Review After Reading.
Two days after the Titan Party, Beast Boy and Raven were still busy receiving thanks and answering questions.
"Thank you for the gift, Hot Spot." Beast Boy said, holding a small, odd looking statue in his hands. "Can't have enough of …these.
Hot Spot rolled his eyes, waved and disappeared of the giant Titan Screen. Raven sighed. "And that Was Hot Spot." She said. "That's one more off our list. How many Titans do we still have to hear from?"
Beast Boy took a listen of the table and checked it. "Fifteen." He said. "Oh, and the pizza place has sent us a coupon for a free engagement pizza."
Raven smiled. "Is it just me, or does the city go more crazy than after the news that Star and Robin were getting married?"
"Maybe a tad more." Cyborg said, who came in the room with more gifts from the City. "Maybe they're just really happy."
"Then they should make us more happy by stop sending so many gifts." Beast Boy said. "My old room is filled with these things and we still haven't opened one of them."
"Well." Raven said, taking her fiancée in a hug. "Good thing you have slept in my room for the past year."
"With reason." He whispered in her ear, giving her bottom a gentle squeeze, which made her giggle.
"Oookay, REALLY didn't have to see that ..." Cyborg said, playing disgusted. "You bunch of lovable lovebirds, I STILL CAN'T BELIEVE THAT YOU'RE GETTING MARRIED." Tears started to flow out of his eyes like they were sprinklers.
"Cyborg's really emotional today." Starfire said as she hovered into the common room.
"Maybe his emotion-chip is stuck on a really high setting." Robin joked, coming in the room with letters. "You really give yourself a check-up, Vic."
Cyborg smiled, still with tears in his eyes. "Maybe I should."
"I hope I'm not interrupting an emotional moment, gentlemen and m'ladies?" A voice said.
"Hi, Red X." Starfire said as she hovered past the hero, standing against an opened window.
"Hi, Beautiful." Red X said. He threw a small package to Beast Boy, who caught it. "Something from the team and I."
"Thanks, Nathan." Raven said. Raven was the only one who used Red X' real name sometimes. Even thou he didn't really liked it when called by his real name. Why, he never said.
"No problem, Rae." Red X said, walking over to the computer.
"Came all the way to deliver, X?" Robin asked.
"Nope." Red X said, plugging something in the computer. An image of one of the docks in Jump City, known for smuggling, appeared on screen. "I need your help."
"Anytime." Beast Boy said, placing the small package on the table. "What is the trouble this time?"
"The Street Titans and I have been gathering information about a large smuggling operation the last two weeks." Red X began. "Intel that we have recovered last night indicated that they will deliver some serious stuff into the city tonight."
"What kind of stuff?" Cyborg asked.
"Weapons, drugs, ... "Red X began. "PAD's."
Beast Boy growled. Even thou they had defeated Shifter a year ago and that the doctor had served his time and was starting up his previous life, his dreaded Power Amplifying Devices still roamed the city. It was starting to become a plague.
"We're in." Robin said. "When will they arrive?"
"In one hour." Red X said. He saluted, pushed a button on his belt and vanished away.
The T-car sped to the rendezvous point Red X has signaled them. Red X and the rest of his team were already waiting there. Red X, with his fiancée, Starblast. The highly intelligent Cybermind, who had her arm linked in the arm of the sorcerer of the team, Druid, who's eyes were lighting green in the dark and the ever silent, traveling-through-the-shadows Shadow Walker, who was sharpening his katana with a rock.
"About time you showed up." Druid dryly said. Cybermind gave him a kiss on the cheek, which caused him to smile, only a second.
"And no moment too soon." Red X said, signaling them to hide. A small, yet high tech ship entered the docks. As soon it stopped, a few men jumped on shore and started manning the crane and loaded crates of the ship. It would be a normal activity, if it wasn't for the men holding guns and walking around, searching for …unwanted guests."
"We all know the plan?" Robin asked, referring to the plan that Red X had included with the info plugged in the Titans' computer.
Everyone nodded and started to split up. Robin and Red X went to the rooftops and waited for the signal. After a few more minutes, a green owl flew over the boat dropped a stone in the water.
"TITANS! GO!" Robin yelled.
"STREET TITANS! ATTACK!" Red X yelled.
Beast Boy, still as an owl, flew to the men and morphed into a panther, clawing his way through them. Cyborg and Cybermind came and started blasting the men with guns. So did Starfire and Starblast. Druid and Raven used their mystical powers to disable any other men with guns and Robin and Red X ended the attack by tying every men up.
"That …was easy." Beast Boy said. "Too easy."
"Maybe we should check the crates." Robin said. He hadn't stopped speaking or the cover of one of the crates fell on the ground. Shadow Walker, who had taken care of some men on the ship by Shadow Traveling into it, was already on one of the crates and had opened it with his katana. He dropped his katana. He seemed startled.
