone present.

"I present this as the Bride Price. A mithril necklace containing a stone made of the same material as the Palantri. This is how much I value having Faron in my life." Legolas

"Agreed. I have brought the Dowry with me. Where should it be put Lord Elrond?" Dain

"There is an empty storage room across the hall from the guest room Legolas is staying in. The Dowry can be stored in there. My aide will show your guards where it is." Elrond

"Thank you Lord Elrond. I see Faron was right about how good natured you are." Dain

Lord Elrond nods his acceptance of the complement, and goes to instruct Lindir who guides the Dwarves to the specified room. Lord Elrond sits back down at his desk, and Legolas gives Dain the
