Chapter: 4 Getting Ready for Battle
I have been told I'm an enraged bull if someone wakes me up without me wanting to be woken up, which is exactly how I feel right now with all the noise going on. Finally fed up with all noise that has been ruining my sleep for the last ten minutes, I sat up only to realize I'm lying on the couch with someone's arm around me. To my horror, it wasn't just anyone's arm it was Evan's arm that was wrapped around me, needless to say Evan woke up to my shrieking. As I stomped into the kitchen, Evan smirks at me while I give him the finger as he walks by to go upstairs to take a shower.
I combed through the fridge to find a can of Pepsi to drink, most people love to drink coffee first thing in the morning, but I rather have a can of Pepsi. Once I found my morning buzz, I started glancing through the cupboards to find the ingredients to make pancakes. All the while, I could feel Hawk and Cassidy's intense stares burning a hole through my back. Just when I couldn't take the stares any longer, Evan comes down wearing black sweatpants with a tiny blue dragon on the left pant leg and no shirt.
"Hey! That's my food!" I roared as he sneak a bite out of my pancake.
"Yum, that was good." Evan cackled while looking at me with a huge smirk on his face.
"Don't ever come near my food again." I threatened, brandishing my fork towards him.
"Ooh, I'm so scared." mocked Evan.
"You should be." yawned, a tired looking Brooke, with an equally tired Zoey right on her heels.
"Yeah, she once stabbed a classmate of hers with her fork because that classmate was trying to steal her breadstick." agreed a sleepy Zoey.
Evan stared at me open mouthed with a shocked expression.
"I was seven at the time, plus the guy deserved it considering he was being a douche." I shrugged, while making pancakes for everyone before they wake up.
"What are you guys talking about?" came Zoey's cheerful voice as she walked into the kitchen.
She was way too cheerful in the morning if you ask me, although I can't really say anything due to the fact of me not being a morning person while she is one.
"How Andie stabbed someone because they stole her food." chirped, Hawk with a massive grin on his face.
"I remember that," Cassidy recalled humorously, "He had to get five stitches on his finger."
"You're exaggerating, it was two stitches." I objected, smirking, turning over the pancakes.
"No, I distinctively remember it being five because he talked about it for months afterwards," Cassidy pointed out with a grin, "Never mess with Andie's food."
"Damn straight." I agreed, while flipping pancakes onto plates.
Evan was stuffing his mouth full with pancakes so fast that you could barely see his fork moving, so when he blurted out something that sounded like "vese nre koog", which I took as "these are good", he spewed parts of his pancake across the table.
"Keep your mouth closed when you eat, you disgusting pig!" I growled, as I wacked him over the head with a spatula.
He looked up at me like he was going to say something then closed his mouth when I wielded the spatula threateningly in my hand. All of a sudden, the doorbell rang then Valorie came rushing towards me screaming, "Big sister". I was so surprised that I fell onto the floor when she dashed into me like an Olympic sprinter, needless to say everyone else in the room, except for Evan and Hawk, were watching speechless.
"Valorie, what are you doing here!" I asked with astonishment, getting up from the floor.
"I was told to come here." Valorie grinned up at me.
"I told her to come here," Hawk broke in, smiling at me, "We need her."
"But she is just a child!" I argued with defiance in my eyes, crossing my arms stubbornly, "You can't ask something like that from a little kid."
"A child that we need," Hawk frowned sternly at me, "Now that the group is all here, we need to get your gear, so please follow me."
I pretended to stab Hawk's back with sharp daggers as he lead us up twisting, black, polished stairs to the part of the building that jutted out of the rest of the building. We walked past a dark red wooden door with black door handles shaped like a crescent moon and walked into an open-room with huge glass windows and lined with tons of computer monitors that had people with white lab coats sitting at each monitor. A grey swirling staircase lead upstairs to what I assumed was all these people's rooms. A young girl in her 20's with long, wavy, red hair wearing thick dark blue glasses, a light blue dress tank with a black blazer under her white lab coat, and black dress slacks with black high heels, came scrambling towards us making clacking noises on the glossy silver flooring.
"Everyone this is my head scientist, Theresa," Hawk introduced, motioning for her to step forward.
"Please, call me Tessa," Tessa greeted with a smile, "Sir the equipment is ready. Should we start?"
"Yes, we should, " Hawk agreed with a nod, "Kammi, Tara, help the others while Tessa helps Andie."
Hawk called over to two short girls with long blonde hair that ushered the Brook, Cassidy, Zoey, and Valorie into a room to right, while Tessa guided me towards a narrow passageway to the left side of the room, down a flight of wooden stairs with a glass railing.
"As you can see, Mr. Hawk renovated this building and made it headquarters to bring people like you together," Tessa called down over her shoulders at me, while walking down the steps, "There are some parts of this building he left untouched though, like the room you're about to see now."
