Chapter 12 – The Start of War

Thor walked towards the Quinjet and saw Natasha motion for him to come inside. Clint brushed past them towards the pilot seat while Natasha prepared her weapons. Clint sat and buckled himself up and closed the hatch. Thor had no idea what was happening, so he sat behind the co-pilot's seat at the side.

"We're headed to Puente Antiguo."

"Jane's location," Thor stared. "Why?"

"An hour ago we got a call about the Bifrost acting up." Natasha answered.

"The Bifrost?"

"Your warrior friends have returned looking for you. But 30 minutes later, we received a red alert after something appeared by the desert, about 3 miles from the town."

"What of my friends?"

"They're down there helping keep whatever it is at bay."

"Coulson's also down there." Clint informed. "We can't connect a signal to him for contact."

"That's why we're going down there." Natasha voiced their intent. "If that thing is one of yours, maybe you know how to deal with it."

"Of course," Thor nodded.

A few minutes later when they finally neared their destination, Clint pointed something to Natasha, who squinted to see. She shook her head and asked him to get a little closer so they could help out. She started to push controls when a bright yellow flash appeared in the sky. Clint was fast enough to stir clear of it.

"What the hell was that?"

"I think I know." Thor muttered as he stood up to see. "Can you get closer?"

"Not if we want to get hit."

"Maneuver it someplace else," Natasha ordered. "We need to land at some point."

"Copy that."

"What do you see, Clint?"

"It looks like one of Stark's."

The controls flashed for a moment and it nearly freaked out both Natasha and Clint. They tried to fix it until their feeds were completely intercepted and a small screen opened up by the panel between them. Even Thor was surprised to see who was in it.

"I should have known," Natasha glared.

"You ass," Clint frowned.

"That's not mine," Tony said.

"Are you sure that thing isn't yours?

"I'm being framed."

"If it isn't yours then whose is it?" Natasha grimaced. "We can't contact Coulson."

"Fortunately for you, when the feeds broke off from Shield to Puente Antiguo, I was the one who contacted Fury about the event."

"You're spying on us?"

"You're welcome." Tony laughed. "Anyways, I'm headed there as we speak."

Clint gaped. "Are you insane?"

"Maybe," He shrugged and declared. "I didn't eat any breakfast."

Natasha sighed. "Since you're here, can you get us a feed from Coulson? The network is still down."

"Let me try and get you online."

"Shield's been trying for nearly an hour now." Clint sighed. "What makes you think you have a shot at it?"

"Genius over here?" Tony scoffed. "Give me a second."

Tony disappeared from the screen.

And they waited.

Clint turned to Natasha, "Does this happen often?" He asked. She merely shrugged and tried to locate where the Shield team was down below. Thor awkwardly stood behind her as he waited.

"Guys," Tony popped back up. "You're online."

"That was fast," Natasha quipped.

"Coulson?" Clint called.

"I just talked to Stark," Coulson asked. "Are you the backup?"

"That depends how much in trouble you're in."

"Not much, but the small town will get leveled if it comes near it." He answered. "So far, Thor's friends are up to par with this thing and they're leading it away from us."

"Can you show us what we're up against?" Natasha asked. "We have Thor."

"Here."

Coulson pointed the screen at the enemy to see Sif and Volstagg engaging from behind the metal man. Fandral and Hogun were dodging its beams while directly distracting it. The beam shot towards Coulson, who had to duck and as the beam hit the car behind them. The whole screen shook and dust flew everywhere.

"I can't… talk much!"

"Coulson!" Natasha called. "Can you hear us?"

"This thing wants a browbeating!"

"Damn it." Clint cursed.

"Get…b-ck… up…"

"That is no ordinary metal man," Thor voiced. "That is the Destroyer."

"What?"

"It will destroy everything in its path when given the order. How it came to be here, I know not. But it is under someone's bidding."

"We nee- ba-ck… up." Coulson panted. "No-ow!"

