Ice: Finally back with a new chapter, hope you enjoy it!
A few days had passed since Link's near-drowning experience with Ruto. He was beginning to really hate Navi and her ideas. He was just fine on his own. Certainly didn't need a woman taking all his hard earned Rupees from him. He was quite capable of spending them just fine on his own.
Navi had been fairly quiet which was odd. She was never silent for long. It was worrying Link, but he didn't want to find out what was going through her mind either. He decided on some lunch and had just sat down to eat when she approached him.
"Hey! Listen! I know that didn't go very well the other day, but-"
"NO! No more dates! I'm done. They're all crazy and try to get me killed."
"That's called fun, but-"
"Fun for who?! I'm not having fun!"
"Whatever. Just listen."
"Fine, but I won't like it!"
"Nayru is-"
"Oh my goddesses! What's happened to Nayru?!" He shrieked as he leapt up.
"Nothing, idiot," Navi rolled her eyes, "she's in town visiting. I thought you might like to go see her and maybe spend some time with her."
"...Is this another of your schemes?"
"No, but just so happens I bumped into her yesterday. We talked, you're meeting her later today for some karaoke."
"Navi..."
"Hey! She suggested it herself, not me!"
"Fine, fine..." He grumbled as he got up and picked out his best tunic, "where am I meeting her at?"
"That Bombchu Gallery place. They're trying to keep it open at night for adults with karaoke it seems. Not a bad idea really."
"That place? This doesn't seem bad at all..."
With that, he was dressed and headed out to town. It couldn't be so bad this time. Harmless karaoke after all. Nothing to worry about it. Not to mention, he would be there with the super cute goddess from Labrynna. What could go wrong?
It was late afternoon when he finally wandered into town. He was getting nervous, but kept telling himself this was good harmless fun...this time... He finally spotted Nayru looking at rugs from a questionable merchant. He hurried over.
"Nayru! It's good to see you!" He called.
"Oh, Link! Navi said you'd be in town today. I was just looking at these rugs. The house has been a little drafty lately and I thought a rug might be nice," she said still picking through rugs.
"You probably don't want any of these rugs... I bought one once. Terrible idea. Stepped on it like you normally step on a rug. Turned to dust under me. Waste of good Rupees."
"Really? How awful! I suppose I won't be buying one from here then. What a shame," she exclaimed as Link put an arm around her and walked towards the Bombchu Gallery.
Link couldn't resist looking back at the merchant and sticking his tongue out. The merchant was livid, but then he had been the one to sell an inferior rug for a high price. Link was quite content with himself.
"So this is where they decided to hold karaoke..." he thought.
"Can we go? It would be so much fun! Please?" begged Nayru.
"I thought... Yeah, sure, we can go," he agreed as he wondered if Navi really did set this up or not.
They went in and found a table. Several other from the kingdom and beyond were already inside waiting for turns. Heads turned as the two walked to an empty table. Link hoped the light was dim enough to hide his red face. Nayru seemed delighted with the place.
As they sat down, she pulled a couple bottles from her bag. She handed one to Link.
"I bought these on the way. I thought now is as good a time as any to enjoy it," she smiled.
"Sure!" Link never turned down free milk drinks.
Five people and half a bottle of milk down, Link noticed he was feeling a bit funny. He stared at the bottle. Nayru wouldn't possibly drug him...would she?
"Say, Nayru, where did you get this again?" he asked.
"I bought it on the way. I think it was in Termina... The girl was really friendly and said it was the best," Naryu replied thoughtfully.
"...Would her name happen to have been Cremia?"
"Yes! It was! Why?"
"This milk is a bit interesting... You didn't buy her special milk by any chance..."
"I'm not sure. She said it was amazing and that I'd be happy with my purchase. It tastes like normal milk to me, but it's good nonetheless."
"Is that because you're a goddess and maybe you don't get the full effects of the drink..." Link tried to ask before his head slammed the table.
He was doing his best to hang in there. The effects of the special milk were hitting him harder than usual. If only lunch wasn't the only thing he had eaten today. He was about to fall out of the chair when Nayru suddenly jumped up.
"We have to go up there! It'll be so much fun! Let's go, Link!" she yelled as she grabbed the fallen hero and dragged him behind her.
Link could barely stand on his own and knew there was no way he could carry a tune on that special milk. He tried to hang on to Nayru, but that proved impossible as multiples of her moved around. He caught the name of the song, Pocket Full of Deku Seeds, before his head started spinning from the music.
Nayru was oblivious to Link's dilemma. Being a goddess, the effects of special milk and the like never affected her. She wished just one time she could know what it was like, but it was probably best if she didn't. She never noticed Link's odd dancing to the side as he did his best to stay with her. She knew he was horribly off-key, but thought maybe he just didn't have a talent for it.
When it was over, Link struggled to stay standing next to her. They bowed to their audience while many were still giggling over Link's performance. Before he could get his head back up, he threw up.
Oh joy, just what I needed... I don't feel so good... I should get home... He thought as he attempted to keep his stomach in check.
"Oh no! Link! I'm so sorry, it's my fault! Let's get you home. I'm so so sorry," Nayru apologized as she helped him up and out the door.
Navi had been dusting around the house when the door opened. She watched in awe as Nayru dragged the poor hero to his bed.
"What in the name of Hyrule happened?" The fairy asked.
"Well... We went to the karaoke... I apparently bought special milk in Termina without knowing it and it didn't sit well with him... I'm so sorry Navi. I didn't mean to," Nayru continued with the apologies.
"Oh, honey, don't worry about it. This usually happens twice a week. Usually they just leave him in the bar until I come get him up in the morning. He's fine."
"Oh? I had no idea."
"Yeah, it's no big deal. Thanks for bringing him home though. I guess it didn't really go as planned, did it?"
"No. If only I hadn't given him that milk, it might have. My first shot at a date and I blew it. Oh well, maybe next time. Thank you for the chance, Navi."
"No problem! Be careful on your way back to Labrynna!" Navi called to Nayru as she left.
She glanced at the pathetic hero laid out on the bed. It's a wonder he managed to save the princess when he spent most of his time in this state. She shook her head and went back to dusting.
"Ugh, my head... Navi, I hate you..." Link fussed as he rolled over and passed out.
Ice: Well, that didn't work out too well. Be wary of special milk... Please read and review!
