[Ildathach]
As he looked at the building that would become his seat of power, just like Hogwarts is to Albus Dumbledore, just like Nurmengard had been to Grindelwald, and just like Azkaban was to Ekrizdis.
His wand left the holster thanks to a simple wandless summoning charm. As he held his wand, he could hear his magic thrumming at its tip whispering in Nate's ear to let it loose, to show the world its power.
Nate for the first time let the magic flood freely, not just through his wand, but through his whole body.
"Nate." came the sightly wary voice of Miach, yet Nate disregarded it as he flourished his wand.
The pile of rocks started fusing. It took only a second for it to fuse showing the amount of power Nate had pushed in the earth element spell.
He waved his wand again and the outer wall of the newly constructed tower gained a polish look.
The tower that had been nothing more than a pile of rocks now looked like a menacing black circular tower that could last a thousand years.
" Legacy." Miach's voice sounded.
" One that will last a thousand years." Nate did not take off his eyes from his creation.
He slowly walked to one part of the wall. He waved his hand and two stone doors long enough for a giant to pass through appeared. They had an intricate pattern on both the doors, one of them having the carvings of the Deathly Hallows and the Dara knot appeared on the left door, while the right door had a carving of Mist curled around his aspen and beech wand and a poem in English.
Nate waved his wand again, enchanting the carvings to be attention-drawing and to glow in silver light every twelve hours.
"The left symbolizes your ambition to unite the hallows and master death. It also symbolizes your ambition to master time, that which has no beginning and no end.
The right symbolizes your humanity. Your house words- ' And, you will be mine,' it was changed from the original one by your grandfather."
Nate did not reply to the spirit's words. He just walked inside the tower. It was empty and there was no division between the floors.
He used another earth element spell and saw the effects immediately. The tower now had a total of five floors. With another wave of his wand, the middle three floors were divided into five rooms equally. The ground floor was divided into a smaller room for the staircase and a larger hall that was connected to the main entrance.
Nate then cast the strongest spatial expansion charm that he could. The effects were immediate, the hall that had been smaller than the great hall of Hogwarts was now larger than it.
Turning back, he started casting runes on the stone doors he had constructed. Runes of protection. After he thought it was enough, he anchored an enchantment on the door that would allow specific people to open it.
"Doesn't this place look empty?" Miach murmured looking around the hall Nate had made.
Nate waved his wand again and the hall started shifting around. Two thrones made out of stone appeared opposite to the entrance, raised above the ground, one would have to walk the small staircase to sit upon them. The left one had a sword embedded in the ground while the right one had an illustration of a tree.
"A throne? How humble of you, Nate. Playing king now, are we? " Miach said in amusement.
"I have no wish to become a king, these just felt right at that moment," Nate spoke for the first time. He started walking towards the throne that had the sword in the stone.
Miach smiled mischievously, "And who is the second throne for?"
Nate smiled brightly, "No idea." as he started climbing the stairs.
"Interesting times are ahead, master. Let us see where they lead."
"To an interesting place, is where I assume. Legends will be written in the coming years, Miach, of the defeat of a monster, of a chosen one and above all, of the one who mastered death."
"They will be." Miach nodded looking at the boy who had created him.
Nate Alexander-Irene Grey, one of the strongest wizards alive, Miach had known his master was strong, but the steel in his voice as he said those words filled the spirit of Ildathach with confidence. He knew that if there was a man that could defeat death, it was his creator.
" Meus Eris." Nate looked at the empty throne to his right as he took a seat on the throne he had crafted.
[Grey Manor, Scotland.]
[31stAugust, 1991.]
Nate's work in Ildathach had progressed smoothly, throughout the summer he had enchanted, fused, warded and planned the residential areas of Ildathach.
The town he had constructed had a total of four towers. Each of these towers Nate designated for a varying purpose. There was the Tower of Libraries. A place that would hold books and information in an organised format. The other tower was the Tower of War, a place to duel and train for fights for the residents. The Tower of Crafting was for those wishing to learn and practice crafting, enchanting, potioneering, warding, etc. The Tower of Night would be used for Astronomy, Engineering, Transfiguration and Alchemy.
All of these towers were empty still, with five floors each, but Nate knew that within two years, he would have them starting to fill out.
It was the last day of his Third year summer holiday and he was currently playing chess with his grandfather.
He had won the last match and they were about to begin the next one.
"You seem to be deep in thought, rude-boy. Don't let a victory get to your head." Nate felt the legilimency probe that hit his head and employed occlumency immediately. He also returned a legilimency probe of his own.
" Pawn to E4", the white pawn moved to E4.
"Are you prepared for tomorrow? Pawn to E5" William asked. The probe vanished as fast as it had come. His pawn moves in front of the white pawn.
"I am. Knight to F3." The knight moved to the square by jumping over the pawns.
"Remember what I told you. About all the people you have to greet. Pawn to D6."
"Daphne Greengrass is to be helped wherever I can. Cyrus has been a good friend to the family. Pawn to D4."
"And? Bishop to G4."
"Neville Longbottom, Susan Bones, Harry Potter, Ronald Weasley. These are the people I have to be polite to, at the very least because if their parents are an example to go by they probably are good people. Pawn to E5."
The white pawn stabbed the black pawn shattering it immediately. The black pawn's remains disappeared.
"I don't think you got all the names. Bishop takes knight at F3" William said with a stern voice.
The bishop piece used its magic staff to knock the knight down from its horse and took its place as the white knight's remains faded the board.
"Draco Malfoy is a name I hoped you were not going to burden me with dealing. Queen takes bishop at F3."
"Think of it as doing me a favour, Nate. Pawn takes pawn at E5."
" Bishop to C4. I still can't see what you see in that traitorous family. Narcissa Malfoy is not a friend of this family, she literally sent you to your death with that letter. I do not see the Malfoys as anything but an enemy."
Nate's statement was met with a sudden silence and the game continued quietly. Nate knew this was a moment of weakness on his grandfather's part. He couldn't let go of the fact that the trainee healer, he had adored as a daughter was now the wife of a murdering boot-licker.
' This is the perfect moment to send a probe.' was one of the thoughts inside his head, yet he did not send a probe, allowing his grandfather a moment of peace.
It was a couple of moves later that his grandfather spoke again, "The Black Sisters is what they were called at Hogwarts, Andromeda, Bellatrix, and Narcissa. All three of them were very similar in both appearance and temperament. All three of them had different fates, Nate.
Each of them lost a lot during the war, Bellatrix had always been a lost cause. Andromeda made great choices and I am proud of them. Narcissa never had the choice Nate, Cygnus married her to Lucius Malfoy and I have rued the day that I allowed it to happen because she agreed to the match under Druella's pressure. She was never offered the choice nor was her opinion taken into account.
The only reason I had even associated with the Blacks after marrying Veronica was because of Andromeda, Narcissa and Arcturus. So when I say that you keep an eye on the boy, I ask you to understand that his mother is one of my greatest regrets."
' Now, this was just emotional manipulation.' despite his thoughts, Nate nodded and said, " Rook to D8. Check and Mate. I will keep an eye on the boy, but don't expect me to look after him."
