Simply Right
So this took a really long time to get up and I am really sorry, life has just been super hectic and I have been busy with college stuff. But at least it's here now :D Please leave a review I thrive off them!
Charlie clutched at the baby as she watched Orella struggle as if she was being strangled, gasping weakly for air. She had never felt this helpless but she knew that Slender was going to help her, he would save her and bring her back and then they would be together as a family again. Yeah. It used to feel weird to think that she called them her family, but now it felt natural. And during an apocalypse she wouldn't want to be stuck in a cabin out in the woods with anybody else.
Good bye cruel world, my life was ending in a swirling torrent of black inky water and there wasn't a damned thing I could do about it...or was there? This was my mind right? So it stands to reason that I can control what goes on. I closed my eyes and tried as hard as I could to not think about my impending doom, thoughts of being with Charlies and Slender filled my mind and calmed me. Suddenly I felt a surge of energy go through my body and I pushed it outwards, letting it fill the water around me and push me upwards until I finally broke the surface of the lake.
"Uh, oh my gods that was awful."
I tried to catch my breath as quickly as possible but every gulp of air I took in it felt like razors going down my throat, but I had to push through it. Slender needed my help and I was tired of this bitch being in my head. I focused all of my thoughts on bringing Slender and the witch to the top of the lake, the surface began to bubble as if it was boiling the harder I tried. Suddenly two figures burst through the lakes surface just as I had only moments ago before landing on top as if the water were a hard surface.
"Who-. You! I killed you, took your very essence of being! How could-"
"Because there was no way that I was going to give a nasty, controlling bitch like you the satisfaction of killing me."
Slender merely looked on at me as if he was seeing a ghost, not able to move nor speak out of shock. And as I projected my anger at the demoness her body began to tear apart at the seams, almost as if several ropes were tied to each of her limbs and they were slowly being pulled. And with each passing second my anger only seemed to grow, to think that this creature had her hands on Slender...nothing was going to stop me from destroying her.
"You can't get rid of me, I am the nightmares in your mind. The fear that runs through your body!"
I narrowed my eyes dangerously as I stared her down, my breath coming out as an icy cloud and my hands clenched into tight fists.
"Well guess what? Now water can be running through your body when I rip it to shreds and send it to the bottom of the lake!"
And in one fluid movement I brought my hands up and made as if I had grabbed something, grinning as her body jerked as if someone had took hold of her as well. I could see her eyes fill with fear and I relished the feeling of superiority for only a few moment before tearing my hands apart. Her screams of pain filled my ears and made me smile as if I were listening to the sweetest of melodys, and that was the last thought that ran through my head before I, once again, dropped off the edge of sanity and consciousness in my own mind into the inky depths of nothing.
"She's dead isn't she? Oh my god she's dead! Why couldn't I have- *sob- the last thing we did was argue."
"Charlie she's not dead, look."
As Slender tried to reassure the panicking woman he watched as Orella began to breath steadily once more, her chest rising and falling with healthy life. He could not begin to express the fear and horror that ran through his body as he watched her sink, but there was nothing he could have done. The demoness had him paralyzed completely, her cackling laugh still echoing in his mind, haunting his thoughts even now. He had come so close to losing her, but like the day he met her, she still surprised him with the unwavering will to live. Suddenly a tiny cry pulled him from his thoughts and he turned towards Charlie and the baby. She was squirming as if she was uncomfortable and reached towards him with her tiny arms, her face set with an almost determined look.
He was still a bit hesitant when it came to holding and interacting with her, but seeing as she wasn't going to stop he took her from Charlies arms and into his own. She immediately quieted down, grabbing onto his tie and turning towards his chest to rest her head on him. She was so innocent and so soft...his inner beast thrashed uncontrollably as the smell of the baby hit his nostrils, but with an unwavering determination he pushed it far enough down to ignore it. He knew it would never disappear, the hunger, it was a part of him as much as he was a part of Orella now. And as they say, old habits die hard, but he had been able to push down his monster and restrain it for the sake of those he loved, and so he shall continue to do so.
"Ugh, wha...? Slender, Charlie? What happened...and why does my mouth feel like the Sahara desert?"
Charlie lunged towards Orella in the blink of an eye and had her in a headlock hug, practically squeezing the life out of her. She let all of her worries go as she hugged her best friend, just glad and relieved that she was alive and well.
