Author's note: New chapter just as you wished, fellow readers. Sorry that it took so long. Have no fear, my goal is to complete this story.
Let's continue on. I don't own anything here.
Chapter thirteen: Two more down, One to Go.
The group went back to Evy's department after what they just heard from Terrance and Ardeth, and were discussing matters on how to stop Imhotep from being fully regenerated. Though Serena went into the bedroom alone for some time to think. She knew that time was running out, but she couldn't sake off the feeling of how the Medjai knew about her being the Princess of the Moon or about the Silver Crystal. It doesn't make any sense at all.
"Not a single book or history or whatever about my previous life or what happened 1,000 years, me and my friends were supposed to be the only ones to know, and yet the Medjai guys know about the Silver Crystal." Serena thought to herself, deeply concerned. "What's going on?"
She looked to the ceiling, and whispered to someone even if they couldn't hear, "Sceptile, is my past really that noticable? Or is it just simple knowlage?"
Suddenly, glitter of light appeared next to her near the bed, and an illusion form of the Pokemon she secretly teamed up with appeared via his necklace which glowed from where he was. Serena noticed the alternate-future Pokemon's appearence and glanced at him.
"It's true that your previous life is unheard of." said Sceptile. "However, I've discovered that there were descents of the people who survived the calamity that claimed your kingdom of the Moon. Some of those people who are the successors of their people of the past, I believe are the Medjai."
"Even after what happened here in Egypt 3,000 years ago?" Serena asked, puzzled. "How does that work?" she added, dumbfounded. Sometimes the Pokemon who assigned her to be the new Cardcaptor to fight the Shadow Souls and search for the Relic Book can say confusing things.
Sceptile continued, "If I'm understanding correctly, the people in the past probably agreed it was better off the knowlage of the Kingdom here on Earth and your Kingdom of the Moon remained a secret, and the Medjai were the only ones to know of the past, your history passed down to them for generations, along with the knowlage of Imhotep's crimes. I'm afraid the latter was more easier to discover and research and possibly more believable."
Serena thought about it, and figured that it made some sort of sense. "Which means that they somehow learned about the Silver Crystal too." she summed up.
"But, I have no idea on how they would know about the Silver Crystal. I'm afraid you'll have to get answers out of those men while focus on stopping Imhotep." Sceptile admitted, then said, "I can't help you this time, Serena, since I'm still in America looking for clues on the Relic Book's pressence, and preventing the Shadow Souls until you get back."
"Doing all this is definately not easy." Serena grumbled with a sweatdrop.
Suddenly there was a knock on the door, and Serena and Sceptile both flinched, the latter telling the Pokemon to quickly go before they are found out about their mission, and Sceptile did as he was told, his illusional state fading away, while Serena quickly sat on the bed, pretending that nothing happened. The door opened, and Darien walked in, approaching his girlfriend.
"Serena, what were you doing?" Darien asked.
"J-just talking myself." Serena lied, acting innocent with a sweatdrop.
"What were you thinking about?" asked Darien who sat down next to the one he would on day marry.
Serena sighed, both in sadness and in silent relief, and answered, "I was just thinking about how those two guys who told us about that Mummy know about the Silver Crystal. It just doesn't make any sense." though she knew that it made some sort of sense now that Sceptile had told her about some history of the people on Earth. But she didn't say this. She made a promise to Sceptile, and she had to do her best to keep that promise, even though it ached her heart that she couldn't even tell the rest of the Sailor Team or even Darien about this.
She then looked at her boyfriend and asked, "Darien, what do you think about this?"
Darien sighed. He should've known Serena would ask him something like this. He then answered, "Serena, I wish I knew the answer, but maybe the reason why nobody else knows about our lives is because there are few people like us who didn't want anyone to know."
"Didn't want anyone to know?" Serena repeated, before becoming emotional with another thought and said, "Are you saying that you didn't want me to know that you were coming here and didn't answer my phone calls?"
Darien flinched in fright at this, hoping that Serena wasn't thinking what he thought she was thinking. Turns out he was right, because Serena continued, "Is it because that I'm nagging you to come to me and wanted to ignore me for your own future?" before she broke down into tears, causing him to panic and stand up.
"No, no! Serena! That's not what I meant!" Darien pointed out, as he hated to hurt his lover's feelings. If anything, he wanted to be with her, but he promised himself a good career for their own good lives before they would one day end up being King and Queen of Crystal Tokyo and give birth to Rini.
