I stood outside the door with Rosalie and took a deep breath. I had to put my shield into place so that I wouldn't break down in front of Edward. I've cried enough; he doesn't deserve any more of my tears. I tucked my hair behind my ears and lifted my head to nod toward Rose. "I'm ready."

Rosalie gave me a small smile and reached out for my hand. "Remember, Bella, don't show them too much emotion. Don't give anyone that satisfaction. And with the pregnancy, I really think you should go for more. You could get a lot more from him that would help out you and Nessie and the new baby."

I jerked my hand back and stared at her. "You're my lawyer, Rose. I don't want any more from him. I don't care. I can take care of myself and my children just fine. I make enough for that. I want my children and my home and my half of the money. That's all."

Rosalie nodded as she opened the door. Edward and his lawyer were already seated inside with the divorce papers spread out in front of them. Edward's eyes were ringed red and his hair was a disheveled mess. I knew that meant he had been crying and pulling on his hair since I saw him this morning.

I looked away from him quickly and took my seat at the table. Edward had an old friend, James, representing him. He was a terrible person that I refused to let come to our house once Edward and I married. He was a man that only represented men who had done something wrong and needed an out. And that now applied to my almost ex-husband.

Rosalie sat beside me and gave Edward a sharp look before James began talking. "So, we are here today to sign the divorce papers between Edward and Isabella Cullen. We have been back and forth, but these are the finalized papers that both parties have agreed upon. The papers state that Isabella will receive her half of their monetary assets, the home, and partial custody of their child, Reneesme. However, Edward was told this morning that Isabella is expecting another child, so there will be partial custody of that child as well."

I glanced toward Rosalie quickly and she nodded back to me. "James, we said that Bella would be sole guardian of Renessme, as well as the unborn child. Edward will receive his time with the children, but Bella will have sole custody."

Edward glared at me as Rosalie announced the change to the documents. He opened his mouth, but James cut him off. We were both ordered in the beginning to let our lawyers do the talking. "I noted that you asked for sole custody, Rosalie, however Edward disagrees. They have both proven to be acceptable parents, and Edward doesn't want to lose rights to his child, soon to be, children."

"This will not work. Isabella will have sole custody and allow visits for Edward. The children will spend specific agreed-upon weekends with him and they will rotate important holidays. With shared custody, there are too many unknowns that would complicate the lives of the children. A very major one would be school zones. We cannot allow the children to be out of their school zone every other week because of shared custody."

James glanced to Edward before he responded. "Edward insists on shared custody. He has assured me that the children will remain in the same school zone." James handed over several pieces for Rosalie to look at, "Edward has provided proof of residency, dependent on finalization, in the same school district where he now lives with Isabella. This will keep the children close by."

I jerked the papers from Rosalie and glanced over the words. Edward was buying a house in the same fucking neighborhood that we lived in now. And her name was on the damn paperwork right there beside his. I gaped up at Edward, who looked ashamed. I threw the papers in his face as I stood up. "What the hell is this, Edward?" I yelled, "You fucking cheat on me, and now you're going to live right down the damn street to rub it in my face? Is that what this is? Fuck you, Edward! You are not sharing custody of our children. I'll fight you for it, and I'll win. And you know I will!"

Rosalie reached out for me to sit back down, but I could feel the tears welling up in my eyes. I turned and ran, like a coward. I couldn't let him see me cry. I've lost everything, but I will not lose my children.

I ran out of the courtroom, knowing that Rose would be behind me to tell me that I shouldn't have shown so much emotion. I turned a corner and bumped into a hard frame. I wiped tears from my eyes so I could see who it was, and looked up into the face of Jasper. He pulled me into a tight hug and I felt Alice's small hands rubbing my back.

"Bella, honey," Alice whispered with a trembling voice, "We love you so much. You know we all have your back on this. My brother is an asshole. You have us, Bella."

I pulled myself out of Jasper's arms and gave them both a small smile. "Thank you, Ali. And you, too, Jasper." I looked down the hallway and locked eyes with the one person I thought wouldn't turn on me during the divorce and sighed, "It looks like everyone doesn't agree with you on that though."

Esme scowled in my direction before walking in the opposite direction. Alice grabbed my hand when the saw the short exchange, "She'll come around, Bella."

I shook my head and sat on the nearby bench. "It's her son, Alice. Her perfect son. She told me that she wouldn't take sides, but there she is, hating me for not begging him to stay with me."

Esme was the mother I never truly had, and I had thought she would understand and help me through this. Edward was in the wrong here, not me. He wanted to leave me, he filed for the damn divorce. It's her son though.

I felt an arm wrap around my shoulders the same time that I smelled her perfume. Rosalie pulled me into a tight hug. "He conceded, Bella. You'll get your half of monetary assets, the house, and sole custody of the children. I can't make him back out of the bid for the house though. You just need to sign the papers. Whenever you're ready."

I nodded and leaned into Rose. I looked down to find the papers in her hand with a pen. I picked up the pen and slowly, but surely, signed Isabella Marie Cullen on each page before I broke down in tears.
