Author's Comments: unlike in prelims where I had one form ash's friends and one from his ex friends I'm just doing battles in matter of importance, so the first and second matches aren't as important to the main plot as say the fifth and sixth matches

Bonnie bounced where she stood, oozing excitement as she waited to be called. While it was only the preliminaries, she couldn't help feeling excited that she would be starting the Quarterfinals off against a woman named Ursula. Bonnie was mildly aware of her, recognising her as the rude performer that picked at Serena whenever they were at the same Showcase. Admittedly, the lolita styled woman was not Bonnie's favorite person, but she was excited to battle her regardless.

"If you keep bouncing like that you'll run out of energy before your battle." Lillie giggled, carding her fingers through Snowy's cold fur.

"I'm just so excited!" Bonnie squealed, trying to calm herself down.

Serena chuckled beside her. "We know you are but you're going to get hurt if you don't calm down at least a little bit." She pointed out, taking a seat between Lillie and Lana.

Bonnie started to respond but was interrupted by her smartphone beeping. Pulling the device out, she opened the picture she received from her dad. The picture was of the living room back at Lumiose Gym, showing Clemont, Clembot, and all their Pokemon sitting in front of the television, on the tv she would just barely make out Lance, who had just finished welcoming everyone to the Quarterfinal matches. After the picture was a message; 'Rooting for you kiddo! Kick butt!' Grinning, she hugged her phone, feeling more energized, and somehow more calm at the same time.

'Will Bonnie and Ursala please make their way to their stages, we're ready for you now." A voice sounded from the intercom.

Bonnie nodded with self determination, and patted Dedenne's head before the rodent vanished into her bag. With vigor, the blonde girl made her way to her stage. Across from her was Ursula, the salmon haired woman was, in Bonnie's opinion, overdressed in a blue and white lolita style outfit more befitting a showcase, a haunty smirk on her face.

The referee walked up to his spot. "The Battle between Bonnie and Ursula is about to begin!" He started, drawing the bustling crowds attention. "This is a two on two, single battle, no substitutions are permitted! The battle will be over when one side is out of Pokemon, or a trainer forfeits! Begin!"

"Vaporeon!" Ursula threw out her Pokeball, revealing a pretty tetrapod Pokemon with shimmering blue scales and white head fins. The battlefield was half water, half land due to Ursula's requesting it.

While Ursula threw out Vaporeon, Bonnie released her own Pokemon. "Come out and play Floette!" She giggled excitedly, watching as the small Fairy type materialized, a pretty orange flower in her hands.

"Aurora Beam Vaporeon!" The fins around Vaporeon's neck ruffled as it moved, mouth opening to fire an elegant multi-colored beam at the Fairy Type.

"Use Safeguard!" Floette cocked her head in thought before spinning the orange flower in front of her. Floette became encased in a shimmery white shield, causing Aurora Beam to bounce right off. "Fairy Wind!" Floette spun in the air, causing pretty pink gusts of air to ripple around her before they became sharp blades of air, tearing towards Vaporeon.

"Water Pulse and Iron Tail!" A miraculous blue orb of water formed in front of Vaporeon's mouth, Vaporeon shot it upwards, its tail slighting up and turning to steel. When Water Pulse came back down Vaporeon hit it with it's tail, causing it to sail towards Fairy Wind. The two moves met, causing an explosion in the middle that caused both Pokemon to stagger due to the rippling after effects.

Bonnie didn't wait for the shimmering smoke to disappear. "Magical Leaf!" Glowing green leaves cut through the smoke, raining down upon Vaporeon while causing damage.

"Into the water and use Water Gun!" Vaporeon let itself be pushed off its platform and dove into the water, seemingly vanishing in the blue waves until a strong stream of water burst from the surface, spraying Floette with a hard enough gush that it caused her to falter.

"Petal Blizzard now!" Bonnie ordered frantically. Floette's flower started glowing and orange flower petals started whipping around, twisting and turning in the air like snow in a blizzard. It tore the Water Gun to shreds, stopping the assault on Floette and causing the pool's water to be disrupted, shaking Vaporeon from it's hiding place. "Moonblast!"

"Protect yourself with Water Pulse!"

A swirling pink ball of energy burst from Petal Blizzard, taking some of the orange petals with it, and soaring towards Vaporeon. Meanwhile, Vaporeon gathered a large Water Pulse by its jaw before hurling it towards Moonblast. The two orbs fought for dominance, pushing and shoving each other to get past to hit their target. Never one to back down, Bonnie called for another Magical Leaf, the glowing green leaves shooting forward, colliding with Moonblast and giving it an extra push just as Ursula realized what Bonnie was doing, but it was too late for the older girl to respond in kind. Moonblast powered through Water Pulse and descended on Vaporeon, knocking it out.

