Back from a long week of school and work. I'm back while on spring break and will work more on this story while doing some art and research on making this story. Debating whether I should go to Orlando or Miami for a mini staycation to relieve my mind or go to the woods and hike like always on my days off. Note for those who are a little confused the story's present time takes place after the future canon of the show of what could happen if it were more in-depth.
I see how the show does relate a bit to my life, as I grew up in a Mexican-majority community and had a best female friend much like the main characters. But the difference was that I grew up in a small farm town in South Florida, I'm of Salvadoran descent, the Mexican culture is strong but way different, And finally, a mix of other cultures like Caribbean, South American, and Middle Eastern has a strongly growing population here.
If my story were a show, which I hope one day to make it into a mini-series or comic, this is how I would describe the setting parallel to Miracle City as an intro.
Suniami (Florida), a city of magic, fun, and of course, heroism and villainy! Home to Calvin Delagua is better known as the Blue Eagle and nephew of the legendary hero Jose Delagua is known as Cybersurfer! But regardless, the show must go on and enjoy!
Cafeteria, 12:30 PM
After class, Manny sat with Zoe at lunch since she was the only person he could be around with and relate to since the two had known each other for a long time. Since Zoe and Frida were rivals over getting his attention, Zoe saw this as a chance to get closer to him as Frida always had him on a hook since he chose to hang out with her over her as kids.
"Wow, only Day 2 and it's off to a great start, but I really need to find out what's going on! I'm nervous to find out where I am and who and where my relatives are today!" said Manny. "
"Same here, Hey what if by any chance... we were... something today?" asked Zoe. "
What?!" said Manny with a slight blush on his face.
"Nothing," said Zoe.
Calvin, Gibbs, Patricia, Eva, Octavia, and Rob came to sit with them after waiting in line.
"Whatcha two lovebirds talking about and in our special table!?" said Gibbs. Calvin slapped him on the head and so did Patricia.
"Be nice nino! Apologize!" said Patricia.
"Sorry guys didn't mean it like that but that's a reason why I'm with her, she's a tough woman keeping me in check!" Said, Gibbs.
Manny and Zoe's faces turned red when he said lovebirds but sorely accepted his apology. Patricia smiled when Gibbs mentioned he likes her toughness and level of care for him. Octavia sat right alongside Calvin while Rob sat alongside Manny and Zoe. Eva sat on Calvin's left side while Gibbs sat with Patricia on Eva's left side of the table. Eva and Octavia looked at each other with disgust as they had a rivalry over Calvin.
"Hey Calvin, we should do something later on the day since I'm tutoring Zoe," asked Octavia.
"Nope we have things to settle after school!" said Eva.
"Like you have anything else important to do, why not protect your city?!" said Octavia.
Calvin rather stays single since he doesn't like getting into relationships due to his trauma not letting him, let alone his mission of being a hero. As Eva and Octavia were arguing over Calvin, Zoe looked and reflected on how the girls were arguing right now in the same situation over Calvin but with Frida involved over Manny.
"Hey calm down! Leave him alone he'll tell you what he wants to do!" yelled Rob defending his friend. Calvin thanked Rob and calmed down the girls fighting over his attention.
"Sorry Eva but she's right, Mr. Kook let her work alongside me to tutor Manny and Zoe," said Calvin.
"Fine! But we're still hanging out as always!" said Eva fiercely seeing a disgusted Octavia. The two girls started arguing with Calvin showing a stressed face,
"Hey, muchachas! Let's talk about me I'm the star of the table. !" said Gibbs.
"Someone as idiotic as you?! I doubt it," said Zoe.
"Look Lady! I got my origins like any other hero, a boy raised from a small farm town going to a hero!" said Gibbs.
"Freak... but in a good way." said Octavia in alliance with Zoe.
"Oh, you're going to love this! How he became the Florida Boy!" said Calvin.
Manny laughed with the group as they talked about what Gibbs did to earn his nickname the Florida Boy.
"I fought an alligator when he tried to attack my dog! I got bit in the arm but survived fighting a 10-footer!" said Gibbs showing his left arm's scars.
"Whoa!" said Manny.
"Kid you have a scar on your eye, we boys see that as an achievement and a battle scar!" said Gibbs.
"You're right on that, a battle scar," said Manny reflecting on how he got his scar on his first fight ever as a vigilante.
