Demon and the strawhat Chapter 2*

Not a direct sequel to the first Chapter, but the first chapter did happen. Just giving my spin to another scenario in this crossover.

I don't own Yu Yu Hakusho or One piece.

The war of the best is over and done with Zoro and Perona find themselves on a dark island pursued from all sides by large weapon wielding monkeys, wounded and in a pinch Zoro is all but finished. When out of seemingly nowhere, Dracule Mihawk appears scaring away the apes with is mere presence.

"Does it say more that they ran from my mere entrance or that you were just about to be killed and likely eaten by those monkeys?" Mihawk says with a completely straight face.

Zoro is nearly too tired and wounded to respond, only getting out. "What are you doing here?" Before he passes out from exhaustion.

Perona looks back and forth between Zoro and Mihawk. "Ah, I'd like to know as well."

"This is my island and home, why wouldn't I be here?" Mihawk keeps his plain look as he turns to walk away. "Bring him with you and follow me to the castle he should be treated before he dies."

Perona panics. "Why should I? It's not like I care about what happens to an idiot like this."

"Then let him die." Mihawk says without turning back to her.

A lump forms in her throat as she looks back and forth from Zoro to Mihawk. Suddenly the monkeys howl as they get closer due to Mihawk leaving. Causing Perona to panic further grabbing Zoro without thinking. She eventually catches up to Mihawk. "Where were you? I've been here for weeks and haven't seen a soul besides this idiot and now you."

"This island used to be a thriving kingdom but fell decades ago from disease and civil war. I am this islands only resident…" Mihawk seems to mumble something else, but it was far too subtle for Perona to notice. They don't talk, rather he doesn't, but she won't stop talking, the whole way back to his castle. Where Zoro is treated and put to rest and he doesn't wake up for days.

Perona floats in Mihawk's dinner hall twiddling her fingers. "Why won't you tell me where you were?"

Mihawk cuts a steak and eats it. "Because I'd then have to tell Roronoa as well, I'd much rather have to say it only once."

"Then I could just tell him when or if he wakes up." Perona reasons.

Mihawk pauses before taking his next bite. "The news pertaining to where I was and what I was doing is something I believe he should hear from me." He eats the next bite.

"You mean how you sold out and decided to do what the government asked of you like a good lap dog." A voice echoes through the hall. Causing Mihawk to freeze.

Perona literally flips twice. "Wh-who was that?" She looks around the room seeing no one else around. "That idiot can't be awake yet."

"It's been far too long, Jaganshi Hiei." Mihawk responds to the voice. "Why don't you show yourself?"

"I was never hiding." Perona turns hearing the direction more clearly now, seeing that a small in stature man with spikey black hair is standing back to back with Mihawk's chair.

"What bring's you back here? From what I heard your pirate crew have been rather busy, stirring up the navy." Mihawk continues eating as if nothing had happened.

"Well this is MY island after all, just because all my citizens died long ago doesn't mean I can't come to my kingdom.

"Whoa whoa whoa, back up you guys." Perona tries to get involved. "Did he just say "Hiei" as in the Akuma pirate's very own Hiei?"

"One and the same." Mihawk answers drinking some wine.

Stars form in Perona's eyes. "The Akuma Pirates! They're the biggest bads in the whole world, they hunt down celestial dragon, and I'm standing in the presence of one?" She tries failingly to restrain her excitement. "If it wasn't for Master Moria, I'd try to join them. They're so cool. Can I have you sign my-"

"He's gone…" Mihawk stops her from finishing that question."

She hit the ground face first. "Wha? But I was s excited to finally meet one of the most infamous pirates in the world."

"He never stays that long, he tends to come, say few words then disappear just as quickly." Mihawk finishes his meal. "Now the real question is, what brought him here in the first place? It's much to soon for him to make another appearance."

Perona pulls her head up off the ground. "What do you mean?"

"He tends to make his appearance every year or so, but it's only been a month since he was last here." He tells her as he wiped his face of any crumbs.

"YAAAAAHHHHHH!" A yell is heard from inside the castle.

