Chapter: 3 The Suspicious Boy and The Attack of the Dinos

I cannot lose anyone else Is what I was thinking as I ran as fast as I could towards my house while attempting to keep myself together.

After the fire alarm went off, I sneak out without getting caught. It was easy considering there were lots of people and I'm so short. I was right outside my house when I stopped to gap at what I saw. Part of the roof was caved in, like something big came crashing through the ceiling, windows were broken, and the doors were busted right off their hinges. Snapping out of my frozen spot, I ran inside only to realize it was worse than the outside. Part of the twisting wooden stairs leading up to Brook and my rooms were gone, like something cut the stairs in two.

All the drawers were lying upside down on the floor with our stuff scattered everywhere. All of our pictures were scattered across the floor with the glass shard pieces.

Click-click-click-click

I turned my head in confusion towards the hallway.

"Sophie, is that you?," I croaked while walking towards my mother's bedroom door, which we never went in there since she left, but noticing there was a light coming from the room underneath the door.

I tried walking slowly and quietly as I could towards the bedroom.

"Sophie, are you there?," I whispered as I slowly turned the knob.

Creak creak

I stopped dead in my tracks when I realized that it was not Sophie that was going through my mom's dresser draws.

Standing right in front of me was a Velociraptor. Yeah, I know it sounds crazy, but I've seen enough dinosaur movies to know what they look like: sharp yellow claws, sharp teeth with a tinge of red (probably blood), and beady red-yellow eyes that scare the crap out of you because a) they look at you with a gaze that screams you are my prey b) they have a look to them that makes have an intelligent gleam to it. I walked carefully, slowly, and quietly backwards hoping it did not hear me, but after seeing those dino movies I know it is useless. While backing away, I tripped over one of Brook's fake pom poms that she used to practice with.

Damn it Brook, I told you to pick your stupid pom pom up! I thought.

The raptor sure heard me now. It poked its head out of the door and saw me lying on the floor. As it was running towards me, I remember Sophie telling me my mom kept a hand gun taped underneath the hallway table. If I could just get to it, maybe I'll stand a chance against this thing. I got up as fast as possible and starting running towards the hallway table. I landed right beside the table when the raptor jumped on top of me from behind and made crash into the flower vase in the hallway, which was bigger than I was and Sophie told us she would hurt us if we even put a tiny little scratch on it, breaking it into pieces. I grabbed a piece of the vase by me to hurt the raptor, which was on top of me trying to bite my throat out with its sharp teeth, with it and plunged it into the raptor's throat gaging as its blood gushed out all over me and splattered across my face. Pushing, the raptor off me, I rushed towards the table and reached underneath to grab the gun, with the gun in my hand I pointed it at the raptor and shot it once, then I shot at it again making sure its dead (something my brother taught me: double tap- shot at something twice to make sure it is dead).

"Impressive," whistled a voice walking closer, "Woah put the gun down, Shortstuff."

"Two things, first: No way in hell. I don't know you, second my name is not Shortstuff its Andrea" I called, narrowing my eyes, holding the gun in my hands.

"That's boring." teased the stranger's voice coming from the caved in roof, "I know, how about I call you Midge, since you're short like a midget."

"I got a better idea," I hissed, glaring at the prick, holding my hands tighter against the chamber, "How about I just shoot you?"

"You won't be able to." came soft a chuckle from behind me.

"And why is that?" I countered, smirking, glancing around to see where this guy was.

"I have your gun.," came another chuckle from behind me, whacking my hand so I would drop the gun.

"Wha…" I barely got out, before I was being held down against the floor with the stranger on top of me holding my wrists so I wouldn't grab my gun.

"Now, are you going to be a good short girl that won't kill me or are we going to have a problem?" the stranger smirked, "That's what I thought."

When I gave him a glare so cold it could freeze even the meanest person in place.

"Who are you?" I fumed, glaring at this guy, trying to get him to release me.

When he determined I was calm enough not to kill him, he let go of me.

"I'm Evan Brady." Evan introduced, smirking as he stared down at me.

As the silence between us continues, I took the time to take a look at the mystery boy named Evan. He would be someone I would describe as emo for a number of reasons, first reason he has jet black hair that goes to his ears, which are pierced with black and silver studs, not to mention his bangs are covering one of his green eyes. He has a black lip ring that he unconsciously moves with his tongue every once in a while. Not to mention his clothes (although I hate to admit it but it looked pretty good on him.) He is wearing a straight black jacket that has skulls on it and has a silver zipper that he opened all the way revealing a purple V-neck t-shirt underneath which he paired with black pants with a silver chain hanging from the sides and finally black sneakers. He also added a skull necklace that hangs a little bit off his neck. In addition, he wears a silver ring with a black skull design on his right pinky. If I had to describe what bird he would be, I would say a raven.

