Clarke looked around at all of her friends enjoying the party, and then to the man that knew he well enough to make this possible. Raven and Wick were adorably arguing about something, but Clarke heard the nickname "Wrench Monkey" that Raven christened Wick with, so she knew it was about something far too complicated for the likes of her to understand. Octavia was sitting on Lincoln's shoulders in the pool, battling against Jasper and Maya who were in a similar position, and Octavia's screams were much louder than the blaring music. Murphy was under the shadows of the trees with a drink in one hand and the phone in his other, most likely calling a mysterious girl who he was told nobody about. Miller was on the sun bed next to Clarke, he fell asleep whilst tanning. She reached over and spread some sun-tan lotion over his back, not wanting him to burn. Then she proceeded to look at Wells who was talking to Bellamy, who wasn't paying attention. Sure he was nodding and commenting every now and then, but he was staring at Clarke, even more so after she spread the lotion on Miller's back.

Don't think about it Clarke. Just relax, the reason you feel so hot right now is not because of his gaze, it is because of the sun … maybe she should go for a dip in the pool. As the cool water hit her head, she couldn't help but think back to when Bellamy had shown up a couple days before.

"What are you doing here?" she managed to stutter out after a couple of moments had gone by. He was standing so close she could smell him, he smelt like pine and old leather. It was nice. Her cheeks had gone red from her thoughts, making her more self conscious, and in turn making her voice sound harsh. Harsher than she wanted.

"Well, when I heard you were going to Miami, I knew you were coming here, I'm not an idiot." He paused before continuing. "I just didn't want you this far away from me when you're angry with me. We should talk this out; I can't have you hate me Clarke," he pleaded towards the end of the sentence, trying not to sound pathetically desperate, but he wasn't very successful.

"It wasn't you was it? It was my mum. I can't believe I was so STUPID. Of course it wasn't you" she stated this angrily. As he was begging it just clicked into place, that he wouldn't do anything to hurt her, but her mum would tell Wells. Without thinking about it she would tell Wells the whole story, probably Miller if he was there too.

She glanced at Bellamy who looked slightly relieved but guilty at the same time. "I didn't want to tell you but I was hoping you would guess. I'm really sorry Clarke" he added as she started to well up a bit.

"I just can't believe she doesn't understand why I wouldn't want EVERYONE to know. What about doctor/ patient confidentiality? I guess that doesn't matter when it's a family friend" she muttered out. Feeling guilty for all of the terrible things she had said to Bellamy, she reached out and hugged him murmuring an apology into his collar bone. He just shushed her and rubbed her back, and she knew she was forgiven.

Bellamy went and got changed into some swimming trunks he'd thought to pack and they spent the day in the pool. When Raven and Octavia awoke from their slumber they came out and joined them, not even questioning why Bellamy was there, or how they had made up.

For the first time since the incident, Clarke felt like that wasn't what defined her. She didn't feel like when people saw her they saw her as some poor innocent girl who was now scarred for life. She was just a young woman having fun in the sun. It was the way life was supposed to be, and it was how her dad would want her to feel.

That night they ordered pizza and sat round on a rug on the floor having a "picnic", they were discussing their friends, teasing Raven about Wick, and the girls got in a few questions about Lincoln to Octavia whilst Bellamy was out of the room. Everything was brilliant until Clarke shocked them, shocked them so much Bellamy choked on his beer.

"Let's have a party" was all she said and then took another bite of her pizza. They all stared up at her, looking very confused.

"But I thought you wanted to get away from everyone…"

"Are you ready for that?"

"Why?"

Octavia, Raven and Bellamy all asked at the same time. Clarke furrowed her eyebrows and replied. "I miss the group, I thought I wanted to get away, but not from them, they're like family only better because I actually picked them. Anyway Miller and Wells just got back and I ditched straight away, like what's up with that? And yes of course I'm ready, I don't want a massive blow out with randomers coming, I just want a Unity Day gathering, just not on Unity Day, and maybe more party vibes instead of chill." She answered straight away, sending out confidence and excitement out of her body.

