"Now, with the posse a bit leveled up, I think we might be able to take on Kleavor soon," Lego said to Akari and Rei as they walked back to where they set up their camp, which was the grounds of Lord Wyrdeer. Needless to say, Lego was feeling pretty good.
"So… my Geodude should be of some help to us, right?" Rei asked Lego, who he and Akari were coming to understand as a Pokemon Guru of sorts. That's what he appeared to be like.
"A full party of Pokemon would be a lot of help, yes," Lego said. "But at the same time, don't only use Pokemon of the same type, cuz that can screw you over. Having a diverse team like you two currently have, although they consist of two Pokemon each, is more than ideal." Lego looked at them while walking backwards since he was in front of them. "But that also depends on how you want your teams to be, and their purpose as well." Stopping and moving towards his Pokemon. "FOR INSTANCE!" Lego patted Aqua on the head and kneeled down beside him, still looking at Rei and Akari. "Dewott here is a pure Water-Type, meaning he has no other typing and has simple straight-forward weaknesses to Grass and Electric-Type moves! But with Beek here," Lego went to his named Cyndaquil and picked her up, "that Grass weakness is now gone! Plus, I'm pretty sure that Beek's final evolution Typhlosion can learn a Ground-Type move to counter Electric-Type moves, so those weaknesses are countered once certain moves are learned."
Putting Beek down, Lego then said, "This applies to my entire team. They each play their roles in terms of battles, with each covering the weaknesses of another."
"Huh, I… see," Rei said.
"But then what about Pokemon with two typings?" Akari asked Lego. "Wouldn't that make things easier for some of them?"
"Yes and no, because that in turn can create more weaknesses for the 'mons in question," Lego said. "Hell, Stone Cold is four times weak to Water-Type moves because he's a Rock/Ground-Type. Likewise, a Bug/Grass-Type would be four times weak to Fire-Type moves, and a Water/Flying-Type would be four times weak to Electric-Type moves."
"You know a lot," Akari commented.
"Pokemon Battling is fun," Lego said. "The only problem I actually have is the fact I never got to visit Johto, or revisit Unova so I could learn about those regions. But, I digress."
After a few more minutes of traveling, the trio and their Pokemon (though Lego's were the only ones out) spotted several carts that were packed with supplies, as well as a few dozen people. About half of them bore the Diamond Clan symbol on their clothes, as well as their carts, while the rest looked like they belonged to the Security Corps from the G.E.T., which surprised the group.
"Ayo, what the hell is happening?" Lego questioned, surprised by how many people there were.
"I can't tell if there is a trade going on, or what," Rei said. "And why out here next to the grounds of the Noble Pokemon Wyrdeer?" It was at that that Lego remembered and realized what might happen.
In the games, there was a camp set up at the grounds of Lord Wyrdeer, which could potentially be what's happening now. But what really threw him off was the fact that there were dozens of people and carts in this one location. It was so out of place, and Lego didn't know whether to attest it to logic or what is seen behind the scenes in the games.
As they got closer, they actually saw a few familiar faces.
"So, if it's alright with you, we would wish to establish a camp around here for the sake of making the journey easier for the Galaxy Expedition Team, as well as the Diamond and Pearl Clans," Professor Laventon said to the leader of the Diamond Clan, Adaman, who was standing in front of the entry point to Wyrdeer's Sacred Grounds.
Adaman was deep in thought as he contemplated what Laventon was requesting, when Lego, Akari and Rei walked up to them. "Yo, what is up my dudes?" Lego said as he patted his chest twice before making peace signs with his hands.
This actually drew a laugh out of Adaman, who smiled upon seeing Lego. "Well, if it isn't the one sent by Almighty Sinnoh!" Adaman said. "Nice to see you're still in the area! I came out here to check up on Mai and she said that you were in the area, training your Pokemon to help resolve the issue with the Pearl Clan's Lord Kleavor." He walked up to Lego and patted him on the back. "I also appreciate how you dealt with the Alpha Pokemon that was disturbing our Lord's Grounds. You have the Diamond Clan's gratitude!"
"It's nothing, really," Lego said. "Anyways, what seems to be up right now? You two looked like you were discussing something."
"Per Kamado's request, he asked that I come out here to study some of the Pokemon, and if possible establish a second camp in the Obsidian Fieldlands," Professor Laventon said to Lego, explaining his part of the story. "I saw the Diamond Clan was in the area, so I was hoping that we might be able to set up a camp close to their Lord Wyrdeer's grounds, and maybe by proximity be able to receive protection from it since it'd be in the area."