"Back up coming your way," Tony voiced.

Clint, Natasha and Thor were startled when they heard something zoom past the Quinjet and began to attack down below. Missiles headed straight for the destroyer. The Warriors four saw it and moved out of the way before the missiles exploded. Clint narrowed his eyes and saw red and gold circle around the Destroyer.

"Stark has good timing," Clint muttered.

"We need to get down there," Natasha buckled up.

"Copy that."

"Buckle up, Thor."

"Hold on," Clint tipped the Quinjet downward. "Natasha, your call…"

"Copy."

She readied her controls and manned the joystick. A machine gun appeared from below the Quinjet as it dived down towards the Destroyer. Thor watched with anticipation, very well aware that he was useless and vulnerable.

"Closer," She urged.

"Now!"

Loki regretted what he did to Heimdall, but he had no other choice. He activated the Bifrost and watched the portal spiral. Loki clutched Gungnir tight to his chest in fear of what was to come of his actions. There was a momentary bright blinding light and it died down as Laufey stepped forward with a grin.

"Welcome to Asgard," Loki softly greeted.

"Well done, Loki!"

Laufey walked forward and patted Loki's head, which only made him shrink in regret. More Jotnar poured out of the portal as they casually left the Bifrost.

"Stop!" Tyr shouted.

"Stand down!"

"Hold your ground!"

"You are not welcome here Frost Giant!" Tyr cried out. "Go back!"

"Be gone!"

"Surrender to us!"

Loki turned to a small number of Einherjar barring the bridge.

"Tyr is here?" He thought.

Laufey shielded Loki from their sight, hoping to fool the Aesir. As soon as Laufey roared, two of the Jotnar launched themselves at the Einherjar's and Loki was too stunned to react. The two barreled down and another two followed, pushing the remaining few off the bridge or throwing them as far as they could.

"This isn't what we agreed upon." Loki trembled. "You're killing them."

"This is what was agreed upon."

"None would be harmed."

"None who are innocent, Loptr," Laufey's ice cold voice pierced the noise. "They are in our way, what else is to be done when they will not relent?"

Loki stayed silent.

He watched as more Jotnar poured out of the Bifrost and barreled down the bridge towards the city. Loki felt extremely guilty and only hoped he would get out alive to help the others stop this madness. He shouldn't have done it, he should have spoken to Thor of his fear, but he was weak. Oh, Loki regretted his failure to Asgard and most of all to his brother.

"That's enough," Loki spoke.

"What?" Laufey turned.

"You've done enough damage. You were only here for the Casket."

"Aye, I was."

"Then claim it and go."

"You're impatient, aren't you?" Laufey laughed.

"Just take it!"

"Later, for now," Laufey extended his arm. "Be a good boy and hand that over."

"What?" Loki blinked.

"The All-Father's scepter."

"That wasn't part of our deal," He took a step back. "We had an agreement!"

"Our agreement was for you to bring us to Asgard, child!" Laufey glared. "Now hand it over."

"I am King—!"

"And a King no more!" He snarled. "Step aside!"

Laufey raged and snatched the scepter before Loki could attack him. He pushed Loki to the wall and knocked the breath out of the boy. Loki fell to the floor, dazed and memory muddled. Laufey chuckled and walked to his other son, who had just appeared from the Bifrost.

"Helblindi will follow soon after," Byleistr spoke. "They are waiting."

"Call to him now."

"But we are already winning." He complained.

"Have the troops ready, now!"

"Of course, Father."

Byleistr headed back towards the Bifrost and called for Helblindi. Loki sat up and groaned, trying to regain his senses from the sharp blow he received. Laufey leaned by the wall next to him.

"You cannot win," Loki mumbled.

"What did you say?"

"You cannot win! Not with your trickery."

"Tricks," Laufey burst into laughter. "Are you not renowned for them?"

