I'm sorry for such the late update for this story. I took a break for the holidays to hang out with my family. At first I wanted to tell you that I was taking a break to make cookies, keep my cousins busy, and to play my new Pokemon Y game, but it was the holidays and I didn't want to sadden anyone, so I kept it to myself. I'm hoping you'll still read after my 'supernatural' break! :D (I'm going to call it that because it's been a month since they've put up a new episode.)
So, sorry, guys.
That being said, post me your 3DS friend code if you have one in the reviews! Mine is 3067-6063-3810.
Before I forget, you guys have asked me what does '∝' or '∯' mean? Well, I don't even know what they mean to be honest. That was the point... All I knew is that they were math symbols. So Imma gonna look it up!
∯ = Gauss's law, which has something to do with inverse-squares and gravity. (Idk... I tried, but it looked complicated, so I got scared... *sniffles*)
y ∝ x means that y = kx for some constant k. Meaning, y=2x or y ∝ x (Yay, it's simple! I get it, anyways. Sorry, I'm not good at explaining stuff. Note to self: Never become a teacher.)
Chapter 7: Cooking 101 Part 1
Clair's PoV
Shutting my eyes, I calmly took a deep breath. I managed to pickup my feet enough to reach the station in East City. My heart raced after thinking that now I was alone in my empty shell. At heart, I was very shy girl without many friends in Amestris, if Ed considered us friends, anyways. Ed probably hated me for being such a screw-up all the time. I caused more problems for the brothers than I ever solved.
'Stop thinking like that.' Yuki protested as she moved uncomfortably inside my pocket, like a teacup chihuahua hiding inside a toot bag.
I'm sorry, but what? I asked a little concern.
'You don't believe in yourself and you're letting yourself down. I know you'll pull through like always!' Her telepathy screamed through the rest of the voices. I nodded, giving a smile to her words. Hurriedly, I made it to the station ticket building with 500 cens in my pocket wrapped around my fingers. Quickly, I handed the man, what looked liked a penny with its copper lining, however I knew it was roughly $5 in American money.
Mustang had given me 200,000 cens to live on throughout my stay in the West. It astounded me that he gave me this much. However, after he said the cheapest motel was 20,000 cens or more, in most cases, a day, it didn't sound like much.
The guy stared at me for a second in a daze. "Um, there you go ma'am." I stared back at his brown eyes and hair with my heart jumping out of my chest. I wanted to leave to get on the train, but my feet remained land-locked with shyness buried inside my star-trucked eyes. "Oh, I'm sorry." He rubbed the back of his neck and moved his daze off me, tilting his head slightly. "I'm surprised the Elrics aren't with you today, that's all."
"So you noticed, didn't you?" I gave a slow cat-like blink with a sudden sigh. How could I miss them already? I just walked out the military building a few moments ago... Maybe it was the fact I wouldn't see them for the next week or two, maybe longer. Surrounded by my lonesome, there wasn't anybody guiding me in this unknown world. It was hopeless to think an innocent like me, who hadn't gotten in a fight in her life, to survive in this world. I didn't know how to defend or protect myself from strangers, and being a state alchemist, wasn't that a must? If I did survive this, it'd be a miracle and a half.
"It's hard to miss," he gave a friendly half-smile. "Anyways, Clair, right?" I slowly nodded, acknowledging that he spoke. Lost in my trace, I forgot to notice him.
"Yeah, I became a state alchemist yesterday, and I don't need the brothers as my bodyguards anymore." Or they didn't need me, anyways... I thought with another small sigh, but kept a consistent smile at the man. I showed him the watch hidden in my jeans with the chain wrapped around my side, like any state alchemist.
Suddenly, the man slammed his hands on the ticket booth table, his eyes widened and mouth ajar. The man's eyes twitched when he yelled, but he didn't sound angry, "What?! Seriously?! That little pipsqueak helped you get in the military! Good for you; I wish I had a job like that to support my family, but here I am." He shrugged, looking down at his tickets. "Hey, someone must like you, huh?"