"Right," Adaman said, as he remembered what he was contemplating. "Now, while that does sound beneficial to us all, I would have to take that up with the Noble Pokemon in question, and then also prepare an offering for it too…"
Lego sighed and rolled his eyes as a result. "Alright, what do I need to do?" Everyone looked at him.
"For real, you are seriously a gift from Almighty Sinnoh," Adaman said. "I was gonna ask you to come help me bargain with Lord Wyrdeer."
"Knew it," Lego said with a deadpan expression. "What I gotta do?"
"I was actually hoping you would just stand next to me when I make the offering," Adaman told Lego. "It's just going to take a few minutes." This surprised Lego. He expected to have to go find something, like more mushrooms. He was relieved that wasn't the case.
"Alrighty then, let's get this going," Lego said. Adaman smiled at that.
Professor Laventon looked at Lego and bowed slightly. "Thank you for helping out!" The Professor said to Lego.
"No prob," Lego replied.
Adaman went through one of the Diamond Clan's carts and got some Hearty Grains. "One of the natural items that Lord Wyrdeer loves are these Hearty Grains. We actually grow a good portion of these at our settlement in the Crimson Mirelands. Growing these over there yields a flavor that it seems to enjoy a lot more than the ones grown around here."
Lego raised an eyebrow at that. "That's interesting. Wonder if it has to do with the climate and positioning of the sun." Lego then looked up at the sky, and then looked back down after getting blinded by the sun. "Bad mistake."
This drew a couple of laughs from Adaman and Professor Laventon, but also a laugh from Rei and a giggle from Akari. "Oh, I can't wait to introduce you to the Diamond Clan," Adaman said, with an amused smile on his face. After getting the offering ready, Adaman, Lego, and Lego's Pokemon (Aqua, Beek, Talon, Velocity, Kyoka, and Stone Cold were his current party of six) went to make an offering to Wyrdeer.
Mai was talking to a member of the Diamond Clan, when she saw Lego and Adaman. "Oh, Adaman!" Adaman waved as he approached her with Lego. The other member of the Diamond Clan walked away holding a bundle of food that was meant to be supplies for Mai. Mai noticed the grains that Adaman held, and already deduced an offering was going to be made. "Offering time?"
"Yep," Adaman said. "And Lego here is also participating in making the offering." Pointing a thumb at Lego, Adaman added, "I was actually hoping Lego would make it to Lord Wyrdeer."
Lego looked at Adaman. "I'm not too sure I should be the one doing it. I mean… I'm an outsider- hell, I'm not even from this world!"
"Which is why I want you to make it," Adaman said. "So that our Lord would take a bit more of a shine to you, especially since you got that Alpha Kricketune out of our Lord's Sacred Grounds."
"He basically wants you to represent the Galaxy Expedition Team," Mai told Lego.
Lego merely nodded at that. He didn't see an issue with that. It was sound reasoning after all. "Alright, guess I'm making the offering."
"Okay!" Adaman said. "Now, all you gotta do is call forth Lord Wyrdeer. Afterwards, you have to state your request, and then if the orbs on our Lord's horns glow, he accepts."
"And if they don't glow?" Lego asked.
"Then you're kinda out of luck," Adaman responded as he rubbed the back of his head with a small smile on his face.
"Shit," Lego said under his breath.
With the Hearty Grains in his hands, Lego was standing in the middle of the Wyrdeer's Sacred Grounds. Adaman and Mai were behind him. Lego's Pokemon were standing by his side though (Beek, Aqua and Talon on his left, and Velocity, Kyoka who was laying down, and Stone Cold who had received healing on his right). Lego took a deep breath and closed his eyes. 'I wish to set up a camp for the Galaxy Expedition Team around here, and for it to have your protection,' Lego thought to himself, rehearsing what he'd say to Lord Wyrdeer once he appeared.
"Lord Wyrdeer!" Lego called out, summoning the Noble Pokemon in question.
After a few seconds, there was the neighing of Wyrdeer from the top of the stone ridge overlooking the Sacred Grounds, before he jumped and began floating down to Lego, having heard of his summons.
Upon Wyrdeer's landing, Lego got down on a knee and with the grains in his hands showed Wyrdeer the grains. It sniffed at them, before eating them from Lego's hands. Lego was silent the entire time until it finished eating the grains. The Noble let out a satisfied sigh, approving of the offering.