"I settle a bargain that fits both parties," Loki glared. "I only do so at the expense of those who would cheat. I thought you would hold true because I pitied you!"

"Pity!"

Laufey grabbed Loki's neck and hauled him up. Loki kicked and bucked, but Laufey tightened his hold. Laufey shook him and watched as the blue crept onto Loki's skin.

"You pity your own kind?!" Laufey sneered. "Odin has indeed corrupted you!"

"He hasn't."

"Hasn't he?" Laufey tightened his grip. "Your eyes speak differently."

Both blood red eyes stared at each other, until Laufey gave in and released him. Loki fell to the ground. He groaned and twisted to his side. When he got his bearings, he sat up. He watched as Laufey paced around, trying to keep his anger in check. He was worse than Odin in that regard.

Loki eyed his hands and saw the patterns once more, making him feel horrid and disgusted with himself.

"Turn back," He willed. "Please turn back."

He watched as the pale color he was used to, returned to him. He knew not how, but he was glad that the blue finally receded.

"Rotten tom-foolery."

Loki turned to glare at Laufey, but had no strength to follow through in his anger. If Laufey wanted, in an instant he could have the scepter pointed at him, and he could be destroyed in a single blow if the King wanted to. Loki sat there patiently. The Bifrost activated once more and another set of Jotnar appeared.

"How do you want us to proceed?" Helblindi questioned.

"Raid what you can, take what you can!" Laufey grinned. "Burn what you must and enslave Asgard."

With that, they left.

"This is how you rule, Loki." Laufey turned to him. "No more will we be the poorest realm."

He walked to the center of the Bifrost and slammed the gatekeeper's sword into the keyhole. No sooner was it encased in ice while the electricity ran inside of it. The ice spread like a disease, encasing even the floors and walls. Loki stood up to avoid it and watched as the Bifrost turned into an icy blue crystal dome.

"Let me show you what I can do," Laufey smirked.

"What are you planning?"

"Have I not spoiled it to you yet?"

Loki remained silent.

"Very well," Laufey chuckled. "Let me enlighten you. I had hoped what I heard of the Bifrost being a weapon is true. Let us test that, shall we?"

"No," Loki panicked.

"Oh yes," He laughed. "I wonder what Alfheim will look like once I am done with it."

What had Loki done?

oOo

"How are things on your end?" Coulson contacted his people in Puente Antiguo. "Hello? Agent I'm asking you a question! How are things on your end?"

"Um… hi?"

"Miss Foster?"

"Uh, yeah Agent Coulson…"

"What are you doing using Shield contact equipment, Miss Foster?" Coulson asked. "Where is my Agent?"

"It's an interesting story."

"Oh no," Coulson looked up. "I'll have to put you on hold, Miss Foster."

He and his people ran out of the way when the Destroyer was pushed back to their location. Another car exploded as the Agents ran back to safety. Natasha and Clint occasionally shot at the Destroyer, but it was useless.

"Stark!" Coulson shouted. "Keep that thing away from us!"

"Sorry about that!" Tony yelled.

"Hello?"

"Miss Foster?"

"Agent Coulson?"

"Miss Foster, what is happening on your end?"

"The Agent escorting us passed out." She breathed. "We're half a mile away from the town."

"That isn't far enough."

Coulson turned back to see Sif being thrown off the Destroyer.

"What do you want us to do?"

"Stay there and keep the connection online."

oOo

"My friends," Thor sadly said.

"We'll get you to them, buddy." Clint said. "Hang on."

The Quinjet landed safely on the ground while Tony and the Warriors four attacked the destroyer. Tony was doing a splendid job becoming the distraction while the warriors targeted at every angle they could. As soon as the Quinjet landed, Natasha, Clint and Thor got off.

"Coulson!" Natasha called. "Over here."

The Agent ran as fast as he could towards them, barely avoiding Fandral thrown at him. Coulson panted and leaned forward giving them a smile.

