It might be a while before I update again. I am moving and won't have any internet for a while. So anyway on with the story.

Shad's home, Boston, Early night, Shad's PoV

I waited for mom and Sapphire to fall asleep, listening for any signs that gave away if they were asleep or awake. For some reason, I have really sensitive hearing when I focus on a certain noise or person, though it kills my head if I try to listen to multiple people at once in a crowded area. When they finally did at around midnight, it was time for my night job. I got on my black gloves, mask, and my black trench coat for my uniform. Then I climbed up on my roof, took in the fall city air, and got my supplies; a lock pick, a tranquilizer gun, 100 darts, a hack gun with remote hack darts, and finally my bag of calling cards. A black, five pointed star with the bottom right point missing.

'Time for the rich to give to the needy,' I thought to myself. I was Ghost, that thief on the TV earlier who stole money from corrupt and greedy to help his family at night, and bane of the chief of police. Suddenly my phone went off. The caller id read my friend's name, "Jake". He was the brains of the "Fading Stars", the gang of thieves that the chief of police was hunting down. Jake didn't go out on field missions much, he was more of an info gathering, hacking and medical treatment person at the time.

"Hey Jake, got any leads tonight?" I asked in a cocky tone. When I was Ghost, I was cocky and headstrong, but as Shad, I was careful and reserved for the most part. Bit of a contrast, but it's how I vent most of the time.

"Yep, the newest family in Boston, the Atoms, just got a ton of cash in their possession. Want to lighten their load?" he asked me.

"Hell yeah I do, I'm gonna need more anyway, a lot more. I got a new daughter, Sapphire. I adopted her earlier. Think I should bring her with, show her what her dad does for a living?" I asked him with a hopeful glint in my eye. Sapphire going on a mission with me could be just what she needed to forget about that nastiness earlier.

"Sure, there are some places you can't get into anyway, like the smaller vents and stuff like that." I can take multiple guards down at once, scale buildings like they're nothing, pick almost any lock on a door and rob any place in Boston blind, but I can't handle being confined in places like a maze or anything similar for too long with no easy way out without losing it. It's a phobia I have. "By the way, the Atoms' enlisted in the Splicer gang for protection," Jake explained. The splicers were the local thugs in Boston. Most of them were drug addicts and religious nuts trying to make a quick buck, others murder for the hell of it, but they share one thing it common; they're all psychopaths. "Keep a close eye on that girl though. I just picked up that the Splicers lost a little girl with some stuff they wanted earlier."

"Alright Jake, thanks for the tip," I spoke worried. It couldn't be Sapphire, right? "Hey did this little girl have a needle with some red stuff in it?"

"Yes she did why?" Damn it.

"Then I probably have her, though it may be some other poor kid. I'm gonna have her bring that needle of hers either way though, she may need a weapon."

"You do as you like Ghost. See ya", Jake said as he signed off.

In Sapphire's room a few minutes later

"Hey Sapphire, wake up," I said shaking my daughter.

"Mmm… what is it daddy?" Sapphire asked yawning and rubbing her eyes. She still had her cloths on from earlier, since she was too tired to change into the clothes I picked up for her on the way home. "And what's with the weird cloths?"

"Daddy needs your help with work. But don't tell Grandma Kerra what I do for a job, OK?" I told her in a whisper.

"OK," she said, her eyes glowing brighter than usual with anticipation. She looked cute like that.

"Good now go get your needle. You might need it," I explained to my daughter.

Atom's residence, Boston Outskirts, Night, Shad's PoV

"Ok Sapphire, you ready?" I asked my kid as we approach the house. It was the outskirts of the city, the rich people area. The target house had four stories, a metal gate, big front and back yard, and a lot of Splicers. This'll be good fun.

"Yeah daddy," she cheered smiling at me. "Wait…*sniff sniff* I smell angels daddy! Lets catch 'em."

"O… K then?" I was confused, but not enough to deny my new daughter of something she was obviously excited about. Let's find this 'angel' first, then the job." My daughter gave me a bright grin and skipped off, humming the same song from earlier. 'The hell's an angel doing on Earth?' I thought to myself as we went on a hunt, my little girl leading the way.