"Thank god that you're okay. Do you remember what happened?"
"Not so much. I remember having a really bad nightmare, then after that I don't really remember anything. How long was I asleep?"
Charlie opened her mouth to answer, and by the look on her face Slender could tell that she was going to go on a long rant about how long she was out and probably all the things that happened in between. He felt his protectiveness go into overdrive, he knew that Orella needed food and something to drink as well as time to rest, as ironic as that sounds. Her body and mind were completely exhausted from her encounter. So he handed the baby gently back to Charlie, effectively cutting her off, before moving her out the door.
"What's the big idea?! I want to talk to her-"
"She needs to rest her body, she has been through a traumatic experience and even though she doesn't realize it now her mind needs to restart. Now please, go feed the baby and lay her down for a nap."
Charlie was a bit hot but she could hear the underlying tone of sternness in his voice, there was no budging him on this matter so she may as well just leave it be. He watched her walk off a few feet before shutting the door quietly and make his way back to Orella, she was now sitting in bed trying to rub the sleep out of her eyes.
"How do you feel my love? Any type of pain or discomfort?"
"No, I feel fine. Just hungry and thirsty is all."
She patted the space beside her and motioned for him to come and sit next to her, watching him closely as he did so. He was acting like she was a fragile doll or something. He was silent as he sat beside her, his only movement was to pull her against his side and wrap a tentacle around my waist. She wanted to question his odd behavior but felt that she wasn't going to get much from him now, she would just have to remember it later. They sat like that for what felt like an eternity, only moving when Charlie brought her a sandwich and a glass of milk before exiting quickly. She ate the sandwich quickly and drank the milk in silence before continuing the rite of silence, her hands folded neatly and resting in her lap.
Neither one of them moved or spoke, she couldn't tell if he was just enjoying the silence or contemplating what he was going to say. None the less she could feel her body tire out and shut down, apparently she was more tired than she had initially thought. Her eyes slowly began to close and she could feel her head drooping forward, but just before she drifted off to sleep Slender spoke up and startled her. Her cheeks flushed red a bit from embarrassment but she doubted he saw it, he kept staring straight ahead.
"Remember when we first met? I was completely enraged by your being. The fact that a mere human could look at me and be so...indignant. It was just so angering. But then I saw what you did and how you looked at me as not a monster, but a man, and it drew me to you. I was attracted by your will to live and the light in your eyes, and the more I learned about you and the more I was around you I knew that I wouldn't be able to leave you."
His words were so true and just, his tone was neutral and it held no emotion whatsoever. It moved her how he was able to openly express this with her, something she wouldn't have thought he was capable of just a year ago.
"Yes, I remember. It was just so...different. They way looked and how you acted, I had never really encountered someone like you before so I thought I would try to give you the benefit of the doubt. Everyone wants to point and shout at the slightest hint of different, but that's what my life has been about...being different."
"Different...you are different Orella, but not in the way you think. Every human is the same in the sense of their survival, to send away those who would endanger and to welcome those who could fight. Survive. But you turned away everyone, friend or foe, until you had been taken by that revolting beast of a man. Then you changed, something not many people would have done, and you let Charlie in."
She was trying to stay into the conversation but every word that his voice spoke lulled her further into sleep, her eyelids drooping ever so slightly and the end of his last sentence. She managed to shake herself awake enough to get out a half intelligible response at the least.
"I just didn't want to spend the rest of my life alone anymore, everyone that tried to help me I just turned away and...I just couldn't..."
Her voice trailed off into a string of unintelligible murmurs and a few sighs, clearly showing how tired she was. Slender knew that she had been listening and he was fully aware of her tired state, and that is also why he started talking about random thoughts that he had bouncing around in his mind. It was a good way to distract her and let her body drift into a more natural sleep rather than a forced one, and hopefully trigger some more enjoyable dreams. He didn't move until he was sure that she was asleep, not wanting to disturb her, and within moments he heard the soft, repetitive sound of her breathing beside him. So without disturbing her he made sure she was covered, her head resting comfortably on her pillow, before appearing about 4 miles out in the forest. He hadn't been hunting in a long time, and even though he could resist the temptation of human it didn't mean he could go forever without eating.
