Fafner vs Gundam
Disclaimer: I don't own GBF or OCs used; it belongs to Sunrise and to their owners. I also don't own, just for safety, Soukyuu no Fafner because it belongs to Funimation (by default I think because if you check their YouTube page it's on there) and the company that made the anime. So sorry for crossing so many anime into just one chapter but I also don't own anything about the Fate series by Type-Moon because it belongs to them.
There is a Gunpla Battle going on between two teams in the canyons. Flashes of blue light can be seen zipping across the field while GN Particles can be seen in the discharged form of pink beams. As the fighting goes on, one member is thinking, "We totally didn't prepare for this… WHAT THE ACTUAL HELL IS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE!?" The aforementioned member rushed out of cover and fired a customized Variable Rifle at a purple-winged Gunpla that looked remarkably like Mark Sieben from the Soukyuu no Fafner anime and had a Dragon Tooth equipped with the tooth in the ground.
Two days earlier
I was asking Anew some questions. "So, I just met your sister, Romary."
She interrupted my line of questioning after I said that. "She's no sister of mine."
I arched my eyebrow at this. "What happened between you?"
"She betrayed me, my family." I've heard a lot sticks, but this one is about the same level as Monica's story, so I stuck with her. "My parents were pit fighters, so they made a lot of money fighting arena battles."
"Wait a second, your parents were pit fighters? This is the first time I've heard of this."
"Well, it's not a favorable profession per say, but hey, it paid the bills. Anyways, their support was Romary and myself: we made and maintained the Gunpla and they fought with them. The legendary Mike and Michelle Lorian were pit fighters who made millions in the right arena and with the right bets."
"So what happened?"
"My sister… Romary was offered billions more than what we had, and my parents' money was also offered. So she accepted their deal and built a Gunpla that was obviously on a world-level and combined with one who had world-level abilities, it was a deadly combo. My parents fought him 2v1 because the money was too much to pass on. Then, you can guess what happened after that, and because my parents were desperate, they sent me off to the Gunpla Academy because they had friends who owed them."
"Huh… so that's probably when you heard about Monica."
"Yep: Monica Crain was a student at the academy and I wanted to meet her and know her really badly."
I thought for a minute, then I asked her something that really caught her off guard. "What do you think of Lyle?"
"What do you mean?"
"What do you think of him, seeing as the two of you might as well be dating?" At the mention of dating, Anew started blushing… like I thought, she wasn't a Mary Sue with no emotions, but let's leave that for later.
"Well, Lyle is nice, he's comforting, he's very generous, and he's just adorable." Adorable? There are a million things that could describe Lyle and adorable is not one of them. "He… he really loves his older brother." I shrugged and left her to her feelings.
I encountered Monica outside a little bit later. She said to me, "So, do you think that we can really do this?"
"Do what?"
"Can we make it to the World Tournament?"
I answered without hesitation. "Of course we can, because we're Trailblazers." Monica laughed at that. "It's a bit corny, isn't it?"
"Obviously, but it's a good answer nonetheless." I wrapped my arm around her shoulders and pulled her closer to me. "You're that confident huh?" I just stared into the sunset.
The next day was rather informative, yet nerve-wracking: all of us came home to find out who our next opponents were as their match was today. This match was interesting: two teams of non-Gundam inspired Gunpla were fighting and the teams were Tatsumiya Island and the Anti-Britannia Forces. Team ABF was wrecked because it had just the Lancelot in a wreck surrounded by its allies and whoever was piloting the Lancelot was not in fighting shape; I may not know much about Code Geass, but I think that the Lancelot is supposed to be stronger than most mobile suits from all of the Gundam universes, so I could be surprised if a machine from another mecha universe was able to overpower the Lancelot. I turned around because I thought that the Fafner shouldn't be able to overpower something like the Lancelot. "Battle ended."
