"Derek, it's Jackson. Where the hell are you, I really need to talk to you." Jackson hung up the phone and sent another text message to Derek. Call me. Jackson had been trying to reach him for hours, unsuccessfully. Finally, he decided to just go look for him. After checking the Hale ruins, Derek's dorm, and the school's lot for Derek's car, Jackson decided desperate times called for desperate measures. Jackson pulled his phone back out and called Isaac. "Lahey? Hello? Look man, I need Derek. Give me a call back and let me know where to find him." Jackson hung up, it wasn't strange that Isaac hadn't answered. After all, Jackson had made fun of the kid for most of his life. Living across the street from the Lahey family, he saw a lot of things happen. He knew Isaac's dad kicked the crap out of him every night, Jackson just didn't care. Looking back, he probably should have done something about it a long time ago.
As Jackson pulled his car into the lot behind his dorm, he saw Cora Hale and Derek's new beta walking by. Jackson quickly shut off the engine and ran over to them. "Ladies," Jackson smiled, "Could you tell me where to find Derek?" His tone was sweet enough to give them a tooth ache. Cora and Erica looked at the boy in front of them and walked away, continuing on with their conversation about the decorating in their room. Being ignored wasn't something he was used to. No one ignores Jackson Whittemore. He approached the girls again, still smiling, still sweet, only slightly agitated at this point. "I guess you didn't hear me. I'm looking for Derek," he said through a small grin. "Oh, we heard you," "We just don't care." Both girls turned away from him again and continued walking towards the library. This angered Jackson.
"Hey!" Jackson caught up to the girls, grabbing Erica's wrist tightly. "Let go of me you creep!" she shouted. "I'm not letting go until I get some answers! Where's Der-" before he could finish, his face was met with Cora's fist. The blow knocked Jackson to the ground. The girls left, more quickly this time, as Jackson just lay on the ground. He could feel himself getting angrier with every missed call and unanswered text he thought about. Jackson's fingertips started to split open revealing his claws. Not wanting to get in anymore trouble, he remembered something Scott had once said, "Pain makes you human". Jackson dug his claws into his hands and blood started pouring down his wrists as his body began to numb and he slowly drifted into unconsciousness.
Jackson woke up and the sun was setting. He could already feel the effects of the full moon starting to set in. He felt an uncontrollable need to destroy everything he saw and only a small part of him cared that doing so would get him expelled from the academy or even killed. Jackson's changed status hadn't completely gone through yet, so he wasn't eligible for the Newborn Network. I clearly am a wolf a now. I've even been in trouble for it. I don't know why they won't just let me into lock-down. Beacon Hills had a special underground system of chambers designed for special occasions, like a wolf's first full moon or the first few months of a new vampire. The school took extra precautions in ensuring the safety of the public, it was important to show that humans and creatures could live together peacefully.
Jackson slowly picked himself up off the ground and tried scraping the dried blood from his hands and nails. Soon he realized how much time had actually passed and quickly pulled out his phone. 1 NEW MESSAGE. Jackson opened the message, glad to see it was from Derek. I tried to help you. I wanted this to work. My pack wanted this to work. It was you who didn't. You don't want to be with us? Fine. Good luck tonight. I hear the Argents are training some new blood. "That's it?" Jackson scrolled through the message thread hoping there was something he missed. Hoping Derek had decided to help him, but there was nothing. All his life Jackson felt like he was alone in everything he did. Now, he really was.