Serena stood up, still upset, "You're just trying to make feel better." she said.
"No, Serena. You're misunderstanding." Darien comforted the young woman.
"But I still feel like I'm annoying you all the time." Serena sobbed.
Darien held her gently by the arms and said, "Serena, you never annoyed me, and you never will. Sometimes I'm too busy to reply, but other than that, I've always loved to be with you, and I'll always love you, even in the end of our lives which won't be too soon."
Serena looked up at him, hope swelling up inside her heart, and asked, "Really?"
"More than anything else."
Relived, Serena threw herself into Darien's arms, and he embraced her lovingly. They both looked at each other, before leaning close to each other's faces, eyes closing, and their lips close to touching for...
"Not a good time for a romantic kiss." Jonathan's voice cuts off the moment(A/N: and the romantic music in the background being sharply cut-off), causing Serena and Darien to turn and see that Jonathan entered, before the two flinched away, faces turning bright red in embarrassment, before quickly walking pass Jonathan into the main room.
Drat! And they were so close in kissing too! Way to ruin the moment, Jonathan. Anyway, back to the story.
After the embarrassing end to their very-close kiss, Serena and Darien grouped with Rick, Evy, Raye, Lita, Mina, May, Henderson and Daniels, while Jonathan sat in one of the chairs, and the group were talking about how to solve the problem, while the moon continued to block the sun in the sky. Team Rocket ran off somewhere since they didn't want to join in the struggles, though knowing their luck, they'll end up rejoining the group again soon...ish.
"We must stop him from regenerating." Evy said.
Raye turned to glare at the two Americans and demanded, "Who opened that stupid chest in the first place?"
"Well, there's me and Daniels here." Henderson answered, before quickly remembering, "Oh, and Burns, of course."
Daniels nodded and added, "And that Egyptologist feller."
"What about my buddy Beni?" asked Rick who was standing near the window which was looking out at the eclipse, including two soldiers who were also looking at it.
"And Team Rocket? They weren't there too, were they?" Serena asked as well. As much as the trio of the Team Rocket Organization were great pains in the butt, she was worried about them as well, as she knows that they were good in their hearts.
Daniels shook his head, "Nah, those three and the Pokemon scrammed outta there 'fore we opened the damn thing."
"Yeah, they were the smart ones." Henderson smirked.
The Sailor Team giggled at this, with Lita saying, "Yeah, that sounds like Team Rocket alright." with Serena, Amy, Raye and Mina all nodding in agreement. They knew how much Jessie, James and Meowth were such scaredy trio of comical and clumsy clowns. It's still a mystery of why the Team Rocket oraganization decided to still keep them on the criminal jobs.
"And Beni." Rick agreed with a nod.
Amy then summed up, "If we found the Egyptologist, we can bring back to safety of the fort before Imhotep gets to him first."
"Right." Rick nodded in agreement, before firmly ordering, "You ladies stay here, the rest of you, come with me." but as he began to walk about, because everyone was protesting, the women stating they were not leaving, Darien didn't want to leave Serena behind and even agreed that the Sailor Scouts would come with, and the rest of the men all complaining that they didn't want to go anywhere.
"Who put you in charge!?" Evy protested angrily, "You can't leave me behind like some old carpet bag!" only for Rick to roll his eyes and walked towards her before he threw her over his shoulder. "O'Connell! WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING!?" she continued to yell as Rick carried her into the bedroom, before she yelled out to her brother.
Jonathan flinched, muttering, "Sorry, but he's tall and bigger." making up an excuse. Wuss.
Rick then tossed Evy onto the bed and quickly made it out before locking the yelling woman inside, and Evy continued to yell and banged onto the door, furiously demanding to be let out, which Serena and the others, including a slightly freaked out Darien, all looked at each other, not knowing what to say. Rick then grabbed Daniels, handing him the key and held up by the door, looking at the slightly shorter man in the eyes.
"This door doesn't open. She doesn't come out, and no one goes in. Right?"
"Right." Daniels nodded.
"Right?" Rick added to Henderson who shrugged with a, "Right."
Rick then ordered the rest of the group, "Let's go, guys." to which most of them nodded, but Jonathan was still in the chair.
"Oh, I think I'll stay here." the Englishman muttered.
"NOW!" Serena, Amy, Raye and Rick snapped, while Mina, Lita and Darien returned and grabbed hold of Jonathan, dragging the complaining man with them out, leaving the two Americans alone with Evy still locked in the bedroom, and the latter still screaming to be let out.