Tessa stopped to open two huge wooden doors, literally at the bottom of the last step. She nodded her head towards the room, giving me the ok to enter. I walked past her and stood there gapping like a pathetic fish out of water. A gigantic mirror covered a part of the back wall with a shower room on the left and a dressing room leading to the left of that when walking into the shower room. There was a massive aero blue rack going to the ceiling to the floor with all kinds of knifes, swords, daggers, guns, bow and arrows on the right side of the room with a huge wrestling mat covered a corner in the back left side of the room. Underneath the gigantic rack was a smaller rack with boxing gloves, and fingerless leather gloves hanging from it. Right next to it was a row of tiny coat hangers with all types of heavy metal cords dangling off of it. Plastic, wooden, and stuffed dummies lined the wall across from the mirrored wall, which to be honest looked like they seen better days since stuffing as coming out of some of them, while some of the wooden ones looked crooked from someone gluing them on slanted. Lined up along the other wall, taped up punching bags were suspended on the ceiling by metal chains.
"Don't worry, when Mr. Hawk remodeled he supported the ceilings," Tessa assured with a smile, after glancing at my face, while sliding a gigantic silver step ladder across the weapon rack, "Now browse through the weapons until one peaks your interest."
Immediately, I saw a long, thin, and ice blue bladed sword that had peaked my interest. The hilt of the sword was dark blue almost black with the tip of the blade becoming a light ice blue and the hand grip was black with blue flames on the ends. As I was about to step down, a small thin bladed emerald green dagger with a bird wings shaped grip caught my eye as well.
"Good choices, Andie," Tessa approved with a grin, while handing me holsters for both of my new weapons, "Now for your gear."
"Ugh, I hate clothes shopping." I complained, which I got a chuckle out of Tessa.
"Well, I think you're going to like this one." Tessa grinned, leading me into the changing rooms.
And boy was she right. There was no girlie clothing in sight, only tomboy type of clothing.
Brook and Zoey are going to hate this I smirked to myself as I glanced through the racks of clothes until I stopped on a pair of black skinny jeans with pockets in the front and a black T-shirt which I paired with black leather jacket that has a hood in the back. For my shoes, I chose black leather combat boots with black shoe strings, as for my accessories I chose a thick black leather bracelet with sharp silver pointed spikes all around that can double as a weapon if need be, additionally I chose black leather fingerless gloves with spikes on the knuckles.
"Tessa, are you out there?" I called, looking around the training room, while walking out in my gear noticing she left.
"Looking good Shorty!" Evan whistled obnoxiously with a huge smirk on his face, from the ceiling.
"Come say that to my face!" I baited, while getting my Ice Blue, yes I just named my sword Ice Blue and my dagger Emerald, out of my hip holster.
"With pleasure!" Evan smirked with amusement, his sword already out and he struck my sword the moment he landed from the ceiling.
He was so fast I didn't even have time to process that he already landed and struck my sword with his long black sword and black hilt.
How can I counter when he's as fast as a cheetah? I thought as he came rushing for another strike.
That's when I remembered a move I used on my brother once and smirked while countering his hits.
"Why are you smirking, Shorty?" Evan taunted, raising an eyebrow at me, clashing his sword with mine.
"No reason really…" I smirked, leaping over him, and kicking his shin as I fell onto the ground in a crouch, effectively making him fall, "Except for this!"
Just when he dodged my attack, I took the chance to effectively trip him by using my hands to jump over him. I was feeling pretty proud of myself since Evan face-planted into the hard wood floor then he ruined my happy dance by grabbing my legs, sorrowfully making me tumble horrifically into him.
"Not so arrogant now are you?" Evan taunted with a brilliant smirk, while pinning me underneath him.
"Do you mind getting off of me?" I deadpanned, feeling my face start to get red.
"Why? Are you nervous?" Evan smirked looking down at me, clearing enjoying the fact he's the one who is making my face turn red, which by now is probably the color of a bright red tomato.
A loud cough saved Evan from being killed by my dagger.
"Are we interrupting something?" Hawk joked, hardly holding in his laughter along with the rest of my friends.
"No!" I yelled, my face bright red, throwing Evan off of me.
"Yes," Evan smirked, only to yelp when I punched him in the shoulder, "Ow! That hurt."
"I barley hit you, you baby." I mocked with a smirk as I glanced up towards my friends.
Cassidy was wearing black skinny jeans with a black belt that black squares that are turned sideways in the front and snaps in the back. For her shirt, she chose a black V-neck T-shirt underneath an insulated blue jean jacket with a grey hood in the back and black ankle boots with silver zippers on the side. Unlike me, the only accessory she went with was a silver studded black leather wristband.
Next, I glanced at Brook to see she had found some girlie clothes after all. Brook was wearing black stretch pants under a leather skirt with black boots that went up to her kneecaps. The boots had a line of fur going up the sides with huge fur on the top of the boots that ended at her kneecaps. Her top was a black dress tank top with a big black bow coming from the middle, plus she paired the top with a black sweater that ended at her chest. The sweater had black frills along the zipper.
Zoey was wearing almost the same thing as Brook except for her shirt was a black tank top with a pocket and her black sweater was longer, plus her boots had fake jewels instead of fur running up the sides.
