Guardian of Halloween

ManyGamePlayer

It's been rather rough for me the past few weeks. My boyfriend of a year and a half broke up with me, school has started again, and my sister lost her dog while on the way to visit us. (It got lost of it's leash and got hit by a car) So, I hope everyone is having a better new year than I am.

I want to thank everyone for everything and staying with this story! I will try my best to update. Enjoy!

By the time Dr. Erik Selvig got the rights to his niece it was too late.

He cursed his sister and her husband over and over again till he was blue in the face. His sister had the nerve to call her daughter a freak, a mad child whose been nothing but an accident on them. He slapped his sister then. "Odette is a child! She was innocent to everything placed upon her and you toss her aside like the trash. Maybe if you treated her like a normal child, protecting her from those bullies at school this wouldn't had to happen." His sister fought back his words, saying that how could a mother ever love a freak like her, what did she ever do to have a child like her. "She has wings you cow! That should be a sign that she's special, not a curse on you. She doesn't deserve that hell hole." He yelled at her before he marched into the court room.

It took him two years, one month, and three days before he arrived at the asylum, papers in hand with an angry look on his face. The workers were shocked, but allowed in him but mostly due to the police officer behind him. The main doctor approached him, saying that Odette was not available for visitors but Erik shoved the paper in his face saying that he was here to take her home he looked flustered. Erik marched his way past the doctor, the police officer saying that he had every right according to the law by the judge.

What Erik saw next made his blood boil.

Odette sat in a chair, facing the window. Her hair was gone, all sense of a person seemed to have vanished. Her eyes seemed rather dark and empty like there was no one in there at all. There were scars on her arms and face. She looked like she's gone through hell and back.

The police officer called in back up as Erik put his niece in a wheelchair. The whole hospital was up in arms with abuse claims along with everything under the sun. Erik told his niece he would be right back with the car but her answer was silence. Little did he know the battle and the darkness that was raging inside her head. The monster smiling on the inside as Odette screamed behind the glass in her head.

"You're never going to escape." The monster said and laughed a laugh that made Odette scream in pain, her hands covering her ears to try and drown out the laughter.

"Please, please let me go!" Odette screamed but nothing could be done.

"Never." The monster said as Erik took Odette into the car to take her home.

Three years later...

Odette is 21 years old, almost finished with her teaching degree, and brightest student in her graduating class. Everyone who looked at her thought that she was completely normal, beautiful and smart and positively wonderful. Little did they know that the woman they look at every day was not the same woman. The woman was a sick monster wearing the skin of a woman locked inside her own mind.

Now she stands, leaning against the wooden planks of an outlook that oversees an ocean as blue as the sky, her uncle stood just a few feet away from her talking on his phone about his work. His new intern would be starting soon with him and Odette since the blonde hair woman was as close to an assistant as he could get at the moment but she wasn't really qualified. Odette is almost done with getting her teaching degree to be a teacher, something the monster has to put on a show for but could honestly care less. This planet is nothing...they are all living on borrowed time.

"Sorry about that, Jane had a few questions about the move. You sure you're okay with moving to the middle of no where?" He asked her and she smiled.

"Don't worry about me. I can easily take classes online and also shadow the school teacher that's in town." The monster said with a smile she perfected over the years. Nothing but simple lies and smiles to please the human. When the monster was freed from the stone walls she played the part but slowly reintroduced herself into the world.

"That's good." he said and smiled at her. He then looked down at her hands where it held a golden necklace with a swan carved in the front. "What are you doing with that?"

"I'm going to toss it in the ocean. This...has too many bad memories that I thought it's time to let it go. What better spot than to toss it into the ocean. Maybe it will wash up on the shore somewhere across the sea?"

"Are you sure you want to do that. Didn't Thor give you that?" He asked and the name caused the monster's eye to twitch. The woman inside was crying, her most precious thing that tied her to the man she loves was in the hands of another and she couldn't do anything about it.

"Thor and Loki are not real. I stole this from a store while shopping with mom and dad one day. My pretend world is not real and it will never be. This is nothing to me." With that the monster hardened her face and tossed the necklace over, grinning from ear to ear when she watched it slowly skin into the ocean.

