A/N: So I am not the biggest solangelo shipper, but a couple people asked for this, so here is a Solangelo bonus chapter. :) Y'all are so cool for reading this. Writing fanfic is a hobby that brings me a lot of joy, I hope this brings you joy too!

Nico Di Angelo was exhausted, and that's saying something, considering he was dead.

He'd been serving as his father's lieutenant since almost the minute he'd died, and although he'd never admit it, he was starting to get the whole "immortality makes you jaded" thing. Sometimes it was like he was moving through fog, just... existing. And it wasn't that he disliked what he did. Nico liked helping spirits navigate the underworld. He liked helping people apply for rebirth and Elysium.

But after so long, life in the Underworld kind of weighs on a person, even if said person is dead.

He knew the solution, of course, everyone did. Will, in fact, had suggested it when Nico had been complaining about it to him as they sat under the shade of one of Persephone's trees.

"Well," he'd said, looking down at Nico, who was lying on the ground next to him, "you can always try for rebirth," to which Nico had scoffed humorlessly. Despite all the "success stories" he had heard about the new life process, Nico had never really entertained the idea of going for another shot at it. The one time he'd ever even voiced the option, his father had given him a look so severe that Nico had left the throne room as quickly as possible.

"Yeah, I could," he said, "But my first life was kind of a disaster, as you very well know." Will rolled his eyes.

"Only for the first thirteen years. Then you met me and your life became perfect." A sound of indignation escaped Nico's throat, and he turned onto his side.

"Well, you're certainly giving yourself a lot of credit there," he said. Will shrugged.

"Yeah, but it's true." Nico shook his head and rolled onto his back then, even as a smile worked its way onto his lips. It was true, really. Will Solace, for all of his jokes, was the light that had shone through the darkness that had been his formerly miserable life.

That moment under the tree had been the first time Nico truly allowed himself to think about the possibility of rebirth. And the more he thought about it, the more people he helped cross the Lethe, and the more he talked to Hazel about it, the more the idea appealed to him.

He was careful to avoid telling Hades because, again, that look he'd given Nico the first time he'd brought it up was... frightening, to say the least. And he understands why his father didn't want him to leave. During Nico's time as his lieutenant, things in the Underworld had definitely gotten less chaotic. But the thought of a fresh start had latched itself onto him and wouldn't let go.

It was another conversation with Will that sealed the deal for him. The son of Apollo had been the one to bring the subject up, his voice soft and tentative.

"Nico," he said quietly, "I'm going to try for rebirth."

Nico looked over at Will, studying his face. He didn't need to examine him too much to know how serious he was.

"Okay," Nico said. "Why?"

"I don't know." Will's eyes flickered around the underworld. "I know you don't really like the idea of going for another life," he said, "But... ever since we talked about it in Persephone's garden..." he trails off and waits several moments before he finishes his sentence. "I just think it's what I need to do. I've just been feeling in limbo, you know? I know it sounds cheesy, but I feel like I need to regain some sense of purpose."

There was a long stretch of silence following the words, and Nico stared out at the river Lethe, flowing calmly downward toward Tartarus.

"What do you want me to say?" he asked. Will turned to him and tilted his head to the side imploringly, hesitantly.

"I was kind of hoping you would want to join me?" He said the words like a question, and Nico sighed, forcing down a laugh. Well, that did it. If Will was going to go, there was no way that Nico was going to stay in the underworld without him. "If you don't then that's fine," Will continued quickly, a look of worry crossing his face. "I was just-"

"I'll go," Nico said abruptly, and Will stopped speaking.

"Say that again?" Nico rolled his eyes and elbowed Will playfully in the side.

"I said I'm going with you, Solace," he said. "I've- I've been feeling the same way. I'm kind of losing my mind here." Will laughed and shook his head fondly.

"Okay," he said. "So we're going?" Nico nodded, a smile on his face that only Will could draw out of him. He took his hand and squeezed it lightly.

"We're going."

Later, they cross the Lethe together, hand in hand, and even as Nico's memories fell away, he knew he would see Will again. It wasn't an end.

It was a beginning.

And he was ready for it.

A/N: This is the last one for this part of the series. I'm probably going to continue this in some way or another, I'm currently working on a small lil sequel about what happens when they meet in their new lives. Let me know what you think about this story!

Have a lovely day friends! :D