Before I knew it, my face became hot and sweaty like I had worked on a farm for a few days without any food in my gut. Am I...blushing? Oh man, it's because of all these compliments. What do I do now? I became worried with the thought.
"I-I'm sorry!" My mind started to pound, and this time I didn't know if it was just me or the souls yelling at each other at once again. "I gotta go or I'll miss my train! Thanks for the ticket!" I tucked my watch and ticket inside my pockets.
"Yeah, bye," he waved as I started running toward the train. I handed the conductor my ticket and sat in one of the middle seats.
Now I was on a train by myself like my first train ride to Central, only this time I didn't have anything to look forward to. Ed and Al were off doing their own missions. Now I knew Amestris, from its valleys and streams to its military buildings and big cities, but now...now I wouldn't mind going home to the place where I belonged. I knew for a fact my parents were dying to find me, who were missing me dearly. More than anything I missed hanging out with my friends at school. They never started drama with each other, never got into fights, and always made me laugh when I was having a bad day. Somehow they were my second family to me. Surely they missed me, too.
'Thinking about home, aren't you?' Yuki started, climbing out of my pocket into my lap.
What are you doing?! Someone's going to see you?! was my sudden thoughts before I tried to move her.
'It'd be fine! Remember, I'm a dragon statue being delivered to your sister's house."
Huh? When a few seconds passed without an answer, I understood what she meant. No, you're a gift for my grandma's aunt's son's daughter-twice removed. I nodded to myself, then started cracking up laughing. Afterwards, Yuki started laughing with me.
Ed's PoV
After Clair left, Mustang asked Ed and Al to meet him inside his room. Ed wondered what the new mission was going to be, but wasn't too excited about it. Ed took a seat on the couch beside his brother before Mustang informed, "Your next mission is to keep an eye on Clair."
"Why?" Ed acted surprised but on the inside was glad it wasn't another idiotic mission, or was it?
Al gasped, "Are we going to spy on her? I'm sorry Mustang, but I don't like spying on my friend. It's rude."
Ed stopped his brother, "Wait Al, maybe we could figure out what she's hiding from us."
"She's hiding something from us?"
"Of course she is! Didn't you notice that she never urged you to eat anything, like she knew you couldn't eat."
"Brother, that's ridiculous. I'm sure she just didn't want to ask about it or something," he shrugged, but Ed didn't have the slightest intention to believe that.
He placed his chin on his hand, thinking, This is my chance. She might be hiding something about the Philosopher's Stone, too.
Mustang cleared his throat, "I didn't give you a chose to do the mission or not. I'm as interested in this girl as you are, so no, this isn't a higher-up job that the Fuehrer gave me." Ed felt there was more to that Mustang wasn't explaining to them, though he was intrigue by the mission.
Ed stood, "Okay, so when does the next train leave?"
Clair's PoV
The cheapest hotel I could find was 30,000 cens a day for one room with a bath and kitchen, which was better than the brother's hotels-or what they were like in the show. Though, Ed couldn't cook if they did have a kitchen. When I stepped inside, without any belongings besides the clothes on my back, the room wasn't spectacular. The room was dull white with blue sheets and one pillow on the bed with a thin blanket covering them. The kitchen was well-kept with a few cabinets that didn't have anything in them.
"Hey, so I guess your first home is a hotel in a small empty city in the middle of nowhere. I can't believe the train ride was over eight hours. We spent as much as one school day on a train. Crazy, isn't it?" I exclaimed.
"Look at it this way, it could've been longer," Yuki snuck(sneaked?) out of my pocket onto the cheap bed. "So what are we doing now?"
"Yuki!" I yelled, but kept my voice down to a dull roar over the heater. "You shouldn't talk in public; someone will hear you and think we're both crazy."
"Doesn't look like anyone's here?"
"Um, no. But-"
"Just relax," she urged.