"If you're done gawking at me I would like to get going now before more start showing up." Evan smirked, with arrogance all the while never taking his eyes off me.

Never had anyone made me flustered or speechless in my life until now. Which I labeled as my disgust at how pig headed guys can be. Trying to get control of myself, I calmly said

"Don't flatter yourself, I think guys are just pigs and besides do you actually think that purple looks manly?" I smirked, "Now would you mind getting off of me?"

"Yup and so does pink.," he smirked, getting off of me, walking towards the empty space where the door should be.

"Where are you going?" I questioned smirking, following him out of my house.

"We are going somewhere safe before more start showing up." Evan proclaimed over his shoulders, throwing me a smirk.

"Nope, I'm not going anywhere with you," I stubbornly claimed, "I don't know you…what's with that smile?"

Evan was walking towards me with a spring in his step and wearing a grin that made me nervous.

"What are you doing?" I stuttered nervously, backing up slowly, "AHHHH!"

When I realized what he was going to do, I starting running, unfortunately for me it was already too late.

"PUT ME DOWN RIGHT NOW!" I shrieked, while hitting him on the shoulder and back as he lifted me up onto his shoulder.

"Not going to happen, Midge." cackled Evan, while running towards my school. "Ow, you kicked my nose."

"Don't call me Midge ever again." I raged, still hitting his back. "Now put me down!"

"Fine, we're at your school anyways." Evan said, while dropping me on the ground, which was none to gentle might I add, "Make sure to get your stuff and bring your friend as for me, I'll go get your sister and her friend."

"THAT HURT YOU JERK!" I roared, baring my teeth at him.

He replied with a hand wave and a stupid smirk when I flipped him off, which just made me more pissed off. By the time Cassidy found me lying next to a tree by the river, I would always go to when I'm feeling mad or sad, I was in my "raging lion" mood as Cassidy calls it.

"Uh-Oh, what did Brook and Zoey do this time?" Cassidy greeted.

"Not them, him. He's is the reason I'm in a ticked off mood." I cussed, while violently tearing up a dandelion into pieces, "He seriously pisses me off!"

"He…who?" replied Cassidy with a puzzled expression on her face.

"Evan donkey butt Brady" I huffed with exasperation, noticing the look on Cassidy's face, "Don't even go there Cass."

"Go where, I didn't say anything." Cassidy denied with fake innocence, putting her hands in front of her.

"No, but you were going to." I accused glaring at her.

"Who is this Evan anyways?" asked Cassidy with pure curiosity, cleverly changing the subject.

"I DON'T KNOW!," I exclaimed, with frustration, "All I know is some dino raptor tried to kill me, someone or something ransacked my house, then some strange guy comes barging into my house and next thing I knew I was being carried by said creepy guy here."

Cassidy stared at me with raised eyebrows when I mentioned Evan carrying me.

"Before you ask, yes I protested against him carrying me." I grumbled, because normally I would have beaten the guy before he could even come near me.

"Quite loudly if I do say so myself, plus she gave me a good kick in the nose as well." drawled Evan, with Brook and Zoey right behind him.

"I could have kicked you harder, so shut up." I commented as I glanced up at him from leaning against a tree with that idiotic smirk on his face.

Brook came running up to me looking like she was about to say something to me when she tilted her head as she looked between Evan and me.

"I saved a cat from falling from a tree!" exclaimed Brook with pure happiness.

"That's awesome, sweetie." I cooed while messing with her hair as she sat in my lap.

"Yeah it was, I ran super fast to catch it before it fell off the branch." bragged Brook.

"That's not possible sweetie." I explained, furrowing my brows in confusion.

"Haven't you done something you couldn't explain, Andie?" Evan taunted, throwing me a pointed look.

"I don't know what you're talking about." I said through clenched teeth, glaring at him.

My friends were watching us back and forth seeing how long it would take before I finally snap. His smirking because he knew I don't know his nickname did not help my already barely controlled angry.

"Saving a girl seconds before being hit by a car sure is super human." Evan baited, smirking.

"She must be a very lucky girl." I countered, narrowing my eyes at him.

He just gave me a raised eyebrow that just screamed seriously.

"Since everyone is here now, its time to go." Evan happily chirped.

"Go where exactly?" I inquired tiredly.

"You'll see." called Evan, over his shoulders.

For all I know you could be bringing us somewhere to kill us I thought as I walked alongside of Brook and Cassidy.