I turned around and saw the Lancelot in a wreck on the top of the battle system: there was a hole in the middle of the Lancelot's chest which indicates that a Fafner's heavy beam weapon, such as the Medusa, could have caused, as well as the arms were twisted beyond imagination, the legs were bent the wrong way and the backpack was split in about 5 pieces. "Just who can do this much damage with just four Fafners?" I left early, without knowing who we were fighting next, to gather info on team Tatsumiya Island. So I went to the library just for some reference material on the original Fafner abilities and notable weapons and systems: one that really interested me was the Siegfried System, which was the main system that connected the Fafner's to the one operating Siegfried and its weapons platform in the field, Lindwurm. For weapons it was about the same deal with most mobile suits: primary weapons included beam weapons such as the Medusa, a shoulder-equipped cannon that fired a high-caliber beam, a Garum-44, a standard assault rifle sized up for Fafner use, a Ruga Lance, which was kind of a misnomer because it had the shape of a sword but opened up and can fire a beam as if it were a lance, a Dragon Tooth, which was a sniper rifle that had a tooth to stick into the ground, and so on and so forth. The Fafner's abilities, well the Nothung models because the Gunpla we saw were based on the Nothung models, were actually limited in terms of planes of movement because even though they have the ability to stay in flight for a short amount of time with the exception of two, and those were Mark Sieben and Mark Sechs, they didn't have the gear nor the required physics for it. In all, I have concluded that if they were to use Fafner models that supported flight, we would have to have those with more fire power stay to the rear and those with speed or close range up at the front and try to confront the Fafners; conversely if they chose models while emphasizing fire power, those with high defense stay in front of the shooters with speed taking to the sky and try to bombard them from above. Of course, if they go and orient the battle toward each model's strengths, we'd have to match that rhetoric and pair off each fighter who can match the opponents' strengths. I'm sure that team Tatsumiya is also considering this even if we aren't their next opponents, but I'll just have to wait for Monica to come home to tell me who we're facing in the next round.
One thing is for sure, whoever is fighting them tomorrow will have hell to deal with.
As I headed home, I caught the tell-tale presence of someone watching, but I couldn't place the source because a lot of people have stared at me the same way and plus, there are lots of hiding places in this part of the neighborhood which narrows the list to one which is an impossibility because that person is long dead since childhood. Kyle, why is he coming up now? What that Romary said disturbed me beyond belief: basically suggesting that Kyle was alive is nonsense but those with his ability aren't hard to come by, just basically train them their whole life. Tch, just thinking about this is making me want to punch a wall. After getting home, I immediately went straight to my room to look up any "miracles" that happened in relation to Gunpla Battle and only one result matched what I was looking for. Team Nemesis won the battle as Finland's representative on the first day; normally the battles take about at least a week, depending on where you live, but did Finland rush the battles or did team Nemesis do this? Turns out that team Nemesis did challenge the other teams, and participants say that it was a standard team of four but only one fighter took them out, yet that one fighter didn't move at all: that meant it had to be invisible funnels of some kind but as I read further into the article, the opposing fighters said that it was the work of the Metal Peel Off Effect, but that didn't make sense because the Gunpla has to move in order for that to happen and, as far as I can tell, it required the bio-computer. I was proven wrong again as the article reported that fighters saw moving afterimages with mass dodging every shot the fighters could fire; the afterimages also took one shot and no matter how it was fired, all of the opposing Gunpla were destroyed or seriously damaged to be put out of active duty. I turned off my laptop after reading that article. The only thing that could have done this was the fact that whoever built that Gunpla had the mind to apply the M.E.P.E. to funnels and somehow made the afterimages in the shape of the Gunpla. That was the only explanation I could come up with that made any sense; any other theories would have just screwed with my brain. I turned around and saw the gang in the doorway. "About time you guys came."
Darren was literally the first one to answer. "'About time?' We came here before you did!"
"Are you sure about that?"
Raymond corrected me. "Yes, because you didn't notice because you were deep in thought Kale. That's a dangerous way to walk around."
I grimaced. "Okay, so that's my fault. Well, who are we fighting tomorrow?"
Kaila went next. "Team Tatsumiya Island."
"DAMN IT!"
"What's wrong?"
"I came up with three alternatives for the fight and none of them were good. Sorry Monica, but if you come up with something good, it'll probably be toasted in five."
"What do you suggest then Kale?"
"Go in and hit them hard before they can set up whatever they have planned."
Darren, who was usually up for what I suggested, protested. "What if it's too late and they already have things set up? We'll just be flying to a dead end!"
"Then we split up and take them out one by one."
Kaila was unexpectedly frank. "STOP THINKING IRRATIONALLY YOU IDIOT! START THINKING RATIONALLY!"
It took quite a lot of effort for me to not snap and lash out. "I am thinking rationally. I'm thinking about brute force instead of subtle force. Is there a problem with that?" Without looking, Darren, Kaila and Raymond left the doorway and went out the front door. "What the hell is their problem?"
Monica laid it out for me straight and simple. "You. Ever since you saw Tatsumiya Island's match today, you've been acting weirdly. Did something happen?"
I made fists and undid them and repeated this for about twenty times. "I did research and there should have been no way for a Fafner to overpower a machine like the Lancelot."
"Is there really no way for a Fafner to overpower the Lancelot?"
"There is a way, but I don't want to accept it. It's not the only thing that's bothering me." Monica raised one of her eyebrows in suspicion. "That Romary girl talked about my brother, Kyle, as if he is still alive."