Lego let out a breath of relief. "I wish-"
Lego was interrupted by more neighing from Wyrdeer, which caused him to look up at Wyrdeer. Did he do something wrong?
But then he saw it. There was fire in its eyes.
It wanted to fight.
"Please tell me that Wyrdeer wanting to fight is a joke," Lego said, a bit nervous, with Adaman and Mai both noticing it as well.
"Nope, he's serious," Mai said.
"Son of a-" Lego took a deep breath. "...okay. I… I guess I'm fighting Wyrdeer." He stood up. He took another deep breath. He took a few steps back. "Kyoka… it's your turn to battle." Kyoka yawned at that, not getting up. Lego sighed. "Goddamnit…"
Wyrdeer neighed as it got ready to attack.
"Kyoka, Wyrdeer is about to attack you," Lego said to his Alpha Shinx, giving her a nudge, from which all he got was some growling from her. "...fine." Lego took a few steps back so he wouldn't be in harm's way. He crossed his arms and sighed. "...Wyrdeer, use Psyshield Bash."
The command shocked Mai and Adaman, and while it surprised Wyrdeer for a moment, he could tell what Lego was after, giving orders to a Noble such as him. With a translucent pink shield that surrounded its body appearing, Wyrdeer leaped forward and tackled Kyoka, surprising the named Shinx, as well as angering her.
As Shinx rolled away from Wyrdeer due to its attack, Lego hummed in a sad and disappointed tone. Mai looked at Lego with an unapproving look. "Do tell me why you're giving Lord Wyrdeer orders?" Mai asked with a hint of hostility in her voice.
"I would prefer it if my Shinx could still battle," Lego said to Mai, before giving her a glare. There was an audible crack! as a crack formed in his mask, which unsettled Mai as she took a step back. "Your Lord wanted to fight, so that's what I want to give him. But I can't give him a fight, if the one Pokemon that can actually do something to him is being as stubborn as a mule." Lego turned so his body faced her as he said, "I don't like it either, but discipline is needed. And your Lord is clearly alright with helping as well."
Turning his attention to Kyoka, who was now standing up after the rude awakening it had from that one attack from Wyrdeer. "Are you going to listen now, or do you wish to continue being thrashed?" Lego asked his Shinx. Kyoka turned and growled at him, sparks of electricity coming off of her. "Your opponent is behind you."
Kyoka was about to open her mouth to speak, or growl in her case, when she was suddenly picked up off of the ground by Wyrdeer, who was using Psychic. He then threw her to the side, dealing a chunk of damage to her.
As Kyoka stood back up while growling, she glared at Wyrdeer, who maintained his stoic and elegant blank expression. "What are you waiting for?!" Lego said to Kyoka. "Don't just stand there! Run up and use Bite! Get some damage in before you're unable to fight!"
"Grrrrrrraaaaaaah!" Kyoka snarled, a wave of dark energy traveling fast and hitting Wyrdeer, catching him off guard.
"Oh shit, she knows Snarl," Lego commented.
Kyoka's growling only continued, before she yelled towards the heavens, dust kicking up and surrounding her, the cracking of electricity being heard.
"Oh wow," Adaman said, surprised at what he was witnessing. "It would appear Lego's Shinx is evolving!"
"Can evolution be triggered by rage though?" Mai wondered aloud.
The group did not get any time to debate, as suddenly Kyoka shouted, "LUXIOOOOOOOOOO!" as the dust cleared, and had officially evolved into a Luxio. She then stared down Wyrdeer, before turning to glare at Lego, who had an amused expression on his face.
"Noice," Lego said.
Wyrdeer let out a neigh as he looked on at the newly evolved Luxio. She was growling and glaring at him, clearly still wanting to fight. Wyrdeer could probably let out some more of its power, since he was holding back after all.
"Kyoka!" Lego shouted, trying to get his Luxio's attention, to which he succeeded. As Kyoka looked at him, Lego said, "Are you ready to cooperate?"
"Lux!" Kyoka shouted back, training her eyes on Wyrdeer once more.
However, Lego doesn't speak Pokemon, so he didn't understand jack shit. "Alright!" Lego simply said. "Use Snarl and attack Wyrdeer!"
