The forever piece
Chapter 11: Hoshi family downfall

"You sure this is a good idea?" Kilik whispers to me as we walk arm in arm toward the front door of the Hoshi family's mansion or grand palace or what it now is.

"Yes. This needs to happen." I whisper back while I tighten my hold on his arm. "If I don't do it now, I might not get an opportunity like this one."

Kilik had immediately agreed on coming to Japan, in fact, he was delighted he could come to Japan and help me out. He had always liked my mother and he thought it would be cool to learn more about where I came from along with my mother's past. I was quite excited for him to come to Japan since we hadn't seen each other in a while and it would be good to hang out with him again, even though we wouldn't be hanging out as I had wanted to. Going to a party where my enemy Akane would be at isn't exactly the idea I had in mind when I wanted to hang out with him.

"I know," Kilik looks concerned at me. "But are you sure everything will go as planned? You know as soon as you have made the announcement the whole plan could blow up in your face. The Hoshi family might not let you walk away that simple."

We reach the front door. "It is a risk I have to take." I knock at the front door and a moment later the door slides open.

Clay smiles politely toward us. "Maka." He greets me and I smile gently back. Clay's eyes then wander to Kilik. He tilts his head while he looks Kilik up and down. "I see you brought Kilik Rung with you. I did not expect you to bring him with you, but I guess that is what you will have to take when Soul left for the award dinner."

Seriously, I hate them for always knowing everything that goes on with my life without me even knowing it! It annoys the crap out of me! "Yeah, yeah," I push clay aside and walk inside. "I don't want to hear any more about it!" Kilik follows me and he grabs my hand.

"You were right." He whispers into my ear. "That is creepy. How can they know about that?"

I sigh heavily. "If I only knew."

We both walk inside of a large ball room and there are all the members of Hoshi family. Everybody is wearing something blue, just like their uniforms I had seen. The women wore blue dresses with blue jewelry while the men wore blue ties or simply wore their whole suit in blue. Blue must be the color of their family.

It was exactly like being in a sea except there was no water, just a sea of people.

"Wow…" Kilik looks around at the decoration with sparkles in his eyes. He reminds me of a child who just got a bunch of presents in front of him. "Is this how all the parties you go to looks?"

Definitely not. The decoration is surprisingly, almost entire in blue with some touches of green. The decorations are far from being in Liz's league. The party is kind of plain but the guests do dress up for the occasion even though the decorations don't fit for the event. There is a Japanese orchestra who plays classic Japanese music along with a singer who sings softly. Her voice is drowning in the sound of the orchestra.

"No, you should come to one of Liz's parties. Those are amazing. They are better than these parties." I start tugging at his hand. "Come on, let's find Akane."

"There is no need to try to find me." I almost jump out of my skin and I spin around and there stands Akane really close to me. Quickly I take a step away from him in order to get more space between us. "I'm already here." Akane flashes his straight white teeth and his evil eyes.

"Akane." I hiss through my clench teeth.

"That is my name." Akane says snottily. "What was it you wanted to talk to me about?"

"I don't need to only talk to you." I say as I narrow my eyes at him. "I have something to say to all of the Hoshi family's members."

Akane chuckles and smirks wide. "If have you have to say is that you are firing all of the Hoshi members who are working at your fields, you aren't going to do it."

If I could narrow my eyes even more and give him and even deadlier glare, I would. "I am. You aren't going to run over those workers anymore. It is wrong. They are people and if you are going to work at my fields, then you are going to do everything I say and if you break those rules, you are all fired."

Akane chuckles and he takes a step toward me. "Listen―"

Kilik steps in front of me and stands as tall as he can in order to frighten Akane. "That's close enough."

Akane narrows his eyes and I notice he clenches his hands. The space between his eyebrows is barely there and his jaw is tense. Akane is mad and who knows what he will do. I sure don't want to find out. "We will continue this later." Akane excuses himself and turns on his heel. He disappears into the sea of dancing people.

Kilik sighs and I'm met with a kind and relieved smile. "That was close. Did you see how close he to punch me in the jaw? He was literally going to punch me."

I nod and I look toward the direction Akane went. "He knows I hold the cards. He knows he can't do anything since I am his superior and he is frustrated that he no longer has the power to control my workers."

"Let's just get this over with and get the hell out of here. I'm not very fond of the whole party thing especially since we are surrounded by a whole crowd of people from the Hoshi family." Kilik grabs my hand. "As soon as you have made the announcement, we get the hell out of here before they manage to get their hands on you."

I squeeze Kilik's hand and we start to walk over to the orchestra. Personally I have never mind holding Kilik's hand since when we do hold hands, it never is anything romantically or even emotionally. It is sole support we give each other when we hold hands. Nothing more or less, it is simply a single kind gesture we do to prove we are there for each other through tough times.