"What happened?"
I closed my eyes because I didn't want to tell anyone outside of my family, but there's no choice because I can't deny Monica anything most of the time. "He was supposed to go abroad to the Gunpla Academy because his skills were unparalleled among those in his age group, but due to an accident with the plane, he died along with the other passengers headed for Japan." She was speechless. "Yeah, so as you know, I wasn't the genius that you thought I was in the first place."
"Did Kyle look like you?"
"Yeah, we were twins; he was the oldest and I was the youngest and as expected of my parents, they paid more attention to my Gunpla because they knew he was too talented for praise, but he was just as needy of it as I was."
"Because I think Kyle is alive." This is the third time that I've heard that someone say that Kyle is alive.
"Monica, Kyle has been dead for years." I put a smile on. "I would know if my brother is alive."
"No, he's definitely alive; I remember seeing someone who looked exactly like you at the Academy and had top marks in every class. He was cold, calculating, exactly the opposite of what the third Meijin looked for in his successor."
"It must've been someone who had the nerve to impersonate him."
"No, I'm telling you the truth. I saw someone who looked exactly like you and he had a Gunpla that even the Meijin considered to be god-like."
"What was the Gunpla like?"
"It was a Wing Zero Katoki version with a green-black paint job, and instead of one shield he had two smaller shields that carried four beam sabers each and the Buster Rifle it had was a Twin Buster Rifle which could become a long-range sniper rifle as well as the regular Twin Buster mode. If your brother was dead, then this person couldn't have his Gunpla, right?"
"It could probably be a coincidence; it isn't that hard to come across people with Kyle's talents and his custom Wing Zero isn't that hard to come across because he posted pictures of it on the internet."
"YOU'RE NOT LISTENING TO ME YOU IMMATURE IDIOT!" That scared me the most. "Kyle is alive and I know it to be true. You just have to trust me on this!"
Later at night, when we were about to sleep, Monica avoided talking to me the whole time until I said "I'm sorry for being a jerk. I've trusted you to do things that I couldn't do and what do I do? I've been a jerk and didn't believe you."
"It's okay, but you're not getting anything in return." It was annoying when she said that, but then again there was no choice, but to say something further, it left a bitter taste in my mouth.
It was the morning of our match and I was the last to wake up because I kept repeating in my head, "What will Monica have us do?" and thus I hardly slept. It's frustrating whenever Monica never tells me what's going on in that head of hers, but I know that when she really gets to think on something, it's well worth the damn wait. I went downstairs to find no one in the kitchen, which suggests that either breakfast was made for me beforehand and refrigerated or my mom went out to buy something and is telling me to pick up Lyle from the bus stop. I decided to go down to the basement because that's where we keep our battle system and is most likely where Monica will be if she's planning our strategy right now. As I opened the basement door, I heard Monica moan in disappointment, in anger even. "Monica?" I went even further down the steps and found Monica sitting in one of the chairs we kept down here, with a laptop in her lap, and the system on with lifelike projections of our Gunpla and the enemies Gunpla. "What's eating at you?" She didn't say anything nor did she even move, as if she was just petrified. "Monica?" I touched her shoulder and her reaction was kind of hard to put into words.
"EARGBLERGH!" She also did some weird octopus thing with her arms and she even… I don't even know what to call the last thing she did… ran around the room just touching things… I swear I don't know if it's an OCD thing or if it was just a strange, yet perfectly explainable reaction to having her shoulder tapped. She then stopped in front of the machine and turned to me. "Please don't do that because it scared the crap out of me!"
"What the hell was that just now?"
"It's a rare reaction whenever I get really angry at something and then I somehow trap myself in my head so that the slightest touch will be like shocking me, or something to that extent."
"Uh-huh. Anyways, I came down here to see if you were here and then I heard you moan because something went bad, I assume. Are you having trouble, Sumeragi-san?" My little nickname for her whenever she has trouble with planning something, which is rare, hence little.
"It's this stupid simulator! I've gone through all valid methods of approach and they all go wrong towards the end!"
"Well, nothing goes according to plan Sumeragi-san. It just happens." Did she really forget about one factor? "Did you forget to factor in the pilot's emotions?"
"Crap, I forgot about that."
"Well, that was one of the weaknesses of Sumeragi's tactics during most of the first season, which should really have been season one then two, but Sunrise did it that way to have more free reign over how they would produce the 'second' season."
"Tell me about that, why is it first and second and not just 'first'?"
"Because a broadcast season in Japan is about 11-12 weeks, give or take a few weeks, and that's usually when a new opening comes out with the episode, but there are exceptions to the 'new opening' rule. A broadcast season is also called a cour, not that most people would know about it anyways because of various reasons."
