White Day

The next part of the omegaverse is coming soon! Likely this weekend. I just missed Valentine's Day so writing a very short one-day one-shot for White Day.

I hadn't posted on Valentine's Day as usual but for Subaru's birthday, I had posted a wedding epilogue for a forever-long ongoing story I wrote, Ambrosia. For those reading the story or even on its own, it's basically a smut and fluff chapter if you feel like checking it out

Bouquet

Countless bouquets of white lilies, roses, camellias, and tulips were present in a flowery array. Fresh dew drops were sprayed on recently by the old florist.

Subaru Sumeragi had been spending the last hour and 30 minutes deciding on the perfect arrangement to buy. After all, this wasn't for just anyone but Kamui Shirou.

"Maybe get him one of everything," Hokuto jests, lightly, quite bemused by her brother's antics. He could take on Japan's most harrowing spirits without breaking composure, but here he was flustered like a schoolboy in love.

"Hm…" Subaru looked at her, seeming to be professing the words. His sister giggles, watching those emerald eyes transfix in thought. A finger rests under his chin, contemplative. "No, he might find it too excessive then."

Hokuto couldn't suppress her giggles and knowing looks. "You're hopeless," she spoke such words with tremendous fondness.

He had actually considered buying every type of flower in the shop. Only Kamui thinks it is "too much" is the deter in the plan.

"That….that's why I wanted you here to help," Subaru stampers weakly defending himself.

Hokuto places her hands on her hips, looking in awe at how her brother, pursued around the store, for the time being.

He gained an array of admirers. Whispers over who these beautiful twins were and who could make the gorgeous young man so devoted, checking every single flower, and their meaning cards, several times.

Of course, Subaru noticed none of this. Whoever else he saw fell from his focus instantly, mind flooded with Kamui and only Kamui.

"I am here to help," Hokuto assures, in her nurturing, elder sister voice. She places a hand on her brother's arm. "Just breathe, relax. Kamui adores you, you could pick a flower on the way to the CLAMP school dorms and he'd be just as happy."

She encouraged, eyes brightening and a tender curl pulling on her lips.

"I want to send the right message for tomorrow…" Subaru mumbles, turning his head away abashed. He admits as though confessing to a crime,"I miss our date on Valentine's Day."

"Subaru…" Hokuto sighs slowly. She gently pats her brother on the head, ruffling his head affectionately. "There was an emergency job that night, you weren't given much of a choice."

Truly only an emergency S-ranked exorcism task could keep Subaru from attending to their date plans. But as luck would have it that was exactly what transpired. Kamui did see him late that night, for a few moments giving a box of chocolates after his work, but Subaru felt guilt, with nothing to show.

"Today I have to make up for it," Subaru says, determined. "I'm going to finally tell Kamui I… That I…." He felt his chest ache. Mouth going dry, he ignored his sister's amused smirks, gazing only at the flowers.

"It's written all over your face," Hokuto supplies, knowing and having known since she met Kamui, he was that someone special. One who would save her brother from pain, the only one capable of bringing him to love again. "He'll say yes to your proposal, and then I can finally start designing for your wedding."

Apparently, the words were spoken a bit too loud. Many admirers, looked over curiously, smitten to see one so deep in love and proposing.

"I-I…I'm not asking that!" Subaru Sputtered, shaking his head wildly. "I just want to…" he bites on his lips, "Need to tell him, I love him."

If he didn't do it now he feared he might burst at the seams. His heart overflowed with so much love and adoration.

"I understand," Hokuto soothes her twin's nerves, hugging him from the side in a comforting squeeze. "You can do this." She speaks with sincerity, eyes crystal clear.

Subaru feels touched.

"So let's pick a few favorite flowers. And then…when you do propose to Kamui we'll come back here and we can spend another day perusing the store for the perfect bouquet for the occasion."

Her voice announces, laughing joyously at her decision for them.

"Hokuto!" Subaru called her name as sternly as he could manage, flushing bright pink. It's not like that…

She stood firmly, a Cheshire cat grin over her lips, eyes holding absolute conviction

The overwhelming part was…Subaru didn't think she was wrong.

Three Words

Date. Their date!

After spending the past hour picking clothes, he thinks Kamui would find most attractive, he finally leaves to pick up his beautiful date.

The heavens seemed to shine on him this day, maybe feeling partly bad for the failed Valentine's Day he spend months planning.

No new work tasks were on the horizon today. He would spend it with his most precious boyfriend.

Presenting himself on the doorstep of the CLAMP doors, he took a few deep breaths. He smoothed out his already prim and proper clothes and brushed down his already perfectly tamed hair. Nervously, he took a deep breath, before pressing the doorbell.

