SCP#: AAK
Code Name: The Isopod Plague
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: Remaining instances of SCP-AAK is contained in an aquatic pool at site-AA. The tank is 9x9 inches wide and is 10 meters deep. the water level in SCP-AAK's pool is never to go any higher than 2 meters as going higher will allow SCP-AAK a better chance to escape. A single live pig is thrown into the tank for SCP-AAK to feed. this process is only repeated once per week to prevent SCP-AAK from swarming into an uncontrollable population. smaller and weaker animals have yielded insufficient results and require SCP-AAK to be feed more often. The walls that make up the upper 2 meters of the pool are electrified to prevent the stronger SCP-AAK instances from escaping. Foundation staff that feed SCP-AAK are encouraged to throw the pigs at the wall to incapacitate and weaken the pig. Hopefully killing the pig quickly but also ensuring SCP-AAK instances don't gain strength while feeding.
The pool is cleaned by a vacuum drone to prevent algae and mold growth in the water and tank walls. pig remains do not need to be removed as SCP-AAK instances tend to eat even the bones when hungry enough.
Description: SCP-AAK is a mutant variant of the parasitic Isopod (Cymothoa exigua). Normal variants of the parasite eat only the tongues and insides of fish. However, SCP-AAK Instances were mutated by experimental steroids poured into the water of [data expunged] causing mutations to the local aquatic life. Due to the fish being their main food supply the Isopods mutated and thus became larger and more violent, resulting in instances of SCP-AAK. following their increased size and hunger, they wiped out the local aquatic life and during a local food eating coopetition at the local fair in [data expunged], [data expunged]. with all the fish dead and consumed SCP-AAK moved on the local population as a food source. In no less than a single day the entire human population was wiped out in a bloody violent massacre.
SCP-AAK instances have an insatiable hunger for meat and will infect any living organism they come across in order to eat them. Additionally, SCP-AAK instances have microscopic eggs and prefer to coat them all over their bodies. SCP-AAK prefers to do this so when it tries but fails to enter the mouth of a host its eggs will still succeed by entering the host.
key signs of infection by SCP-AAK include abnormally large rashes across the body, swelling bumps, internal bleeding, intense skin sensitivity, and weakened immune system this quickly follows with even worse symptoms being loss of tongue, loss of esophagus, intense bleeding, loss of reasoning, and body paralysis; ultimately leading to death. Bear in mind this is infection with SCP-AAK instances only after they have hatched from eggs inside the host. SCP-AAK instances that have already reached adulthood will tear their way into and out of a host while laying eggs inside the host thus not only speeding up infection but resulting in a more painful death.
Testing has shown that SCP-AAK eggs are extremally adaptive to whatever their host is, meaning that if SCP-AAK was to be introduced to other stronger and more resilient species SCP-AAK instances will grow bigger and stronger than before to adapt to the new hosts. The longest it has taken for an SCP-AAK instance to reach adulthood is 6 hours.
SCP-AAK was discovered at [data expunged], [data expunged] after the locals reported to the CDC for assistance with a possible new pathogen plaguing the town only for the entire town to go radio silent by the end of the day. The Foundation blocked off all roads to the town and told the media that chemicals contaminated the water and killed off the town's population as a cover up. afterwards the Foundation deployed a quick clean-up and retrieval crew to find, contain, and quickly cover up any anomalous activity in the area. As well as search for survivors.
However, an hour later no contact was established with the clean-up and retrieval crew. After another hour passed the only message that was received form the clean-up and retrieval crew was "blood", "white bugs", and "their everywhere!". in response Lambda-12 was deployed equipped with anti-insect biohazard ventilation suits and armed with Foundation standard rifles as well as necrosis pesticide spray guns.
After five hours of being deployed Lambda-12 forces were able to round up the remaining SCP-AAK instances and contain them in a biohazard metal case. There were no issues following SCP-AAK's transport to Site-AA and containment. However, the original clean-up crew was killed by SCP-AAK.
Survivors were later found to have escaped the town and were trying to get the word out. All survivors were captured by the Foundation and given class C amnestics before they could release the evidence. All recordings were destroyed, and all bodies were destroyed by acid to destroy all evidence. Due to the quick reproduction and destructive nature of SCP-AAK was originally to be labeled as Object Class Keter. However, SCP-AAK instances are surprisingly easy to kill and when not introduced to a new food supply they are easy to contain, thus granting them the Safe Object Class. As well as its transportation to Site-AA rather than Site-AC. A request by Dr. Wicked has been made to have SCP-AAK kill SCP-682 along with other dangerous and organic SCP's. Denial or acceptance of the request is still pending.