Monica paused for a second. "Why are we even talking about this even though the match is today?"
"Hm? It's because you need to relax and take your mind off of what's bothering you. Not even the greatest minds can do things without a short break."
"Hahaha! Thanks genius."
"Mondaiarimasen, Sumeragi-san." I walked upstairs and said one last thing. "It's cute whenever you pout."
"Don't say things like that! It's really embarrassing."
"But I like teasing you, because it's fun to watch your reactions. Later!" I walked out the door to the bus stop that Lyle would be arriving at. On a side note, I couldn't help but feel as if some massive flak will be coming my way, not now, but soon. I pushed away any negative feelings and just focused on finishing this task and then on to hearing Monica's battle plan. As Lyle's bus passed by, the bad feeling came back and I more or less guessed that the reason why I'll be getting flak soon will be because that Lyle invited Anew over and as soon as the bus door opened, both of them stepped out. "WHAT THE ACTUAL HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU!?"
Lyle, totally unprepared for my reaction, went like, "What's wrong?"
My eyebrows twitched angrily and repeatedly. "You invited a girl over without Mom or Dad's permission!"
"What's the big deal?"
"The last time this happened, no girl would approach me at school. Just… tell them, if they ask, that I invited Anew over."
"Ooooookaaaaaay." They took their luggage and went the direction I came from. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH MOM AND DAD ARE GOING TO KILL ME! I flipped out as I mentally yelled this with giant waving motions of my arms. To bystanders, it might as well have been the classic cartoon version of a chibi version of me waving my arms and the waving could be seen as those vertical lines to indicate that I was moving my arms really fast. After about a half minute of that, I finally went back to see how Anew was accommodating herself in the house, yet, as soon as I get to the front door, the gang comes bursting out of the basement door from the back of the house, and by the way, my house is one of those old houses where there's a door to the basement which can be accessed from the outside of the household.
"What the hell are you guys doing?" Monica and Raymond shrugged, but Darren and Kaila snickered like crazy. "Okay, what are you two doing?"
Kaila started off with, "We left the basement as an experiment to see if they would go at it like jackrabbits if they thought that no one was in the house."
Darren ended with, "All we're doing is waiting to see if that will happen."
I inhaled a large one and exhaled as smoothly as possible. I followed up with, "WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU TWO!? YOU DO REALIZE THAT IF MY PARENTS COME HOME TO FIND THEM GOING AT IT, THEY WILL KILL ME!?"
Darren, who was closely becoming more like the evil Darren, said, "Well I'd love to see that in person!"
"Just shut up and let's leave for the match." I wouldn't worry too much about things going out of hand because Lyle is too innocent to really know anything about what the two idiots were suggesting, but it's because of his innocence that he wouldn't know anything.
"But we wanna see… OOOOOOOOOOW!" I yanked on their ears and dragged them behind me.
"Just come with me." We were about a couple of feet away from the building when we heard Lyle and Anew come up from behind us. "What're you two doing here?"
Anew interrupted Lyle. "Well, no one was in the house and Lyle told me that we should go and watch your match." Thanks for the save Lyle. "And here we are."
Lyle spoke up now. "Speaking of which, where do you want to sit Anew?"
"I actually kinda want to sit or stand in the back."
Lyle completely went puppy eyes on her. "Really? I love the back too!" They then walked away as they continued to talk, apparently ignoring us in the process.
Darren broke the silence. "Did that just happen?"
Monica, who was surprised that the two broke into a casual conversation about where to sit as if they were going to see a movie, said, "Yeah, that just happened." I let go of Kaila and Darren's ears, and they started to caress their ears, so I could scratch my head. Monica tapped me on my shoulder. "Kale, I forgot that you need to hear the plan." I lowered my head so she could whisper the plan to me.
When she finished, I pulled my head back and went, "Really? I had a feeling that I needed that, but I didn't think I'd really need it."
"Of all the things to ask me, that's the one thing you ask?"
"What? I haven't played that role in a while, so it'll be a bit hard for me to do one shot one kill."
"It's okay, I'll adjust accordingly."
"Alright, if you say so." We kept on walking, keeping the silence among us. Looking back, we've come a long way from our old selves: Darren became more docile, Kaila became gutsier and something else I can't describe, Raymond became more expressive while being economic with his words, Monica was more open and bright and many other positive things, I became different in a way that I can't describe and it makes me think if Monica and I will stay together after this; once we go through senior year of high school, everyone will go their different ways and even though I want Monica with me wherever I go, I know that she can't always be with me. As we continued to walk, I was in the zone and heard nothing until I walked into a pole. "Why didn't anyone warn me about that?"