Finally, I looked at Valorie's outfit, which looked totally cute on her. She had black shiny stretch pants under a black frilly skirt and black boots with silver jewels running over the toes. Her black lacy shirt had black ties in the front, which she tucked under her skirt.
They looked super cute, until they showed me their weapons then they looked fierce along with cute. Cassidy went with a black sniper gun attached with a scope that has a black leather strap to hang over her back. She also chose a small black knife as her second weapon. Brook went with a kunai and a long green spear with a thick curved blade. Zoey went with throwing stars and a black long scythe with a chain on the end. Valorie chose a light blue staff with crystals hanging from clear oval shapes on the top, which the edges on the top of the ovals are clear blue, almost white blades. Additionally, she also chose a bag full of caltrops that hung on her hip.
"I think I need to go to bed before I have a massive heart attack." I mumbled, while walking up the stairs in a daze.
"Yeah, I thought she would be like that." Brooke commented.
"Right off to bed all of you." clapped Hawk.

Knock Knock Knock
If that aggravating noise won't stop in about five seconds, someone is going to face my wrath. Deciding to give up on my precious sleep, I stormed to my door wrenching it opened only to see Evan's disturbing face standing there.
"Nice pj's." Evan humorously commented, while giving me the once over.
I glanced down at my bright neon green pajama bottoms with kittens on them and my Battery Charged blue T-shirt with a penguin on it, the shirt went way past my knees because my cousin forget to give me a birthday present one year, unfortunately for her it wasn't until she driving down to us that she remembered. In a desperate attempt to get me a present, she stopped along the way at a store that was having prize drawings. Now it would have been awesome if she won the top prize: two week vacation to Australia, but she didn't because she got the lowest prize: men's size: extra-large blue T-shirt with a penguin on it. Needless to say, she was pretty ticked off since she waited over four hours for the drawings to be announced only to find out she got the worst prize, by the time she got to our house it past two in the morning.
"You better have a good reason for waking me up." I warned grumpily, glaring at him.
"I want to show you something." Evan hesitantly said.
"Right now?" I replied, with raised eyebrows, as he nodded.
The seconds dragged on, Evan nervously fiddled with his lip ring with his tongue waiting for me to answer.
"Fine, but I'm warning you right now if you woke me up just to do math, I'll seriously hurt you." I joked, narrowing my eyes at him.
"Wait, seriously…um on second thought…" Evan muttered with obviously fake panic in his voice.
When he brought his head back to look at me, he had a huge irritating smirk on his face. I gave a good whack on the shoulder when we were walking down the hallway where we went to the research lab this morning. We stopped at the dark red wooden door with the crescent moon handles I noticed when we walked past it this morning.
"This is what I wanted to show you." Evan grunted, as he pushed opened to reveal my fantasy library.
This was probably the only part of the building that wasn't remodeled. The floors were polished wood and the walls were pearl white. Dead center of the room was a huge wooden rectangular table with comfy chairs surrounding it. There were tons of shelfs filled with books on the main floor, there were two wooden steps off to the left leading up to an open floor where you can see more shelfs filled with books and there is another winding wooden staircase leading to a second floor. The second floor literally makes a circle all the way around the room with part of it sticking out over the door. Instead of having a wall covering up the second story there's a black metal railing going up to about my waist, going in a circle on the edges of the second story so you can see even more selves filled with books.
"If you think that is incredible, just wait till you see this," claimed Evan, as he pulled me towards an enormous hand painted tree on the wall to the right, glancing down at the look I was giving him (it was the its-just-a-hand-painted-tree), "Just wait."
He walked up to the painted trunk of the tree and pushed in to reveal a secret room.
"After you, madam." Evan joked smirking, while holding out his hands towards the hidden door as he bowed.
"Why thank you, kind sir." I joked back in a fake English accent, while curtsying towards him before entering the room.
It was a small room with a slanted roof that had a window seat. Off to the side of the room was one of those therapist chairs that have the headrest on them, apparently someone has been sleeping here because there was a brown fuzzy blanket laying haphazardly across the therapist chairs. In the middle of the room was a small, circular, wooden table with a black leather Lazy-Boy recliner on the left and a round, silver, circular chair on the right and a tall standing lamp directly behind the two chairs, additionally along the right wall there was a wooden countertop that had a silver facet and sink. Sitting along the counter was a small sliver mini fridge, a black toaster, a black microwave, a roll of paper towels, and a towel. In the back of the room, were bookcases filled with tons of books. As I glanced around the bookcases, I noticed some wooden cupboards along the right wall over the countertop that had some plates, bowls, cups, and silverware laying inside.
"It's pretty awesome right." Evan bragged, "I made this place for myself and I painted that tree out there so no one can find this place."
"It's a cozy little man-cave." I teased as I walked over to the therapist chair to sit down.
"I like to think of it as a personalized room for me." Evan smirked, glancing towards me when he noticed I made no sound, "Why are you so quiet…"
The moment I sat down on the chair, I was sleeping so soundly that I didn't know Evan say "Now it's for the both of us" and kiss my forehead, while covering me up with the blanket as he laid me down on the chair.