"Hey Andie, its ok if you love him." whispered, Brook

"W-w-what are you saying, Brooke!" I stuttered with a faint blush on my face, "WHY WOULD I LIKE HIM?!"

"Then why are you stuttering with a faint blush covering your face?" Cassidy, interrogated teasingly with squinted eyes.

"That's ridiculous!" I whispered shouted, while Cassidy and Brook gave knowing looks to each other, "Just be quiet and walk."

Just then Evan suddenly showed up next to me telling us we were here. Cassidy and Brook were in fits of laughter as I jumped high in the air from Evan doing his ninja mojo.

"Are you trying to give me a heart attack you idiotic ninja!" I wheezed trying to catch my breath, while giving those laughing hyenas my famous death glare which shut them up pretty quickly.

"Are you jumpy?" Evan mocked with a smirk.

"Where are we?" I marveled, partially hoping to change the subject and the other half looking up in pure amazement.

The thing that had me speechless was the building Evan brought us to. The building was shaped like a jig-saw puzzle. Part of the building came out over the rest of the building and had glass windows. The stairs were under the part that was sticking out with small green shrubbery around it. The part of the building that wasn't sticking out, had glass windows and looked like a jig-saw piece.

"If you think the outside is awesome just wait till you see the inside." Chuckled, Evan with his stupid (honestly, his smirk and grins are actually super attractive) grin on his face, while walking up the stairs beckoning us to follow him inside.

To say the inside was breathtaking was an understatement. There was a silver clothes rack that rolls out along with a silver roll out shoe rack where we put our shoes. Evan led us through a glossy white-tiled hallway to a black polished door that comes out sideways towards you when opened. Inside the room, the walls were covered in gleaming silver with one big white curved desk in front of a black chair and one directly behind it. Alongside the left of the room was a huge white bookshelf that had wavy shelfs going across with straight lines going down splitting the shelfs making them smaller in size.

"What is it Evan." came an annoyed voice, coming from the back of the chair where you can hear someone tapping on the keyboard of a computer.

"I brought some people with me." Evan deadpanned, rolling his eyes.

"So, it has nothing to do with me," the voice sighed in annoyance, lifting a hand in a shooing manner, "Now leave and quit disturbing me."

"I brought Andrea Evans and her friends with me." Evan sung, smirking triumphantly when the voice was quiet for a few seconds.

Immediately the typing stopped, then the person in the chair spun around to face us. The guy sitting in the chair had brown hair that went down to his ears unlike Evan, his bangs went right up to his black rimmed glasses. Additionally, his eyes were blue with gold specks and were staring at me making me nervous. He was wearing a white dress shirt with a black vest, which his blazer was hanging on the back of the chair, he choose black dress pants. His polished black dress shoes were paired with black dress socks.

"My name is Hawk and I've been waiting to meet you, Andrea." greeted Hawk, with a huge smile on his face and arm outstretched.

"I appreciate you not calling me Shortstuff or Andie on our first meeting unlike someone in this room." I emphasized, while shaking his hand, throwing at pointed look at Evan (who was whistling innocently).

"I do hope you gave that person a good whack on the head." Hawk voiced his permission, with a slight smirk on his face.

"She gave me a kick to the nose and clawed my back to shreds." came, Evan with an irritated tone in his voice.

"Nice." Hawk chuckled, while giving me a high five.

"I like this guy." I laughed while pointing to Hawk.

"If the both of you are done tormenting me, Hawk has important things he needs to talk with you guys." Evan deadpanned.

"As hilarious as it is to tease Evan, he's right." sighed Hawk, "Have a seat everybody."

Hawk pointed to the black chairs that looked more like comfy benches in front of his desk. Immediately after I sat down, Brook came rushing into my lap. Unfortunately for me, Evan decided to get pay back on me by sitting right next to me so his leg purposely bumping into my leg along with his arm hitting my face everytime he moves. Cassidy who was sitting on my right was failing miserably to control her laughter.

"Andrea, I'm sure realized that when you were fighting the raptor its eyes were bright red instead of reddish-yellow." began, Hawk.

"Yeah, I did, but what are dinosaurs even doing here?" I recalled.

"That is because someone called Rex, who lives in the Dino World, is creating Ruby Stones that make the dinosaurs turn evil in order to find other stones called Emeralds that turn dinosaurs into peaceful creatures." continued Hawk, "However, the Emerald Stones aren't the only thing Rex is looking for."

We all gave each other a look while Hawk continues on with the story.

"I'm sure you can guess by now what is the other thing he seeks." droned Hawk, "He is looking for people with special abilities."

"Why?" Zoey voiced, tilting her head in puzzlement.

"Because they're the only ones who can stop him." intoned Hawk, "Which is why Lexi wanted the best kids with super powers to form a group to go after him and your brother was one of them, Andrea."

