AN: Here it is, chapter 40; I couldn't wait to publish it, because you guys have been amazing and I'm so grateful for everything single review that has been left for this story. Don't worry this isn't the end, I have a few more chapters I want to write for this story; this chapter will contain a recreation of the scene from S4 Ep13, using the same dialogue to keep it accurate. Read and review please, as it would be greatly appreciated; MysteryFan1997

Ch40
That's when my thoughts drifted, to how it was going to play out...
It would happen the same way it did before, I'd call him; stand at the filing cabinet, wait for him to show up and then we'd get straight into it. The only difference this time, is my parents wouldn't interrupt us.
Just as it happened that day, I really wanted a grilled cheese; I glanced at the paperwork on my desk, I sighed as I weighed up my options. Should I finish my paperwork or go to Granny's and get a grilled cheese?
My stomach grumbled, I guess my decision had been made; paperwork be damned, I'm going to get a grilled cheese with onion rings. I moved to get up, reaching for my jacket; when I heard someone approaching; I looked up, and noticed it was Killian.
He smiled at me, before speaking.
"I'm sorry my love, I just couldn't wait to see you; and since we are recreating another moment, I was thinking it wouldn't hurt to start it from the moment I brought you lunch"
I smiled, before answering.
"It's ok, I guess we've been accurate with the two other recreations; and it's worked, so I don't see why we can't do it with this one. Are you ready?"
He nodded, and I glanced up at him; that's when I noticed that he was holding a take out bag from Granny's, just like he had done that day. I smiled, as he set the bag down on my desk; he placed his hand on my back, before he spoke while using same words as before.
"Grilled cheese, just the way you like it"
I grinned up at him again, before speaking
"Fries?"
He laughed softly, before answering.
"Onion rings"
I smiled, before speaking again.
"Oh good, I was just testing you"
He huffed out a laugh, as he pointed to the screen; he spoke.
"What's this?"
I glanced up at him, before looking at the computer; I quickly switched it on, before answering.
"ATM security footage, I'm trying to figure out if Ursula and Cruella stole something; from Gold's shop"
His hand was still on my back, when I spoke again; asking the same question, I did that day.
"Oh by the way, I never got a chance to ask you; how exactly you know Ursula?"
And just like that day, he looked down at me; giving me the same look he did then, before speaking.
"I already told you love, she's just one of the many sea monsters; that crossed my path, in my pirating days"
I peered up at him, before I spoke again.
"What exactly does that mean?"
His hand stopped tracing patterns onto my back, as he stepped back; before speaking.
"Honestly, I don't recall"
I sat back in my chair, before using a slight teasing tone; before I spoke again.
"Uh uh..."
He smiled slightly, before he spoke again.
"Swan, that's all there is to know"
We looked at each other again, I took a breath; before speaking again.
"You're holding something back"
He then uttered the words, that once made my heart stop; and made my superpower go into overdrive.
"I don't know what else to say..."
I sat back in my seat; crossing my arms, just as I had done before. I then schooled my features, and using the same tone I did then; I spoke.
"Neither do I"
We looked at each other, with the same expressions on our faces; before I pretended that the computer dinged, signalling the footage had downloaded.
I spoke.
"Well, I should get back to it"
I then leaned forward, just as I had done before; he then spoke.
"Enjoy your witch hunt"
I glanced up at him, before speaking; breaking character.
"Ok, so; now we're going to have to wait a couple of hours; before we can continue this, so I'll call you later and we can pick this up again"
He nodded, before smiling at me; he then leaned down, kissing the top of my head. He spoke.
"I'll see you later my love"
He turned around to leave, I glanced up at the clock; it was late afternoon, that gave me just under 2 hours before I had to call him to come back here.
So I got up, and moved in the direction of the couch; I rearranged the pillows, as I wanted it to look the same as it did before. Once I was satisfied, I then switched off my computer; I tried to remember, how I felt that day.
I knew straight away that he was hiding something from me, and I remember feeling sick to my stomach; as I spent that afternoon assuming that they had a romantic history, and that things didn't end well between them.
I walked over to the filing cabinet, pulling out a random file; I then placed it on top of the cabinet, before glancing at the clock; I guess it was time, to finish this recreation.
I lifted my phone, taking a breath; before calling him, he answered within seconds. I smiled internally, before speaking.
"Can you come to the station?"
He answered.
"I'll be there shortly"
The call ended, I then moved towards the filing cabinet; lifting the file, I set on top of it earlier. I flicked through it, while I waited for him to arrive.
I didn't have to wait long, as I heard footsteps behind me; I held my breath, as I waited for him to speak.
"Well Swan, why did you summon me?"
I placed the file back in the cabinet, before turning to speak.
"Because, I know there's something about your history with Ursula; that you're not telling me, and that's ok. But what's not ok, is you lying about it"
He looked at me, with the same expression; he had used that day, before speaking.
"Aye love, you're right; I haven't been entirely forthright with you, truth is I remember my history with Ursula and it was ugly"
My eyes widened slightly, just like before; I then spoke.
"Did you break her heart?"
He looked at me, before he spoke again.
"Worse..."
I stared at him, before speaking; barely above a whisper.
"Look, whatever you did; you're not that person anymore, it's not gonna change anything between us"
He looked at me, before he spoke again.
"That's quite a lot of faith you're putting on me Swan"
I smiled, before moving slightly towards him; before reaching for his hand, and guiding him to the couch. Speaking as I did so.
"I know, and there's a reason for it"
He spoke.
"What's that?"
I smiled softly, before answering him.
"My parents, I had this moment today; where I doubted them, they said that they were going for a hike and I thought that they were lying to me"
He spoke again.
"Where they?"
I shook my head, before speaking.
"No, my parents would never lie to me; but the fact that I thought that they would, reminded me that I have this tendency to expect the worst of people. My childhood, people were always letting me down; and I..."
That's when he interrupted me, just like he did that day; my heart stopping briefly, as I felt the warmth of his words.
"Hey, I don't intent to let you down"
I smiled again, before continuing speaking.
"I know, and I know that whatever problem you had with that sea witch you can tell me on your own time; and no matter what, I want to do what my parents always do. I'm gonna choose to see the best in you"
He looked at me, before whispering.
"And I with you"
I huffed out a small laugh, before he leaned in to kiss me; our lips met, I sighed softly as I melted against him. We kissed for a few minutes, before I pulled back slightly; to look at him.
I then spoke.
"Well how was that? Everything you wanted it to be?"
He nodded, before speaking.
"Yes, it was far better than what actually happened that day; and I'm sorry Emma, I should have been honest with you about my history with Ursula"
I smiled, knowing that it was all in the past.
"I'm glad, and it's ok Killian; I get it, I shouldn't have cornered you like that. I mean deep down, I knew that you were holding something back that day; and instead of waiting for you to tell me, I jumped straight to using my superpower"
He looked at me, before leaning down; to kiss me, I smiled into the kiss. He then pulled back, before speaking.
"It's alright love, as it's in the past; and that's where it's going to stay. So, shall we head home? I think it's the perfect night for a warm fire and some rum"
I quirked an eyebrow at him, before standing up; I took his hand, and led him out of the station. We then made our way home, and once there; he got to work on the fire, and I gathered some blankets and pillows...