Meanwhile, Team Rocket were alone in the dark alley of night, all groaning that they were still stuck here, and didn't know on what's happening. Not that they wanted to know, but it seemed supicious on how Serena and her friends know about this, and while they were not around, the Sailor Scouts would arrive as well. As usual, they were too stupid and too slow to realise the connect.
Other than that, they just wanted to get away from the Mummy as possible.
"Let's find a cheap hotel to crash for the night." Jessie grumbled.
"Where did we find the cheapest one?" James asked.
"Who knows." Meowth sighed.
Just then, they blinked in surprise, and in front of them, was a dingy yet not bad looking cheap motel ahead of them, one that they walked passed earlier since they couldn't afford the one Serena and the others were, only to go there for some food and such. "There it is! Hurry for safety!" Team Rocket all cried out, all quickly running towards it to save themselves.
Suddenly, as the Bazaar was closed off and having automatic gates that closes this part of town, the bars rose up, blocking Team Rocket's path to get to their hotel. Crashing into it, they all panicked and tried to break through, not knowing of the recent technology. To add to everything else, the other parts of the bars rose up behind them, and trapped them inside. Rushing back, they clinged onto the bars in desparation.
"I'm not the one who's behind this!" Meowth pleaded, referring to the Mummy that is trying to destroy the world.
"Mommy help me!" James wailed. How he hated being a prisoner.
"We're innocent!" Jessie shrieked.
As behind them, Allen, who was looking and feeling haunted, clinged onto the Book of the Dead in his arms and the canopic jar, trying to escape his fate. He looked around, but unfortunately is unaware that Imhotep, once again in his cloak, was getting closer and closer to him.
Meanwhile, in Allen's office, the Slimly-Idiotic-Slug(Aka: Beni) was throwing things around, roughly shoving away everything, and pulling out drawers and shaking them until they're empty, most likely looking for either the canopic jar or the Black Book for Imhotep.
"Well well well." Rick's voice unexpectedly came, as Beni turned around to see that Rick, the Sailor Scouts(who had already transformed) and Tuxedo Mask arriving the office to find the mess. "Let me guess; Spring Cleaning." Rick continued in sarcasm.
Seeing them, Beni quickly turned to make a run for it, but Sailor Jupiter was faster, because she pulled out a chair and threw it at the man's legs, hitting him square in the back of the legs and causing him to fall painfully on the floor. The other scouts cheered, while Tuxedo Mask shook his head, and Rick was admittedly impressed, as was Jonathan.
"Nice shoot." Jonathan muttered.
"Oh, Beni, did you fall down?" Rick mocked as he moved to grab the smaller man, "Let me help you up." before slamming Beni into the cabinets. "You came back from the desert with a new friend, didn't you, Beni?"
Beni knew that he couldn't mention he was working for Imhotep and lied, "What friend? You are my only friend."
"Yeah right." Sailor Moon accussed, "We know that you have something to do with that Mummy killing Burns!"
"It turns out that he spared your life." Sailor Mars added, "Why you of all people!?" while Rick slammed Beni to the desk as the woman said this.
"What are you doing with this creep anyway!?" Sailor Venus added.
"Yeah, what's in it for you?" Rick added.
Beni answered, "It is better to be the right hand of the devil than in his path. As long as I serve him, I am immune." only to be slammed against boxes in Rick's irritation.
"Immune from what?" Rick demanded.
That's when Sailor Mercury realised the answer and said, "The Mummy believes him to be a perfect subject to help him in finding what he wants."
Beni then cursed in Arabic, when Rick noticed, before Rick was dragging him under the fan, and demanded, "What are you looking for? And try not to lie to me." holding him up close to the fan, threating to let Beni get sliced into pieces.
The Two-Timing-Rat-face screamed and replied, "The Book! The black book they found back in Hamunaptra. He wants it back. He said to me that it would be worth it's weight in gold."
"What does he want the book for?" Jonathan demanded.
"Oh come on, I don't know." Beni said.
"You're lying." Tuxedo Mask stated, glaring at Beni through his mask.
Sailor Moon glared up at Beni and ordered, "We need to know! Tell us the truth! What does he want the book for?"
"Or would you rather be sliced up into pieces?" Sailor Jupiter challenged, which Rick held Beni up near the fan again.