Kyoka snarled towards Wyrdeer, who attempted to jump up and dodge it, but Kyoka's roar ended up moving towards it and still hit Wyrdeer in midair. When the Noble Pokemon landed, Lego shouted, "Now use Bite!" Kyoka then ran forward and pounced on Wyrdeer, almost biting one of Wyrdeer's antlers.
Almost, as Wyrdeer used Psychic and caught Kyoka as she got close to him, before slamming her into the ground, and then throwing her away into some boulders.
"Kyoka, you alright?!" Lego called out towards his Luxio. His response was her getting out of the boulders and roaring, a discharge of electricity coming off of Kyoka. "Good! Now, use Quick Attack!" Kyoka then ran up to Wyrdeer and threw herself at the Noble Pokemon, scoring a decent blow. "Quickly follow up with Bite!" Lego shouted quickly upon seeing Kyoka's success. And biting Wyrdeer, Kyoka managed to accomplish as she bit one of Wyrdeer's legs.
In retaliation, Wyrdeer then proceeded to trample Kyoka while she continued biting him. This attack was Bulldoze, a Ground-Type move that was super effective against Kyoka, an Electric-Type. Kyoka had to let go due to the pain. Wyrdeer jumped away, awaiting Kyoka's next move.
"Can you still stand?" Lego asked Kyoka. If she couldn't, he would call her back and end this. He didn't know how HP would work in this hyper-realistic world that he knew wasn't technically real (that would be the viewpoint of someone who did isekai into a world that they knew was fictional), so he was literally making a bunch of assumptions, like this was the Pokemon anime.
Luckily, or maybe unfortunately, Kyoka stood back up, but it was clear to everyone she was tired. Wyrdeer was barely damaged at best, and could probably take on four of the Alpha Luxio in a fight at once.
"Shit," Lego said, knowing that Kyoka might end up fainting soon due to how much of a lower level she was compared to Wyrdeer, though that's an assumption. Regardless, Wyrdeer could very much survive a lot more attacks than Kyoka currently could.
Kyoka ended up using Snarl towards Wyrdeer, with Wyrdeer taking the hit. Wyrdeer ended up closing his eyes for a few seconds, while Lego shouted, "Kyoka, be careful!" The Luxio merely growled as Wyrdeer opened his eyes.
"That's Lord Wyrdeer's Calm Mind," Mai said. Crossing her arms, she said to Adaman, "I believe this match will be over soon."
"Lego's Luxio… has a lot to work on," Adaman commented, with a slightly worried look on his face. "I'm not sure if he'll be able to defeat the Pearl Clan's Lord Kleavor with the level his Pokemon are at now…"
"Agreed," Mai said.
Lego scoffed. "Give it your all!" Lego said to Kyoka, trying to motivate her. "Use Bite!"
Kyoka began rushing towards Wyrdeer, ready to pounce and bite him. Acknowledging that this fight was over, Wyrdeer conjured a psychic barrier around himself, charging towards Kyoka.
And ultimately overpowered Kyoka's attack, throwing her back towards Lego, who caught her but was thrown to the ground as a result. "Shit… you alright?" Lego asked Kyoka, who was out of it.
Wyrdeer let out a bit of neighing, and got Lego's attention. Mai stepped forward. "I think you satisfied my Lord."
"Then can I please say what I was going to say before I was interrupted?" Lego said to Wyrdeer, who neighed some more. "I'll take that as a yes. I'm here on behalf of the Galaxy Expedition Team to ask if we could set up camp around the area and receive your protection, to make things easier for both the G.E.T., and the Diamond and Pearl Clans." Wyrdeer nodded, making Lego smile under his mask, whilst Adaman and Mai nodded. "Thank you…"
Wyrdeer neighed once more, which confused Lego, before walking towards Lego, and then shaking his (Wyrdeer's) beard before a plate fell out of it. Lego's eyes widened, as he knew exactly what he had just received.
"Hmm?" Mai walked over towards Lego and Wyrdeer, and saw the plate. "What's that?" She asked, confused.
"He just… gave it to me…" Lego said as he grabbed the plate, knowing full well it was the Mind Plate. It didn't do anything when he touched it, much to his disappointment. He wished he would get his powers back, but it would appear that was not going to be the case. He very well would likely have to 'beat the game' if he wanted to get his powers back.
That was the real end goal.
"I suppose Lord Wyrdeer has taken a shine to you," Mai told Lego, a bit amused and surprised.