"Yeah let's do it then Princess" Bellamy replied, trying to sound just as excited, but he still had that edge of worry in his voice. Misplaced worry.

So that was how they'd decided to have a party. They'd stayed up planning and the next day invited everyone. It wasn't massive, but it was made out of their patchwork family and she loved it. As she surfaced, she looked over at where Bellamy had been standing to see nobody there.

And then she was in the air. It was so sudden, she couldn't appreciate that feeling of flying. There was just that buzz of pure unadulterated excitement in her chest that felt like it would burst out of her chest, and make her heart explode and then, before she knew it she was down low in the water, bubbles trying desperately to escape to the surface by her eyes.

Finding her footing she stood up, and as her face emerged from the water, she comically spat the collected water out of her mouth, and scraped her hair out of her eyes, trying to find the culprit. He was standing there, abs on display, hands on his hips, and softly whistling, looking around at the sky. He was doing the whole "badly hiding the fact it was me, so she will know it's me, but in a funny way, because she would know it's me anyway" thing.

She was going to glare at him, and act angry, but his face just made her laugh, so she swam up to him, and splashed him. They then proceeded to have a splashing war, with very creative threats. "If you splash me one more time, then I will burn all of your mythology books", "For every time you splash me, I will replace one of your own paintings with one of mine", "I will shave your eyebrows in your sleep", "I will cut chunks out of your hair at random intervals, so you will always have uneven hair." So it went on and on. They didn't realise all of their friends had gone silent, and were just watching them with amusement, until Clarke had to stop because she was gasping for air, tears were running down her face and she couldn't hold back the laughter. She was snorting and everything.

Bellamy looked round at his friends who all had 'that look' on their faces. "What are you ugly lot looking at, have you never had a splashing war whilst shouting ridiculously lame threats before?" he laughed.

"Dare"

"Drink this" Raven told Octavia, who gulped when she saw the concoction Raven had pulled out from behind her back.

"What is it exactly?" Octavia asked trying to seem calm, but was hesitant.

"Lots and lots of Monty's rejected brews mixed up together to create the ultimate drink, and most likely the most disgusting one at that." Raven replied quickly, amusement playing in her eyes.

Octavia downed it, and as she was chugging it was another person's turn.

"Dare," Murphy replied, looking stone cold bored.

"You have to prank call that girl you're always on the phone to" Miller told him, laughing as Murphy actually showed emotion.

"Is there a forfeit?" He asked through his teeth, outraged that he actually let his façade drop, even around people that knew it was exactly that, just a façade.

"Nope, this dare has no outs" Miller smirked, and watched Murphy pull out his phone, withhold his number, and prank the mystery girl by telling her that her Chinese order was ready for her to pick up, and then proceed to argue with her about it. Clarke knew Murphy could do better, and that's when she knew he really liked this girl, and didn't want to screw things up with her.

"Truth" Miller answered cockily, putting his hands under his head as if he was relaxing.

"Have you ever liked somebody from the group?" Jasper asked waggling his eyebrows.

"Uh, no, nope, I can do better than you losers anyway" he answered, but a bit too quickly.

Everyone laughed, not bothering to think he was lying, but Bellamy caught the edge to his voice and that slight look he sent towards Clarke, and suddenly he felt like a monster had roared up in his chest and was threatening to devour his oldest friend. He wasn't concentrating during Raven's turn.

"Truth"

"What's the craziest thing you have ever done?" Octavia asked Raven.

"Skinny dipping at high school." She answered simply, not even slightly fazed, and Wick spat out his beer, going slightly red.

"Oh and these dicks stole our clothes, and they were the ones who drove us to the beach, so we had to walk back naked at night, it was pretty hardcore." She carried on still shrugging it off.

"Let's do it" Clarke said, once again managing to shock everyone but Bellamy, who hadn't been paying attention. Clarke received apprehensive looks before snapping at her friends "I'm fine! Don't treat me differently! We will all go together, and it will be fun, nobody will be there at four in the morning, come on guys!" she pleaded, wanting to see normal.

