I think that I mentioned earlier on but I've come to a conclusion to this story finally, after all this is a side story to my other story LIT-TIL and I think that I might be coming to a conclusion to that story soon as well... Anyways, I bring you the last chapter to Reconnecting... please don't hate me for the ending... it was the only thing that me and my muse could agree on... Most of the open ended plot bunnies are going to turn up in LIT-TIL.

Disclaimer: I don't own Transformers

Chapter 15: Let's Start Over

.

.

.

Sam and Mikaela were sitting outside one of the main hangars watching the setting sun.

"What a crazy couple of weeks it's been." Sam mused.

"Yeah I guess..." Mikaela said quietly before taking a deep breath and diving right in. "Look Sam... the reason I called you out here... I know that I screwed up. I remember that much."

"How much do you remember?"

"Egypt, the reason- well reasons I left, the bombing in Tranquility... and bits and pieces of the last few years. I remember the regret. I remember hating myself for not getting up the courage to tell you that I was alive and about the children... I remember writing hundreds of letters each more of disaster than the next..."

"You did send one.. several years back. I... I threw it away. I was mad, heartbroken and worried about what that one letter could say. I mean, my first thought was relief that you were alive... and then the only thing I could think of was why did you leave me. It hurt."

Sam stared at her as she ducked her head to hide her face from his view. "I am sorry, and I can completely understand if you never forgive me."

"Mikaela... Why did you leave?"

"Do you remember the night before you proposed to me?"

"As clear as day... you were very beautiful in the moonlight." Sam grinned.

Mikaela felt herself blush. "What was different the following day?"

"... I don't get what you're hinting at."

"The Allspark Sam! Geez I can't believe how oblivious you are at times. I left because of the Allspark."

"But that doesn't make any sense. The Allspark was in my head."

"Yeah it was."

A mute silence fell between the two of them, Sam staring at Mikaela, she avoiding his gaze as she stared down at her feet before he exploded. "Shit Mikaela, why didn't you say anything sooner? You realize that if the Con's found you-"

"She made me leave. She could sense the danger even if she was a disembodied entity, And after they were born she muted the energy signal to keep them safe.. to keep us safe." To keep Samantha safe... Mikaela added silently.

"Them...? You mean the twins- They have the Allspark in their heads?!"

"... It's a little more complicated than that. From what Ratchet and the others told me they register with the Allspark's energy signature... I'm not even sure that they are completely human anymore with the other things that Ratchet's told me... or how long they'll remain human. It's not fair you know, to me or them... You know what I can remember... from the last ten years of the children? They remind me so much of you. Sam's smart, really smart... granted that could be the Allspark... But she's got you sense of humor. And Dion... he's like a miniature you... just a little more hyper.."

"My mom did say I was hyper as a kid." Sam chuckled.

"They remind me of why I fell for you."

Another silent moment passed between the two.

"How about we start over?"

Mikaela looked up to blink at Sam. "W-what?"

"Let's start over." Sam held his hand out. "Hello my name's Sam. I'm thirty-two years old, and apparently a father to two very special twins."

Mikaela smiled before taking his offered hand. "Hello Sam... I'm Mikaela, and I'll admit that my children are indeed special because they are ours."

"How about we go get some coffee?"

"Okay."