"Perhaps Lord Wyrdeer understands how special Lego is, being sent from Almighty Sinnoh afterall!" Adaman said with a cheery grin.
"Well, I better go tell the Professor the news," Lego said as he pulled out Kyoka's Pokeball, and returned her to it. She was out cold, and would need treatment. Convenient considering how they were about to set up a camp for the G.E.T.
Later into the night as the camp was mostly set up, Lego was eating dinner alongside his Pokemon, as well as Rei and Akari. It would appear that talk had begun amongst their fellow members of the G.E.T., as they could hear the other members discussing things mainly about them.
"Apparently Lego's the most popular topic to talk about," Akari told Rei as the group ate dinner.
"Really?" Rei asked his girlfriend.
"Mhm," Akari confirmed. "I think it's because of how he caught not just one, but two Alpha Pokemon, and then had a battle against the Diamond Clan's Lord Wyrdeer."
Rei looked at Lego, who seemed to be deep in thought and also had his mask over his eyes so he could eat his food, while his Pokemon ate and played around him. Although Lego had six on hand, only five of them were out since Kyoka needed time to rest after literally getting thrashed by Wyrdeer. This in turn was actually what Rei and Akari thought he was thinking about, and not the plate he obtained from Wyrdeer, which was what occupied his mind currently.
"There you three are," Mai said as Rei and Akari turned to look at the Diamond Clan Warden, who was accompanied by her Munchlax. "I was hoping to speak with you three."
"About what? Is something wrong?" Rei asked Mai, while Lego continued to remain deep in thought.
"Actually, no. I was simply hoping to give you three this," Mai said, before pulling out a flute. "Adaman wanted to give you three this, in hopes that it might be of use and assistance in the future during your journey. He's predicting that you three are going to need it."
"What… is it?" Akari asked.
"This is the Celestica Flute," Mai explained. "We Wardens use this to call upon the Noble Pokemon we care for, mainly so we could ask for their assistance with a task when we are not at their Sacred Grounds. Adaman figured that you might have some difficulty reaching the Grandtree Arena, and might need to call upon Lord Wyrdeer to receive his aid."
"That does sound helpful!" Akari told Mai, a bit excited by the idea of being able to call upon the Noble Pokemon to receive his aid.
"Lego made quite the impression on Lord Wyrdeer, so Adaman figured my Lord would want to lend you his aid for future endeavors," Mai said. "The only thing I believe he will not help with is battling any Pokemon who oppose you all unless needed to." Looking at Lego, she said, "Especially with you there Lego."
Lego then raised his head, after a moment, realized Mai was present. "...oh, hi Mai," Lego said, lowering his mask so he could see her. "...sorry, but I don't think I caught what you all were discussing." He looked at Rei and Akari, and asked, "Were you all discussing something?"
The three merely gave awkward chuckles. Mai coughed, and said, "Well… since he didn't hear anything, would you two mind filling him in later?"
"Yeah, I can do it," Akari said. "And I'll hold onto the flute as well, since I doubt Lego will be able to play it since he never takes off that mask of his, and he likely can't see when he has it over his eyes."
"Fair enough. Before you all set off in the morning, if you do, come to my Lord's grounds and I'll teach you the melody you need to play," Mai said to Akari, who nodded. Lego then understood what was happening. Because he had received the Mind Plate and wore a mask (which he actually could see through, believe it or not), Akari was getting the flute to call upon the Noble Pokemon.
'It's a shame Rei isn't getting any exciting role, but I'm sure he's fine,' Lego thought to himself. He looked up at the night sky. '...we have a long journey ahead of us…' And to be honest… he wasn't prepared at all.
But when has he ever been prepared?
This chapter took over a month to make, which it really shouldn't have. But honestly, I've been procrastinating way too much. No excuses, so I'll try to be quicker with the chapters, and make sure they have good quality.
To recap the chapter:
OC Lego explains Type Advantages, he also helps set up the camp at the ground of Lord Wyrdeer, battles Wyrdeer with Kyoka who evolves into Luxio halfway through and still loses, and receives the Mind Plate from Wyrdeer. Then later that night, Akari gets the Celestica Flute from Mai so they can call upon Wyrdeer during the journey, while Rei is left with nothing.
I may not plan the whole story out like I reasonably should, but I do know what I wish to accomplish and also get done. So there is at least one event I can guarantee will happen in the next chapter.
Stay tuned, and maybe expect to wait a while once again.
