The door of their shared office opened swiftly before Freddy took a step in and inhaled the similar scent of waxed floors and Windex in the summer heat. He always associated this smell and environment on the first day of school. The air was still warm and thick, allowing him and Bonnie to enter their first few weeks wearing light colored slacks and short sleeved button down shirts, and of course, Bonnie known for sporting his festive bow ties with Freddy choosing to stick to a traditional black one, or sometimes just a regular tie.
Freddy dropped the pile of folders and paperwork on his clean desk. He examined the few things he left behind last year; a few appliances such as a pencil sharpener, a stapler and a dish of paperclips. His eyes then fell on the silver frame decorated with little diamonds, a black and white photo of him and his wife embracing with unbreakable smiles on their wedding day. Looking at the photograph made the larger man smile from ear to ear until he heard distant grunting coming from outside the door.
A tall, more slender man came nudging his way through the doubles door coming from the outside and into the music hall. He juggled with a stuffed satchel slugged over his slim shoulder and a guitar case while searching for his keys in his trouser's pockets. Bonnie was too focused on himself to notice Freddy casually leaning against the door frame to their office, arms crossed smugly. "Hey hot stuff."
Jumping, Bonnie brushed his curly hair away from his eyes and broke out in a goofy grin when he spotted his friend. "I know I know, keep your pants on."
Kicking the young man in the ankle, Freddy observed the ridiculous outfit he was showing off; tan slacks, black suspenders, white button down shirt with short sleeves and his notorious red bow tie with a paisley design. He was going to make fun of him for that until he remembered the guitar case he had, which he was now hoisting on his swivel chair. "Really? You had to bring that all the way from home? We have guitars here too, y'know."
Bonnie gave a shrug before slipping his satchel off and placing it next to his desk. "I like to get personal with the students on their first day, especially the new ones. Sorry that I have a heart."
"Shuddup." Freddy chuckled. Combing his gelled hair back, he patted his pockets for his keys and phone. "I'm going to start the projector. Do you have your flash drive?"
"Yeah, yeah..." Bonnie was unloading his belongings on his desk as Freddy took his leave and headed to the main band room.
A gigantic room, the third biggest in the whole school next o the gym and auditorium, it was recently constructed almost 10 years ago, Freddy being the one music teacher who was here the longest and for seeing the whole project unraveling with the inclusion of his own criticism. About twenty to forty chairs and music stands sat in an almost semi circle fashion with a platform faced towards them accompanied by it's own chair and music stand for him and Bonnie to teach and conduct. Around the perimeter of the room were what looks like kitchen cupboards at first glance but were actually the lockers for the instruments; tiny narrow ones for the piccolos and flutes all the way down to the ones large enough to fit an entire person, mostly reserved for the drum parts and tubas. The front corner near the entrance was a reserved spot for all the awards the music department or band have won in the past years of the school's long existence. If really inspected, a majority of them were won in the past decade which was around the time Freddy was hired and voted Administrator of the Music Department . The rest of the room was mainly decorated in the traditional posters that encouraged students to try their best and work hard, but compared to the other classrooms, Freddy got his aimed towards the band students.
If anyone needed to be thanked for the success the music department has achieved in the last few years, it would be Freddy. He mastered the most instruments and studied music from a young child with private tutors, to college and then with his own mentors. He was sophisticated and always stood with remarkable posture even for being a heavy set man with a large belly. His hair was combed back every day, his clothes wrinkle free and has gained the utmost respect from even the senior members of the school board and facility. Always teased about his charming appearance by the students and hated for his strict rules and curriculum by the kids who don't take his class seriously, Freddy is still a highly favorable teacher among the real band geeks and music lovers, even if they never stepped foot in his class.
As honored as he his, Freddy could get picky. Disregarding the way they act know, Freddy wasn't too keen on Bonnie when he was first hired only a couple years ago. He had learned to get along with the last band teacher he work alongside with, an elderly man who shared the same amount of knowledge about music as the younger Freddy had despite the gap in their age difference. Freddy didn't like the change, and knew the habits he had to keep hidden when working with the old man had a chance of not flying with whoever they decided to hire next. Bonnie, a man fresh out of college with his teaching degree in music, came off as wimpy and not as passionate about music as Freddy suspected. Days passed, however, and through everyday, Freddy discovered more about Bonnie than he did with the old man. They had overwhelming music tastes; they bother enjoyed rock but also appreciate easy going rhythm and blues, and they both appreciate the contribution country has given the music industry but they're not obligated to actually like the music.
The reputation of the Music Department boosted dramatically. Freddy felt more comfortable sharing an office with a man closer to his age, with the same interests. They became close like brothers; literally grabbing one another to give nuggies during lessons, pretending to flirt with each other and making jokes that teachers really shouldn't be joking about. Their relationship got a rise out of the students and as those two short years passed by, the requests from freshmen wanting to take beginners band were through the roof.
Once while writing on the white board, the light from the project was being reflected on Freddy's left hand and the students noticed the glimmer bouncing off from his wedding ring.
"Whoa, Mr. Fazbear, are you married?" One of the older boys shouted from the back row.
Pausing but not turning around, Freddy gave a small nod. "Yes I am."
"Who, to Bonnie?"
Freddy clutched his stomach and let out a howl of laughter before quickly ordering the boy to stop calling out during the lesson.
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
Freddy and Bonnie were a superb duo, and one of their favorite things (and nastiest thing) was to poke fun at the chorus teacher. A bitter, middle aged woman who preferred to talk about her children and how China's schools are beating theirs more than music, was their favorite target and she knew that perfectly well. When the news came that she was going to leave the school for a better position, Bonnie and Freddy seriously wondered if they were the reason that drove her out.