Raymond shook his head. "Like I said, dangerous to walk as such."
Monica put her head in her hands. "Anyways, let's get to the building. We don't want to be late for anything."
We progressed and made it to the front door until we heard my name called out. "Kale Cassel, just go home because we, Tatsumiya Island, will absolutely troll your stupid trailers!"
I just hate these kinds of declarations, so I responded in kind. "Yeah? What makes you think so, fisherman?"
A voice belonging to one of the other members said, "Kizu, don't do this."
"Relax Mimi, I got this." He proceeded with his taunts. "Your stupid Trans-Am won't save you from our S-class tactics, coming from Shin."
Darren jumped right in. "Oh, what does the 's' stand for? Shitty?" I have to admit, that was a good one.
"It means subarashi or splendid, even magnificent."
"That means it should be M-class for mutt!"
Two other members intervened before it got out of hand. "Kizu, stop this for Christ's sake!"
"What Kenny said, you can't just declare a win so suddenly!"
"Caroline, you just don't understand, seeing as you're a new member of the team, but it's important to assert your victory because it'll happen! It always happens when you assert your victory." Typical Kizu logic. "Well Kale, remember how I beat you badly last year?"
"Enough of this shit Kizu! If you want to settle it, then let's do it in there, in the arena!"
He grunted. "Well said! That's why you're my rival!"
Later in the building, we assembled for our match. "Gunpla Battle, combat mode startup. Model damage level, set to B. Please set your GP Base." All of us did as instructed. "Beginning Plavsky particle dispersal. Field 9, Canyon. Please set your Gunpla." As I expected, Tatsumiya Island put down a Lindwurm as their battleship and Mark Sein, Mark Drei, Mark Acht and Mark Sieben based Gunpla. "Battle start."
Shin gave them the order to launch. "Tatsumiya Island Fafner unit, launch!"
Before I started to launch, Monica opened a channel. "That Kizu you were arguing with, is he the reason why you reacted so horribly?"
"It's fine Monica, just drop the matter for now."
"If you say so."
"Crossbone Zabanya, Kale Cassel, deru!"
As the Crossbone Zabanya came out of the hatch, it took a layer of optical camouflage and inserted itself into a small divide in one of the canyons higher up, as per the plan that Monica came up with. As it was setting up for a long range solution, the Seravee Fortress took to the skies and stopped before it would pop out of the battle system's range, the Raiser Dash took cover at a nearby hill, waiting for Monica's signal, who had put Ptolemy down just as the Diva did when the Phantom 3 shot one of its thrusters. Harute was standing by in Ptolemy's third hatch, also waiting for Monica's signal.
Kale ticked off what he had to do and what he had prepared. "Sight the enemy and mark them, fire on Monica's signal, fire on the Mark Sieben Gunpla… GN Sniper Rifle II in check, all shields ready, remote weapons to be released at the moment of the first shot." Kale was about to go over the list again when Monica opened a channel again. "What is it Monica?"
"Just tell me what happened."
Kale moaned. "What did I say? Drop the ma…" Kale noticed, through his peripherals, irregular movement on his monitor and zoomed in on the exact spot. He observed carefully and saw hints of light green, white and orange moving between the canyons. "Enemy spotted. I request permission for long range solution."
"Permission granted. Wait for my signal." Monica contacted the other three members of their team and likewise said the same thing to them. They waited for about half a minute before Mark Acht, the light green Gunpla, came into view for all to see. "Zabanya, fire now."
"Roger that. Zabanya, mokuhyou wo nerai utsu!" Kale took five shots at Mark Acht, all of which would have hit if not for the Solidus Fulgor-inspired Aegis Shield, which is a mini version of a Welle Shield which is big enough to shield an island. "Tch, because of that shield, I need more power and I don't want to use that. Aiming at target two!" He changed his current position so that he was aiming Mark Sieben and as he was doing so, he deployed Rifle and Shield Bits. "Target: Mark Sieben. Kougeki kaishi." Kale fired volley after volley of beams at Sieben and to either destroy its Dragon Tooth rifle or damage it enough to decommission it. This is what Kale had hoped would happen, but instead Kizu got in the way with some sort of dummies and Kale connected that back to Universal Century tactics of deploying dummies to confuse or stall an enemy.
Kizu stood in front of Mimi's Gunpla and extended Mark Sein's right arm which was holding a Ruga Lance. "I see you like to fight long range battles as usual. Do you want to taste this lance's beam?" The Ruga Lance opened from the "hilt" to the tip of the blade and blue energy started to emerge in the gap. "Bye bye Kale." As Kizu fired, instead of a small beam, a large beam equivalent to a Lohengrin or even a Tannhäuser shot emerged and went straight for Kale.