"I got tons on my back, but long story," said Calvin.
"Remember when he put a firework in his mouth, and it blew in his face last New Year's? XD" laughed Calvin.
"Wait what about at the gator show when you put your head in the gator's mouth and he almost snapped you in two!" said Eva when she was watching Gibbs perform gator shows with his friend Mark Osceola at the nearby Native American reservation.
The group laughed along with Manny laughing more as he was learning more about Gibbs.
"I remember you and Nathan Pittman were in your boxers outside during Hurricane Emmanuel and it was blowing hard gusts and the two of y'all were holding the American and Floridian Flag screaming and shaking your heads while blasting country and rock music!" said Calvin showing a video from his smartphone of the two screaming to the group with Manny laughing harder but soon calmed down.
"Nate is a true Florida man, especially he's from Haxsonville!" said Rob.
"MURICAHHH!" said Gibbs
"Silly boy, love to here more but I got a club meeting with Eva!" said Patricia giving Gibbs a hug before leaving to her meeting leaving with Eva.
"See ya later bae!" said Gibbs.
"Well gotta go too,
"Dude you're crazy for doing all that with no powers! And what is a bae?" said Manny.
"Why? I'm Floridian and when you're born here in Florida you get your own powers and mines is doing crazy impossible stuff! And it's a word describing your love." said Gibbs.
"Oh..." said Manny.
"That Florida heat is making you superhuman!" said Calvin.
"Totally, it's so hot and humid here and he's crazier than all the villains in Miracle City!" said Manny looking at Zoe with the two laughing.
"Fool he is..." said Zoe.
"Aight that's enough about me. Hey kid, what's your story?" asked Gibbs to Manny.
"Well, I'm from Miracle City, Mexico, I come from a family of heroes and villains, the scar on my eye is when I fought my first battle, and this is my belt that turns me into El Tigre." said Manny.
"Ahh, well I'm from Oarlando, Florida, My family is of farmers and mechanics, I got these scars from my battles in the swamps with creatures, and this is my lucky gator tooth necklace I made after my first battle with one," said Gibbs.
"Cool," said Manny.
"So, heard you and that purple bird lady had some moments huh? Seems you, me and Cal boy her have a lot in common!" said Gibbs.
"What? What do you mean?" asked Manny.
"Well, I broke a girl's heart once like you did, this nice Italian Girl named Gia Bernoulli. I wanted to prove that I'm not some regular boy, in trying to stop the infamous Bernoulli Mafia from their underground crime schemes, but it failed and I almost got killed. Cal here saved me but I was scolded for it, I felt regretful and decided to forgive her at school and in return, I got a beso!" said Gibbs.
"Oh... I did break her heart, and over time I felt regretful, never truly apologizing to her other when she tried to kill me and I said she wins, angering her more... Guess I really am jerk after all, probably she doesn't like me much anymore..." said Manny with a frown look.
"Kid, I did too stab a girl in her back, a young villainess named Oscura, I played her by pretending to like her even though I actually did catch some feelings, rarely something I feel because of my independent nature. It hurt me as it did her since I learned of her schemes during our hangouts, I saved a couple of banks from her since she was planning to rob millions in international currencies. A few days later, I tried to apologize to her but she tried to kill me, but seeing how brave I was to say sorry, she flew away with a smile on her face and that brighten my day knowing she accepted it." said Calvin reflecting on his past battle with the young villainess.
"Wow, maybe I should try to apologize to Black Cuervo! Even if it means dying for it! But it would be scary!" said Manny.
"Kid, just remember to speak from your heart's fire, mean it like your life's on it, and I and Gibbs have your back if you want us to but be careful!" said Calvin.
"Yep! A lesson we all learn is not to play with a woman's affection! Especially if they're powerful!" said Gibbs. Zoe and Octavia heard the boy's story and were astonished by their confessions of breaking their hearts, particularly Calvin and Manny. They decided to step out for a moment to talk in private about what they heard in the hallway as it was almost time to go to class.
"Seems they feel truly sorry," said Zoe with a sore look.
"Hmph, good thing he apologizes to me, he has good morality, seems your friend struggles to do so properly," said Octavia.
"I still like him, but I guess he is changing as he's learning," said Zoe.
"Seems we're both going to get what we want," said Octavia.
