[Hogwarts]
[TPP]
Nate just returned to the castle from his Christmas Holidays.
He spent his holidays with his family. During his holiday Nate had pondered the question of the legacy project idea Dumbledore suggested. Nate held no delusions that the man suggested it to him, out of the goodness of his heart. The question was, to what goal did Dumbledore want him to take on a project that would take atleast a year of magical work. It would have taken longer if he wasn't capable of casting runes.
The answer came to him when he quite clearly when he backtracked to his conversation with the man. Both Nurmengard and Azakaban were fortresses redesigned as a prison. Their use originally was of a fortress.
Dumbledore did not want a legacy for myself but a prison and fortress for himself. The reason was that the man did not trust the guards of Azkaban to remain loyal when his rival for political power came back. The man was preparing for war by using me as a rook in it.
When Voldemort did come back, the man would request his protege, who would unfortunately be me to allow the use of whatever I was making. The man had suggested those places as a subtle idea of kind of wizarding monument would make me a legend.
The man was not only trying to set himself as a mentor to Nate but also actively making moves to make Nate join the war. Well knowing one of his greatest secrets, Nate really did not leave Dumbledore with many options.
Nate shrugged. He was sure by the end of his third or fourth year he could make something that would rival Hogwarts in terms of average strength. The question was whether Nate wanted to cut time from his studies of time?
Nate was pretty clear that he would be joining the progressive side in the war that would erupt. The question was how to go about it. He could kill Riddle in 1994.
But then Nate also realized, that would not help him in any way. Joining the progressives was the only logical move simply because Nate did not agree to any of what Voldemort propagated and him being mad was a bonus addition.
He was fine with Dumbledore playing such games because he could see the man and himself benefiting from such a move. The next question had been if he was making something, why make it a fortress.
Why not an island?
The idea was simple. He would raise an island from the sea using earth elemental magic. Then buy magical plants and trees that grow without much care. Then finally animals. This was where he was planning a piece of magic that would be considered illegal. A contracted obligation for all those that were physically on the island to provide magic for what Nate decided to call the central terminal. Why was it illegal? It required a blood sacrifice to become binding though if it became binding it would pass on through blood.
The central terminal would be used as a wardstone to not only hide the place and its general defenses but do it using self-learning enchantments for pseudo-sentience. The island in theory, would actively defend itself and all those registered within the terminal.
He was actually planning something of a sanctuary for animals like Unicorns, Dragons,Hippogriffs and a few species of magical snake.
He was planning on using spatial charms and warding to keep the beasts contained. This and the werewolf idea would take most of the time. Keeping them contained using their own magic was not that big of a problem. The main problem would be building a small town that could act like a hub for wizards and witches around the world. The anti-apparition and portkey wards would add Hogwarts level security to the place.
Finally, the idea sounded easier in theory but even the first step of raising a city from the sea would be a risky endeavour since any ministry, no matter how incompetent, keeps an eye on magical activity in there area of jurisdiction. Following that the area to choose the island from would be important. Raising the land suddenly would cause disruption to the sea life and also tsunamis if done incredibly fast. He would have to cast preliminary wards to avoid detection by the ministry in the first place.
The North sea was still his favourite location, even though it was cold, which could be resolved by weather charms. The other regions weren't just that properly located for Nate to take interest.
And with his decision made , Nate found himself in front of the entrance to the Headmaster's office.
He stated the password given to him ,"Acid pops."
The Gargoyle moved to allow Nate entry. He moved into to the Headmaster's office and heard,"Come in."
He walked in and saw Dumbledore in purple robes. The man was sitting on his chair and smiling at him as his eyes twinkled away, "Headmaster, I am happy to see you in good health."
"I am happy to see you too, my boy. I hope you enjoyed Christmas. The socks you sent me were a thoughtful gesture."
"Thank you for the box of candies as well sir." Nate smiled.
"I am sure you are here to tell me of your decision?"
"I will accept the project but I will tell you now that you will have no credit for this." Nate did not want the man meddling with the wards.
"Excellent idea my boy. It will be great for you. Now take this."
Dumbledore pushed a piece of paper towards Nate.
Nate picked it up and muttered, "Damn."
The piece of paper was allowed Nate to construct a house using magic.
Nate commented, "How did you get the ministry to sign off on this?"
Dumbledore stated, "You will find my boy that Cornellius is an easily flattered man."
"Cool thank you, Headmaster." Nate thanked the man genuinely because he liked the idea of the island he came up with becoming a reality.