"Coming!" Kamui's voice rang like something of the heavens. Subaru felt his heart stutter. He stared at the bouquet of flowers, tulips, and lilies, wondering if it would be enough.

The knob turning broke him out of his thoughts.

"Subaru," Kamui breathed his name, gazing up at him with glossy doe eyes, and Subaru felt the ground sweep under him. "I missed you."

"I missed you too…" Subaru spoke, breathlessly, holding tighter to the bouquet in his hands. "These…" Words came as a struggle, he proceeded to gently press the bouquet into Kamui's arms. "Are for you."

"They're beautiful," Kamui leans up on his tiptoes. His lips merely peck Subaru's but there's an instant spark. "Thank you…I…"

There just was one thing missing from their moment. Those three little words both had been working up to confess

"I really love them," Kamui bit at his lip, looking with a need to say more. "I'll go put these in a vase."

Subaru nods, dumbfounded standing by the doorway.

"You can come in," Kamui expresses with a coy raise of his brows and a tiny smile.

"Oh, yes…" Subaru stumbles over his words, before entering the vast dorm building. He sees one of Kamui's roommates in the back, brushing her hair, and looking at the pair with adoration.

"Aww, he did come early to pick you up," Yuzuriha chimed in, waltzing toward the couple. She held a finger to her lips before mentioning it. "Kamui has been pacing up and down the dorms for the last hour. "

Kamui burns a deep red, whipping his head to the side. Subaru smiles hopelessly lost, eyes following his beloved every step.

"Not like that…" Kamui grumbled quite weakly. He quickly changed to a question. "Do we still have vases in the back cabinets?"

Yuzuriha nodded enthusiastically and skipped her way to the cabinet bringing a tall crystal clear vase.

"Thank you," Kamui murmurs to Yuzuriha, not looking her in the eyes, and focusing entirely on arranging flowers for the vase.

Then he turns up his gaze, to Subaru, melting at those shimmery green eyes. "Thank you, they are…really lovely."

"It's no problem. I…know I messed up our Valentine's plans."

"No, no no. don't worry about that. I'm just happy I got to see you even for a few minutes that day. I wanted you to try the homemade chocolates."

"They were wonderful," Subaru praises as the two get caught up in their own world. Yuzuriha watches the cute couple with starry eyes.

"I'm glad," Kamui nervously brushes at his hair. He clears his throat. "Ah…should we get going?" He realizes his friend's giggles, and amusement...and how lost he became in an instant with Subaru.

"Let's," Subaru agrees, acknowledging the situation. They leave the dorms but not without a big hug goodbye and a cheer from Yuzuriha. "Have fun lovebirds!"

Both men flushed a deep shade of pink. Their hands were already laced together before either realized, cozied up so close.

There was that word again….it was just an expression….teasing. But neither could get over it.

A quaint little cafe had been chosen for their first destination. Very neat, clean, and with plenty of privacy. Nothing too formal, but a proper enough place that indicated it wasn't someplace you just took anyone. A few couples were seated in the back.

Subaru and Kamui happily slid into their own little booth.

"You look beautiful," Subaru professes, voicing the thought that had been stuck in his mind since the door opened.

Indeed, Kamui had dressed up, not wearing his uniform. He wore a more regal purple dress shirt that highlighted his eyes, and tight black jeans that curved around his long legs perfectly.

"You look…really gorgeous," Kamui gushed, curving his lips. His hand became a little shaky holding the menu.

Subaru grasped for it in return with his own trembling hands.

"Is there anything wrong?"

"No…I…just was lost in thought."

As their hands joined, fitting together as though made to do so, the shakiness stopped. A quiet, romantic evening came about, becoming more comfortable by the moment.

After the cafe, Subaru and Kamui went for a stroll through the park. Little white lights were decorated around, hanging in a place where hearts from Valentine's Day had been.

Silence isn't discomforting. But there was still that thing lacking…neither could quite bring out.

"Kamui…" For Subaru, it never seemed like the right moment. One perfect enough to convey his heart to his love.

"Yes?" Kamui's violet-blue orbs sparkled, they sat cozily by one another on the park bench.

"I…am really happy to be here with you," Subaru settled with it. Words sincere and honest, Kamui kissed his cheek.

"Thank you for all of this…you're really….amazing you know that…" Kamui found a sudden interest in the ground below, working up his nerves.

"You're the one whose amazing…I feel so much for you I…" Subaru's voice seemed to stop spouting words. Kamui looked up at him tenderly.

"Yes?" He asked a tinge of shyness to his smile that made Subaru weak.