"What is it?" Red X asked, rather stricken by Shadow Walker's reaction. "You never react like this, what is it?"
Shadow Walker jumped of the crate and tilted it on it's other side, so the contents of the crates fell out. It was nothing but old papers, broken tv's, plastic weapons and more junk.
"WHAT IS THIS?" Red X yelled, turning to the captured men. He gasped as he saw that they were untied. One of them pointed at Red X, who readied a X-shuriken.
"Traigo-va il Chaota Legio!" he yelled. Red X gasped and dropped the shuriken.
"This dude's not making any sense." Cyborg said, readying his sonic cannon.
"GRAB THEM, Before they …" Robin began.
But it was too late. One of the men threw something on the ground, which exploded and filled the whole area with smoke.
Neither of the Titans could see. They were coughing, trying to find a way out of the smoke.
Druid raised his arms. "I –cough- command the –couch- the wind to listen to me. Blow, brother wind, release us from this smoke. Set us free." His eyes flashed green and the wind started to blow. Once the smoke cleared, the Titans noticed that the men, the crates and even the ship had disappeared.
"This is …unusual." Starblast said, looking around. She noticed Red X, who was leaning against a wall, and he seemed a bit …scared. He was whispering against himself.
"X, everything okay?" Beast Boy said.
"Leave me alone." Red X grunted. "I'm fine, the smoke just burned my lungs a bit."
"You're lying, Nathan." Raven whispered.
"Guys?" Druid said. "Was this here before?"
"What?" Robin asked. Druid pointed at a mark on the ground. It looked like the mark a laser would leave behind.
"So what?" Cyborg asked. "Probably from those guys who used LASER-POWERED WEAPONS."
"Maybe." Starblast said. "But it seems …like it forms …a drawing."
"Can't be." Red X whispered. He climbed on one of the buildings, followed by Robin. Red X gasped when he saw what the marks had made. The lines formed a picture of a long, oval mask-like face, perfectly symmetrical. It looked like an African mask. (AN: Check my DeviantART page, if you really want to know what it looks like.)
"What is it?" Robin asked. "What did that man said to you? What language was that?"
"Nothing you should be concerned about." Red X said. "This …means nothing. Nothing."
"Nathan?" Starblast asked.
"Drop it, Alice." Red X said.
"Okay, we will drop it." Cyborg said. "After you tell us, what the heck just happened?"
"We were fooled." Red X said. "There was no great smuggling operation. Those men lured us here, to defeat us. But we stopped them."
"But…" Starfire said
"That's what happened." Red X said. "I need to think. STREET TITANS, RETREAT TO BASE!"
"But …" Cybermind said.
"THAT'S AN ORDER." Red X yelled, pushing the button on his belt and vanished away.
"I never saw him like that before …ever." Starblast said. "Please don't be mad at the lad, he's probably pissed about the whole failed mission. See you later." She flew away.
"My guess is that he's not telling us something." Druid said. "Nothing strange about that."
Shadow Walker nodded in agreement and pointed at a shadowed place. The shadows started to shift and move like water. He jumped in.
"Well, see ya next time." Cybermind said, jumping into the Shadows. Druid just nodded at the Titans and jumped behind her. Shadow Walker looked in the direction of the Titans for a few moments.
"Goodbye." He said, and jumped into the shadows. They became …normal shadows again.
"Seriously, every time that guy talks, I get shivers over my spine." Beast Boy said.
"Let's go back home." Raven said. "I'm disappointed and tired."
"Me too." Starfire said, grabbing her husband in a hug.
A screen showed how the Titans got in the T-car and left the area. The man who was watching it, Chaos Commander, sitting behind a desk, chuckled silently, Which, with the helmet making it sound deeper and mechanical, sounded creepy. "I suspect that everything went according to plan, sergeant."
The men, who had been at docks moments ago, saluted. "Yes, Sir!".
"Do they suspect anything?" Chaos Commander asked leaning forward, folding his hand on the table.
"Red X might." One man said. "The others likely not."
"And that was the plan." Chaos Commander said, standing up from his chair. "Get some rest, and prepare yourself. The operation will commence in 10 hours. Leave."
The men saluted and left the room. When the door closed, the room became dark. Chaos commander pushed a button on his desk and a light outside his door lighted up. This indicated that no-one, for no reason at all, should enter the room. Chaos Commander pushed a hidden button on the neck of the helmet. The hissing sound of something releasing, some parts of the helmet opened up a bit. Chaos Commander took of the helmet and placed it on his desk. The shadows of the room completely covered his face in darkness, but the only thing you could see, were two blue eyes, almost lighting up in the dark.