"It would seem Roronoa has awoken."

-10 months later-

Zoro and Mihawk spar, as Mihawk only uses the slightest effort, Zoro is exhausted. Mihawk gives instructions all the while Perona eats her sweets watching the green-haired swordsman struggle. "Hararara. Zoro is getting no better Mihawk. You should give up on him."

"Shut up witch, what would you know?" Zoro spouts back, barely avoiding Mihawk's attacks. "Whoa!"

Just then Zoro notices an opening in Mihawk's defense. "Got you." Moving to exploit it. "Huh?" He stops just short as he realizes that Mihawk is no longer paying attention to him at all. "What is it?" Zoro directs his gaze to where Mihawk was already looking. In the fog he sees two silhouettes. One surprisingly tall and the other much shorter.

"You're back again? And with company this time." Mihawk states.

"Don't be so presumptuous, you think I brought this oaf with me? He wouldn't shut up the entire way."

"Shut up shorty. You know you needed my help." The two bicker between themselves.

*Clang* Having just learned colors of observation Haki, Zoro had dropped his swords, feeling the presence behind the new arrivals. "You're the one's from Sabondy. The ones that killed the tenryuubito."

The taller man glances at Zoro giving a big smile. "Oh, it it isn't Pirate Hunter Zoro, So this is where you were sent…" He pauses. "Actually, that was Urameshi that killed them. We just happened to be there with him."

"Why, why are you here?" Zoro picks up his dropped swords and sheathes them"

The shorter man speaks up. "This is rightfully my island. So why wouldn't I be here. I simply allow Hawk-eyes to rent space here. For I am the rightful heir to the throne of this kingdom."

"This kingdom? Didn't this kingdom die out over a hundred years ago? You can't be older than me." Zoro remembers what Mihawk told him about the inhabitants of the island.

"Don't lump me in with you pathetic short life humans. We have evolved past you limitations and can live for over 500 years before showing signs of old age." He snarks.

"Just how old are you? And who are you really?" Zoro can't help but ask.

"Here we go again…"

"Shut up fool or I'll cut you in half before you can blink." He continues talking to Zoro. "My name is Jaganshi Hiei as for my age it's 243 years. Not that is matters for you to know."

"And I'm Kazuma Kuwabara. First mate of the Akuma Pirates."

"Not be confused with the actual strongest crew member, me." Hiei quips.

Kuwabara becomes annoyed. "Oh really? I remember someone here losing when he challenged Yomi to a fight."

Hiei becomes infuriated at those words. "He had the advantage of fighting the captain the most out of all of us. Being a former marine and all!"

"Achem." Mihawk gets there attention. "Sirs, if you simply came here to spout non-sense then please be on your way. I am in the middle of training this boy in swordsmanship."

"Oh training? Have you taught him Haki yet Hawk-eyes?" Kuwabara slides down the hill to the training grounds.

On the hill Hiei notices a presence behind him. Turning around he sees Perona salivating while staring at him. "Can I help you child? and close your mouth."

Perona wipes her drool away. "C-c-can I have-" she and barely bring herself to say it and eventually yells out. "CAN I HAVE YOU BABY?" She stops cold. "AUTOGRAPH! NO, I mean Autograph!"

It was too late Hiei had already run away faster than she could see, leaving an afterimage in front of her.

"Aw… Damn it. I messed up I'm sorry!" She tries to chase after him, not knowing which way to go.

Kuwabara was watching the whole time. "Well that's a first…" He turns back to Zoro and Mihawk. "So, the Haki?"

"Only colors of observation so far. He has a remarkably high affinity for it already." Mihawk answers.

"Hmm?" Kuwabara bends forward to look at Zoro more closely, looking him up and down. "Tell me something Pirate Hunter, have you swords ever chipped?"

Zoro falls silent for a moment and moves his eyes glancing at Mihawk.

Kuwabara stands up straight again. "I see, so Hawk-eye chipped your swords?"

"Two, he cut two of them into pieces."