"Who the fuck cares." Freddy said with a dismissive snort and Bonnie agreed.
When Bonnie came in that morning, he had forgotten that they had filled the spot immediately after the old chorus teacher left. Much like when Bonnie first came, both him and Freddy were uneasy about who would be replaced. All they knew that it was to be a woman, to even out the genders in the music positions. Bonnie remembered, not long after they began interviewing for the spot, that Freddy spoke to the assistant principal's and requested them to ask the new teacher if she had any personal feelings about China.
If he had seen her at the facility meeting the day before classes started, Bonnie didn't know. Freddy did tell him halfway through the day that he held a conversation with the new teacher for a good half hour that day, and confirmed to him that she's nothing to be worried about.
"She's around our age, blonde hair, naturally curly, had a previous job teaching chorus at another school..." He scratched his chin, trying to think of anything else until his face broke out in a big grin. "And she's big, like me."
It was the last period of the day, Freddy was in the band room handing out to his students the required books and supplies they needed to bring with them everyday...Bonnie heard this rehearsed line for the whole day, reciting it a few times himself. Although he could mainly hear Freddy's baritone voice that could still be heard through the sound proof padding of the walls, Bonnie heard the piano coming from the chorus room for the first time that day.
At the end of the hallway is the band room. While facing the band room, on the left side were Freddy and Bonnie's shared office as well as the chorus teacher's own office, and then on the right side were the boys and girls bathrooms next to the much smaller chorus room. It had a similar set up as the band room. There were some chairs, but unlike the band room, the chorus room had high risers that took up most of the room. There use to be pictures of the last chorus teacher with past chorus classes on field trips to Broadway, music halls and all of the school's concerts. The walls were barren of them now, probably taken by that teacher. At least the new one had a chance to decorate it however she liked.
Peeking in through the windows of the double doors, Bonnie peered into the chorus room and saw two rows of students standing on the high risers, doing vocal warm ups. His eyes didn't stay on them for too long as he tried to get a view of who was sitting behind the behind. Unfortunately, she was out of sight and he couldn't tell which voice was hers since they were all now practicing together as a group. The music stopped suddenly as the final bell rang and Bonnie gasped before the doors to the band and chorus room opened with eager students. They flooded out of the classrooms and down the music hallway where their voices were drowned out. Bonnie escaped back into his office, trying to catch his breath by being caught off guard. Freddy strolled in not long after the students left, looking pretty pleased with how the day went by. He thankfully didn't start up a conversation with Bonnie, which gave the young man a chance to get a glimpse of the new teacher, which he did.
He barely saw it, but he saw the waves of her black dress stepping out of view, as well as her frizzy blonde hair tied up in a high ponytail that bounced with every step she took. He bit her lip and glanced back at Freddy who was backing up his things.
"I think...I'm gonna say hi to the chorus teacher."
"I think you should." Freddy slipped on his sun glasses. "We will be working with her for now on, anyway."
Rolling his eyes at Freddy's sarcasm, Bonnie decided to gather up his things as well as say hello to her before he went home. Telling Freddy he won't be coming back to the office so he could lock up, Bonnie slipped on his satchel and folders and walked out. It was only a few steps to her office, they were practically right next to each other. The door was open, and there here were window stickers of flowers and butterflies on the small area of glass on the door which gave Bonnie a reassuring feeling that the teacher was already making herself feel at home. He took very short, quiet steps as he peeked in through the door way, and swallowed the sudden gathering of saliva that formulated in his throat the second he laid eyes on her.
She was big, like Freddy said. She wasn't overweight like him, but she definitely had the curves and bumps that were very well defined in the black dress she wore. A black dress that was tight fitting around her hips and breasts but fell lose around her shoulders and her sleeves, which was just thin silky material the flowed beautifully. Her hair was pulled back tightly and a high pony tail but the rest of her hair was messy and golden with a few strands that fell past her face but some of them were held back by the glitter head wrap she had tied.
When he poked in, she was looking down at her desk, searching for something. He couldn't see her face clearly enough, but he certainly wanted to. Finally stepping into full view in the frame of her office door, Bonnie opened his mouth but no words came out. He knew he was going to say hello, but it was caught in his throat. He stood there with his mouth parted, lips twitching into an uncertain smile, and unfortunately for him, his vocal chords made a noise resembling a croak, and it caught her attention. The woman's head lifted up, and Bonnie could see everything.
"Uh...h-hi. Hey."
She had full, red lips that looked puckered, makeup that was pretty heavy but somehow fit her, and deep purple eyes that bore right into him. A little surprised by his appearance, the woman stood up straight, but after taking a little once over look of him, her big lips curled into a warm smile, quirking up a well filled eyebrow. "Well hello."
Her voice was low, and so sultry. Bonnie found himself subconsciously gripping the strap of his satchel.
"Ah, yes...hello. W-we never got to meeting but my name is Bonnie. I'm the other band teacher who works with Freddy...you met him yesterday."
"Oh, yeah." The woman's eyes traveled up towards the ceiling in thought. She played with an envelope she was holding with her fingers. "Very tall man, with a...rotund stomach?"
Bonnie shrugged. "Rotund. Fat. More or less."
The woman let out a hearty laugh and Bonnie smiled, feeling accomplished. Calming herself down, the woman swiftly walked around her desk and gracefully made her way to Bonnie, extending out her hand which adorned many rings and bracelets."
"Pleased to meet you Bonnie, I'm Chica."