"Yeah, I should just relax," I repeated, thinking of a nice spa with my body soaking in warm water. "I'm going to take a bath. While I'm in there...um..." I searched for something to do and saw a stack of newspapers sitting beside the door. "Here, read one of these and tell me if you find anything interesting. Afterwards, I wanna get something to eat, sound good?" I threw the paper on the edge of the bed when she nodded. "Good, and thanks!" I smiled, heading into the bathroom and shutting the door behind me.
Sadly as I turned on the water, I realized that I didn't have anything for my hair nor body wash. I shook my head with a smile, mumbling "Just relax, no need for stress. I'll pick some at the store...maybe a suitcase, too." I added tensely with a crooked smirk.
After I finished, I put the same clothes I was wearing and blinked a couple of times at the mirror. My blue dolphin shirt was showing with my blue coat on top. My pants had many stains covering the pockets and near the bottom it was falling apart from scraping across the ground so much. Tucker wanted me to borrow some of his cloths, but I refuse him. Plaid and neutral colors weren't my type, anyways.
When I walked out of the bathroom to meet Yuki, who hadn't left her spot, she jerked head and began speaking instantly, "These articles still haven't announced who the new state alchemists are."
"Yeah, it's a whole different world without Internet broadcasting everything within seconds, isn't it?" I sat on the bed, looking at the paper with teeth marks along the sides where, I guessed, she turned the pages.
She nodded, then continued to tell me about what she found, "The paper doesn't have many stories in it...like nothing's happening. Everything I've read is about the cold months coming soon and horticulture stuff. Actually, I find this great news for the town, but there's no leads for us."
"You make us sound like detective when you talk like that."
"We're looking for a rogue alchemist. How else am I supposed to talk?"
"You know, the more I think about it, I think I know who this guy is. On the train, I suspected him more than anyone...but I'm not sure... He didn't know much about alchemy, or it looked as though he didn't." I trailed, remembering the man I first met in Amestris. It would explain his crazy side, why he 'killed' me, and the story he was telling me about the military.
"Wait- You know something and didn't say anything!" she shouted.
"I kinda figured you heard my thoughts..." I mumbled shyly while biting my nails. "I was wondering why you didn't ask about anything... He's the one that bought me a train ticket to Central to meet the Elric brothers."
"Oh. So he was a nice guy, right? What would he have anything to do with this, then?" she asked.
"Uh," I brushed the back of my head with worry. What am I supposed to tell her? If I told her he hurt me, she wouldn't stop until the man was dead or at least got his payback. Why did Yuki have to be overprotective of me? "He sorta was..."
"What do you mean sorta!? If he did anything to you, I need to know! I know I'm a little over protective sometimes, but it's for your own good."
"No, no. It's nothing. You're right the guy meant no harm!" I gave a fake smile.
"Clair! Tell me what he did."
I sighed, "Fine, he told me about his horrible life while he was drunk. Something about his wife getting killed by the government because she was an Ishvalan. Then they banned him from the government. Since, I figured, he wasn't getting any income, he moved to the country to raise animals and food for himself without worry about the government coming after him."
"You heard all this from a drunk man!" Her cute soulful eyes widened on her green skull. "What else have I missed? This has to be our guy! Where do you think he is now?"
"I'm not sure, I never thought about it," I shrugged. "Hm, how 'bout we walk around town and ask around to see if anyone knows him. Also, I need to get some food and chalk."
"Why chalk?"
"Ed said I need to learn more about alchemy by practicing as much as possible."
"Why didn't he give you a piece of chalk?"
I stared straight at her with my softened eyes. "He's extremely stingy, that's why."
"I didn't know he was like...that?"
"Well, he might not care much for his automail, but if it's alchemy related at all, he'll fight you for it. You know how he is, and I don't blame him."
"I guess that's true. So we heading out now?"
"Yeah. Um..., I find it weird asking this, but hand, pocket or something else?"
"What?" her jaw opened slightly with confusion.
"Do you want in my hand or pocket?"
