So I have no excuses as to why I haven't updated this story. I just got preoccupied with life and ended up with writers block, but I am back now and hopefully people still want to read this.

Disclaimer: I do not own the Losers or SHIELD. I only own Kailin.

Chapter 7

one year later….

I finally found my footing with the Losers. We had a few bumps here and there but it was starting to look up. We had just gotten back form a mission in Budapest, we were unloading the truck. Clay as per usual was headed to the bar, and as per usual Roque was going with. Roque and I had started to get along a little better but still he was an ass. I grabbed my gear and walked into our house.

Clay only took half of us on the mission this time around. We ended up being paired with another team. Which I guess for Pooch it went his way. He got to go home and see his wife, and Jensen got to see his sister and his niece. That left Cougs, Clay, Roque, and myself going. We ended up meeting with this guy named Coulson. He had two agents ready to go into the field. Agent Romanoff and Agent Barton. Barton was an archer just like I was. Clay had me team with them to probably keep me from Roque.

"Have you ever thought about joining SHIELD and leaving the Losers?" Barton asked as we were walking towards our point. He was a man in his mid to late 30s and loved to crack jokes. Even bad ones. His partner Romanoff was called the Black Widow. From what I had gathered she was from Russia and was an assassin. She was pretty stoic and was extremely pretty. If Jensen was here he would be flirting non-stop.

"I like the Losers, they're kinda my family." I said looking over at him. His blue eyes met mine and he just laughed.

"Hey so is SHIELD, and you could.. you know go back to school." Barton said shouldering his bow and crouching down. Romanoff and I crouched next to him.

"Clay, were in position." I said over the com.

"Roger that, wait for orders." He replied. I copied that and continued waiting. I observed Barton and watched him play with his arrows.

"I failed my last year in high school." I said staring through the binoculars. From my peripheral I could see him stop twirling the arrow.

"You could always get your GED and go to college. SHIELD pays for it. We could use you." He said looking at Romanoff. They were having a silent conversation. I could tell. Observation, I was getting really good at that. "Look Fox, Clay he's a good leader, but you're young. You have your whole life and you want to waste it doing basically nothing. Look kid I've read your case file, I know about you. SHIELD takes care of their own."

I stared at him. I didn't say anything. How could I? Clay took me in when Barkus wanted me out. Jensen taught me about computers and how to hack, Cougar taught me to use a gun and how to kinda snipe, Pooch taught me how to fix up cars and how to actually hot wire them, and Roque, even Roque taught me how to semi-fight with knives. How could I even think about leaving the Losers and joining SHIELD.

"Barton, Look." Romanov said pointing towards the base. We both looked and we saw them moving fast below us.

"Alright Nat, what do you think they're up to?" Barton said looking at her. I watched both of them.

"Guys, were suppose to wait for orders." I said looking at them. Barton smirked and Romanoff just stared at me.

"Eh we have orders to ignore Clay. Sorry kid you have to stay behind." Barton moved standing next to Romanoff.

"Wait! I want to come. You guys just can't leave me here." I said standing. "I'm a good shot with a bow, and Clay won't be too angry if I'm following your orders." I watched Barton look at Romanoff and he nodded his head and we moved down towards our target.

Three hours later of Clay yelling at me for disobeying orders. We got the good to go home. Clay was still fuming on the plane. Even Roque took a swing at me. Cougar though squeezed my shoulder in reassurance. Even Barton told Clay it was his idea for me to go with. Which I think made Clay even angrier. Flying home all I could think about is my future. What was I doing with my life? Could I really go to college? I laid down and fell asleep. I was exhausted. Barton and Romanoff bickered and made this mission fun. I felt I was included and not vying for a spot on the team. After we landed we said our goodbyes, or at least I did. Barton hugged me, and gave me SHIELD's number. It was a way of letting me know that I had other options.

As I walked down the hall to my room I had hoped Jensen was here so I could talk to him about what happened. Sadly, he wasn't home yet. Laying on the bed I felt exhausted again and fell asleep. What felt like hours later, I heard a crash and then a yell. I left my bag in the middle of the room and Jensen tripped and fell. Rolling over I flipped on the light, and he laid there face down.

"Jensen, are you okay?" I asked trying to help him up. He looked at me his glasses askew.

"Oh hey Fox, good to see you." He said laughing. He pulled his feet into a sitting position and we just started catching up. He told me about his niece and the soccer team, and I in turn told him about Budapest. As we talked I knew then that I wasn't ready yet to join SHIELD. I knew thought that I did need to get my GED. How I got this far without one was beyond me.