"Took you long enough."

"We're here now," Clint shrugged.

"We need help."

"Are the blows effective against it?" Natasha asked.

"Negative."

"We can assist them."

"At a safe distance if you can." Coulson panted. "You're going to get mauled if you get into the cross fire. Contact Fury and tell him the information we have."

Natasha and Clint looked at each other and took off with the Quinjet once more. Coulson was left with Thor, who stood there watching distantly. Coulson knew that the Thunderer had something deep in mind, but they were in danger and he needed his attention.

"Thor, I think it's time."

"Time?"

"For your hammer," Coulson gestured, swinging his arm. "Maybe it will help."

"I…"

"I don't think your friends can handle it for long."

"I am not sure if I could."

Thor had doubts.

He could hear the faint voice of his father. Whosoever be he worthy, shall possess the power of Thor. But was he worthy to wield it? He couldn't even fight to protect Loki. Now, this was happening. Thor grimaced as he watched his friends fight without him. There had been a time where he used to lead them in battle, now Thor was useless.

Sif was thrown towards them, and they barely avoided her.

"Sif! Are you well?"

"Norns, you are finally here." She wheezed. "I am fine."

Thor pulled her up.

"We were looking for you, Thor."

"You were?"

"We knew not when and how we would see you." Sif watched as Volstagg slammed his axe at the destroyer. "We were planning to warn you before this happened. We believe Loki had something to do with it."

"Loki?" Coulson asked.

"Why would my brother do this?" Thor wondered.

"There is no time to speak of it," Sif said as she threw her dagger at the destroyer. "Your brother has been acting strange."

"Define strange, Sif."

"He kept to himself and his rule over Asgard. Earlier he had spoken with the Alfar and Dwarven delegates. We are not sure what happened afterwards."

"That doesn't explain things," Coulson voiced.

Tony dropped down next to them.

"Do you have any idea how hard it is to distract this thing?" Tony complained. "Are you just going to chit chat or are you going to help?"

"The destroyer can be deactivated," Sif informed. "But it would take a while to stop it. Not unless…"

"No," Thor shook his head. "I cannot."

"What can't he do?" Tony wondered. "Hammer time?"

"Thor, you have to," Sif said. "You must."

"I tried so before, I do not know if I am worthy of it now."

"You must try."

Sif saw Thor shy back into his silent depression.

She had no time to dwell on it with him, so she threw herself back in battle, goading Tony with her. But Coulson stopped Tony from fighting. Coulson ordered Tony to head with Natasha and Clint and have them secure the people half a mile off the town in case the Destroyer reaches that area.

"Jarvis, document this for me will you?" Tony voiced.

"Of course, Sir."

"Cool, let's go. We're needed elsewhere."

Tony flew away to catch up with the Quinjet. Thor continued to watch his friends fight while he stayed in the side line, avoiding the danger. Fandral swung his sword, while Volstagg and Hogun attacked from behind. Sif did what she could to try and knock the destroyer off its feet. But Thor knew they will not win.

"You've forgotten everything I taught you."

Thor recalled the memory so clearly, that it almost haunted him.

But he had to be strong so he could return home to his family and to Loki in particular, because it was his brother who needed Thor the most. He could tell that Loki was suffering all by the gaze he gave Thor. So he had to be strong, strong for Loki and his family.

"Had I been any other Jotun, I wouldn't be treated this way." Loki had once said to him. "I would have possibly been killed to end my misery."

Oh brother…

"Promise me something, Thor."

Thor wasn't planning on allowing Loki to fall so deep.

"I want you to vow that you would not leave my side in my time of need."

So Thor reached out and called to Mjolnir.

"I vowed." Thor breathed.

He hoped…

"I love you more than the nine realms combined, Loki." He thought. "I pray to the Norns that it is not too late."

That it would hear him.

oOo

"Atli!?"

"Huh?"

"Atli you blind old Aesir!"