"Uh, yeah, of course," she face-clawed herself, then answered, "Pocket's fine." I grabbed her body and tucked her wings into my pocket. She stumbled like a small dog in a blanket to find her footing, then her small head poked out slightly from my jacket. After she found her spot, I trailed out the door to the nearest store.
Outside, the air felt below freezing. I zipped up my jacket to try to stay warm, but the wind cut through it like butter. The first place I found was a coffee shop near the hotel. I never liked coffee, but I'd drink anything to keep me warm. A bell chimed when I walked into the shop, while a girl waited on me at the counter. She had long, ginger hair with an apron around her waist. "Can I help you?"
"Uh, yeah." My voice drastically changed to a muffled voice, like with the ticket manager. "I know this is a coffee shop, but do you sell tea?"
"Sure! We sell some of the finest black and green teas. We also have some raspberry, but it doesn't taste as good," she replied. Funny how she can be so nice to me when she doesn't even know me. I wish I was like that around strangers sometimes...
"I'll take some black tea with some honey."
"No sugar?"
I shook my head, "Just a lot of honey."
"Sounds good to me, and I hope you like it." She went to the back, then within minutes she gave me a medium, thin glass cup filled with tea. "It'll be 300 cens." I took a slip before I handed her my money. It tasted as good as an ice Popsicle on a hot summer's day, but this time it wasn't that cheap stuff from Wall-mart. "Have a good day!"
"Uh, thanks. You too," I smiled, then walked toward the door. Suddenly my heart jumped when someone bumped into me as I was walking outside. It had enough force to make me fall on the ground and spill the tea into my lap. The teacup shattered on the ground, breaking into a million pieces. After I shook away my dizziness, I looked up to see a familiar face. "Ed! What're doing here!?"
For a few seconds there was a dry silence until he reached his hand out to me. "Clair?" he acted somewhat confused and grunted a bit. Once he got over meeting me, he reached his out to me. "Need help?"
"No, I'm fine," I stumbled on my feet with a few crackles of glass beneath them.
The girl behind the counter ran over to us, asking me, "Are you okay?"
"Yeah, yeah, I'm fine. May I get another glass?"
"You sure can, but this one is on the house," she smiled, heading back behind the counter. "Oh, and the bathrooms are behind those doors if you need it."
"Sorry that I bumped into you," I apologized. His face seemed surprised that I apologized to him, although I felt the need to. "But what're you doing here?"
"Mustang sent us because he said we're still your body guards," Ed explained, but I knew that was a lie.
I shook my head with disagreement, "No, that's not the reason at all, but whatever the reason, I don't care at the moment. It's none of my business anyways." I figured they would spy on me like this, but what surprised me the most was that Ed didn't disguise himself at all... "Are you staying anywhere nearby?"
"We're staying a few block away."
"Not the one you're staying at," Al added standing behind his brother. For some reason I didn't realize he was standing there until he spoke. Maybe he was too tall that his eyes weren't in my sights.
"Well, you should come over to my hotel because I found a good deal that has a kitchen and everything! I can make you dinner to repay you from me bumping into you."
"But it wasn't your fault," Ed argued.
"No matter, I still feel like cooking something! I was going to cook for myself, but that's boring. Wouldn't you think so?" He shrugged, unsure how to answer. "Have you ever cooked in your life?"
"Yeah, of course I know how to cook! I'll prove it to you."
I smirked with a brilliant idea. "Oh, okay, then. I'll see. Since you think it wasn't my fault for bumping into you, you'll have to cook for me!"
"What?!"
"Reverse psychology works sometimes," I chuckled. "Anyways, meet you there!"
"Wait, where are you going?" he questioned.
"I'm going out shopping for a few hours to buy me some new clothes and some other stuff. My number is 108. See ya later!" I waved as I walked out the door with a cup of tea in my hands. I wanted to leave before he refused. After me and Elrics left, the lady swept up the broken glass as I watched through the window seal.
'How did you manage to do that?' Yuki asked.
A young woman's voice answered for me with a laugh, 'She used verse-psychology. Not bad either; he was dumb enough to fall for it.'