"Hawk-eye, I didn't know you liked to pick on rookies." Kuwabara chuckles.

Mihawk crosses his arms and smiles. "He earned my effort in our first encounter."

Kuwabara looks back at Zoro, impressed. "Is that right? Hey Pirate Hunter, want to never have you sword chipped again?"

Zoro's had finally calmed down and now wears his normal stoic look. "What are you saying? Are you offering me an unbreakable sword?"

"Nope, I'm offering to teach you to make the swords you have now unbreakable. If Hawk-eye is willing you train you then you must be a good enough guy. Plus I hear that your captain is looking to do something pretty crazy in his journey. He'll need a first mate capable of assisting him in that journey." Kuwabara scratches his nose. "So what do you say?"

"Fool, we don't have time for that now." Hiei stands between Zoro and Kuwabara.

Zoro looks down. "Whoa, when did you get there?"

"I've been here the whole time dumbass."

"You were just so s- AH!" Zoro's left eye was slashed cause a vertical wound.

"What was that?" Hiei sheaths his sword.

"Silent! Gah!"

"Oh?" Hiei seems to harbor some regret for his brash action.

"Geez Hiei. You don't just cut a man's eye like that." Kuwabara gripes.

"Shut up, I'm leaving you can stay if you like. I have no time for these short life humans." Hiei walks off into the fog. "I'll tell the captain you decided to leave the crew."

"Go ahead, he won't believe you anyway." Kuwabara pulls out a bandage and wraps Zoro's head to stop the bleeding.

"Goddammit. What's his deal? I think he cut my eye clean through. I'm probably blind in that eye now."

"Nah, I wouldn't say that, he's a big old softy. He probably only grazed the surface. There how's that?" Kuwabara finishes wrapping the bandages around Zoro's head.

Zoro places his hand over the wounded eye adjusting to the lack of depth perception. "Better than nothing, I guess."

"Great, now try and attack me." Kuwabara takes a few steps back pulling out his large claymore stabbing it into the ground. "Come on."

"How will this make my swords unbreakable?"

"Just shut up and attack me with all the power you can muster. Try to cut my sword if you can."

Zoro examines the claymore. 'I doesn't seem to be anything special. But if he's challenging me to slice it then it must be strong.' He takes his bandana and ties it around his head and takes out his three swords. "Kyuutouryuu. Asura." An illusion of Zoro having 3 heads and 6 arms rushing toward Kuwabara.

"Oh Whoa that's cool."

Zoro slices and past by Kuwabara and when the attack is done both Kuwabara and more importantly the Claymore are completely unscathed except now the blade is tinted black. "What? A black blade? It was a regular sword not a minute ago. There's not even a scratch." Zoro is in complete shock.

"Wow. That was definitely a strong attack. But there's one problem." He releases the claymore causing it to go back to normal and approaches Zoro holding out a hand. "May I borrow one of your normal swords?"

Zoro reluctantly hands him the sword in his left hand.

Kuwabara examines it. "Nice quality." He walks back to his claymore. "Watch closely…" The sword in his hand turns black and he cleanly slice through the claymore with little effort. He walks back to Zoro handing him the sword. "This is the power of Armament Haki, Pirate Hunter. And I'll show you how to attain the basic form of this ability but it'll be up to you and your own training to see how strong you can make it." Turning slightly to Mihawk. "Yo, Hawk-eye, is it cool if I teach you pupil for a bit?" Mihawk just shrugs giving an affirmative response to the question. Kuwabara grins and places his hands on Zoro's shoulders. "You up you it Pirate Hunter?"

Zoro smirks looking up at Kuwabara and smirks. "When do we start…?"

I don't remember the name's of Zoro's swords and I didn't feel it was needed to research it. If you know what sword goes in which hand or mouth then good on you. I wanted to have Hiei in this more but that'll be for when I show what he's doing on the island. I felt that Kuwabara would be more open to the situation. And as ALWAYS comments, rants, suggestions, critiques are all encouraged. Favorite for more content later.

Bye for now y'all. Shi-oon out.
