When Wells and Miller turned up, Clarke was shocked, a little bit irritated, but mostly excited.
"Why didn't you tell me you were visiting?" she screamed, jumping on them and swatting their arms. They laughed and explained that Bellamy had got a hold of them and asked them to visit, and they just so happened to be flying in on the same day, from the same airport.
After Miller had gone off to the army, it had been hard for everyone, he was Bellamy's most trusted and longest friend, but Clarke had missed him too, they just seemed to click. They only ever saw each other with the group, and they weren't alone a lot, but he was the only one who could boss her around, and she was the only one he could be brutally honest with. So Clarke struggled, what made it harder was Wells leaving for the other side of the world. He went to Africa trying to help them become more self-sufficient and to try and stop the corruption in their politics.
So Clarke had lost two of her friends, one of them being her best friend, her longest friend; her family. Miller couldn't write much, he was always on special ops and couldn't give away their location, and Wells wrote when he could but it wasn't the same.
That's why Clarke was so excited to see them until it sunk in. She slid down and stopped piggybacking Wells whilst tickling Miller. "Wait Bellamy asked you to come? Why?" she stopped smiling, and just froze waiting to hear her suspicions confirmed.
"Clarke, we err, he told-, we know about the incident?" Wells tried a few times before getting it out successfully. Miller just looked at Clarke, with that look, the look of pity; the look of concern. Clarke turned on her heel, walked into her bedroom and locked the door. It only took her a few moments to come back again, with a bag and her car keys.
"If you want to stay here you can, although you probably want to see your families, Miller I know how close you and your dad are, and Wells every time I see your dad he tells me how proud he is to have a peacemaker for a son, but if you want to crash here that's fine. The spare key is under the mat outside, when you leave lock the door. I've not got much food in but feel free to have anything you want. Bye!" she rambled through this, looking surprisingly calm, and then kissed their cheeks goodbye. She was about to step out of the door when Miller stopped her.
"What's going on? Where are you headed to?" he asked, clearly confused.
"I'm going on holiday" she calmly replied and walked straight through the door.
When she got to Raven's house, she obviously already got the alert from the guys. Clarke was thinking maybe she should have gone to Octavia first, but she just pulled the door open, revealing her own bag. "So Griffin, where are we headed?" she smiled and walked to the car, not looking back.
Octavia took a little bit more persuading. They knocked on her door, and she let them in looking surprised and a little bit confused. "Hey guys, what's going on?" she questioned.
"You obviously haven't heard. We're leaving." Raven laughed, not even trying to hide her excitement, she had already had a couple of drinks to 'get her in the holiday spirit' she claimed.
Clarke told Octavia the exact same thing she told Raven, except this time it was to convince her to come, not just to add to her excitement.
"We're going to go to Florida, for four days. We are going to turn off our phones, tan and drink, and just relax O! We've keep saying how long it's been since our last girly holiday, and we'll never go unless we just go. Just pack what you need, and let's just go. We all have holiday time left at work, and it would be nice to just get away for a bit." Clarke was desperate, she was trying to channel it so it seemed desperate for a holiday, but really she was just desperate for an escape. She was desperate to be normal, to have her old life back, where a guy could touch her without her wanting to cry.
"Clarke why are you doing this, and don't just say it's because otherwise we never will because that's just an excuse, I've known you for so many years, and I know that look in your eye." Octavia probed, gently, but it was enough for Clarke to admit the truth.
"Ok. I just want to escape. Ever since … "the creep" things have been different, for obvious reasons, but I just want a few days where I can feel like myself, where I don't get pitying glances and special treatment. I just want to be normal." Clarke managed to say this without letting tears drop, and she was expecting O, the psych major, to explain that she avoiding or something, but instead she just nodded and went to pack her things.
They were on the road, with road trip music, and good banter, snacks, drinks (alcoholic for Raven) and everything seemed well. That was until Bellamy was suddenly driving along side them looking furious and … hurt?
Clarke nearly crashed the car when she saw him because she was so shocked, but she pulled over speedily, once again nearly crashing because she hadn't looked properly, desperate to escape his glare. "What are you doing here Bellamy?" Clarke questioned, extremely confused until she saw Octavia's sheepish face, that looked worried and angry at the same time.
"Well let's see, I was at work, and I was talking to my friends, laughing you know having a good time, that was until I got a text from O. I expected it to be a normal text, but when I found out you were going to FLORIDA for a GIRLY WEEKEND, let's just say I was a bit shocked. So I drove to Octavia's place, and you guys had already been, so I thought which road you would take to get to Florida, knowing you couldn't be that far ahead, and I just kept driving, worried I'd gone past you, or that you'd used a different road you know lots of different options you see? But then I saw your car, and saw you and well now we're here aren't we?" he replied nearly shouting, in a very sarcastic and biting tone.
"I didn't tell you to come, I didn't tell you so you could ruin it, I told you because I'm a adult and I wanted my brother to know I was going to go have fun, but you always have to ruin it, don't you Bell?" Octavia replied, but near the end she realised that for once he wasn't angry at her for going, he was angry at Clarke for leaving without saying goodbye. For a while the older Blake just stared at Clarke with eyes that looked like they were angry, but were actually hurt, until Raven pulled Octavia away, out of ear shot and let them talk it out.
"Why didn't you tell me Clarke?" Bellamy pleaded, wanting to know what he'd done wrong.
"Why did you tell Miller and Wells?" Clarke responded, ice in her voice, trying to stop her humiliated tears from brimming over. He started to respond, but Clarke went right up in his face and hissed at him saying "It is not your responsibility to tell people what happened to me Bellamy. That is my choice. My RIGHT. And you took that away from me. Didn't you think it might be a nice thing for me to have, a nice thing to know that at least two of my friends didn't know what happened. That I could speak to two of my friends without getting pitying looks, and being spoken differently to everyone else. No one even jokes with me properly Bellamy. Not even you. So don't you dare question why I'm going, and don't you dare question why I didn't tell you. I didn't tell you because I'm pissed and I need to get away. I need to leave. Now." She never raised her voice, she always spoke in the same hushed urgent tone, and when she was done she just turned on her heel, got into her car where the other two girls were waiting and drove off, not once looking back.
She never even realised that she had just broken Bellamy Blake.
OK! SO this isn't as long as they normally are but I just wanted to leave it there. I know I say this every time, but I'm not writing from experience with what Clarke is going through, but this idea of her frustration was one that I couldn't ignore because obviously she is so strong and doesn't want other people to see her as being weak, and Bellamy is the person she has bonded with the most so she's lashing out at him.
Now I know a lot of people won't like this chapter, and I'm sorry for that, it's going to get worse before it gets better, but when it does get better it will get a lot better. I'm planning to focus on the other characters for next chapter at least, and I definitely want to fit in some Jasper/Monty detail because they're so adorable and I'm re watching old episodes and they break my heart they're that cute so yeah, that's the plan.
But, if you have ideas, criticism, a plot line etc anything at all that you want me to know, then just review and let me know so I might be able to add it in and hopefully improve this story for everyone!
Thanks for all reviews/favourites/follows you guys are the best! And I hope you did enjoy this chapter! :*