Hey! Ed is not dumb!
'But he did fall for it,' she urged, a bit snobby.
Whatever. I shook my head.
The next place I headed to was a clothing store. Most of the merchandise were...ugly. All of them were neutral colors or nasty green and pale yellow. I usually didn't care for the clothes I wore, but over half of them were dresses in the girl's section. Why?! This is ridiculous! I can't stand dresses and the rest looks like something I'd find at Goodwill, maybe even worse than that.
"Is there anything I can help you with, miss?" asked a girl behind the counter with a blouse tied around her waist in a bow. It was an orange color to contrast her blue eyes and brunette hair.
"Uh, no, but thanks." I gave a smile, then started to leave, realizing that I wasn't going to find anything here.
"Hey, wait! You should try on one of our dresses!"
"How 'bout no." I sounded a little harsh.
"But miss, they're very comfortable!"
I stopped at the door. "Are you really this desperate for customers?" My eye twitched slightly thinking about helping her somehow, but I knew what being poor meant. Mustang gave me more money than what I had earned in my entire life. In six months, I could usually scrap-up thirty dollars, and I was considered the richest in my house...!
"U-Uh, I-I, w-we," she stumbled, then began to sigh. "Yes," she admitted. "We haven't sold anything in a week. My mother makes all the dresses for the shop, and I'm beginning to think nobody likes her clothing anymore." I looked around the room, knowing that wasn't just a opinion but a recognizable fact.
"I can help you get your shop up and running again!" I perked.
Yuki peeked her head, 'Are you insane? I've seen you go to school with red jeans, a blue coat, and a yellow shirt before! You don't know anything about matching clothes!'
Hey, maybe I am insane, but if I can help, I will. Plus, I'll be able to learn how to make a shirt. After that, I can use alchemy to make whatever I want, right?
'You shouldn't be using your alchemy for your own selfish gain!' shouted one of the voices.
I puffed, agreeing, I know, I know, but I need something to wear other than this so I can take a shower at least. I can't help people if I look like a nasty, wild dog, you know?
'Then they're judging a book by its cover and don't need our help anyways,' muttered the geek.
'I don't know. I agree with the girl. If somebody wanted to help me but hadn't bathed in a month, I wouldn't want them helping me,' brought-up the women from earlier.
Thanks. I smiled, though she couldn't see me...
"Hey, are you still there?" asked the girl waving her hand in front of me. "I said sure, and started explaining how the shop started. You weren't responding, though?"
"Oh, I'm sorry," I rubbed the back of my head sheepishly. "Please do go on!"
"We used to be very popular, even the rich would stop by just to see our shop. We were so proud for my mom."
"What...changed?"
"Everybody left. My siblings left, I mean. They used to help my mom with the little stuff. Now she's starting to give up because she can't work as hard and much as she used to. Now we're just a another run-down shop that needs more than a couple repairs."
"Oh. Is that why the ceiling started to cave-in and the bell on the door doesn't work anymore?" I asked. She nodded. "Hm. You know how to make tie-dye shirts? Those would look great in a shop like this!"
"What's tie-dye? Is that a new thing in Central? I've never heard of them."
'Clair...! Do they even know what tie-dye is? If they don't, you're changing history! Stop this!'
I ignored her. What harm could it possibly do? Have the military wear tie-dye instead of their uniforms? I laughed. "No, no, no, they were something that my home country used to make. Gimme some colored dye, a white shirt, and some rubber bands." The girl squinted her eyes, as though she wasn't sure about it. "Trust me!" I reassured.
The girl still wondered about me; I didn't blame her. She went to fetch the things I asked for with a package of rubber bands, a blue ink bucket, and a plain T. I wrapped and laced a million rubber bands into the shirt to form different patterns, then sat it in the ink. "Usually it'd take all night to soak. However...just take a step back please." She quickly stumbled to the back wall.
I closed my eyes, consciously thinking about the finally outcome. I clapped my hands tightly, gently laying them on the bucket. A flash appeared through the bursting room filled with electricity from the chemical reactions. Afterwards, I took the shirt out of the blue ink and let it sit on the floor.