"Tch!" Kale dropped the GN Sniper Rifle II, deployed his Solidus Fulgor shields and dropped down the canyon side into the valley. As the beam barely passed him, Kale took it to himself to call down the rain. "Kaila, you saw that huge blue beam right? I want you to fire a heavy barrage at the source."
"You sure about that order?"
"The main objective of the plan was to find the biggest threat and eliminate that one first. The Mark Sein Gunpla is obviously the biggest threat here!"
Monica came in after I said my piece. "What he says confirms my calculations: of all the enemy Gunpla that we're facing now, Mark Sein is the strongest, therefore the biggest threat to the team. I'm adjusting the plan, so Kaila, fire off 12 shots from your SigMaxiss Cannons then fire off a Hyper Burst." Monica then turned her attention to Darren and Raymond respectively. "Darren, I'll open the hatch so you can start bombardment runs. You have your missile/bomb attachment on right?"
"Yup. They're raring to go."
"Excellent. Raymond, run interference and pull two of the enemy Gunpla away from the immediate area of the operation."
"Very well."
"Ready? Operation starts now!" Kale had his Rifle Bits surround Kizu's Gunpla and fired them simultaneously in conjunction with Kaila's bombardment; Raymond pulled out of his hiding spot and engaged Mark Drei head on; Darren rushed out of the hiding Ptolemaios' hangar and started locking onto the targets that he could see. This is what they had planned but instead the opposition tore their plan to miserable pieces: Kizu's Mark Sein took Gegners out and shot at Kale's Rifle Bits in a roundabout fashion, Mimi's Mark Sieben shot at Kaila's Seravee Fortress' legs to throw her off aim, Kenny's Mark Acht fired its Medusas at the bombardment pack that Darren's Harute had equipped and that subsequently took Darren's thrust down quite a bit, Caroline's Mark Drei just took Raymond's Raiser Dash's swords until he paused slightly to repose which was when she used Drei's Energy Fist (A/N's: And I kid you not, this is an actual weapon belonging to the Fafners.) to knock Raiser Dash on its rear through an abdomen shot.
Kale took the risk of moving out of cover to fire at Mark Sieben. "We didn't plan for this at all!" He managed to pull three shots before Mimi shot through his customized Variable Rifle. "To the skies then!" Kale attempted to ascend, only to be kicked in the face by none other than Kizu. Due to the strength and angle of the kick, the Crossbone Zabanya went crashing into the place where it was initially camped at with most of the plastic on the head unit either collapsed in on itself or broken such that it was like a piece of bone sticking out and piercing through the many layers of muscle and skin that was designed to protect the bone. "Why?"
To themselves, team Tatsumiya Island said, "Because Shin is a fabulous tactical planner and can even see through everything you do."
Behind the lights of her artificial cockpit, Monica was crying due to the degree of how the team got beaten, especially in the amount of time it took to beat them. "It was going to go perfectly, I feel like Sumeragi when she made the goddamn mistake that lead to Tieria and Allelujah to reveal weapons not yet to be revealed!"
Kale opened a channel. "Monica, I know we resolved to not do so, but permission to proceed with plan T."
At this point, Monica was willing to do anything, so she gave permission. "Act on your own from here on out."
"Thank you." Kale relegated the use of plan T to the others. "I'm also doing something that is complete bullshit, but I'll use it." He went through weapon selection to find his other [SP], the Bio-computer system. "Trans-Am!" Before the Crossbone Zabanya would turn into the signature red that characterizes Trans-Am, the wrecked face plate on the head unit fell off and revealed a face plate similar to that of the F91 or Crossbone Gundam's face plate when it was opened.
Kizu positioned his Ruga Lance above his head. "I said your stupid Trans-Am won't save you!" He brought the lance down, which buried itself into the simulated environment.
*Cue in FIGHT from Mobile Suit Gundam 00*
The Crossbone Zabanya zipped in circles around Mark Sein. "Heh, do you think zipping around me will save you!?" Kizu directed Mark Sein to attack to his left which the Crossbone Zabanya would make contact with.
Kale, under the strain of using the Bio-computer system to its fullest capacity, managed to say, "Yes, because I can analyze what you're going to do as the Gunpla sees and feels it." Like a swallow that is able to sense even the slightest change in air vibrations, as described by Assassin from Fate/Stay Night, Kale is able to dodge the strike that was meant for him: he directed the Crossbone Zabanya into a flip maneuver as if he was performing the classic gymnastics maneuver of flipping in an oval-like fashion before touching the bar.
