So, uh hi! it's been a while, but someone (Miss Mello) asked me to update so better late than never I suppose! Also the thing with Ringo being in the band already screwed with my brain, so sorry about that confusion, but Here's chapter Seven!
A ride with Ringo was not lovely. It was quiet and awkward and clearly not something Kristy ever wanted to to again. It was nice of him to give her a ride, but her heart ached every time she looked at him. How could he lead her on like he had? He didn't seem to be that sort of guy.
When they reached her house Ringo didn't move to get out with her. A small sigh escaped her as she opened her car door and started to get out. Only he grabbed her hand suddenly.
"Kristy," he said quickly, "I just want to say that I'm sorry." She looked at him, pulling her hand free.
"What for?" She asked slowly, feeling like maybe they still had a chance.
"I don't know what came over me yesterday. I didn't mean to lead you on the way I did." And then maybe they didn't have a chance.
"Right," she said clearing her throat, "because I've been nothing but nice to you since the second I met you, so hey! Why not rip my heart to pieces, right?" She got out of the car and slammed the door behind her. She didn't bother stopping when he called her name. She had reached the bottom of the front steps when he caught up to her.
"Kristy, I didn't mean to hurt you!" He said loudly. She was too shocked he'd yelled to respond, "I was ill and then I met you and I suddenly felt better! I took you to see a film and we had fun! We danced and I kissed you! I was awestruck you effected me so severely! I didn't know what to do!"
"So what do you want me to do?" She asked, forgetting to hold back the tears she felt coming up, "You want me to forget what happened? Or are you just reminding me about it because you're that cruel?"
"No!"
"Then what, Ringo?" She was frustrated and confused and hurt all wrapped into one. "I fell so in love with you in such a short time that I don't know what to do! You don't seem to care about my feelings at all, so I'm trying really hard to figure out where I went wrong here!"
"You didn't do anything wrong!" Ringo tugged on the ends of his hair in slight frustration. Kristy didn't think had any reason to be frustrated, but she evidentially didn't know what he was feeling. "I'm the one that messed it up! I can't do this couple thing with you, and it's my fault you're upset! I was trying to apologize!"
"Well guess what you jerk!" She didn't really make it a question. It was more of an ending to their conversation. She went inside her home and slammed the door. No one seemed to be home, so she went upstairs to her room and flopped onto her bed. None of that argument made any sense to her.
Wiping her nose on her sleeve she realized she was still wearing his jacket. Making a face, she took it off quickly and sat down behind her drum kit. She decided she was going to bang her anger and hurt out before she exploded.
It was completely unfair what he'd done to her. She thought he was a nice guy. She thought he felt the same way she did. She was wrong on everything. She was a stupid sixteen year old little girl who managed to screw up her feelings over a stupid guy.
And it was the worst feeling she'd ever experienced.
Kristy woke up to a phone call. She was curious as to what time it was when she remembered everything the last week had brought her. It started good but went into a downward spiral from there. There was the stuff with Ringo, but then there was that she caught his illness and she couldn't go with the band to London. She only wished she could have gone to give them some support. She had no desire to see Ringo at all. She still wished she could have been there for comfort when the directors told them they weren't the sort of group they were looking for. George had called her and told her how it went. Apparently they showed up late on accident and then no one seemed to be on beat. It had be a disaster. She felt sorry for them.
She was mostly better yet the time they wandered back to Liverpool, and they all, aside from Ringo, stopped by to say hello.
"We would have brought you soup, but none of us know how to cook." George teased as he and the others sat on her couch.
"That's okay, I'm better now." She said waving him off. Paul and John laughed and so went on the conversation. They invited her to a gig that had at the Cavern Club later that evening, and they told her exactly what happened at Decca and how Ringo was in a pissy mood the whole trip. She knew she was to blame for that, but she didn't tell them about it. They all had a generally nice conversation, and when they got up to leave, Kristy found she was sad to see them go. They said they'd see her later, but really she didn't feel like going to see them play. She didn't want to risk seeing Ringo.
Later in the afternoon, a mate came over and started jabbering about how her mother said she could stay out late so she could watch the Beatles perform in the Cavern Club! She was so excited, Kristy couldn't say no when she asked her to join her.
So an hour later, Kristy was putting on a clean pair of jeans and a new blouse while Sarah freshened up her makeup in the bathroom. "Are you sure you're cool with coming along?" She called down the hall. Kristy sighed and found she couldn't answer truthfully.
"Of course I am! Besides, you're a mate and we don't hang out enough!" She said pulling on her shoes. She blew her hair out of her face as Sarah came back, ready to go. They went downstairs and Steve smirked.
"Where you two goin'?" He asked putting his book down. Kristy rolled he eyes and put on her jacket.
"Cavern, don't wait up." She pulled Sarah behind her outside. She laughed and they headed toward the Cavern Club together.
"Steve is still the cutest guy I've ever seen." She said giggling girlishly.
"Oh just you wait until you see the Beatles." Kristy said teasingly. Sarah laughed her pretty eyes rolled as they went on their way.
When they arrived, the line to get in was pretty short, so they were inside in only a few minutes. Sarah marveled at the entire place while Kristy walked up to the bandstand where Paul and George were setting up for their set.
"Oi, lads, I brought a mate so you better play like never before." She said, starling them. She laughed and Paul nearly fell down. George came to the edge of the stage and sat down so he was closer.
"I didn't think you'd come." He said poking her shoulder. She rolled her eyes at him and shrugged.
"My mate Sarah asked me to come along with her." She said honestly. George laughed and shook his head.
"You are such a push over." He sighed. She shrugged again as Sarah came up and grabbed her hand.
"Oh my gosh I thought I'd lost you!" She said, making Kristy laugh.
"It's a small joint, Sarah." She sighed, "Anyways, this is George. He's the guitarist for the group. Over there is Paul. He's bass."
"Hiya," Sarah said, catching George's eye. Kristy smirked and saw George pause for a second. He cleared his throat and offered his hand to her.
"Hello."
"George, come on, we go on in a mo!" Ringo called from his kit. George got up and Kristy looked way from them. She didn't want to even look at him.
"Hey, Kris, is that the bloke you like?" Sarah asked pulling her arm. She was being much too loud and Kristy shushed her violently.
"Which? George?" She asked raising her eyebrows. Sarah nodded and clasped her hands together.
"No, he's completely free as far as I know." She said, knowing Sarah already liked him. "So is Steve still the cutest guy you've ever seen?" Sarah laughed and shook her head.
"No way. George totally beats him out of that slot." She said blushing. Kristy laughed and rolled her eyes.
"You're adorable." She teased, "Anyway, if you like him that much I'm sure he'll dance with you later if you want me to ask him for you." Sarah's eyes got wide.
"Oh my gosh, Kris you'd do that?" She asked excitedly. Kristy laughed as the music started.
"Sure, Sarah."