"Indeed, two boys with great power will soon be ours to keep," said Zoe with a smirk along with Octavia as they walked down to class.
School Front yard, 3:30 PM
After class, Octavia talked to Zoe about their plan on the way out while Manny was waiting outside for Zoe. Octavia seperated to let them talk while standing aside from them. Manny met with Zoe at the front of the school a bit after everyone has left since Zoe wanted it to be private as the two had to discuss something important. Manny let the boys know they will stay after school a bit and to pick them up at 4. Octavia was outside waiting to talk to her and Calvin about hanging out of his house.
"Listen Manny, as much as I want to learn about the future, I need to tell you something I think I should share with you," said Zoe. "Well, what is it?" said Manny curiously.
"I... believe that the future could involve you and me... a bit close...," said Zoe.
Manny stumbled at what he heard, but somewhat agrees with her as the clues were small but it seems to be leading to something truly big.
"Maybe, I..hope so... and if that's the case I look forward to it, even if the other woman is who I think it is, I'm glad that there might be a chance between us after all in the end...," said Manny.
Zoe sadly knew what he was trying to say but was happy to hear that Manny acknowledged a possible link and looked at him in the eyes with a slight smile as a sign of affection with Manny looking back smiling too. Octavia came along and saw the two-sharing affection for each other and showing a smile then pulled Zoe to talk with her.
"Hey Zoe, are you ready?" asked Octavia.
"Yes, here they come," said Zoe seeing Calvin pulling up with his car and Gibbs on the passenger side. Octavia went to the side of driver's side to talk to Calvin.
"Hey Calvin, I wanted to ask if you want to hang out at your house, me and Zoe are doing a project together plus she needs a friend to help her since she hangouts with you boys a lot!" said Octavia.
"Sure! Wow, I felt bad that she only hangs out with us boys and not no other girls, guess you can help us with that! Don't mind it at all and thank you! You really are a smart and pretty girl!" said Calvin with a smirk making Octavia blush.
"Aww, thanks, Calvin." Said Octavia hopping in the car with Zoe in the back with Manny seating in the middle of them.
The boys picked Octavia, Zoe, and Manny them up in the car and noticed that Zoe had a slight smile noting her changed attitude. They were sent a message from Mitchell Allen, a fellow friend who is from Australia and has peak human intellect and strength as he has a cyber prosthetic arm when he lost his original in a battle in Walebourne. The message reads:
"Hey mates, this is Mitch and I got results from the lab, they're here near you! Be careful and interrogate the woman carefully as she is a tough one!" - Mitch.
"Hey kids I got some good news and bad news," said Calvin.
"Good News?" said both Manny and Zoe.
"We've confirmed the two are y'all are here in our present based on the DNA tests and help from fellow mates," said Gibbs.
"And the bad news?" said both again.
"Well, it did seem you both went your own ways, as big you Manny became an artist, was married, and now living alone in Mexico raising your three kids with your folks," said Calvin.
"And for you Zoe, it seems you travel quite often, but too are separate from anyone since you were with someone too but soon left based on what Mitchell found out," said Calvin.
"Mitch? That Aussie kid?" said Octavia.
"Oh yes Mitchie boy my favorite Australian!" said Gibbs.
"Yeah him, he moved back here from Racetona Beach," said Calvin.
Zoe and Manny were glad that their future selves were okay, but startled by how they were not in touch with anyone but themselves.
"So I went to College, was married but now alone, had kids with different women, and was an artist?" said Manny.
"Apparently so, based on Mitchell's report, the last person you were with left without a trace" Gibbs answered.
"Wow, I wonder who she is?" said Manny.
"Who knows, why is your guy side of the family always single and raising their kids by themselves, let alone having short relationships?" said Gibbs.
"Well... I don't know... seems right why all the guys in my family go single and never have a long relationship, even me" said Manny sorely.
"Sounds like some type of curse," said Gibbs.
"Indeed." said Octavia.
Zoe and Manny were shocked at what their future selves had to deal with, knowing one day they would have to face those things. But on the other hand, Manny seemed a bit rattled but calm that he turned over a new leaf and started a normal life other than him repeating his father and grandfather's cycle of being single fathers raising their children by themselves. And same for Zoe as her mother and grandmother being single mothers, except Zoe in the future doesn't have any children.
"So kid how you like it here so far in Florida?" asked Gibbs to Manny.