"Elf?"

"Atli!"

She turned and saw the Elf running towards her.

His long pale golden hair swayed as he ran, and his navy blue robe flowed behind him. Servants were panicking, and innocent bystanders and children were in utter chaos. Sounds of war, explosions and swords rounded outside. Some of the halls were encased in ice, while some others were already destroyed. Atli gripped her dress and walked towards the Elf.

"You crazy Elf!"

"What?" Erland stopped and frowned. "Did you think I was dead?"

"Perhaps I hoped for it," She shrugged.

"How inconsiderate," He snorted.

"While you ran around, I had the servants gather."

"Good, you already let them into the servant halls. Wonderful, you have good sense in you, Milady."

"Arrogant Elf, I am smarter than you think."

"Smarter than but not as wise," Erland heard something barrel down the hall.

"You and your words you—"

"Hush!"

He closed the secret door and pulled Atli to the side of the pillar and they both watched three of the Jotnar run down the hall into the next one. Atli pushed Erland away and flipped her hair in disgust. Erland had to laugh at her insensitive nature.

"May I leave you now, fair old lady?"

"I am not that old." Atli protested. "You ungrateful Elf."

"Fair enough, I will see you in a while."

"Where are you headed?" She wondered. "Will you not follow us to the passage?"

"Nay," He shook his head. "I have business elsewhere."

"Don't die Elf."

"I would not dream of it."

He left Atli on her own knowing that she knew a fair deal of fighting under Loki's charge. Some of the servants had to know a bit of weaponry, but Erland was a great exception. He came from Alfheim under Freyr's command after all. Erland carefully and silently walked through the hall, avoiding the Jotnar who were already lurking about.

"Strange how much destruction they seek."

They were destroying curtains, paintings, furniture, and adding to the design by encasing it in ice. Erland grimaced at the bodies that lay on the ground in some of the halls. Bodies of both Einherjar and Jotnar alike were strewn around.

"I wonder where he could have gone."

"Hello, Elf."

"Now I wonder why I never sensed you," Erland mumbled.

"Where are you headed, Elf?"

Erland turned and smiled. "Light feet you have, Frost Giant."

"Are you mocking me?"

"Are you mocking me?" He teased. "Light foot, Frost Giant."

"Your senses must be dull not to have heard me."

"We know that is not true."

Erland heard three more large footsteps, but this one Jotun had a light feet. Erland waited and watched as the four of them piled up together. Two of them looked like royalty, which Erland guessed as Laufey's sons. While the other and the light feet one were trusted guards.

"Stop playing around, Valgard." Helblindi hissed.

"Is that so?"

"We already have what we need." Byleistr growled.

Helblindi held the Casket of Ancient Winters in his hand and pointed it at Erland. "Let us see if it works." With Erland's quick senses and abilities, he managed to dodge the ice headed his way and watched as the four Jotun's laughed at him.

"How did you get that?"

"What does it matter to you, Elf?" Byleistr sneered.

"It matters to me when you steal from my King's treasure room!"

"I will handle the Elf," Valgard grinned.

"For a light foot, you are awfully boastful, old one."

"I will watch as Valgard slaughters the fair Elf." Alrik laughed. "Go without us."

"Slaughter, nay, you are mistaken." Erland grinned and mockingly bowed. "Tis you who shall meet your doom."

"Do not take too long," Helblindi grunted.

The two brothers left Erland with Valgard and Alrik.

"How shall we do this?"

"Can you hear this annoying Elf talk?" Alrik snorted. "Shall we cut off his limbs?"

"I shall have the honor of doing it." Valgard growled.

"Mercy?" Erland squeaked.

"Mercy? Ha! You will not receive one from us."

"Fair enough."

Erland ran towards Valgard and slid down under him. He spun underneath and pulled out twin daggers. He dragged it on either side of the Jotun's legs and swiped ferociously, then spun back to face Alrik.