"Vaporeon is unable to battle! Will Trainer Ursula please forfeit or send out her next Pokemon." The referee called out quickly.

Grumbling, Ursula returned Vaporeon, and sent out a fairy type of her own. "Jigglypuff!" A round pink Pokemon popped out of the Pokeball, a bright smile on its face as it bounced with readiness to battle.

"Alright, the battle is between Floette, and Jigglypuff. Begin!"

"Disarming Voice!"

"Moonblast!"

Vibrant pink sound waves ripped from Jugglypuff before being intercepted by Moonblast. The two moves colliding caused pink fireworks to cackle in the sky above and for music notes to skatter. With everyone distracted by the fireworks display, Ursula made her move with Body Slam. Floette had little time to react, both herself and Bonnie were distracted by the display above, and she cried out in alarm as Jigglypuff slammed into her, holding her down under its weight.

"Oh no, Petal Blizzard Floette!" Bonnie snapped out of the spectacle when Floette cried out.

"Don't give it a chance, Gyro Ball!" Ursula ordered with an exaggerated arm movement. From where it held Floette down, Jigglypuff started spinning rapidly, a blue light emitting from it due to how fast it was moving. As it held Floette down, Jigglypuff had not problem hitting her full force in close quarters, flinging Floette due to the force before rounding and hitting her again.

As Jigglypuff backed off and the smoke cleared, Floette laid clearly on the ground, her eyes spinning. "Floette is unable to battle! Will Trainer Bonnie please forfeit or send out her next Pokemon." The Referee called out, and Bonnie swiftly recalled Floette to her Pokeball while Ursula smirked smugly.

"Its not over yet!" Bonnie grinned, pulling out her next Pokeball. This Pokeball was different from the usual red and white, it was pink and white, with a noticeable lighter pink heart on the top. "Come out and play Mawile!" From the Love Ball burst a bipedal yellow Pokemon with a ponytail like black jaw protruding from the back of his head.

"Alright, the battle is between Mawile, and Jigglypuff. Begin!"

"Rollout Jigglypuff!" Ursula wasted no time getting the ball rolling.

"Double Team!" Mawile didn't move a muscle as copies of itself swept the field. Jigglypuff rolled straight towards where the original Mawile had been, but simply slammed into a copy. Turning, Jigglypuff went after another, but it was again a copy. "Play Rough Mawile!" Mawile leapt forward, landing on Jigglypuff and tussling with it.

"Disarming Voice!" Damaging pink sound waves rippled from Jigglypuff, causing Mawile to leap away. The damaging waves also destroyed Mawile's remaining doubles. "Now, into the air!" Jigglypuff sucked in air, its tiny body expanding until it started to float like a balloon. "Now use Body Slam!"

"Fairy Wind Mawile, don't let it get too close!" As Jigglypuff started to drop Mawile kicked up sparkling pink winds, disrupting the initial fall.

"Gyro Ball!" Jigglypuff started to spin, blue energy once again encasing it with the amount of force. It started to descend, Gyro Ball's energy sucking in that from Fairy wind and causing Jigglypuff to look like a pink and blue cyclone.

"Meet it with Iron Head!" Mawile's head flushed silver, the black on his head and horns turning metallic like steel.

Jigglypuff and Mawile collided, Iron Head did much to protect Mawile from the initial blast, halting Jigglypuff in its wake for a number of seconds before the two Pokemon jumped away from each other, both panting heavily.

"Pound Jigglypuff!"

"Catch it with Crunch!"

Jigglypuff jumped forward, its paw lightning up as it got ready to use Pound, but Mawile was a bit quicker, whipping around to grab Jigglypuff with its back mouth, Crunch biting into Jigglypuff's arm.

"Throw it and end it with Iron Head!" Just as Bonnie instructed, Mawile craned his head, throwing Jigglypuff up, and jumping after it, his head bashing into Jigglypuff and knocking it out.

"Jigglypuff is unable to battle! The winner of this match is Bonnie!"

Bonnie jumped in joy, waving her arms at Mawile as she did so. "You were amazing Mawile! So so so cool!" Mawile's face flushed due to the praise, but he quickly shook it off and puffed his chest with pride until he was returned to his Pokeball.

Across the way Ursula growled, returning Jigglypuff before turning on her heel and storming away.