"You're lying! I would remember if he was!" I accused, glaring at him.

"No you wouldn't, now can I get back to the story?" Hawk continued the story, "This was when you were eight years old and your brother was 15. Lexi sensed you both had strong powers, which compelled Lexi to come to you guys for help."

"Unfortunately it didn't go as planned, your mother begged her not to take either of you, but your brother sneaked outside during the night and begged Lexi to take only him." choked Hawk, "The next day, Lexi came to get your brother and told your mother that there will be a time when you will be needed."

"How come I never knew about this?" I croaked, narrowing my eyes at him.

"Because your brother made Lexi make you forget those memories," Hawk sadly answered, "In this specific group there were six people that your brother lead. Out of all of them, your brother was the strongest."

"Is that the end of the story because I'm going to head to bed." I interjected, already getting up from my seat.

"Yes, at least that is all I know." Hawk sadly, nodded, "You all should get some rest, since you're going to have a busy day tomorrow."

After that depressing lecture, we were showed to a room by maids. As I opened my bedroom doors that was shaped like bird wings, I thanked the maid and opened the door. To my bewilderment, on the glass table next to my bed was the picture of Charlie sitting on a branch of a tree reading a book with me climbing onto his back. Plus, inside the mint green jewelry box with a wood fairy design on the cover that was sitting on top of a sterling silver and lime green dresser was my sparkly green Midge necklace looking good as new.

"I thought you want that picture and since I had the time, I fixed your necklace as well." voiced Evan, while walking into my "room", "I hope that was ok?"

My legs started moving on their own before I knew it I was giving Evan a gigantic hug. After about 30 seconds, I realized what I was doing and jumped back from him.

"I do hope you savored that hug because you will never get another," I glared over my shoulders as I walked into my bathroom, "Now get out of my room before I kick your ass!"

"Maybe I'll look through your dresser drawers to see what kind of clothes you wear!" Evan joked, sitting on my bed.

"Don't you dare!" I bellowed through the bathroom door, "You better be out of my room by the time I'm out of the shower!"

"On second thought I think I'll stay." caroled Evan, as his footsteps retreated towards my bedroom door.

Stupid Ninja I thought as I take my bloody clothes off before stepping into the shower. I scrubbed with all my might to get the disgusting blood off before I vomit. Walking out of the bathroom with a towel around myself smelling like lavender, I searched for some pajamas to wear. While rummaging through the dresser I found grey pajama shorts that have red flames design on the bottom and a grey pajama tank with Ace, who is my all-time favorite character from the anime One Piece, holding his bright orange hat with one hand while his fingertip on his other hand is ablaze. After quickly changing into them along with brushing my teeth, I scurried over to my new bed wearing charizard slippers on my feet. The mattress was lying straight, but overhead was a silver over hang with small little lamps on it. My blankets on the bed were silky forest green underneath a lime green comforter with my favorite anime characters. The bed looked like a Star Wars space shuttle. I fell asleep the moment my head hit the pillow.

"Andie the time has come." came a familiar voice.

"Who are you?" I called, squinting through the blinding light

"Awaken child." the voice softly spoke, while grabbing onto my shoulder with an outstretch hand.

Agonizing pain erupted from the place where the hand touched.

I bolted upright as a searing pain exploded from my shoulder. I ran towards the bathroom as my stomach became queasy just as I was brushing my teeth to get the awful taste out of my mouth, I noticed something on my left shoulder and almost shrieked before remembering that it was only 3:00am. Right on my left shoulder was a black angel wing tattoo.

How the hell did I get a tattoo?

Finally just giving up on getting back to sleep, I grabbed an deep royal blue old sweatshirt that has Sasuke calling Naruto an idiot design (another anime I watch) over my head and trudged down the winding clear glass staircase with my trustee charizard slippers on my feet, heading towards the TV room to watch some anime. The living room is pretty epic; it has a black super comfy couch with another glass table next to it and sitting on top of a metallic silver table was a curved in TV.

What the heck is this place? I thought as I starting watching episodes of One Piece.

After about thirty minutes later, Evan decided to come downstairs to give me another heart attack by sprinting over the back of the couch and landing quietly next to me.

"Whatcha watching?" whispered Evan, with a laugh, "One Piece huh, Ace dies just to let you know."

I whipped my head towards him so fast, and proceeded to beat him with the nearest pillow.

"You just had to tell me that the hottest guy in the anime dies!" I screeched as I epically fail to kill him with the pillow.

"Whoops." Evan smirked while fending off my harmless attacks.

Pretty soon we fell asleep on the couch together with the TV still on.