After that the Erik knew something was wrong with his niece.

This wasn't the girl he knew.

This was someone completely different.

Jane knew there was something the moment she saw the blonde hair woman.

The smile she wore was fake and everything just seemed wrong. All her actions were prefect, no flaw on her movements or anything that made her...human. Erik knew of this too and yet no one said anything to her. When she questioned Erik he told her that something happened in that hell hole but not even he could figure it out.

Days rolled on and Jane and Darcy and Erik started to question wither or not Odette was the same woman but countless times she said that things are just harder to adjust. Then for a little bit she's there in her own body, just a flicker but then it's gone again, shoved down somewhere dark.

If only that flicker could stay longer.

Jane might believe the woman would be telling the truth if she's alright or not.

"You need to let me out..." Odette said from the dark conrers of her mind where the monster had pushed her. It's been a long time since the she'd seen the sun. Very rarely does she even see herself in the mirror. The darkness is so thick sometimes...she can't even see outside of her glass housing.

"You would like that wouldn't you?" The monster sneered.

"My uncle knows me, he doesn't know you. They're getting freaked out by you being too perfect. You need to let me out, just for a little while so I can get things straighten out." I told her and she growled, shaking her head.

"You lie. I'm in control! You're never escaping!" The monster's eyes went black as night, her skin turn a sickly gray color and her nails grew long.

"I'm not asking or giving you a reason to escape! I know my family and if you don't allow me in control every once in a while they'll do something. Something where you'll have no more control any more! Let me out, let me talk to them; to let them know I'm still in here."

The monster growled but knew the price to pay for keeping this little secret under wraps.

Slowly the monster went into the back and Odette came out. She found it hard to breathe and fell to the bathroom floor heaving. Tears rolled down her cheeks as she could feel her own fingers and toes once more. The chains had loosened but she wasn't free yet.

Odette took a breath and got to her feet, gasping as she looked at herself in the mirror. Her blonde hair was dyed black and she had piercings but more than one. Her eyes narrow and she swears silently that she'll kill this bitch sooner or later.

After she collects herself Odette makes her entrance, talking softly with her uncle, explaining as best as she can. Her uncle almost cried when she told him that she was alright but would be different for a few days. She told him a little bit about her time locked in a cell but she left things out so he wouldn't do anything rash.

"You're sure you're alright? There's nothing wrong?" Her uncle asked her and she wanted to scream so loud how she has a bitch living in her head and taking over her body but she smiled at him softly.

"I'm fine. Just give me some time to adjust. I promise, it's still me just...I'll just act differently some days. I love you Uncle Erik."

"I love you too sweetheart. Get some rest okay?" He asked her, kissing her forehead.

"Okay. Say hi to Darcy and Jane for me." She told him and he nodded his head before leaving. Odette barely made it to her room before almost collapsing on the floor. Odette was roughly shoved from her body back inside the cage where was watched the monster fall on her bed with a sigh.

"Now stay in here. I'll only bring you out every once in a while to make sure they stay off my ass, understood?" The monster asked and Odette nodded her head.

"Crystal clear."

"Good."

Wake up little one...

Wake up...

Odette opened her eyes to see she was in a never ending field of flowers. Beautiful flowers that ranged from the deepest red to the lightest color of white she had ever seen. Odette called out, her voice echoing like she was in a cave of some sort.

Odette...

Odette gasped and turned around to see a woman standing in front of her with a sad smile on her face. She knows this woman but the name escapes her. Sudden flashes of blood and tears appear in her mind and she falls to her knees. Memories of the hell she was in bombard her relentless of how tight she shuts her eyes.

Be strong little one...

Never lose hope...

Keep this hidden...

Odette looked up to see a familiar golden necklace hanging before her face. She allowed it to drop in her hands, holding it like it would shatter in a thousand pieces if she wasn't careful. She thought she lost this...the monster threw it away...the most precious thing given to her...

When the time comes...

Embrace what you are...

Fight back...

Odette nodded her head; her face stern as tears rolled down her face. Soon there will be no more hiding, no more playing the prisoner. The monster will fall and send a message to its master.

The priestess awakens...

Now the light starts fighting back...