Kizu looked behind him as Kale performed this maneuver. "Shin, what do you see?!" Shin, team Tatsumiya Island's strategist, simply did nothing but leave his mouth on the floor. "Shin!" Kizu looked again and saw the Crossbone Zabanya with a pair of GN Sword IIs. "Kuh! Let's dance then trailer!"
As Kizu and Kale crossed swords, Darren and Kenny engaged in a sort of speed battle. "Trans-Am!"
Kenny immediately started firing with a Garum-44 in every-which-direction in an attempt to hit Darren. "Mark Acht isn't so good at speed, but if I drop the Medusas, then I can match his speed." Kenny purged the Medusas and proceeded to follow Darren on land.
Darren, all the while, was dodging bullets like crazy and searched for an opening to Hallelujah his opponent. Instead of just waiting for an opening, he made a U-turn and charged straight for Kenny. "If I'm doing something crazy, then I'll do this!" Darren shifted Harute from MA mode to MS mode and converted the two GN Sword Rifles into a classical Kyrios/Arios scissor weapon.
To avoid similar fates suffered by unlucky soldiers in the anime, Kenny deployed his Aegis Shield in front and opened it such that it would surround him. "This Aegis Shield can hold against your scissors!"
Darren, unexpectedly, quoted from Gundam Wikia. "Solidus Fulgor shields, or the like, can fluctuate under the conditions that the attacks are too powerful for the shield to take." At first glance, there was nothing special about Darren's Harute. What was hidden was a pair of GN Submachine Guns mounted on the arms like Arios. In addition to the GN Sword Rifle's rifle mode, which was in between the two blades in the combined scissor mode, Darren theorized that he had enough power to make the Aegis Shield fluctuate. On the overhead screens, Darren can be seen widening his left eye as he turned his left side towards the cockpit's main screen. "Let's go crazy!" Darren fired what was left of his arsenal. The Aegis Shield's fluctuations could actually be seen on the big screens.
To get away from Darren, Kenny had Mark Acht kick the ground to get some air, did a 360 and managed to kick Harute's body away. Kenny managed to get out, "Get away from me!" in a tone that said he was fearful.
"You can't hide your fear from me!" Darren kept zipping around Kenny until he deployed his GN Scissor Bits to confuse Kenny. It didn't take Darren long to get his GN Scissor Blade on Kenny's back. "It end's now!" The scissor blade closed causing Kenny's Gunpla to become bisected. The resulting explosion caused a GN Particle cloud to appear.
Kaila's battle was too short as it was: she detached Seraphim and transferred all of Seravee's weapons to the detached Gunpla. "Trans-Am!" She deployed a GN Field and fired a field blast, which constituted of a deployed GN Field as the medium/enhancer and a concentrated blast from any ranged GN beam weaponry, at Mimi's Mark Sieben. The blast had a large enough radius to cover any route of escape: Mark Sieben was annihilated on the spot.
Raymond's battle progressed as slowly as Kale's did. "Trans-Am!" Raymond did what he had to do to escape Caroline's barrage of Energy Fists: he put the GN Buster Sword III's in a defensive pose with the "flat" sides bearing the brunt of the blows until Caroline's barrage paused for a recharge. Raymond then dashed away for a brief moment before firing GN Vulcans at her already deployed Aegis Shield.
"You know, for someone called Devil Ray, you're not much."
Raymond replied in kind. "For someone who uses a Fafner-based Gunpla, it's impressive but low."
Even for someone, such as Raymond, who knows that Gunpla is freedom, that was a low hit, however that hit was good enough to get Caroline aggravated. What Raymond did not expect was that it would aggravate Caroline beyond normal limits. "You dare say that about the Fafners!?"
Caroline took out her Ruga Lance again and started slashing while exerting more power on each slash as if she had become the Berserker-class Servant from the Fate series by Type-Moon. "You, what are you doing?!"
"Justifying your mistake!" The trait that characterizes the Berserker-class Servant is that even though they lose the more refined parts of their minds, they still hold control of their craft or their reason to fight, to an extent.
Raymond was able to feel this through her angered frontal assault. Raymond was troubled already due to his constitution to long, exhausting yet intense battles or short, heavy battles, but he swore to hold out until he found an opening in her assault. As it turns out, Caroline also had an unsavory constitution and her "Berserker" mode wore on her constitution more than fighting regularly; Raymond used the opportunity provided when she slowed her assault to deal an intricate strike: Raymond first directed Caroline's Ruga Lance to the left using his right sword, then he twisted counter-clockwise to chop the arm wielding the Ruga Lance off with his left sword. "That's step one."