"Oh no, Ursula lost, such a shame." Dawn said dryly, not a hint of remorse in her tone as she watched the pink haired girl storm away. May and Misty snorted in amusement, Misty elbowing her in the side playfully at the gibe.

"Are the Fairy Types gone?" Iris whispered, slowly peeking out from under her seat, where she had dived as soon as she laid eyes on Floette.

"They're gone." Gary assured, snickering as she sighed in relief and pulled herself out of her hiding place.

"That little girl is actually pretty good for a child." Cilan mused. "Like a fresh sprig of mint in the spring, sprouting and filling the air with a pleasant aroma, waiting for just the right person to come along and turn her into an elegant dish~"

Misty sweat dropped. "Well, she isn't that bad, no, could definitely use a good mentor though. What do you think Brock?"

"Huh? Oh yeah." Brock snapped out of his own mind. He had been very quiet since he returned the night before, but no one could get him to tell them what upset him. "But her brother is actually a Gym Leader, so I'm not surprised." With his bit spoken, he fell silent again, and his friends exchanged uneasy glances.

"I'm gonna get ready for my match." Max said, breaking the awkward silence as he headed out of the stands.

—-

Max looked down at the picture of his opponent. The tournament had all participants posted, not their Pokemon, or trainer rank, but their head shots and names were supplied in case trainers wanted to have short practice matches, or befriend their opponent after their match. Trevor, his opponent, looked about Dawn's and Iris' age with thick ginger hair. He looked pretty normal, though with a noticeable camera hanging from his neck, so Max couldn't really make out much of his personality or trainer class. Even a quick search on his Pokenav only gave him brief video clips of the boy's battles in the Kalos Pokemon League, but as Alain had won most of the documented battle was on him rather than Trevor.

"Will Max and Trevor please make their way to the battlefield? Your battle is about to begin." Max sighed as the intercom cackled overhead.

Though he didn't get as much information as he would have liked, he still made his way to his side of the field. On the other side was Drevor, looking just as he did in the picture, with a camera in his hand, ready to take a picture. From afar Max could just make out the glint of a key stone, and sighed in relief that they weren't allowed. Mega Evolution was something he had been working towards, but just hadn't been able to unlock just yet.

"The Battle between Max and Trevor is about to begin!" The referee started, drawing Max's attention to the battle at hand. "This is a two on two, single battle, no substitutions are permitted! The battle will be over when one side is out of Pokemon, or a trainer forfeits! Begin!"

"Lets go Sceptile!" A large green gecko Pokemon took the field, yellow eyes searing with excitement as he took in his surroundings.

"Lets get to it Florges!" The floating Fairy Type took the field, the flowers around her collar a beautiful white, with a few pink and blue flowers sprinkled in. "Start out with Grassy Terrain!" As Florges folded her arms, green energy echoed around the arena, and Max smirked. Trevor had given Max and Sceptile a great boost. "Now Use Energy Ball!"

"Leaf Blade!" Florges released a glowing green ball of energy, causing it to soar towards Sceptile. In a flash, before anyone could blink properly, the leaves along Sceptile's forearms glowed white and green, becoming sharp as a katana. Sceptile sliced through the Energy Ball with ease, causing it to explode behind him in a mass of green light. "Leaf Storm!" A flurry of leaves took the stage from Sceptile's tail, whirling towards Florges.

"Moonblast!" Florges threw the pink orb of energy towards Leaf Storm, but it was easily picked up by the swirling leaves, Grassy Terrain having amplified Sceptile's abilities. Florges cried out as she was swept up by Leaf Storm as well, being tossed and turned in the air.

"Leaf Blade Sceptile!" Sceptile leaped into Leaf Storm, easily maneuvering in his own move. The leaves on his arms once again lit up, and sharpened into blades, before slicing down on Florges, sending her flying out of Leaf Storm and passing out on the field below.

"Florges is unable to battle! Will Trainer Trevor please forfeit or send out his next Pokemon."

Max grinned to himself as Trevor returned the white Florges, but as he sent out his next Pokemon, his smile vanished. "Lets get too it Charizard!" In comparison to Ash's Charizard, Trevor's had nothing, but it was still huge, the fire on its tail burning nice and strong, while its wings flapped with vigor, and a roar broke from it's throat.

"Alright, the battle is between Charizard, and Sceptile. Begin!"

"Heat Wave!" Charizard's wings spread out, giving everyone a good look of its full wing span, before flapping outwards and releasing a gust of heat that soared towards Sceptile, throwing him backwards.

"Oh no, are you alright Sceptile?!" Max called out to his partner. Sceptile pulled himself back up, growling in an affirmative. "Then let's confuse it with Double Team." In a flash, a handful of Sceptile took the field, each identical to the other.