"Ahh!" Beni screamed, then answered, "Something about bringing his dead girlfriend back to life! That's all he wants, the book, I swear." as Rick then lowered him down, "Just the book, I swear." before adding, "And your sister. But other than that-!"
Before he could finish, though, a loud high-pitched scream came from outside. It gave Beni a chance, as he kneed Rick on the crotch before taking off and jumped out of the window and crash landed hard, before standing up, dazed, before running away again. Sailor Moon and the others approached the window, as more screams filled the night air, and to their horror and the horror of the crowd that gathered and quickly backed away, was the corpse of the now dead Allen the Egyptologist, and the cloaked figure was now holding the black book as well as the third canopic jar.
"Not again..." Sailor Moon muttered in horror. Again, they were too late.
As if hearing her whisper, Imhotep slowly turned around and noticed them, with pure hatred. More skin covered him, and then out-stretching his mouth, he roared as out of his mouth came deadly insects. Despite wanting to save the crowd, Sailor Moon and the others were left no choice and slammed the window-doors shut, and Sailor Moon buried herself into Tuxedo Mask's arms while he tried to comfort her and all of them tried to ignore the screams down below outside.
"That's two down..." Sailor Jupiter muttered scaredly.
"Two to go." Sailor Venus concluded.
Jonathan looked pale and worried, as he added, "And he'll come after Evy."
"Let's go." Rick told them.
Tuxedo Mask soothed Sailor Moon who breathed in and out, trying to calm down. "Sailor Moon..." Tuxedo Mask whispered.
Sailor Moon sighed shakily, saying, "I can't believe I'm such a failure. I couldn't do anything to save anyone here in Egypt and I still can't."
"You can't save everyone, no mutter how much you try." Tuxedo Mask explained, "Everyone dies everyday, and even though we try to keep everyone alive, we can't always save them."
Seeing how he has a point, she wipes away tears that started to from, and Sailor Moon nodded, saying, "We'd better get to Evy."
Unfortunately, by the time Sailor Moon and her group made it back, Daniels was absent, the stupid idiot, and when they all barged back into the room, they all gasped in horror as Henderson was already dead himself, before they turned to Evy's door and immediately rushed over and smashed it open, to find the Mummy, now looking more human, save from his mouth still looking decayed, and on top of everything else, was kissing a horrified Evy who had been sleeping and was now awake.
"Hey!" Sailor Moon yelled in anger, "Get your ugly and bony face off her!"
While Evy panicked and hid behind of the side of the bed, Imhotep glanced at Sailor Moon and glared at her in pure hatred, responding in Ancient Egyptain, "Stay out of my way, Ruler of the Moon!"
Sailor Moon and Rick both smirked, and both of them said in a sing-song tone, "Look what we got. BOO!" with Sailor Moon holding up the white cat she retrieved from Burn's quarters. The Mummy shrieked in fright, and the cat responded with an threatened hiss.
In fear, Imhotep once again left the same way he did when he ran away in Burn's room earlier, and slammed the window the behind him on his way out. Everyone sighed at this, and Evy just blew some of her hair out of her face in exasperation close call.
"You alright?" Rick asked to Evy.
"Well, I'm not sure." Jonathan replied, rubbing his chest from a scare attack. Rick and the others only looked at him like he was an idiot, considering how the question wasn't directed to him but he thought that it was.
Sailor Jupiter then turned to Evy and asked with a sweatdrop, "How is it that he's your older brother even though it's like you're the oldest instead?"
"It's always been that way, even when we were children." Evy admitted.
"Sucks being an older sister, huh?" Sailor Moon shrugged with a sweatdrop. "On the other hand, it sucks being the youngest sister too, right?" she should know, because 1), she and May were both older sisters, and 2), Sakura and Evy were both the younger sisters, all four of them having brothers, one each.
Sailor Mercury then suggested, "Evy, it might be a good idea to get changed. We have to hurry and stop him."
"You're right." Evy agreed, standing up, "We've got to get back to the Museum."
Everyone nodded, as they knew, they had to get stop the Mummy once and for all, before it was truly too late.
A/N: Sorry that the chapter seems shorter than the previous, but I'll try to make the next one longer. I tried to make the part with Serena and Darien as romantic and true. In case you guys haven't figured it out yet, Sceptile is one of the main characters in my version of Season 6 of Sailor Moon in my Sailor Moon Continuum stories.
In the meantime, please continue your awesome reviews, fellow readers, and look out for the next chapter.
