It's been a while! I've been writing a lot it's just a matter of typing it. I like to write in a journal first then edit as I type it in. Finals are here so hopefully around next week I can't upload another chapter. Please enjoy, reviews and constructive criticism are very welcome! (I do not own Naruto). Here is chapter 7!
CHAPTER 7
Sai wasn't scared by the time they got to their destination. His captors seemed idiotic and disorganized. They bickered back and forth under their breath all the way. There were only three of them, but Sai couldn't take them on, at least not all at ounce. He had some fighting experience from karate…in sixth grade. He was still blind with the bag over his head. They led him into a building. He was shoved down into a seat, his hands had been untied. The bag was suddenly ripped off his head. Sai breathed in the musty air. He was in a small cramped room. Dead potted plants lined the entire room. A desk sat to Sai's right and several shelves lined both walls they held toolboxes, wire, and paint cans.
"Disgusting." Sai mumbled.
"Hello Sai." A long blonde haired man stepped into view. He wore his hair up in a ponytail and a black cloak with red clouds, like Akatsuki. Sai's eyes widened with the realization. Sai now feared for his life.
"You have the files and you've opened them," the man seemed to be in a hurry.
"What?" Sai decided to play dumb.
"Don't fuck with me. You opened the files from a laptop, which was a big mistake,"
Shit! He had completely made a dumb mistake. What did they want with Naruto's file anyway? He knew exactly where the files were, and they didn't.
"Honestly I don't know what you're talking about," Sai put a little desperation into his voice. The blonde haired man stepped closer and slapped Sai across the face. Sai let out a sharp breath. He'd been slapped in the spot where he was punched earlier. Was that all he could do?
"I swear I don't know!"
"We're getting nowhere here," a voice came. A man in a swirled orange mask appeared. He was creepy and his voice was low. This man made Sai uneasy. What where they going to do to him. He was warned about this…and he didn't listen. The blonde stepped back.
"We usually win at these types of games Sai," A knife flashed in the man's hand. Sai could make a run for it, but at what cost? It was now or never. Sai shot up in the opposite direction of Akatsuki. Adrenalin was pumping through his body. He couldn't see a door as he fumbled in the shadows. He was pulled back by his shoulders and thrown to the ground.
"It's no use!" the blonde yelled over Sai's protests.
"no, no please!" Sai flailed his arms at the two Akatsuki members. He tried to claw and scratch at them but their cloaks were in the way. The masked man brought the knife down fast and hard. There was a gasp, then panting, wheezing, then silence.
"Get someone to clean this up later. We'll search his apartment," the masked man got up. He pulled the knife from Sai's chest. The two left and the door slammed behind them. Sai's phone buzzed in his pocket.
Shikamaru had received a text from Sai earlier. He was still trying to figure out what it meant. The content for the message was only three numbers: 301. He had tried to contact Sai several times both by text message and phone calls. He left some voicemails too. He was probably drunk again.
"How does this work?" Naruto threw his arms up in the air, "no one has shown up, who's working the docks?" Naruto had stopped to pace back and forth.
"Somethings definitely off, let's get back to the car and call Tsunade. I have a feeling no one will show up today," he was watching Naruto pace.
"Ok whatever." He was clearly frustrated.
As they were walking off the dock they spotted a man on one of the boats. He was sitting alone. As they neared they spotted a beer in his hand.
"Isn't it a little early for drinking?" Naruto stopped in front of the boat. The man slowly turned his head to look at the blonde.
"Who the fuck are you?"
"I'm Naruto, who the fuck are you?" Sasuke wasn't sure if Naruto was stepping too far.
"Naruto…I'm mind your own god damn business," the man let out a belly laugh. There were dark circles under his eyes and his hair was sticking up every which way. He seemed to be still in his pajamas.
"We'll let you be if you tell us where everyone is," Sasuke spoke now he didn't want any unnecessary confrontation.
"hmm…" the man swished the beer around in the bottle, "apparently everyone has the day off,"
"Listen we're not here to play games," Sasuke was getting aggravated. How could they afford such a thing?
"Excuse me SIR but I'm not playing games here. I should be making money right now!" the man laughed then continued, "Everyone does have the day off…unpaid," he took a gulp from his beer.
Naruto glanced at Sasuke, he returned the look. They thanked the drunken man and returned to their car. "What a waste of time." Sasuke mumbled. Naruto got into the driver's seat and slammed the door shut.
"Someone must have been tipped off," Naruto put the keys in the ignition, "Sasuke call the police station and get this guy picked up we'll question him later." Naruto put the car in drive.
"Oh I'll get right on that boss!" Sasule rolled his eyes. He pulled out his cellphone and called then he called Tsunade.
Naruto pulled out from the docks. Who could have tipped them off? Sometimes this job just really blows. There were some upsides, but some things you can't just get over it's like it becomes part of your shadow.
"Naruto?" Sasuke asked loudly.
"Yeah what?"
"I said your name like five times,"
"Yeah what?"
"We're interrogating Guy when we get back,"
"Oh fun." Naruto sighed.
Naruto and Sasuke were looking through the one way mirror at Guy. He was in an orange jumpsuit. Tsunade and Jiraiya would show up later.
"Naruto I'll let you take the lead on this," Sasuke opened the door.
"Okay?" Naruto raised an eyebrow at him. It's going to be like that huh? Naruto walked into the interrogation room. Tsunade and Jiraiya were now watching them through the one way mirror.