"You're an alchemist?" She came over to me, astounded.
"...Um, yeah, sorta," I chuckled, "please don't say anything. I'm just glad that didn't explode like the other times and your parents didn't come in here..."
"They're asleep, so they didn't notice. I also shut the door, so the only thing they would've seen was the light underneath it. So how long does this need to dry?"
I thought about using a hair dryer to speed it up, but did they have hair dryers in the 1900s? "Could you lay it outside near the door and keep an eye on it? I need to do a lot of shopping today. I don't know how long it'll take, but I'll be back in an hour. See you until then!" I waved.
I hesitated before leaving her standing by the counter. "Thank you." I muttered, then left.
Ed's PoV
"How did I get in this situation? Al, you know I don't know how to cook," Ed whined.
Al answered, "You always are comparing cooking to alchemy, brother. It can't be that hard."
"Yeah, but I don't know anything about cooking! I don't know what to buy or how to prepare it."
"We'll figure it out," Al tried to calm Ed, but he wasn't helping much.
Ed sighed in a slump, "How about we say we tried and buy her something nice to eat instead."
"I don't know. It seemed like she really wanted to taste your cooking," Al cajoled.
"Maybe you're right about that, but she doesn't know how badly my cooking is!"
"You gotta at least let her try it, right?" Al urged. Ed looked at the ground, annoyed by the situation.
"Fine, I'll fix something, but it gonna be something easy, like rice and noddles."
Al started laughing, "Remember the last time you cooked noodles? You brunt them because you didn't keep an eye on the water, and have you ever cooked rice in your life?"
"Al, you're not making me feel any better, and sure I have! It's been a while, that's all."
They strolled passed a market to grab the things, then headed to Clair's apartment complex. When they arrived, a note was tapped to the door that read, 'Please meet me at your place. I found a great place to eat at! I'll be waiting. Well, if something doesn't attract my attention before then.' The words were sloppy, like she was in a hurry. "Hey, I guess you don't have to cook after all!"
"Yeah, I guess not..." Ed trailed, thinking about the letter and wondering what place she found. Ed ripped off the letter from the door and headed to his apartment.
When they arrived, she wasn't there nor a note for them to meet them at the restaurant. "Maybe something caught her attention like she said in the note," Al said.
"Yeah. I guess we should wait around here until she gets back." Ed plopped down on the couch. He started to close his eyes when he realized something. "Hey, Al?"
"What's the matter, brother?"
"Did we tell her our apartment number or even where it was?"
"Yeah, I think you told you. If not, I'm sure she figured it out. She's smart, you know?" Al bickered. After a moment her agreed with his brother, "Fine, how 'bout we look around town for her after a little time passes. I'm sure she'll come."
Ed was hesitant and a bit irritated by that plan, but agreed with him.
Clair's PoV
It took me an hour to find a shop that wasn't sold-out of chalk, and they wanted 4,000 cens for a box of them. "Are they insane? No wonder Ed is so stingy," I muttered to myself. After picking it up, a few small buckets of different colored paint, and some rubber bands, I reluctantly came up to the store clerk.
"You thinking about becoming an alchemist one day?" he asked.
I already am one. I wanted to admit, but I kept it to myself. The less people that knew about me the better. "Possibly!" I gave a fake smile.
"Come again, and tell me how far you get until you give up," he yelled, laughing, as started walking out the door. This time I didn't answer him; I gave a gentle grin. I can't give up. Not now, not ever.
'I'm with ya all the way!' Yuki chimed in.
We headed back to the clothing store. Grabbing the dried-out shirt from the harsh, cold winds, I brought it inside to show the girl, who was actually taller than me, but looked younger than me with her childish smile. I placed the rubber bands to the side and held up the shirt for her to see the designs in the ink. "Oh, wow. That looks really cool. We could make a fortune off this!" She quickly grabbed it out of my hands. "Mom! Dad! I figured out how we could make some money!"