We reach the stage and the orchestra stops playing and the singer stops singing. I apologize to her for interrupting before I grab the microphone from her. "Hey everyone, my name is Maka Albarn. I'm the one who owns the paddy fields you are working on." I quickly introduce myself and Kilik stands protectively close to me while his eyes suspiciously wander through the crowd. The sea of dancing couples stops moving and I have their full attention. "I have something very important to announce, I haven't been in Japan for long now. When I first saw the paddy fields I was very sad and disappointed in how you treated my mother along with my workers. That is totally unacceptable." I grip the microphone harder. Here goes nothing. "You can't treat human being like that. That is why I'm taking control of the situation by first firing every member of the Hoshi family that works on the fields."

Instantly the members of the Hoshi family start shouting at me and booing me. Some even starts crying and kneels on the ground.

Finish it. "Humans don't treat other people in that fashion, which is why I don't want anyone of you to return to my paddy fields. If you do, I will have you arrested." I leave the microphone on the stand and Kilik immediately pulls me close to him while we walk off the stage.

"We need to quickly get out of here." He whispers into my ear.

From the corner of my vision I see people following us with their eyes. Men start rolling up their sleeves and loosening their ties. This is bad.

We escape into a door and Kilik slams it shut behind him. Pulling up my dress so it will be easier for me to run, Kilik and I head down the corridor quickly. I wish I had taken more appropriate shoes for running. Heels aren't that good to run in.

Behind us I hear them slam the door open and Kilik quickly opens another door and we find ourselves in a bathroom. Quickly he locks it and curses silently. Outside of the door we hear they run through the corridor and pass the door. Kilik covers my mouth with his hand roughly while he rests his index finger on his lips. Soon there is silence and he uncovers my mouth.

"That was too close." He whispers. His eyes quickly scan through the bathroom in search of another escape route. His eyes soon settle on a window. He releases my hand and opens the window. He curses and slams his fist against the window seal. "Here is the deal, I will climb down the building and you will jump. I will catch you and then we will call a cab. Got it?"

Jumping down the building seems a little bit too risky but I have faith in Kilik. He always was good when it came to climbing walls so I know he will get down safely and he will catch me. "Okay. Be careful."

Kilik smirks and gets up on the window seal. "I always am." Slowly he starts climbing down the wall with the help of the ledges and the stones poking out of the building. Sometimes it is bad to have a palace, it is easier to climb down than a wooden palace, if there are actually wooden palaces, is a different question.

His feet softly hit the ground and he gives me a thumb up. "Your turn."

I nod and pull up the skirt of the dress in order to climb up on the window seal. I shouldn't be doing this at the age I am in. Heck, nobody should be jumping out of windows.

I inhale deeply as I look down at Kilik, with his arm out and ready to catch me in any moment now.

The door suddenly opens and before I know two arms wraps around my waist and pull me away from the window. "Let me go!" I yell loudly as I struggle in his arms. "Kilik! Kilik help me!" I scream at the top of my lungs. My body is then slammed against the wall and my eyes meet Akane's eyes. He smirks wide as he holds my throat tightly.

"Surprise." He says and pulls out a knife from his suit pocket. "You shouldn't have pulled that move." I expected his knife to go toward my throat, but instead the knife sinks into my dress and slices the fabric open. If I could, I would have gasped loudly if his hand wouldn't have gripped my throat so hard. "Now, you are going to learn your place.

The knife keeps slicing up my dress and my bra is reveal. Tears start prickling my eyes as I try to force air down my throat. Is he going to rape me?! I'm sick and tired of people wanting to rape me!

"Stop!" I say but it comes out as choking noises and coughs. Akane forces me into a lip lock and I feel like I'm going to throw up. I try to push him away but he is way stronger than me.

"Don't fucking touch her!" Kilik roars and the next thing I know, Kilik tackles Akane off of me and tackles him into the wall. Without even putting in any effort, Kilik has disarmed him and the knife lies on the ground forgotten. Quickly Kilik bangs his head against the wall and each hit shakes the wall. Akane grunts and moans in pain and before I know it, with one last hit toward the wall, Akane is out like a light.

Akane hits the floor and Kilik takes off his suit jacket and offers it to me. "Take this. We need to get out of here now."

Sniffles and sobs rack my body and tears trickle down my cheeks. With shake hands I get the jacket around me and cover my exposed chest.

Kilik wraps his arm around my shoulders. "Everything will be okay." He whispers into my ear while he soothes me but the damage was already done. Bad memories rise up when Asura tried to get me and the thought of being forced to kiss him, it is revolting. Two guys have kissed me, now Soul isn't the only one. Oh Soul. What will I tell him?