"Orange looks good on you." Naruto joked as he sat down across from Guy. Sasuke did the same. Guy stayed silent his eyes focused on Naruto.
"How's your nose?" Guy smirked.
"It's great thanks!"
"Looks like it," he said flatly.
"Tell me Guy, why would you want to sell a drug that ruined your body and your career?" Guy was now glaring at Naruto, "Someone's telling you to sell it, you're pushing it for someone," Naruto paused, "You owe someone a favor, who?" Not a word escaped Guy's mouth. "Come on Guy you know it's only a matter of time before someone talks,"
"Those two won't say a word." Guy smirked.
"You sure about that?" Sasuke added. Guy looked to Sasuke. He almost looked surprised that he was there. "If there's a third party involved Guy then those two will throw you under the bus." Sasuke had no expression.
"They won't, a deal is a deal,"
"A deal that they provided the drugs and you sell it, what do you get out if it Guy like ten percent?" Naruto looked Guy right in the eyes. Guy knew he had said too much. He didn't say a word now. "come on Guy you're already in for selling, you give us valid information we can cut you a deal. You don't look like you'd do very well in jail." Naruto sat back in the metal chair.
"Fuck you!" Guy spat.
"Guy the offers on the table I don't see any other option here." Naruto crossed his arms. Sasuke looked back and forth between the two. They looked like they were having a staring contest.
Guy broke the stare off. He let out a big sigh, "Fine, I want that in writing though,"
"I promise, who gave them the drugs to give to you?" Naruto sat forward. Guy seemed nervous.
"They're going to kill me either way, they'll know I ratted. They have people everywhere right under their thumbs!" Guy had beads of sweat forming on his forehead.
"Who Guy?" Sasuke was on the edge of his seat now.
"I can't…I…" He shook his head back and forth. He seemed to be having an internal battle with himself.
"Yes you can," Naruto's voice had gotten slightly deeper. The changed almost surprised Sasuke.
"Akatsuki…" Guy let out a whimper.
"Shit," Naruto shook his head. They probably had plenty of sellers. They had suspected that Guy was dealing for them but this confirms it. Guy was replaceable and so where the delivery guys. There's a possibility that they may have slowed things down , they had confiscated a good amount of narcotics.
"What about TenTen is that where Akatsuki gets their guns?" Naruto shot Guy another question.
"I wouldn't know about that, I only sell."
"Any information about her?" Sasuked chimed in.
"No,"
"Did you ever meet anyone from Akatsuki?" Sasuke asked.
"Never, only the delivery guys."
Naruto and Sasuke got up. They took their things and left without another word to Guy. They joined Tsunade and Jiraiya in the next room.
"This is a problem, a massive one," Naruto paused, "We'll have to put him in solitary with trusted guards,"
"I wasn't sure if he really was selling for Akatsuki but now we know, and with now what happened at the docks someone had to have tipped her off," Tsunade was staring at Guy through the glass.
"Akatsuki is on high alert it's been a while since someone pinched one of their dealers." Jiraiya added.
"We can't assume that Akatsuki gets their guns from TenTen though, it would be a mistake to do that until we have evidence." Sasuke adjusted the folder in his hands.
"Sasuke's right." Naruto agreed.
"We'll have to set up a whole new plan. We're going to add two more agents into the case with you," Tsunade broke her stare at Guy and looked at her two agents.
"The more the merrier." Naruto grinned and Sasuke rolled his eyes at the blonde.
"Who did you have in mind?" Sasuke asked her.
"Sakura and Kiba. Kiba's been in the K-9 unit as the AMBU Agency so we'll use him and his dogs and Sakura."
"Sounds good to me, right Sasuke?" Naruto have the raven a playful elbow.
"Are we sending the K-9 units to the docks?" Sasuke wasn't a big fan of dogs. He really didn't want to be near them.
"Yes they'll sniff out gun powder or any type of explosive." Jiraiya spoke up.
"Yeah dog breath trains dogs like no other. He's like the dog whisperer or something." Naruto laughed.
Sasuke's phone buzzed in his pocket. He waited to look at it. It buzzed again. Tsunade told them to meet in the conference room in 20 minutes. Sasuke pulled out his phone and viewed the text message.
Shika: Sai set me a weird text all it said was "301" ring any bells?
Sasuke: No, has he replied?
Shika: Nada, I've called and texted several times
Sasuke: Can't you track his phone?
Shika: You're forgetting we're talking about Sai here. He's untraceable…
Sasuke: That's his downfall. Have to go. Try and stop by his apartment ok?
Shika: Right, text ya' later
Sasuke slapped his phone shut. Where would Sai be, he'd either be drunk or luring someone into some type of trap. There had to be some type of meaning to 301.
"Everything ok?" Naruto looked at Sasuke with concern.
"Yeah fine."
Sai floated in darkness. It was peaceful, was he dead, in limbo? Hell? There were no sounds, nothing. Was he to spend eternity like this? He felt a thud in his chest, then another followed by another. The darkness was pierced by light. He was struggling as his chest tightened. He gasped as air filled his lungs and the bright light blinded him, was this heaven?
"He's alive! A muffled shout made it to Sai's ear drums. Alive! Sai tried to focus on the voice. "Can you hear me?" it sounded like an older man. Sai could only manage a moan, "help is on the way!" the man was holding a cloth to Sai's chest. He couldn't help but lets a tear fall from his cheek.
"Thank you." Sai whispered.