Valgard fell to the ground.

Erland spun around and engaged the startled Alrik, who whipped up an ice dagger of his own. Gracefully, Erland dodged the hard blows of Alrik's weapon.

"You have more skill than your light footed friend."

"Quiet you!"

Erland spun and stabbed Alrik's foot and saw Valgard back on his feet. He pulled out the dagger and dodged Valgard then ran to the hall where most of the Einherjar were. Erland called out to them as the two Jotun barreled wildly behind him. The Einherjar prepared themselves as the two attacked blindly.

"Curse these Jotnar folk."

Chaos was everywhere in Asgard.

Erland ran to where he thought he saw Helblindi and Byleistr head through, but was only faced by more dead bodies and ice.

"Damn it," The Elf cursed. "Where is—?"

"Erland!?"

He wasn't sure if he heard right, but he couldn't forsake his Elven hearing. He turned to the hall and saw Loki nearly slip on the ice. Loki looked distraught and Erland felt worried. He ran to Loki, who panted uncharacteristically and held his left rib.

"What happened to you?"

"I am fine."

"You are bleeding!"

Erland pulled Loki's right hand away from his left rib and saw dark red blood staining his hand and tunic. Loki winced as Erland prodded the wound.

"We need to see Eir."

"No!"

"Loki!" Erland scolded. "You cannot fight in this condition."

"I care not for my well-being!" Loki shouted. "I have evaded Laufey yet he managed to hit me with Gungnir."

"He has the All-Father's scepter?"

"There is no time, Erland," Loki wheezed. "Please, worry not of me."

"But… you're bleeding."

It was so painful to see Erland's cerulean eyes dim with sorrow, and worry. Loki was nearly convinced to go to Eir because of him, but he knew there would be no more time. Asgard would be in ruins and he would be a coward for such a wound. Loki shook his head and pushed Erland's roaming hand away.

"Loki—"

"Asgard needs your help."

"I care not for Asgard," He glared. "I care for your health!"

"You stubborn Elf! We have no time for this!"

"You will bleed—"

"Please Erland, the sooner you do this, the sooner we are finished." Loki pleaded. "Please, Erland."

"Say what you must so we may rectify this situation," Erland would live to regret this later on. "I know not what you've done, but I care not. As long as you return in one piece and do not die."

Loki nodded.

"What is your command?" Erland asked.

"Find the All-Father's ravens."

"I know where they stay."

"Good," Loki winced and pressed a hand to his wound. "Have them contact Thor. They would be able to create an opening to lead my brother and his friends to the throne room."

"And the Bifrost?"

"I will handle that," Loki mumbled. "I must save Alfheim."

"Alfheim?" Erland gaped.

"Yes, Alfheim."

"You mean— Loki, my people!"

"I know!" Loki pleaded and pushed the Elf. "Just go! Find the ravens and do what you can to help Tyr's men when you are done. They have gone to the city. Do not die on me, Erland."

"Same could be said for you, My Prince."

"Go!"

"Be careful, Loki."

Erland reluctantly left while Loki went the other way, trying to stop the bleeding on his side. Laufey had managed to hit him right where it was needed. Loki had overheard that Laufey planned to take the throne, so Thor would be able to stop him from there while Loki busied himself with the Bifrost.

But Loki had someplace to be.

oOo

Thor was surprised.

He hadn't expected Mjolnir to return to him.

It was an extravagant feeling, to have that feeling of power once more, but it now felt balanced in him. There was a need for justice and war, the perfect harmony in his mind. He was doing it to help, not for the sick pleasure of a game of battle. His armor had returned to him as did his strength and it won him renown on Midgard. The hammer flew true, and saved what could have been Hogun's last breath.

"Finally," Fandral wheezed. "Never thought I would be glad for his hammer."

"Oh shut up," Sif glared.

"The battle is not over," Hogun grimaced.

"Aye, there is a matter of defeating the Destroyer." Volstagg panted.