"Nobody's going to buy this!" her mom argued when she walked into the room. She had the same blue eyes and brown hair as her daughter, only it was slightly shorter and she wore a worn-out blue dress.
"I will for 5,000 cens," I stepped in with a smile.
"You really want that much for it?"
"It looks cool! And I'm sorry ma'am, but I can't stand wearing dresses," I answered shyly. I forced her the money and she handed me the shirt. "Thank you! So do you have any spare shirts I can buy."
The woman looked at me with a deranged look, then smiled. "Sure I'll get them. They'll be 2,000 each."
"So you're going to milk me for all I'm worth, huh?"
She snickered, "Looks like it. Beg my curiosity, but how did you manage to get this much money for a teenager. You must have a good paying job at your age."
I laughed, wryly showing her my watch. "I do!"
Both their eyes widened, "You're a state alchemist? How?!"
"Long story short..." What's my long story short? "Um...let's just say it's a long story and I have places to be."
"Well, good bye, then. I'm glad there's at least some good people left in the military. Maybe this country isn't that bad after all."
Her compliments made me smile on the inside and out. Somehow it made me act like myself instead of a whimpering ball of shyness. "I don't know. Some people in the military don't have the word 'nice' in their vocabulary," I laughed. "It's okay, though. I mean, it always could be worse, right?"
"You're absolutely right about that!"
"Thanks," the girl came over to me and gave me a hug. So much for being myself... In that instant, a light went off in my head. There were tensions in my fingers, shoulders, and back, while my head became dizzy and legs began to feel weak. I tried to shove her away, but she didn't budge; however, soon after she let go. "Don't be such a stranger, either. Come back again whenever you have time, okay?"
"Yeah, sure." I nodded as my nerves gained control again and my shoulder relaxed themselves. I wish she didn't hug me. Why must I get this way whenever that happens? Subsequently, I stepped outside, leaving them with a wave and a good luck.
I went back to my dorm room, hoping to find a fresh meal waiting me, but knowing Ed... Ol' what am I thinking? He probably went out and brought me something to eat knowing him. When I strolled inside, there was a plate filled with rice and a glass of water sitting on the table. "Hello?" I asked without an answering from Ed nor Al. As I glanced through the kitchen, my stomach began to growl repulsively. "A little bit won't hurt," I said, staring at the plate. I sat down and started eating.
When I swallowed, my sight turned hazy with the rest of my senses. My mind and stomach ached, like a hot fire burning into my throat. The tastes buds in my mouth didn't have enough time to comprehend the taste.
Someone had poisoned me.
"You actually fell for it. I guess you're not as smart as you look." I turned my hazy eyes to the shadow behind the door. It was the same man from earlier, only this time he had a rope with the bottle of whiskey in his other hand.
Woo! I finished finally! I would go on with the story, but this seemed like a good place to stop. Plus, I have roughly 6,000 words...and yeah...I don't want to put too much in one chapter, you know?
Now I know what you're probably thinking (or you're going to start thinking about it now) 'Clair! You talk to strangers on Fanfiction everyday? You shouldn't be shy in the story. It seems impractical!' Yeah, I know, but the internet is completely different than real life. I could talk to people on here all day and act completely like myself, but out in the real world, if I don't know you, I'm as shy as a bat in daylight. Especially when my friends or family aren't around. *shivers* I'm not shy around Ed because he's not really a stranger...
Let's see... The FMA Trivia question for last week was: What's the name of Mustang's competitor in the South Command?
Nobody got it right. I think maybe one person tried? I looked in the reviews, but couldn't figure out who it was. *shrugs* Sorry if was you... Anyways, I'm going to keep that question. If nobody gets it right next chapter, I'll give you the answer and maybe give an easy question as well.
So see ya next week everyone! Or maybe sooner from missing school from all the snow we've been getting. Thanks for reading! Review if you want the next chapter sooner, and remember if you ever have any ideas you want me to add, tell me! =^.^=