"Pretty cool! But I just feel so homesick, this culture is so different!" said Manny.
"Ah kid relax you'll make it, there's some places I know that can make you feel at home!" said Gibbs.
"Really where?" said Manny.
"West Cove Beach which is about an hour north of here has a strong Mexican culture and community, there's a place there we call Little Miracle City which has some similar aspects like your city. Along with some other places in the Southwest and Central region of the state but I'll take you there. Plus we'll ride an airboat there need the swamps!" said Gibbs.
"Wow, how cool! A Little Miracle City? Can't wait and what's an airboat?" asked Manny.
"Oh boy I rather tell you when you see mines at mi casa!" said Gibbs.
Estrella Island, Vanguard Mansion, 4:16 PM.
Based on Mitchell's report, the boys were preparing to find adult Manny and Zoe, knowing who they were and where they were located. Zoe, Octavia, and Manny were at the table doing homework and talking about what they'd learned so far.
"Wow, glad we're okay currently but I'm scared to meet myself," said Manny.
"Hm, I can't wait to meet my older self and I'm a lil nervous too," said Zoe. The boys were notified by Mitchell that the older Zoe was in the area.
"She just came from a long trip in North Mexico, be on the lookout for a woman in a leather jacket with a purple shirt, dark purple hair, and a black and purple bike!" said Mitchell.
"This is going to be good and bad," said Gibbs.
"Yeah, but we're getting close to solving the mystery but still far from the truth," said Calvin as they were going out to the car.
"Strange she would come here, Why Florida? I thought she would stay where she's at," said Gibbs.
"Retiring soon I guess?" said Calvin.
"Really? She can't be that old to retire" said Octavia.
In the room where Zoe and Manny were, they continued their conversation while Octavia decided to talk with Calvin, who was across the living room.
"You know, if we do end up seeing each other at an older age, I wouldn't regret it, whatever the outcome," said Manny. Zoe smiled and acknowledged him for his courage to say that.
"You know, I did once like you until you decided to go with that trash," said Zoe.
"Hey... I was only a kid, I didn't mean to make you feel bad that way, but I... I don't know what to say. I was in a tough spot but, I kind of liked you too..." said Manny with a sad and guilty look.
Zoe smiled and hugged him from the back, comforting him which caused Manny to smile as he felt her hug and warmth plus blushed.
The two looked at each other with their glistening eyes locked on their faces. Zoe and Manny were close to each other's faces.
Near them were Octavia and Calvin having a conversation.
"You know Octavia, I'm sorry if I never was a good friend to you let alone misjudging you. Seems I've been ignorant to you since you were in the IHS and I want to rebuild our relationship and hang out more often." Said, Calvin.
"I accept your apology Calvin, and yes, we need to rebuild our relationship and I'm happy to hang out with you while helping Zoe," said Octavia.
"Thank you, I'm glad we can start rebuilding ourselves one step at a time," said Calvin holding her hands and looking into Octavia's eyes, the two teens blushed looking at each other and Manny and Zoe noticed them.
"Wow, it's like looking at a reflection of us," said Zoe looking at them.
"True, they're like us but yet so different," said Manny and then looked at Zoe.
"Manny... We should do more here while being here, with each other," said Zoe.
"Yes, I'm looking forward to it," said Manny giving her a hug, Zoe blushed but smiled seeing she was gaining his full attention with no competition. Then looking at her new friend bonding with the boy she likes as well as herself.
"Calvin, I know you had a hard past but you deserve happiness. Even me in my dark nature needs some too," said Octavia giving Calvin a hug, Calvin blushed but smiled seeing she was right.
"You might be a hard head you emotional freak. But I will comfort you as we both need each other as I had a rough past too. You and I deserve happiness from our dark past. " said Octavia in her mind.
"You Rivera may be a fool, but I see a chance between us, you definitely have my heart on a hook. I hope you see that, and you have yours on mines," said Zoe in her mind with a smile.
Octavia left home after finishing the project with Zoe, Zoe went to her room and was feeling more different than usual. Seeing herself in her new friend gave her a bit of hope. The boys on the other hand felt different as well.
Seems things will get better as all the characters continued to bond more and learn more about each other. As I have the week off from college, I will work more on the story while trying to draw my characters on what they will look like and of course the others. Stay tuned for more as I will make further updates as I continued this story while on vacation.