Thor joined the fight and allowed his friends to rest.

Coulson watched and showed the feed to headquarters once Stark got the system up and running. Thor conjured up a huge storm. The sky grew dark and an enormous number of lightning attacked the Destroyer all at once.

"Heimdall?" Sif called.

"What are you doing, Sif?" Fandral asked.

"I am calling the gate-keeper but he is not answering." She worriedly looked at her friend's way. "Do you sense something?"

"Aye," Hogun said.

"Do you think something has happened in Asgard?" Volstagg asked.

"I hope not." Sif glared. "Heimdall! Can you hear us!?"

"Surely he is seeing the chaos Thor is unfolding?" Fandral pointed.

"Something is wrong," Sif said.

"We must finish quickly." Hogun agreed.

Thor was backhanded by the destroyer when he went too near, but immediately fought back and threw Mjolnir at him. The destroyer was sent back a few feet farther from them while Thor stalked him like a predator.

Sif retreated to where Coulson was and her friends followed her.

They were in disarray, bleeding and wounded, but otherwise able to walk. Coulson braced himself as the wind picked up and the sky grew darker. The warriors shielded Coulson from the storm, much to his thanks.

"What happens now?" Coulson yelled through the storm.

"Thor finishes this job." Sif said. "We must return to Asgard, for there is something wrong with the gatekeeper."

"It does not bode well." Hogun frowned.

Thor continuously pounded the destroyer against the sand and threw him across the desert. And that is where the silence began. The storm disappeared as Thor wielded it to. He walked over to where the destroyer lay in disarray. It wasn't an epic battle as Thor had once often liked, but the job was done. He had more pressing matters to concern himself with.

He was just glad it was over.

Thor looked at Mjolnir.

"Please let me be worthy still," Thor thought. "I am needed in Asgard."

He closed his eyes.

"Loki needs me."

"My friends, we must g—"

All of a sudden, a bright portal opened right beside Thor. He readied himself to attack what was about to come out and use Mjolnir. But then, he saw Huginn and Muninn fly from the portal towards him. Coulson and the Warriors four joined him as the portal continued to spin strangely, trying to balance out the tension.

"What is happening?" Fandral asked.

"Father's ravens," Thor breathed. "We are being called."

"Then something must have happened to the gatekeeper," Volstagg voiced.

"Aye."

"Wait, you're not leaving, are you?" Coulson wondered.

"We must," Thor said.

"What about the damages here?"

"That is something I cannot remedy, not yet. Tell Jane I will see her soon, but I am needed elsewhere. Asgard needs us. I hope you understand that."

Coulson was about to ask when the bright portal flashed before their eyes and a clearer image appeared. Coulson was shocked to see an Elf, staring back at them. He too seemed a bit confused yet there was relief in his eyes. He took a step forward and grimly called out.

"My Prince!"

"Erland!" Thor called.

"You must come to Asgard at once!"

"Where is Loki?"

"He is hurt." Erland told. "The Jotnar have taken over Asgard!"

"What?"

They all gasped and turned to each other.

"Go," Thor ordered. "I will follow."

Sif gave Thor a nod as she entered the portal quickly, her friends followed suite. They had their weapons ready. Thor watched as they each disappeared one by one to the portal. He turned to Coulson as the ravens disappeared as well.

"I will return when I can."

"I get it," Coulson nodded. "You're busy."

"I trust you to take care of things here."

With that, Thor left Coulson speechless with several wrecked cars, numerous holes on the ground and a very confusing mid-day. He could faintly hear several people on the line asking him of what happened. But he knew not how to explain it, especially to Fury. Thor entered the portal and couldn't help but feel a rush of danger, despair and chaos fill him. There was a swirl of emotions running through his mind, and the danger surrounding Asgard worsened it. Thor hoped, and wished that Mjolnir would not fail him.

"I am coming for you, Brother."