"You're adorable," Subaru voiced his thoughts aloud, earning a deeper blush on those pretty pale cheeks. "And I….well…." His voice trailed off…any moment now would be good…there would never be a perfect one. He needed to say this..yet…every time he started, he couldn't voice those last syllables.

Worries and insecurities speaking lie to his mind, as though the feeling between them would be anything but mutual.

Kamui squeezed his hand in assurance. That's right. Their connection had blossomed so naturally through touch…when words couldn't form just yet.

Subaru placed his index finger and thumb under Kamui's chin. Their eyes met, and both dazzling, violet-blue fluttered closed. Subaru leaned in, expressing the feelings inside with a longing kiss.

Kamui returned it with every ounce of affection he held inside, wanting to give Subaru's all.

Truly, Kamui wanted to say those same unspoken words. He meant to…it just…became easy to fall into the moment, until words were ready on their own.

Returning home, Subaru wraps his coat around Kamui's shoulders, bundling him up.

"Won't you be cold? Kamui's eyes lower with concern. Subaru steps in front of him, stealing a kiss.

"I'll be fine, we'll stay close to each other," Subaru ensures, wrapping an arm protectively around Kamui's waist.

"I like that…" Kamui murmured snuggling up to Subaru's side and nuzzling his head.

The couple settled on a movie night in Subaru's apartment. Tokyo became more crowded the later they stayed out.

Alone time certainly could be appreciated. Subaru had hardly recognized his own place stepping in, a certain sister seemed to have fun taking the liberty of decorating the room with candles, flowers, and a rather suggestive few... essentially. Both were blushing, pushing the items to the side. They bundled up on the couch and scrolled through the TV guide to pick a fitting movie.

One that would become background noise to cuddles and kissing to follow the night. Their lips met eagerly, sliding and melding just right.

A beep had been the only deterrent.

"I'll get it…" Kamui reluctantly offered, neither moving for a good moment from their cocoon of blankets on the couch.

The cafe, stroll around Tokyo and park had been a success. Plenty of romantic opportunities. Subaru felt nervous…never finding that perfect moment.

Everything he felt for Kamui felt so real, right, and overwhelming. The light of his life after an almost endlessly dark tunnel of heartache and betrayal.

You mean so much to me…it could never be enough…

The words, the scenery, the flowers…never perfect as Kamui had become to him.

Glittering emerald orbs gazed, entranced simply watching Kamui walk back from the kitchen. He parted his lips to say something, then stopped and held the tiniest smile.

Subaru meant to thank him yet when his lips moved-

"I love you," Subaru professed the words that had been held captive in his heart's chambers for what felt like centuries. And here it was…

The bag of popcorn slipped from Kamui's fingertips.

"You…" Kamui's violet-blue orbs became more doe-like. His heart stammered and moved him forward.

"I…" Subaru breathes, nervously laughing for a second. He pressed a hand to his lips. I just said that…

Now…after a whole evening had been planned out…flowers were meticulously picked to aid him in his quest.

And simply seeing Kamui walk out of his, (what he prayed would one day be their) kitchen, with a bag of microwave popcorn, and the cutest private smiles.

The moment, scenery, atmosphere….none of it had to be overanalyzed.

In the next second, Kamui came rushing into Subaru's arms and toppled him back on the couch.

He hadn't a second to catch his breath before his lips were flooded with Kamui, not that he minded it one bit. Kissing, messing, heartedly, eager and so very full, Kamui kept their lips sealed.

"For so long…" Kamui spoke only when the need for air became a necessity. "I love you, too. I love you for…it's been so intense…I wanted to tell you but." He grasped at his chest. "It wouldn't work."

Subaru leans up, stealing a kiss and making it purposely deep and flustering. All his efforts were paid for by a gorgeous crimson glow on his love's cheeks. "I understand…I had meant to say it at a time a bit more…romantic."

Kamui laughs, pure, sweet, and wispy. "It's perfect." He kisses his lips tenderly. "As long as it's with you, it's perfect." He conveys, lying over Subaru and flooding him with adoring kisses that left them breathless.

"I did spend time picking your flowers…" Subaru breathes as a humorous afterthought.

"I wanted to show you how I felt…use the right symbolism in case…the words couldn't come out." He admits sheepishly, gesturing to the beautiful bouquet on the table.

"You can still tell them to me…" Kamui bats his eyelashes, looking every bit as beautiful and seductive as possible. "We have the whole night ahead of us."

Subaru swallowed hard at the words, heart throbbing and body in a full-blown shiver. He pulled at the back of Kamui's head, kissing him harder than before, deeper.

Softly, he whispered between kisses. "White roses are to mean…I love you…to the person of your dreams."

Kamui's breath hitched, heart, fluttering as he kissed his love senseless for that alone.

~End~
