Chapter 18 – The Battle of Hogwarts

The room of requirement was quiet once Ellie, Luna and Harry left. The realisation of the upcoming battle was finally coming in. Daisy could tell that a few of the people in the room were deciding whether to fight or not.

Ron and Hermione quickly and quietly slipped out of the room. Daisy watched them go wondering what it was that they were planning.

'The suspense is killing me,' Ginny groaned, pulling Daisy out of her thoughts.

Daisy turned to face her. 'I scared, Ginny,' she admitted. Her voice was quiet so only Ginny would be able to hear.

'Me too,' Ginny admitted. The volume of her voice matched Daisy's. 'At the same time I feel the need to fight.'

Daisy nodded. 'Same, I want to fight but I know not all of us we make it out alive.'

'We have to win, Daisy,' Ginny told her. 'If we lose everyone who died fighting against Voldemort died in vain.'

'I can't let that happen,' Daisy told her.

The sound of foot step came from within the passage. Everyone turned and forces their attention on it. It was Kingsley, Lupin and Mrs Weasley that emerged.

'Mum,' Ginny smiled as she ran forward to hug her mother. 'You're here.'

More familiar faces began to come out of the passage, including Evangeline Cornwell.

'Daisy,' Evangeline called when she spotted her. She walked over and pulled the girl in to a hug. 'I am so happy you are alright.'

'You too,' Daisy told her. 'I heard you were helping muggles and muggleborns in hiding.'

Evangeline nodded. 'I am sorry that I came too late for you. By the time I arrived at your house to bring you in to safety you were already gone.'

'That is alright,' Daisy told her. 'You can't save everyone. You did the very best that you could do.'

'I decide that it was safer for both you and Ellie to stay with Mrs Weasley then to come with me.' Evangeline informed her. 'I am fine putting my own life in danger just others.'

'I understand,' Daisy told her.

Evangeline looked around the crowded room. 'Where is Ellie?' she asked, worry showing in her voice.

'With Harry and Luna,' Daisy told her. 'They will be back soon.'

Right on cue the door to the room of requirement opened. It was Harry, Luna and Ellie.

'Harry, what's happening?' Lupin asked.

'Voldemort's on his way, they're barricading the school. We are fighting,' Harry announced.

There was a run for the door, as various people proceed to push their way out and in to the corridor.

Ellie looked over at Daisy and spotted her mother beside her. She made her way over, forcing herself through the crowd travelling in the opposite direction.

'You can't stop me mum,' she told Evangeline firmly.

'I wasn't going to,' Evangeline told her daughter.

Ellie looked at her mother in confusion. 'What do you mean?'

'I know you, Ellie,' Evangeline told her. 'You wouldn't take no for an answer. You can fight just be careful.'

'I will mum,' Ellie told her.

Evangeline turned to Daisy. 'You to Daisy,'

'I will, Mrs Cornwell,' Daisy reassured her.

Evangeline looked sadly at the two girls. 'The events of today will not only shape the future of both the wizardry and muggle world but also both your lives.' She informed them. 'The decision to stay or leave is yours. Just think very careful about it.'

Evangeline turned to look behind her where the other members of the order were talking quickly. 'I will see both of you later,' she told the two girls and she left to join the order.

'Come on Daisy,' Ellie told her as she grabbed Daisy had and led her out of the room. The two girls ran down the corridors to the Great Hall were there classmates were prepare for the battle.

Colin Creevey noticed the two and quickly made his way over to them. 'Are you fighting?' he asked the girls.

'Of course,' Daisy answered.

'Don't let Professor McGonagall see you,' he told them. 'She will try and sent you back because you are underage.'

Ellie and Daisy both looked around the hall. 'I can't see her,' Daisy told them.

'She outside right now,' Colin informed them. 'Adding more defensive spells to the castle.'

'So we just need to sneak past her,' Ellie added.

Colin grinned at both of them. 'I knew you two wouldn't back down.'

The three blended into the large crowds of people willing to fight. They were unnotice in the large masses of witches and wizards. The few that did recogisition them decided not to mention the fact that they were underage.

As the death eaters brenched the castle walls and frought they way into the castle; the crowd moved and began the long fight.

Daisy, Colin and Ellie weaved there way through the large castle and the people inside. They would cast curse and defensive spells as the ran through but tried not to stay still for long enought to proberly fight anyone.

As Daisy ran out to the courtyard with Colin trailing behind her; she turned to see Ellie was missing.

'Ellie,' she cried as she pushed past Colin to return to inside the castle.

'No Daisy,' Colin cried as he grabbed a hold of Daisy arm. 'We need to keep moving forward. We can't go back.

'She is my best friend,' Daisy reminded Colin.

'This is Ellie we are talking about,' Colin reminded Daisy. 'She can take care of herself.'

Daisy nodded. The two took of running again; this time around the rim of the courtyard. As Daisy turned one of the corners she came face to face with a Death Eater.

In that moment Daisy forgot every spell she had ever learned.

'Avada Kedavra,' he yelled.

Daisy squeesed her eyes shut before the Death Eater had even finished the curse. So this is how it ends, she through. She waited for the impact but it never came.

Slowly Daisy opeend her eyes. She was still in the courtyard. The Death Eater was gone. She was alive.

Daisy looked around in confusion. How did she survive.

It wasn't until she looked to the ground that she realise excaulty what had happened.

Daisy yelled in shock as the tears ran from her eyes.

Lying on the cold stone ground in front of her was the lifeless body of Colin Creevey. He had taken the curse for her.
