Chapter 2: Museum Heist

In Gotham City, it seemed like any other night where citizens were out and about and looking for a good time. But at the same time, the criminal element of the city that had long plagued it was starting to come out to play. Criminal activity has really gone down since the deaths of both the Joker and Two-Face, but as always, it is still always present. Our story is currently about to take place at the Gotham Museum of Natural History where an ancient 600-year-old mask made entirely of gold that was used by the ancient Incas is currently on display for the public during the day and is being watched over at night for thieves who might want to steal it. The two nightguards were doing their final sweeps through the place where everything seemed to be nice, quiet, and free of intruders. Both guards met back in front of a large T-rex fossil to give each other updates on their checks through the museum. "Everything seem good, Frank?", the guard asked his buddy. "Looks that way. How about you?", Frank the guard asked. "All good on my end.", the other guard said. "Great! That means we can just chill for the rest of the night. We can probably still catch the game in the office.", Frank said. As they were about to walk away together, one of the guards became incapacitated suddenly by a thick, gooey, sticky, white substance. The guard fell on the floor while his screaming was muffled by the stuff he was trapped in. Frank turned around and was surprised to see what had become of his friend. "My God! Steve! What happened to you?!", Frank asked in shock. Out of nowhere, the same thing happened to the other guard when another blast of the stuff trapped him. Frank fell on the floor alongside Steve and also could not move no matter how hard they both tried. Then out of the shadows came their assailant, who was none other than Drury Walker, otherwise known as Killer Moth. He was dressed in his usual getup which was a purple suit with fur coating around the sleeves and neckline, purple and yellow striped leggings, brown boots and gloves, a leathery belt that held some of his arsenal, an insect-shaped helmet, and a set of orange wings that allowed him to fly. He was able to secure the two guards with his cocoon gun that he built himself and was his signature weapon. He at first started off as like an anti-Batman meaning he originally wanted to protect criminals and help them get away from the GCPD in hopes that they share some of the stolen goods with him as opposed to Batman who helps the cops put the bad guys away and keeps the city safe. That didn't last too long after he was put away for the first time by Batman and Batgirl and he became well-known for being the first villain to be defeated by Batgirl. He then decided to work only for himself and tried his best to get as much stolen goods and treasures as possible so he can live the good life for criminals. However, most of the city's underworld treated him as more of a joke and barely a threat compared to other villains in the city and that always infuriated the colorful criminal. In the present, Killer Moth stood over the two cocooned guards with a smile under his helmet. "Looks like you guys got yourselves into quite the sticky situation!", he said. "I know that was a bad joke, but I really don't care. What I do care about is me getting that golden mask that's on display in the other room which is gonna make me rich!", he said as he used his wings to fly into the next room. The guards squirmed to break free, but it was no use and their cries were muffled by the cocoon-like substance. The villain was now in the room where the mask was and looked down at it from being in midair. He flew down in front of the glass case and admired the ancient artifact and its details. "Those Incas really knew how to sculpt things out of solid gold. Now their handiwork is going to make me one hell of a mint!", he said to himself. He used his gun to smash open the glass and then grabbed the mask. "Going somewhere, Bugboy?", came a youthful-sounding voice from above where Moth was. Moth looked up and saw Robin, the Boy Wonder looking down at him from a window which was slightly open. Or at least one of the people who have taken on the mantle of Robin. The current and fourth Robin was Damian Wayne, son of Bruce Wayne who is also the great Batman. "How the hell did you know I would strike here, you little brat? I know the alarm didn't go off!", Moth said in shock as he saw the hero. "I was doing a patrol of the city when I happened to see you flying around, so I followed you right here.", Robin explained. "Well, you're not going to stop me from taking this!", Moth said angrily as he fired his cocoon gun at Robin. Robin quickly dodged the blast and threw some shurikens at the villain. Moth flew up into the air to dodge them. "You missed, Birdboy!", Moth said. "You know, I would've preferred some who could present more of a challenge like Catwoman, or even that other thief, Magpie. Hell, even the Ratcatcher who has an army of rats at his command would give a better fight than you. All you have is a set of wings and a stupid cocoon gun. Freeze's freeze gun is also more badass than that. Come to think of it, who the hell chooses to dress like a moth anyway?", Robin said as he mocked Moth and his gimmick. All this taunting just angered the villain and really made him furious. "Shut up! I'll show you just how much of a threat I can be!", Moth yelled as he kept firing cocoon blasts at Robin. Robin kept easily dodging the blasts. After a while of blasting and dodging, Robin said, "This is really getting boring! Time to put a stop to this!". He threw another shuriken at Moth's gun and it got knocked out of his hand. The shuriken apparently broke the cocoon gun and what was left of it laid on the floor. "My gun! You broke my gun!", Moth said in disbelief as he stared at his broken invention. Robin then used his batclaw to grab the golden mask out of the villain's other hand while he was distracted. Moth couldn't stop the mask being yanked out of his hand and also was in disbelief at losing his prize too. Robin grabbed the mask and had a victorious smug on his face. Robin then threw another projectile at the alarm switch which made the alarm go off. It's over, Moth! The cops are gonna come now and you'll be quite a nice gift for them.", Robin said smugly. "This isn't over, you little shit! I'll get even with you, with your boss, and with everyone else who ever underestimated me!', Moth said angrily. He then attempted to fly out the window as a means to escape. Before Robin could stop him, he heard some weak muffled cries behind him. He turned to see the two cocooned guard trapped and seemed to be gasping for air as the stuff was suffocating them. Moth saw this and said, "What's it gonna be, Boy Wonder? Catch the bad guy or save the innocent civilians?". Robin shot Moth a dirty look as he knew the obvious answer was to save them. Robin turned his attention towards the guards who were finding it harder to breathe under the cocoons. Moth then flew out the window and successfully got away. Robin used his katana to cut the guards free. "Are you two alright?", Robin asked them. "Yeah. Thanks, kid. And thanks for saving the mask from getting stolen.", one of the guards said. "I just hate it how that creep got away.", Robin said to himself. Meanwhile, Killer Moth flew a decent distance away from the museum before he settled down in an alleyway. He then erupted into a fit of rage and began kicking garbage cans and cursing nonstop. "God damn that little brat! I could've pulled off an awesome robbery that could really turn my reputation in this town around. I maybe could've gotten some fucking respect if things went according to plan! But once again, my attempts at the big score are ruined because of either Batman or his little helpers! I hope they all die and rot in Hell! The same goes for all the others who think I'm nothing more than a joke! I swear I'll show them all just how much a threat I can be!", Moth yelled. He then looked at the ground and saw a pink light shining from the corner of a dumpster. "What the hell is this?", he said as he bent down and picked up what was illuminating the shadows. He held in his gloved fingertips a bright pink crystal that he thought might be valuable. "Maybe tonight isn't a total loss after all. This crystal looks like it might be worth something. Looks like a moth like me being drawn to light is a good thing after all.", he said to himself. Unbeknownst to him, it wasn't just any ordinary crystal, it was a magic crystal from the Crystal Dimension that allowed teleportation between different worlds and realities. And that magic began to take effect as the crystal began to glow even brighter to the point that Moth dropped it due to how blinding the light was. The crystal then opened up a portal which freaked out the villain. "To Hell with this shit! I'm outta here!", he said as he began to fly away. Unfortunately, the jetpack that his wings were attached to was now out of fuel and Moth didn't get very far in the air when it ran out. "Oh, fuck!", he said as gravity took effect and Moth started to fall right into the portal. Once he was through, the portal closed up and Killer Moth would end up in a different and I should say, mathematical world.