Caroline did not take this too well as she dashed straight into Raymond's "blind spot", right in front of him, and said, "My Drei!" while serving Raymond's Raiser Dash an Energy Fist sandwich.
He purposely took the blow to draw her in. "That's step two!" Raymond then quantized behind Caroline's Mark Drei and bisected Mark Drei across its pelvis, or the stomach area. "Your own anger dealt you this defeat."
Back to Kale's ongoing battle: both Kizu and Kale were indecisively trading blows and the sparks from when their swords clash can obviously be seen from across the field and on the big screens. His allies' "deaths" did not go by unnoticed and during every break now and then, Kizu would call to his allies or Shin for a sitrep. "Mimi, Kenny, Caroline! Shin, what's going on?!"
The last time that Shin replied gave Kizu no insight except for, "The Lindwurm is under attack! You need to come back!"
Kizu deflected another sword strike and replied with, "Got it, I'm coming back!"
As Kizu turned to go towards the Lindwurm's direction, Kale got in front of him. "Don't run!"
Kale dashed again with both GN Sword IIs in front of him in an X. "You persistent trailer!" Kizu thrusted his Ruga Lance as if he was thrusting with a fencing sword or rapier.
This proved to be his mistake as Kale twisted away to his right and chopped Mark Sein's left leg off. "In your own haste you forget to fight properly!"
"Because you threw me off!" Kizu turned clockwise to slash at Kale yet again.
Kale, using the bio-computer system, countered the incoming slash: he dropped the GN Sword IIs and clasped the Ruga Lance as Setsuna did with Mister Bushido's Susanowo's Souten and broke it likewise. He then maneuvered closer into Mark Sein's personal space because he knew that Kizu was making a motion to grab for the Mine Blade and drew and embedded his hip beam sabers into Mark Sein's core and head unit. "This is my fight!"
Before the battle system called the match, several teams from other states in the US and other continents around the world, who were at this specific center on this specific day, commented on the Trailblazer's performance.
Team Norma's leader from California noted that "Looks like I did look down on them. This year will be particularly fascinating."
Lead Shuffle's leader and one of its other members were talking quietly amongst each other. "See Izuru? There are builders, and fighters, that are as skilled, or better, as you."
"So, am I supposed to be impressed by that Yoo-hwa?"
The Italian team was in full assembly that day and making notes of their own. "Well Raul, seems like you'll have some words and feelings to trade with them."
"Altus, I'll decide that for myself, but Devil Ray is a person of interest."
Someone who looked like Lacus Clyne from SEED Destiny said to the two, "Would you stop that? I can't seem to focus right now because of two battle-roused gentlemen."
The man in charge of the Italian team, Ricardo Fellini, gave the Lacus-look-alike, Ayano, some words. "Let them be, anyone would be roused by this battle."
Yajima Trading's own Athrun Castleton and Julio Rio were in attendance. "Julio, do you know why I'm paying close attention to the Trailblazers?"
"Because Alice asked you to?"
Athrun hid his guilty face. "Yes, but also because of my own interests."
Two other individuals, one Meijin Kawaguchi the Third and one Shion Makabe, in disguise, were the least likely to be in attendance. "How is it Shion? Does a battle such as this move you?"
"It's nothing really, but I'm learning to appreciate it."
Last but not least, the team that made the news in less than one minute of their miracle, "chatted" amongst themselves as well. "As expected of him, to pull something risky off and manage to end it efficiently."
"Yeah yeah, but that bitch of his is nothing without her support."
"It'll be no big deal to make him mine."
"Kysel, you do realize that their goals differ from ours?"
"I understand that Amelia, but I can work with those goals weave them into our own. All to change our small world."
"Battle ended."
Finally, that battle from hell ended. Aside from Raymond stabilizing himself on the battle system's top, I fell on my bottom, exhausted from using the bio-computer system. "At least I wasn't fighting someone who was using the Zero System or some other predictive battle assist because I would've lost then and there."
Monica, who noticed the tired me, came to my side and lent me her shoulder. "You alright, you crazy oldtype?"
I put my head down in shame. "Yes, I'm alright Sumeragi-san."
Kale: I surprisingly feel naked, and it's not because I might actually be naked.
Monica: But we should heed the signs.
Raymond: That shall tell us to watch over our Gunpla.
Kaila: And over a certain monkey from volunteering us for something we didn't hear about.
Darren: Next time, "Maryland's Gunpla Convention".
Kale: Onegai, ore no Crossbone Gundam!
Kysel: Aitsu wo hakai!
So, sorry for the long wait on the update. I was fettered by things in life like school and my YouTube channel which you should totally go and look at!