"But naked really?" Monty murmured quietly, whilst everyone was actually agreeing and laughing.

"It's not like I've not seen all of you naked anyway" Clarke said and laughed, and winked at Miller when he looked shocked. That's when Bellamy started listening to the conversation again.

"What are we doing princess?" Bellamy asked, and when he found out he tried his hardest to concentrate, but all he could think about was Clarke naked and in the water. The rational part of him knew that he should say no to this, that it would be a bad idea, but he couldn't bring himself to do it. Instead he ran down with the rest of his friends and threw his clothes on the sand next to Clarke's.

Everyone ran into the water screeching and yelling and laughing, whilst trying to cover themselves up with their hands until they were submerged.

Whilst the others were bantering and pranking each other, Clarke let her head fall under the water, and stared at the stars from underneath the water line. They looked blurry and distant, but still just as beautiful and intriguing.

She swam out so she was far enough from the bay that she could barely see anything. It was nice, peaceful. She could still hear the shouts from her friends, and see their outlines, but she could enjoy this moment, have it in her memory, without it being tinted with embarrassment.

Miller swam out to her. "So, you've been gone a while" Clarke started off, deciding she just wanted to let him know that she wasn't happy he'd not taken a break to visit until now.

"Yeah I know, I'm sorry" he said, seeming genuinely guilty.

"It's alright, just visit more often, you have missed too many Unity Days now, and I don't want any of the newbies to replace you ok?" she lightly laughed, seeming serious but joking at the same time. "Now tell me a joke" she went on to demand, loving to hear his cheesiest ones.

"Do you have a plaster?" he suddenly asked, completely serious. Clarke's heart leapt out of her chest and she started to worry.

"Are you hurt? What's wrong? Why?" she practically yelled, worried he would bleed to death in the ocean.

"Because I think I just cut myself falling for you" he replied, laughing his ass off at her reaction. She swatted his arm but told him it was very good and to keep them coming.

"You know what my shirt is made of?" Miller asked again, laughing when Clarke's bright eyes looked towards his chest, and her head shook.

"Boyfriend material" and once again his laughter returned, but it had an edge to it. It seemed slightly forced, like he was worried about something.

"Can I take your picture to prove to all my friends that angels do exist?" he asked again. More jokes again and again, cheesier and cheesier but Clarke could detect something wrong each time. It was like he was hurting.

"I love someone" he abruptly stopped.

"Who?" Clarke screeched, wanting to know all of the details, shocked she didn't already know.

"You" and as Clarke took a deep breath in, confused and not knowing how to reply, he carried on in a smaller, insecure voice "And in a few years time I'll love another girl, and she'll call you Mummy." He tried and failed to pass it off as a joke, but Clarke knew him to well. She was suddenly very aware that they were both naked.

"Guys we're going back in, get your asses out of the water before your private parts get frostbite" Octavia screamed with laughter at them, obviously not knowing that Miller had just let slip his infatuation with Clarke.

"Since when?" Was all Clarke could say. They had been friends for so long, how had she not known this? And how can he be in love with her if he's been absent from her life for so long.

"The first Unity Day. You walked through the door in that black mini dress and I felt like the universe was shaking. At first I thought it was just lust, but we talked that night. Remember how much we talked? And I got to know you, and I told you about how I feel like a disappointment to my Dad? I've never told anybody that and I told you straight away. I thought it would go away, and I've had other girlfriends, and admittedly it's come and gone. But it always comes back to you Clarke. Always." He spilled all the information, seeming relieved, but terrified at the same time. And then, as Clarke was processing all the information he had just given her, he leant over and kissed her. It wasn't short and it wasn't long, but even though Clarke wasn't sure if this was what she wanted, or even if she liked the kiss it was over.

"Sorry to break up the party but Jasper was worried about you guys. I'll just tell them you're busy." Bellamy practically spat the words out at them.
