"Soooooo," Gray walked up to Erza's table and placed his forearms on the table, leaning into it. "Where are the resident lovebirds?"
Erza paused from the strawberry cheesecakes she was eating and smiled.
"I believe they're having their...'first date.'"
"Didn't they go on dates before?"
"Yes, but this is their first official date."
"Ah." Gray nodded in understanding. "What's flamebrain doing for her?"
"A picnic."
"Picnic?" The Ice mage asked with a raised brow. "...Yeah I can see it." He took a seat.
Despite their annoyance from last night, everyone was truly happy for Natsu and Ophis's relationship. The older members, mainly Gildarts and Makarov, were crying at how well their little Natsu has grown...even if they were crying out of jealousy. The dense Dragon Slayer finally found someone to share a home with, and that was a cause for celebration! So naturally, they partied until they dropped. Unfortunately, all of them were very powerful wizards with high stamina. So the party lasted all night until the residents of Magnolia came to stop them because they were being too loud.
Just another day in Fairy Tail.
"I can't believe that idiot got a girlfriend." Gray sighed, still in disbelief at the thought of his rival in a relationship.
"You say that, but you have a smile on your face." Erza chuckled. Getting embarrassed, his face became flushed as he buried himself in his arms.
Erza softly smiled. She was skeptical of Ophis when Natsu met here. A dragon from another dimension seeking his help to fight a more powerful dragon? How could she not be wary? Especially when Ophis said she didn't want their help, only Natsu's. It was unsettling for her. Fortunately, Natsu was able to break the cold heart Ophis had and made her act more girly.
It was only a matter of time, she supposed. Natsu had a habit of making everyone happier by being near him. Be it former enemies, a brother bent on erasing the things he loved, and, if the Dragon Slayers are to be believed, the person who murdered his father. She briefly wondered how Natsu possessed such a kind heart despite being revived from the dead but threw the thought out of her head.
It didn't matter what Natsu was, only the fact that he remains the same as he always is.
Her idiotic little brother.
Naturally, shell never say this out loud less Ophis hears about it. That woman's jealousy surpassed Juvia on any given day.
'Then again,' Erza thought. 'it was Arianna's fault for trying to seduce him.'
Erza agreed with Ophis on one thing.
Anything threatening to corrupt Natsu's pureness deserves death.
Still, she couldn't help but worry about their date. Natsu's destructive personality and Ophis's lack of common sense led to rather...disastrous results. But Natsu has shown a level of maturity Erza thought she'd never see in him. Surely she could trust him not to do anything to destroy Fairy Tail's reputation right?
...Right?
Natsu stared blankly at her.
Ophis shifted, uncomfortable by the look he was giving.
"...Why?" His voice was monotone.
"She was trying to seduce you!" Ophis appealed her case. It didn't work.
"It was a butterfly Ophis!"
"She was batting her eyelashes!"
"She was batting her wings!"
Unable to refute that, Ophis tried a different approach.
"I-It's not that destroyed."
Natsu looks at her incredulously before shaking his head. They both knew what she said was a lie, seeing as there was now a giant *ss hole where three mountains and a forest should be.
"I'll tell them it was me." Natsu sighed, causing Ophis to frown in guilt.
Shame welled up within her. This was supposed to be their first official date, right? They were supposed to have fun. But all she's done is given him more worries and trouble. Her thoughts were cut off when a warm hand petted her head. She instinctively mewled and leaned into the touch.
"Don't worry about it," Natsu reassured her. "Let's just focus on our date today, alright?"
Ophis nodded. "Yes! Natsu-kun!"
"..."
"..."
"..."
"..."
"...'Natsu-kun?'"
"Quiet."
"I'm not mad, but Natsu-kun?"
"Quiet."
"Should I call you Ophis-chan?"
"I demand silence."
"Ophis-chaaaaaaan~"
"SILEEEEEEEEEEENCE!"
Luckily, Natsu stopped teasing her in favor of a nice and quiet walk through a nearby forest.
"Very peaceful, huh?"
"Mhm."
And that was it. There was a certain level of closeness you have with a person where the silence doesn't feel awkward at all. Just the feeling of each other close to them was enough.
"Natsu."
"Yes?"
"Give me head pats."
"Yes yes."
Most of the time.
"Here we are!"
Ophis looked around at the place Natsu brought them to. It was a clearing in the forest with a canopy acting as a roof, with sunlight breaking through it allowing light in. Surrounded by trees, too far in for any noisy wind to come through. A nice little silent place with an excellent view.
Ophis felt her cheeks flush.
Natsu really knew her.
She quickly moved to help Natsu with setting up the picnic. Once finished, she gave her best puppy-eye look to Natsu, who was more than happy to hand her the basket. He chuckled at her reaction when she opened it. There was a line of drool at the corner of her lips as she had stars in her eyes. He watched as she gobbled everything up, taking nibbles that reminded him of a chipmunk with how full her cheeks were. Ophis froze when she heard him laugh, and pouted at him. It only caused him to laugh harder as she still hasn't swallowed the food, making her cheeks even more puffed up.
"It's not that funny..." She muttered.
"I beg to differ." Natsu smiled at her teasingly.
"Muoh!"
"You've been making some really weird noises lately."
"This is your fault."
"My fault?" Natsu raised a brow.
"Yes." Ophis voice was monotone, which was considered normal. But since she used it on Natsu, it meant she was mad.
"Then please, O' Great Infinity Dragon God, please explain to your humble servant how he made you act this way." Natsu's sarcasm was lost on her.
Ophis nodded. "It's simple really. Because I love you so much, a concept that was foreign to me, it's making me act in ways so embarrassing, I would kill myself before letting anyone see them. You lowered my guard, making me act like a high school girl, instead of the majestic and beautiful me that I am!"
*Snort*
"..." Ophis turned to look at him, eyes frigid. "Did you just snort?"
While she normally wouldn't care for such behavior, said behavior came from the one person who shouldn't have laughed at her. Boyfriends don't laugh at girlfriends and are always supposed to agree with them right? He should be on the ground, begging for forgiveness. Feminine rights and all that.
"No." He looked away from her, trying to not burst his gut with laughter.
"You did didn't you."
"I have no idea what you're talking about."
"...Majestic and beautiful me-"
*SNORT*
"-YOU B*STAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARD!" She kicked him while he was rolling on the ground laughing.
I'M BAAAAAACK! DID YA MISS ME!?
