"Norway, I'm bored, let's do something fun-"
"You're here to learn, not have fun."
Philippines stuck her tongue out at the Nordic country, paying attention to her work Norway had given her. She was here today because England had caught another cold, and couldn't teach her magic today. Whenever she went with Norway though, she found she could never do anything fun. She couldn't really sneak away from the tiny shack all the magic took place, unless she wanted to brave the cold. She heaved a sigh and turned the page in the book. As far as she was now, she was still on level three incantations.
"Norge, I wanna do some actual magic instead of reading."
"When you learn how, I'll let you."
"One time, Norge, one time." Philippines complained as she turned another page, barely having read the other one.
"First impressions last a lifetime Philippines." Norway retorted. Philippines rolled her eyes and went back to her reading as Norway worked on his potions. She felt herself dozing off and her hand gave away as she laid her head on the table and fell asleep.
She had seen him many times before, even a quick conversation during one of the world meetings. She knew him because of her friend Iceland, but was never really acquainted with him. Until one day when England required help.
"Norway? I know of him. I heard he's kinda quiet. According to Ice, he's a jerk." Philippines was helping England pull out glasses and ingredients.
"Right, anyway, he's coming over to help me teach you potion," he said.
"Aww, is Iggy not capable of teaching me on his own?" she teased.
"Shut up. You can be a little difficult when it comes to teaching, and potions are potentially lethal if you have even one wrong ingredient."
"A bit insulted, but fine. When's he coming?"
"He'll be here any minute, I'm gonna go upstairs. Try not to break anything." And with that, England ascended upstairs, leaving Philippines to think to herself. She smirked.
"Well, I guess a little practice before he gets here is good for the brain."
Philippines didn't bother opening a book, as she had had enough of them by now. She grabbed a Bunsen burner and an army of tubes, beakers, and Elmer's Glasses. She wanted to make a glow potion, something simple that she had watched England to a thousand times. She got her water base and a couple of blackberries to crush. After adding them to the water, she let it sit over the flame and got to work on the… darker ingredients. "Let's see… what was it, a cat's tail or a rabbit's foot? Both is okay." She dumped that into another beaker and added some green liquid she found in the cabinets. As those melted, she added some rose petals so it would smell better. A bit of smoke puffed, but she ignored it. She took the blackberry solution off the flame, then added a tube of live fireflies to it. She covered it as she walked over to the now magenta solution. She heard some footsteps coming down the stairs, and rushed to pour the liquids together. She was excited when it started to glow, but failed to notice the bubbling. She parked herself next to the staircase.
"Philippines is a… special case," She heard England say. They turned the corner and came face to face with the excited country.
"I'm the Philippines, nice to formally meet you-"
An explosion hit everyone's ears as orchid slime hit everyone in the face. The glass broke in Philippines hand as everyone now had a slight purple glow to them.
"I can tell we're gonna have a hell of a time," Norway said, wiping some of the goop off his eyes.
"Philippines, if you don't wake up, I'll have to take extreme measures," Norway whispered in the Philippines ear. She shivered, but still refused to wake up. "Okay." Norway got closer and closer to her face as she started growing a blush. Suddenly, she felt her body tense as freezing cold water was poured on top of her.
"You suck so much, Jesus, how could you, CAN YOU CLOSE THE WINDOW?" Philippines jumped up from the impact, the usually tropical country not use to the bitter cold at the Nordics' house. She glared at Norway. He just shrugged and defended himself.
"I said extreme measures."