"Blow them all away with Fire Spin!" Charizard's jaws parted and a swirling stream of flame took the stadium, wrapping each copy up, and causing them to vanish until the real Sceptile was all that was left. Sceptile collapsed, eyes in swirls as he passed out.

The referee was quick to act, calling the match to a close. "Sceptile is unable to battle! Will Trainer Max please forfeit or send out his next Pokemon."

Max quickly recalled Sceptile, the Grass Type safely tucked away in his Pokeball until he could get him to Nurse Joy. Biting his lip, Max grabbed his next Pokemon. "Lets go Snorlax!" The large blue and white bear-cat Pokemon popped out of the Pokeball, yawning as he was awoken from his nap.

"Alright, the battle is between Charizard, and Snorlax. Begin!"

"Dragon Claw Charizard!"

"Focus Punch!"

Charizard roared, its claws glowing a draconic green as they extended before it took flight, and flew towards Snorlax. Snorlax didn't move, focusing on the power that grew in his paws while glowing white. When Charizard neared, he drew his fist back, meating Dragon Claw with Focus Punch.

"Dragon Tail!" Charizard twisted his body, swinging his glowing green towards Snorlax and causing the massive Pokemon to slide back, if only slightly due to his size.

"Body Slam!"

"Into the air!" Charizard didn't get further than flaring his wings as Snorlax slammed onto him, his massive weight disrupting any hope to fly.

"Alright!" Max grinned. Despite Snorlax's size, he had spent years as a Coordinator's, May's, Pokemon, so while not as fast as Sceptile, he was faster than your average Snorlax. "Solar Beam!" Snorlax's jaws opened, a beam building in his muzzle as Charizard fought to shake it off. With no such luck, Charizard growled as Solar Beam, powered up by the lingering Grassy Terrain, hit.

Tervor narrowed his eyes. Charizard wasn't overly hurt due to his type advantage, but the sheer closeness of the attack affected it a bit more than it should have. "Heat Wave Charizard, try and shake it off!" He ordered.

Charizard started extruding heat, his body twisting as he tried to shake Snorlax off. Snorlax growled at the onslaught of heat, sweating beneath his fur as the burn waves hit him. Unable to withstand it, he jumped away, freeing Charizard , who immediately took to the sky, putting distance between them.

"Flamethrower!" Charizard roared, immediately blasting a burst of flame at Snorlax. Snorlax grunting in pain, holding his arms up in attempts to block Flamethrower.

"Snorlax, Rest!" Max ordered immediately as Flamethrower tapered off. Damaged, Snorlax shut his eyes, falling asleep where he stood. Snorlax started to glow a subtle green color, the burns along his fur vanishing before the audience's eyes.

"Dragon Claw Charizard before it wakes up!" Trevor ordered. Charizard's claws lit up before the Fire Flying type spun into a nosedive towards Snorlax.

Max smirked. "Sleep Talk!"

Trevor's eyes bulged and he silently cursed. "He knows that?!"

Snorlax's sleeping form leapt into the air as Charizard neared, before plummeting onto it in another Body Slam, followed by a Focus Punch that sent Charizard skitting to the side.

"Fire Spin!" Charizard stood shakily, jaws parting for the swirl of flames to tear after the sleeping Pokemon.

"Sleep Talk!" Max ordered again, as there was little else to do. Snorlax's mouth opened, firing another Solar Beam that collided with Fire Spin. Fire Spin of course powered through Solar Beam with little resistance, but as the flames roared towards Snorlax, he awoke. "To the side!" With a grunt, Snorlax rolled to the side, dodging Fire Spin. "Focus Punch!"

"Dragon Claw!"

Fists lit with energy, Snorlax ran towards Charizard, who stood stationary as it waited for him to approach. Charizard slashed his claw towards Snorlax, who slid to the side in the last moment, and punched Charizard. Charizard grunted at the force, halting for a heartbeat before collapsing.

"Charizard is unable to battle. With no other Pokemon, Max and Snorlax are the winners of the match!"

"Alright!" Max breathed a sigh of relief, leaping in joy as he cheered. Snorlax yawned thirdly, but waved at his trainer when the boy called to him. "You were awesome, Snorlax!" After his mini celebration, he returned the tired Pokemon, mentally planning to shower both his Pokemon in as much Pokeblock as they wanted.

Author's Comments: The reason these chaps took so long was because I wanted to post this chapter right after the last, but also more pokemon more battle, so you were waiting for two chapters. Not going to happen again, i just felt bad for how last chapter was.
